The former wife of the late former Deputy Minister of Finance, John Kumah, Apostle Lilian Kumah, has remarried.
In a viral video shared on social media, Apostle Lilian Kumah was captured together with her bridesmaids.
Apostle Lilian, in the video, stated she was the bride as she was spotted preparing to remarry.
The late Kumah’s wife, now Lilian Owusu, remarried Samuel Aryeequaye, a year after the deputy minister’s demise.
The netizen who shared the news wrote, “The late John Kumah’s wife with her bridesmaids.
I don’t know why people are having issues with her marrying; she has the right to marry since her husband is no more”.

Some other netizens under the post stated, “John Kumah was laid to rest on 18th May, 2024. Traditionally, after one year of mourning, she can move on. What is surprising, though, is how quickly everything unfolded. Within just 7 months after the one-year period, she entered a new relationship, got engaged, and remarried”.
“The same people will call her names if she were caught sleeping around. She made the right decision. Over 20 months is enough time to move on. God bless her new home”, a netizen added.
An X user added, “Super happy for her. Spouses need to find happiness again n move on when a spouse dies. What is dead will never rise. The living must continue”.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah, died on Thursday, 7 March 2024 at the age of 45, years old leaving behind six children.
Apostle Lilian Kumah, at the time, clarified that her late husband had been battling a terminal disease for nearly a year after it was discovered by his doctors in Germany.
“Why is it that someone (referring to Captain Smart) has been this bold to claim that he knows for a fact that a person like John Kumah who has served his country virtually all his life, was poisoned, while he was working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why should we sit down and not bring that person to book.
“If it is true that a person who is not dead but alive claims that he knows how my husband (John Kumah) died and that he was poisoned, and that person is still moving around for the past three weeks, it hurts me, it saddens me and I do not know how best to express my frustrations about these false claims by Captain Smart,” Apostle Lilian Kumah said.
“If there are laws in this country concerning such false claims, I think this is the time for the leadership of the land to bring that wicked person (Captain Smart) to book to prove his false claims and to point out the persons who were involved in the poisoning of my late husband,” Mrs. Kumah further stated.
Also, speaking at a Thanksgiving service to mark the first anniversary of the former deputy minister’s death, on Sunday, March 6, 2025, Apostle Lilian Kumah disclosed some of the challenges her family has faced since his demise.
She revealed her family has experienced deep disappointments, with trusted people turning their backs on them.
Apostle Lilian stated, “What is painful is the disappointment, the betrayals, the rejections. People we thought would be there — the way they turned their backs on us. The lies, the deceptions”.
“But through it all, God has shown us that He is even more of a husband, father, and brother than John. He has kept us, sustained us, and we are still moving on.
“So, today, we call all of us here to join us to say thank you to God. As much as we want to cherish the memory of my late husband, a brother and a father, we also want to show appreciation to God for the strength, in particular,” she added.
