Rashid Tanko-Computer, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Director of Elections and Information Technology, has said the NPP missed a glorious opportunity to give the NDC a run for its money.
The NDC man argued that the NPP failed to produce the kind of national executives he expected to see, adding that the outcome of the elections did not present a significant challenge to the NDC.
According to Rashid Tanko-Computer, the newly elected NPP leadership will not alter the NDC’s preparations or political strategy ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking in a media interview after the NPP elections on Saturday, October 3, Tanko-Computer stated, “They have missed a glorious opportunity to give us a run for our money because the kind of officers I was expecting them to bring, they didn’t. This will not even impact anything due to the way we choose our leaders.
“We have a style of choosing our leaders, and you saw how we did it in 2022 and then when we were going into the 2024 election.”
“Even currently, if you look at the officers that they have elected and our national officers currently, put them side by side and ask Ghanaians to vote for a party that will mean business and that will bring something on the table for them, and they will definitely go for the NDC.”
His comment follows, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on October 3, 2026, elected a new crop of national executives to oversee the party’s affairs following its National Delegates Conference.
Over 7,000 delegates from across the country participated in the conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
