The Bono East Regional Coordinator for Ken Agyapong’s campaign, Dr Stephen Appiagyei Donkor, has declared his support for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.
Reports suggest Dr Stephen Appiagyei Donkor made the declaration when he paid a courtesy call on Dr Bawumia on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Dr Stephen Appiagyei Donkor, the Chief Executive Officer of GIFAS Group of Companies and Managing Director of GLOBE TV, speaking during the visit, asserted that what the NPP needs now is total unity ahead of the 2028 elections.
He stated, “What the NPP needs now is total unity and cohesion to prosecute the 2028 agenda”.
“The primaries are behind us, and it is time for all of us to work together as one family. Our collective interest must be the victory of the party in the next general election”, he added.
Dr Appiagyei Donkor added, “I am fully committed to supporting Dr Mahamudu Bawumia because I believe this is the moment for all party faithful to put aside our differences and unite behind a common purpose. Together, we can build a stronger NPP and secure victory in 2028”.
Dr Bawumia, responding to the gesture, expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the pledge of support,
He asserted that this is an example of the unity the party needs moving forward.
“I love people like Dr Stephen Appiagyei Donkor who have the party at heart. When we place the interest of the NPP above personal ambitions, we become a stronger force capable of winning the confidence of Ghanaians”.
“I encourage you to prosecute your campaign without acrimony or insults. We should engage one another with dignity because bitterness and personal attacks have the potential to destroy the unity of our party. Let us focus on issues and work together for the progress of the NPP”, Dr Bawumia advised.
Meanwhile, Ralph Kwame Agyapong, a lawyer and brother of the maverick politician, Kennedy Agyapong, has claimed that his brother has quit the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Ralph Kwame Agyapong, the former Assin Central and NPP flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong has quit the NPP.
Ralph Kwame Agyapong further alleged that the people of Mamprusi are those behind the ‘Ken Must Go protest’.
Speaking on OKAY FM with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, Ralph Kwame Agyapong stated, “Kennedy Agyapong have quit the NPP. The people of Mamprusi are behind the protest. I can give you all of their contact numbers.
Those who want to protest have their numbers, and I can give them to you. He should stop so we all have peace of mind.
When I speak, it is Ken Agyapong who is talking”, he added.
Also, Ken Agyapong had earlier hinted at the possibility of breaking away from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Ken Agyapong, do the NPP think he is stupid to come and follow them again, warning that from July 2027, they will see action from him.
Speaking on Net 2 TV, the former NPP flagbearer aspirant, Ken Agyapong, stated, “It will not be long when you travel the way they respect you, then when you get here. Somebody like KOKA is saying my head has been operated on. He does not know what will happen to him. NPP people, are you ready? I am saying June, July 2027, me and you action in Ghana, you will be surprised; you think I am stupid.
You think I am stupid to come and follow you guys again. If you were to say ten sins of Ken Agyapong, you wait and see what will happen. I am not afraid of you; you wait and see. I have given you the time, June 2027, you will see action in this country”.
