“It’s shameful gov’t begs for Ghc1.77m worth of equipment but wastes millions on by-elections” – Ntim Fordjour

News“It’s shameful gov’t begs for Ghc1.77m worth of equipment but wastes millions on by-elections” - Ntim Fordjour

Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, has slammed the John Mahama government for wasting millions on by-elections and reruns.

The Assin North MP once again alleged that the Mahama government blew Ghc38.6 million in a single day on the Akwatia by-election and Ghc1m on the rerun of a few polling stations in Ablekuma.

He accused the government of failing to allocate capital expenditure to the Ghana Immigration Service in the 2026 Budget.

Rev John Ntim Fordjour slammed the government for seeking logistical assistance from international partners while blowing resources on by-elections and reruns.

In a post on Friday, December 12, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour wrote, “It’s very difficult to understand a government which claims to have no funds to allocate to Ghana Immigration Service as Capex in the 2026 budget but blew Ghc38.6 million in a single day on Akwatia by-election and Ghc1m on rerun of a few polling stations in Ablekuma. Today, the same government is bent on blowing more millions in a needless rerun in Kpandai, where a legitimately elected MP is alive.

It’s shameful that this same government goes begging for Ghc1.77m worth of equipment from Germany. Why waste millions on by-elections/reruns and go begging to retool your security sector?”

Also, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, in an earlier post, alleged that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) blew Ghc38 million on the Akwatia by-election.

The lawmaker claimed the NDC-led government blew Ghc38 million under the pretext of security spending by the National Security and the Ghana Police Service.

Rev Ntim Fordjour further quizzed the NDC government on whether the GHC38 million spent on the Akwatia by-election could be the reason behind their greedy appetite for a by-election in Kpandai.

He boldly quizzed whether the NDC are looking for another opportunity to blow 38 million.

In a social media post on X, Rev Ntim Fordjour claimed, “NDC blew Ghc38 million on Akwatia by-election under the pretext of security spending by National Security and Ghana Police Service. Could 38million chop chop be the motivation behind their incessant greedy appetite to forcibly conduct a by-election in Kpandai?

Are they looking for another opportunity to blow 38 million?”

Some Ghanaians reacting to the claims made by Ntim Fordjour wrote, “I wonder if you check your comment section hours after posting. If you do, you would realise that nobody takes you guys seriously at all. It’s not about throwing and playing with numbers, drop documents to prove your point”.

“Were you in Ghana when Nana Addo blew over $58 m on that National Cathedral project? What’s wrong with you? Did you tell him to stop? Did you???”, a netizen quizzed Ntim Fordjour.

An X user added, “How much did you spend on shooting people at Ayawaso? Was anyone shot in Akwatia? The security of the people in Akwatia was paramount, and the President was never going to play politics with that. You can go ahead and play with our security”.

One more X user stated, “You’re always making allegations without any documents, and you think human beings will fall for this. Masa, be serious na you’re gradually losing your credibility as a Rev Pastor and a complete disgrace to Christianity. Don’t forget there’s more life after politics”.
