Justin Kodua speaks on viral statement on sacking Owusu Bempah, Kevin Taylor

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has broken his silence following a purported statement officially sacking Kevin Taylor and Ernest Owusu Bempah from the party.

In a statement issued by the NPP on May 10, 2026 disclosed that both have been “EXPELLED from the party with immediate effect”.

According to the NPP, both men have been found guilty of “gross misconduct, anti-party activities, public attacks on the party, undermining its leadership, and engaging in behaviour inconsistent with the values, principles, and integrity of the New Patriotic Party.”

The NPP’s full statement read, “NPP OFFICIALLY SACKS KEVIN TAYLOR AND ERNEST OWUSU BEMPAH FOR GROSS MISCONDUCT AND ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) wishes to inform the general public and all party members that, in accordance with the provisions of the NPP Constitution and in line with the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity, the following individuals have been EXPELLED from the party with immediate effect:

1. Mr Kevin Taylor

2. Rev. Ernest Owusu Bempah

These individuals have been found guilty of gross misconduct, anti-party activities, public attacks on the party, undermining its leadership, and engaging in behaviour inconsistent with the values, principles, and integrity of the New Patriotic Party.

Their actions have brought the party into disrepute, caused division, and violated the trust placed in them as members and public figures associated with the NPP.

This decision was taken after due process, consultations with relevant party organs, and in strict accordance with Articles 3(5), 4(2)(b), and 12(1)(a) of the NPI Constitution.

The NPP remains committed to discipline, unity, and the collective vision of building a strong, united, and prosperous Ghana.

We call on all true patriots and members of the party to remain calm. focused. and committed to our shared cause.

Long live the New Patriotic Party!”.

However, in a post shared on social media on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Justin Kodua indicated that the said statement should be treated as “fake.”

Meanwhile, the NPP, in a similar statement, has demanded that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) rein in Kevin Taylor over his incessant attacks on former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

In a strongly worded press release issued on May 8, 2026, the NPP described the attacks as a desecration of a national icon.

They further called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rein in Taylor, who they alleged has deep ties to the party.

According to the NPP, the vicious attacks by Kevin Ekow Taylor against His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor are not politics but a desecration.

They added that President Kufuor rescued this nation from economic collapse, strengthening Ghana’s democracy, earning the admiration of Ghana and the world.

The NPP statement, signed by the Director of Communication Richard Ahiagbah, wrote, “STOP THE SACRILEGE: THE NDC MUST REIN IN KEVIN TAYLOR OVER HIS ATTACKS ON PRESIDENT KUFUOR.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the sustained and vicious attacks by Kevin Ekow Taylor against His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, former President of the Republic of Ghana. This is not politics. This is desecration. President Kufuor rescued this nation from economic collapse, strengthened our democracy and earned the admiration of Ghana and the world.

He is not a partisan target; he is the father of this nation. Any society that permits the vilification of such a man without consequence has lost its moral footing. The NDC’s silence is not neutrality.

It is complicity: Kevin Taylor’s deep and well-documented ties to the NDC machinery make it impossible for the NDC to feign innocence. When a known operative verbally assaults a former President and the leadership of the NDC watches in silence, their silence becomes an endorsement, enabling the deviance”.

The NPP in their statement further mad two demands, saying. “The NPP demands the following from the leadership, especially from H.E. President John Dramani Mahama:

1. President Mahama and the NDC must immediately dissociate themselves from the attacks on the person and legacy of President Kufuor

2. Kevin Taylor must issue a full, unqualified, and public apology to President Kufuor. There are lines that decency, culture, and conscience forbid us from crossing, and suck behaviour is one of them. The NDC must decide whether it will stand with our shared cultural values or with the savagery of Kevin Taylor

Ghana is watching and taking note of the indifference of the NDC and the Mahama administration”.
