Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, has officially announced her intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the constituency ahead of the 2028 elections.
On Thursday, October 22, 2026, in a statement issued, Adwoa Safo disclosed that the decision followed considerable reflection, consultations and engagements with party leadership and executives.
She noted that although she had earlier indicated her intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency, she reconsidered her decision, adding that representing the interests of her constituents in Parliament remained her priority.
Adwoa Safo revealed that her decision was decision to seek the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary ticket again was influenced by her longstanding relationship with constituents and her commitment to the constituency’s development.
“Earlier, I had indicated my intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency. However, upon deeper reflection, I have come to appreciate that there is no greater honour or responsibility than serving and representing the interests and aspirations of the over two hundred thousand constituents of our beloved constituency in Parliament,” she said.
“After considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad-based engagement with party leadership and executives and guided by my own conviction and unwavering loyalty to the Principles and Values of our political tradition, I formally announce my intention to once again present myself for consideration as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency when the party announces the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary primaries,” Adwoa Safo stated.
“While much remains to be done, I remain committed to building on the progress we made together and working tirelessly towards a better future for Dome-Kwabenya,” she added.
Earlier, rumours emerged that Sarah Adwoa Safo was lacing up her boots to contest the Dome Kwabenya seat again in the 2028 election.
A post by Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr alleged that Adwoa Safo was coming back with the message “Reclaim, Rebrand, and Recapture.”
Sara Adwoa Safo, who was the MP for Dome-Kwabenya before the 2024 election, lost her seat after the NPP delegates voted for Mike Ocquaye Junior after she avoided her responsibility in Parliament.
Mike Ocquaye Junior, who was voted as the party’s Parliamentary candidate, however, lost the seat in the 2024 election to the NDC’s Elikplim Akurugu.
Meanwhile, Mike Quaye Jnr, the former parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Dome-Kwabenya, has told Adwoa Safo that three terms as MP are enough.
According to Mike Ocquaye Jnr, he heard Adwoa Safo was saying she was not going to run again and that she had other higher ambitions.
Speaking on Accra-based TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, August 22, 2026, Mike Aaron Quaye Junior said, “We are observing, but most importantly, what I have heard her saying is that she was not going to run again and that she had other higher ambitions.
Dome Kwabenya is a place where we are building a lot of bridges, and most importantly, she had served the community for three terms.
If you look at the history of Dome Kwabenya, she has served as the longest-serving MP, so there may be people who may want to come up with such a suggestion”.
He added, “But that’s her decision; three terms is enough, and most people will not have expected that there would be a post that she is coming. Nevertheless, as I said, we have not heard from her, and what we have heard is that she was not running again.
So we will cross that bridge when we get there. As to the shivers down my spine, I will not answer to that. What we have done, we can do before,” he said.
