The husband of Theresa Boakye Dua Asante, the 31-year-old woman who died during childbirth at Ridge Hospital, has vowed to seek full accountability for his wife’s death and other pregnant women in the country.

According to Daniel Ofori Asante, popularly known as KODA, his resolve was strengthened by the many Ghanaians who recounted their own experiences with maternal mortality.

He expressed his gratitude to citizens and well-wishers for the solidarity shown to his family after the tragedy.

Daniel Ofori Asante highlighted that bringing life into this world must never cost a woman her life, whether at Ridge Hospital or any other health facility in Ghana.

He wrote, following his wife’s burial, “Hearing your stories has turned my grief into an unyielding resolve. I assure you that I am fully committed to seeking complete accountability and clear answers on all matters surrounding the preventable death of my beloved wife through all appropriate channels with the hope that such glaring mistakes do not happen again”.

“Bringing life into this world must never cost a woman hers, whether at Ridge Hospital or any other health facility in Ghana,” he wrote.

“I owe this sacred duty to the memory of Theresa, and I owe it to every pregnant woman in this country. I will not fail you,” he added.

Earlier, Daniel Ofori Asante, a Ghanaian man, took to social media to accuse the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, of negligence in the death of his wife, Theresa Boakye Dua.

In a Facebook post on Friday, August 28, 2026, the Ghanaian man, as he prepared to lay his wife to rest, made the allegations.

According to his Facebook post, they had been married for just 19 months, adding that the Caesarean section was his wife’s first attempt at childbirth.

He alleged that his wife’s death followed what he described as a failure by the healthcare system and the medical personnel responsible for her care.

Daniel Ofori Asante explained that Theresa’s only fault was being pregnant and placing her trust in Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) for a scheduled, elective Caesarean section.

He further lamented that their newborn baby boy has been robbed of the unconditional love of a devoted mother.

According to him, his wife was a gentle, peaceful, and unproblematic soul, yet reckless decisions made by some people at Ridge Hospital ensured her life was cut short.

“In a few hours, I will lay to rest my beloved wife, Theresa Boakye Dua, after just 19 months of marriage. She is gone because our porous healthcare system and the very medical personnel trusted to protect her failed her when she needed them most.

Theresa’s only fault was being pregnant and placing her trust in Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) for a scheduled, elective Caesarean section.

Since the evening of July 16, 2026, I have lived in excruciating pain. I am still struggling to process the horrific ordeal my wife, our families and myself endured at Ridge Hospital. A nightmare that ultimately stole the life of a vibrant young mother whose only dream was to raise her newborn son.

Our baby boy has been robbed of the unconditional love of a devoted mother. It shatters my soul knowing he will grow up without the warmth of the woman who cherished him most, and that his future birthdays will forever be shadowed by this preventable tragedy.

Every morning, I look at my mother-in-law and wonder how any mother survives the agony of losing her only child in the very act of bringing new life into this world.

Picking my father-in-law up from the airport last 2 weeks ago was one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. My wife and I said goodbye to him at the airport earlier in January; he wasn’t scheduled to return to Ghana until 2027, yet here he is, brought home early by blatant negligence and unprofessionalism at the very highest level.

The entire family, colleagues from the Ministry of Health, members of ICGC Covenant Temple, and countless friends are all reeling from this profound loss.

Theresa was a gentle, peaceful, and unproblematic soul, yet reckless decisions made by some people at Ridge Hospital ensured her life was cut short.

The trauma and psychological scars inflicted on our family are irreparable. Congratulations on making me a widower in my youth because you gambled with the life of the person I loved most.

This pain I bear every single day cannot simply be brushed aside. After I honour my wife today, Friday 28th August, 2026, the full truth will be told.

A disappointing reality of Unprofessionalism, Manipulation, and Extortion.

Will this bring back the life of my wife? Absolutely not, but so that no other pregnant woman or family has to endure this living nightmare.

T! I will lay you to rest today with an intensely heavy heart as I promised you, but know that our fight for truth does not end here… To be continued.

Rest in perfect peace, my best friend, my soulmate, and the love of my life. You did not deserve this. May God keep you until we meet again. The family and I are broken, but we promise to remain strong for our son, DT.

I love you endlessly, T. ❤️

Da yie, me dɔfo pa.
