Farouk Aliu Mahama, former Member of Parliament for Yendi, has said he is confident of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia winning the NPP primaries on January 31.

The former Yendi MP stressed that he strongly believes that Dr Bawumia will win 14 regions out of 16.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM show on Wednesday, January 21, Aliu Mahama stated, “In the NPP race, I strongly believe that Bawumia will win 14 regions out of 16. This is based on what we are seeing on the ground and the overwhelming support he is receiving from delegates across the country”.

“The NPP race is about selecting a leader who can unite the party and inspire confidence. That is why I am convinced that Bawumia will win 14 regions out of 16—his vision for Ghana resonates with the grassroots and party executives alike,” he noted.

The former Yendi MP added, “Looking at his record, it is clear that Bawumia will win 14 regions out of 16 because delegates trust his experience and commitment to continue advancing the NPP’s agenda”.

“The stakes are high in the NPP race. Delegates must choose wisely, and I am confident that Bawumia will win 14 regions out of 16, bringing strength and cohesion to the party,” Farouk Aliu Mahama emphasised.

He further added that the Aliu Mahama family will always stand by Dr Bawumia.

According to Farouk Aliu Mahama, his late father always supported Dr Bawumia and made a strong case for him to become Akufo-Addo’s running mate.

Aliu Mahama added, “The Aliu Mahama family will always stand by Dr Bawumia. He has been a consistent source of support and guidance for me, and we recognise his commitment to the party and the country.”

“My late father always supported Dr Bawumia. He made a strong case for him at the NEC when he was presented by then-candidate Akufo-Addo as his running mate and went around the country with him”.

“Dr Bawumia has not left us and has held the family in high esteem. His guidance and support have been invaluable over the years. We will continue to stand by him because he has always stood by us, and we believe in his vision for Ghana,” Farouk Aliu Mahama said.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has urged the party delegates to ignore the lies being spread against him and vote massively for him.

According to Dr Bawumia, there is a deliberate campaign of insults and misinformation against him two weeks to the NPP primaries.

Dr Bawumia highlighted that they have picked up intelligence that his opponents are preparing to launch personal attacks and spread falsehoods in the last weeks to the election.

Speaking to NPP delegates at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, January 20, Dr Bawumia stated, “A few days ago, we received intelligence that, with two weeks left to the primary, they are planning a strategy to insult me and spread lies about me. So be alert and wary. You will hear a lot of lies about me. They want to change your minds. Don’t mind them. Go and vote for me.

This is not an insulting competition, but because they know their campaign is failing. That is why they are saying, ‘If you miss the ball, don’t miss the man.’ They want to insult me, but I won’t mind them. I am focused on victory.”
