The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has debunked a viral social media publication alleging that Dominic Bonsu Ventures, owned by Dominic Bonsu, who allegedly serves as a bodyguard for Sammy Gyamfi, has absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the Board.
According to GoldBod, the widely circulated news is “entirely false, malicious and deliberately intended to mislead the public”.
The GoldBod rejected claims that Dominic Bonsu was a former bodyguard or personal security officer to the GoldBod Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.
GoldBod boldly stated that it has not lost and/or advanced GHC200 million, or any amount of money, to Mr Dominic Bonsu or Dominic Bonsu Ventures.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, GoldBod stated, “The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has taken notice of a widely circulated social media news card alleging that the proprietor of Dominic Bonsu Ventures, who is purportedly described as a former bodyguard to the Chief Executive Officer of the GoldBod, Mr Sammy Gyamfi, has absconded with GHC200 million belonging to the GoldBod.
The GoldBod wishes to state, unequivocally, that the publication is entirely false, malicious and deliberately intended to mislead the public.
For the avoidance of doubt:
Mr Dominic Bonsu has never, at any point, served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to the Chief Executive Officer of the GoldBod, Mr Sammy Gyamfi. Any suggestion to the contrary is completely false.
The GoldBod has not lost and/or advanced GHC200 million, or any amount of money, to Mr Dominic Bonsu or Dominic Bonsu Ventures.
The facts are that Dominic Bonsu Ventures’ licence was suspended by the GoldBod for suspected breaches of the terms and conditions of its licence, as well as the GoldBod Trading Directives, in accordance with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
Following investigations and enforcement action, Mr Dominic Bonsu was arrested and remanded into lawful custody by the High Court, Accra, where he remains subject to ongoing legal proceedings.
The GoldBod is deeply concerned by the deliberate publication of falsehoods designed to distort an ongoing enforcement action, misinform the public and undermine confidence in its operations.
We therefore urge the public to disregard the fabricated claims and rely solely on information issued through the GoldBod’s official communication channels.
The GoldBod also calls on media organisations, bloggers and social media users to verify information before publication and to exercise the highest standards of responsible journalism.
The GoldBod remains committed to enforcing the laws governing Ghana’s gold trading sector fairly, professionally and without fear or favour”
GoldBod statement follows, allegations made by Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, revealing that he and some colleagues have decided to investigate allegations that a former security guard of GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi reportedly absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the company.
