Titus Glover, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on Ga Chiefs to speak up in the intervention of the demolition of traders’ stalls at La Pleasure Beach.

According to Titus Glover, traditional authorities in the Greater Accra Region’s silence on issues affecting their communities is worrying.

He argued that the chiefs must defend their people’s interests, especially when government decisions or actions threaten their livelihoods.

Speaking in an interview with Sammie Wiafe on Citi FM on Thursday, October, Titus Glover stated, “The chiefs in Greater Accra must not be mute. They shouldn’t be wearing clothes and attending government functions and all that”.

“This is the time that we, the youth, want to see our chiefs speaking and defending us. They must speak to defend their people. You can’t do this in Ashanti Region. At least, you engage the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, [and explain] the reason why you want to do that,” he said.

“But we the Gas, look at how they are treating us,” he said, urging the chiefs to take a more visible role.

“So I am really cautioning and appealing that they need to sit up and stand up. At least, when they speak, it goes far,” he added.

His comment follows La residents who hit the streets to protest the demolition of structures at La Pleasure Beach.

The residents of La are calling on government to intervene and help restore the livelihoods of affected traders and workers.

The protest dubbed “Aaagbe Wɔ Demo”, was organised by the Ga-Dangme Progressive Front to register the residents’ displeasure with the demolition exercise.

Titus Glover, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser, was at the event and appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene.

He stated, “We, the youth of the Ga-Dangme people, are saying that enough is enough. So we want to register our plea with the President to intervene and get the traders back to the place”.

Also, the NPP Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Bernard Oko Boye, has demanded the immediate resignation of the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah.

Speaking to journalists, Bernard Oko Boye stated, “The MP for La, she must resign today. How can you be the chief spokesperson for your people? Be a deputy minister for local government. You sit in government with these people, and then they’ll come and break it, and you come and cry that you don’t know anything about it”.

“If she doesn’t know anything about it, what it means is that her own government don’t respect her. If your government does not respect you, you have no business being in government,” he added.

“The hotel went to court with the beach operators, and the judge was handling the case. But because this government is a reckless government, the people took the matter away from court; the hotel, that they are not interested anymore. And then they went to the National Security in the night, to show them where power lies,” he said.

“Nobody in this government has spoken to the people of La and the beach people. Nobody. And they have come to lie that they have formed a committee,” he said.

“So, we are here to let the government know that Accra is angry, and not only angry, but we are also hungry,” he added.

Meanwhile, Stan Dogbe, the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations and leader of the Anti-Flood Taskforce, has broken his silence on the demolition exercise conducted along a section of the Labadi beachfront on Friday, October 2, 2026.

According to Stan Dogbe, the demolition exercise along a section of the Labadi beachfront was not part of the government’s flood mitigation efforts.

Stan Dogbe revealed that the exercise was carried out under the supervision of National Security at the request of Labadi Beach Hotel.

He stressed that the exercise was different from the work of the Anti-Flood Taskforce in areas including the Kpeshie Lagoon, East Legon Boundary Road, Oyarifa and behind Mayfair Estates.

Mr Dogbe explained that Labadi Beach Hotel raised concerns about the structures affecting the safety and tranquillity of the facility, as well as the experience of visitors.
