A former Deputy Minister of Communications, Dr Victoria Hamah, has cried out about a painful experience of public humiliation, media lynching and betrayal.

According to Dr Victoria Hamah, family is an illusion, disclosing that when it mattered most, she was left all alone.

The former deputy minister highlighted that the experience had led her to a painful conclusion about family and the support people expect from close relations during difficult moments.

She noted that despite the presence of people she considered close to her, she was ultimately alone when it mattered most.

In her Facebook post, which has since attracted numerous sympathetic and encouraging comments on Saturday, August 29, 2026, Dr Hamah stated, “I have painfully realised that family is an illusion”.

“When I was publicly humiliated, subjected to media lynching, and betrayed by those closest to me, I learned the hardest truth of all: when it mattered most, I was alone,” she said.

It will be recalled that back in 2013, President Mahama, during his first term, dismissed Victoria Lakshmi Hammah, then Deputy Communications Minister, after a leaked recording revealed her stating she wouldn’t leave politics until amassing $1 million.

Meanwhile, her comments have attracted a mixed reaction from Facebook users saying, “Awwwww my dear, the storm is over, and I’m so proud of you for finding the strength to move on, even when it meant walking away from people you once thought would always stand by you.

Sometimes life teaches us the hardest lessons through the people we love the most. But look at you, you survived the pain, the betrayal, the noise and the disappointment, and you are still standing stronger and wiser.

Never feel guilty for choosing your peace. Family is not always about blood. Sometimes the people who genuinely love, support and celebrate you become your true family.

We are all here cheering you on, praying for you and rooting for everything beautiful that lies ahead. May this new chapter bring you peace, healing, genuine love and happiness.

The storm has passed, my dear. Now it’s time to enjoy the sunshine, Victoria Lakshmi Hamah. Much love”.

Another netizen added, “ Family is about those who care for you, not necessarily those close to you. They can be distant. This is my definition of family. I don’t trust anyone”.

“This is the reality of life. We must learn to be our own heroes. Life may be Difficult, especially during our lowest moments, but the Moment you survive it alone, you will realise that, you don’t need all those HANG-AROUND-HUMANS anymore!”, a netizen added.

One last netizen added, “Have you considered writing a book? I think you have a lot the world can benefit from. Put this deep wisdom and experiences into a book📚📚. Because you have this ability to distil issues and evoke relevant conversations”.

“Very painful recall. Thank God you overcame. Being alone is not the problem but how you manage those moments and create opportunities. When men reject you turn your eyes upon Jesus”, one Facebooker stated.
