The Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II has revealed that he will be building a factory with the cash gifts he received during his 60th birthday.
He disclosed that he received a total of GH¢4,350,000 during his 60th birthday celebration.
According to the Dormaahene, he is not going to touch the money, as the entire amount of GH¢4,350,000 will be used to build a factory at Dormaa Akwamu to create employment opportunities for the youth.
Speaking in a viral video shared on X, the Dormaahene stated, “I received a total of GH¢4,350,000 (43.5 billion old Ghana cedis) in cash gifts during my 60th birthday celebration, and the entire amount will be used to build a factory at Dormaa Akwamu to create jobs for the youth”.
Reports also suggest that at the colourful ceremony held at the palace, Mr Prince Bekala, owner of Jegri Bekala Mining Company, presented a brand-new Rolls-Royce vehicle to the chief.
According to the information gathered, the gift marks the second vehicle presented by Mr Bekala, following a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 gifted to the Dormaahene during his 59th birthday celebration last year.
The 60th birthday of the Dormaahene was attended by Lady Anna Agyemang Badu, wife of the Dormaahene, his children, Odeneho Akosua Fima Dwabeng II, Paramount Queen Mother of the Dormaa Traditional Area, and several chiefs and queen mothers.
Other dignitaries included Odeneho Kwafo Akoto, Akwamuhene of the Suma Traditional Area, and Nana Yaw Sammor Dua II, Paramount Chief of the Sampa Traditional Area.
Also, Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata and Kwabena Kwabena performed at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Sports Stadium.
Some netizens reacting to the video stated, “Give it to your people as startup capital erh na everybody wey wan work for factory ? What factory can $400,000 build on this generation and in the end workers will be paid 700gh per month”.
One X user added. “Ghanaians have this whole job creation mentality backwards. We shouldn’t create factories for the primary purpose of providing jobs for the people, that is why they often break down.
The main goal should be to provide value to the people in the community, which means only the best people for the job get to work in there”.
A netizen added, “People said he no get aura sake of he dey receive money from people. The poor will continue to be poor while the rich will prosper because what is aura or steeze when other things matter”.
“Seriously, this is the kind of mindset Ghana 🇬🇭 needs to develop. Nana, God bless your new age and grant u abundant wisdom to lead your people. On the other hand, if this government renews the lease agreement with Goldfields, then we will know that they hate Ghana 🇬🇭 and Ghanaians”, a netizen added.
One X user added, “When he donated 5M dollars to the Komfo Anokye renovation, that one it was your fathers and your grandfathers monies oong. Mo ne gyimii. The things Asantehene dey do, you think all dey come online for u to see? Someone Dey that village thinking it’s same size as Kumasi”.
A netizen added, “Whatsoever, this is a forward-thinking chief, always creating opportunities for his people. He has earned my respect”.
