“I was not the best student in class, but I have been able to figure out life” – Shatta Wale

Entertainment“I was not the best student in class, but I have been able to figure out life” – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has said he was not the best student in class, but he has been able to figure it out in life.

Speaking on Joy Prime, Shatta Wale stated, “My parents were strict, but education-wise wise I wasn’t good; my sisters were also doing well, even though I was not last from primary to Junior high school.

When I went to the SHS the first time, I saw myself in the last 10; I was shocked. So I got some friends in school, we were not going to class, like stuff like that”.

He added, “My parents, my dad was more like no thyself spirit, education was part of the plan, all he wanted me to know was just be aware of myself, who I am, and what I am in the world to do. What career can I pursue to be very successful? My dad was self-educated; he was always teaching me in the house.

Even though I still have problems with him, he really took me to a school of life. I tell my team all the time I am not intelligent, I am not the best guy in class, but I have been able to figure out what life is, so I move accordingly”.

Also, Shatta Wale in the same interview acknowledged the work of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) boss Raymond Archer.

According to Shatta Wale, what Raymond Archer arrested him was God-ordained.

The dancehall artiste revealed that Raymond Archer is now his best friend and feels God sent him to educate all Ghanaians on how to buy properties from the right source.

He added, “Raymond Archer is now my best friend. I feel God sent him for us to educate the people of Ghana, that is what he did on how to buy cars from the right sources.

So, that is one of the problems we have solved in this country; people might think he arrested me, but all that he did was God-ordained; he has really opened our eyes to certain things”.

He added, “It is about time the youth have to be wise and know how to purchase properties, that is what I am doing right now”.

It will be recalled, Shatta Wale was released from EOCO custody on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Shatta Wale was released after fulfilling revised bail conditions.

His earlier bail condition was set at GHC10 million bail with two sureties.

Cephas Boyuo, Shatta Wale’s lawyer, confirmed that the bail amount of GH₵10 million has been reduced to GH₵5 million with two sureties.

As part of the bail conditions, Shatta Wale is expected to report to EOCO three times a week.

Shatta Wale, upon returning home in a live video, stated, “I want to say thank you to my management team… Everybody has been supportive with this, and to you, the fans, I owe you a beautiful concert one of these days because you guys have been supportive”.

“I heard some of you came there from morning, and you didn’t want to leave, but as you have seen my video, you should know Shatta is safe, your king is safe, One Don is safe. I am home now, and I want to say a big thank you for supporting me, for being around me in times like this, because I needed you guys the most. You guys are the ones that hold me down,” he added

Shatta Wale further thanked the staff of EOCO for their professionalism.

He added, “To all the staff of EOCO, you guys have been wonderful. At least I came there, you guys really took me through the rightful processes that were needed and I just want to say God bless you”

“To Mr. Raymond Archer, I just want to tell you I thank you so much for your understanding. I thank you so much for cooperating.”
