Naa Yab Tolon Naa Sulemana, the Paramount Chief of the Tolon Traditional Area, has reportedly died.
The late Paramount Chief of Tolon cause of his death is not yet known.
His death comes as a major blow to the people of Tolon, with the community thrown into a state of mourning.
Naa Yab Tolon Naa Sulemana was enskinned as the Paramount Chief of Tolon in 2019 by the late Ndan Yaa Naa Bukali II and was a retired Major of the Ghana Army.
The late Paramount Chief of Tolon, before his enskinment, played an important role in the Dagbon peace process and was actively involved in efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in the traditional area.
Naa Yab Tolon Naa Sulemana was also a strong advocate for education and development in Dagbon, contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
The late Paramount Chief of Tolon’s death comes a month after His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II, the Overlord of Dagbon, passed away.
Yaa Naa Abukari II passed away as the 41st Yaa Naa following his enskinment on January 18, 2019.
The news of the Yaa Naa’s death has plunged the kingdom into mourning.
His passing was announced on Monday, July 13, by the Head of the Dagbon Kingmakers, Kuga Naa Adam Abdulai II, following the performance of customary rites at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
The announcement was preceded by the sounding of the traditional talking drum and the observance of customary rituals, signalling the death of the Ya-Na.
