A man who was caught in a military uniform at the 37 Military Hospital had been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court.
The man has been identified as Joseph Baadah, a 34-year-old trader residing at Agbogbloshie in Accra.
Joseph Baadah was charged with using military accoutrements without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer.
He pleaded not guilty, with the court admitting him to bail of GH¢30,000 with sureties.
The man is set to reappear on March 24, 2026.
Joseph Baadah, in his caution statement, admitted he was not a soldier and told the court he wore the uniform to impress a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, told the court the man was spotted on February 8, 2026, at about 1800 hours, wearing a military camouflage uniform over a pair of slippers and reportedly without a rank, lanyard, name tag or shoulder badge.
The prosecution detailed that his appearance aroused suspicion, which led to him being confronted by the complainant, WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Joseph Baadah was arrested and taken to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for interrogation before being handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.
It will be recalled that Joseph Baadah was arrested by some personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) after attempting to impersonate a military officer.
According to the information gathered, the fake soldier was arrested after he attempted to meet a rotational nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.
Eyewitnesses detailed that the suspect’s appearance and conduct raised suspicion, leading to the personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) interrogating him.
Following the interogation the fake military officer alleged that he had served in the army for seven years.
When pressed for more details, he folded and could not mention his rank and was arrested.
Meanwhile, Dominic Nitiwul, a former Defence Minister and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has fingered the fake soldier busted at 37 Military Hospital for impersonating him on social media.
According to Dominic Nitiwul, the fake soldier created multiple Facebook and WhatsApp accounts using his name and identity to dupe several individuals under false pretences.
In a viral video shared on social media, Dominic Ntiwul was captured questioning the suspect.
Speaking in the viral video, Dominic Ntiwul stated, “Commnader this boy has used my name to dupe so many people; he creates Facebook and WhatsApp accounts to dupe people. The last one he did was to meet a boy at a Burma Camp. Just two weeks ago, the man came to my house. The boy is coming. I have asked him to come. When the soldiers were beating him, I sent his picture to the boy, and he confirmed that he was coming to collect his money.
About 100 people will come, because we speak the same ascent like him, he uses my name to dupe so many people”.
