The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) festive-season crackdown code-named “Operation White Ember” has led to the arrest of 72 suspects in Eastern and Greater Accra regions.

NACOC “Operation White Ember” targeted Madina Redco Flats, Zongo Junction, and the railway slums around Airport City in the Greater Accra Region.

In the Eastern Region, Mamfe and Tutu were stormed by NACOC officers.

72 suspects were arrested during the operations.

On Friday, December 26, NACOC Operation White Ember also stormed the Tema Community One and Teshie Nungua additional arrests were made with narcotic substances seized.

Also, NACOC operations were carried out at shopping malls and beaches across the capital.

A netizen added, “Something big is going on in Ghana”.

One more X user added, “It’s like a massive cleanup going on all over. State agencies working is a remarkable thing to see. It should not be smoke in our eyes”.

In related news, the Regional Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, has announced that the Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 132 suspects across several operations in Accra. 

Superintendent Juliana Obeng detailed that the swoop led to the retrieval of various exhibits, including narcotic substances, suspected stolen items, and motorcycles.

Speaking during a press conference in Accra on December 23, Superintendent Juliana Obeng detailed, “The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a total of 132 suspects and retrieved various exhibits, including narcotic substances, suspected stolen items, and motorcycles, during a series of special swoop and motor operations conducted across several jurisdictions in the metropolis as part of sustained efforts to combat crime during this Christmas and beyond.”

“On Thursday, the 18th of December 2025, the police personnel from Kotobabi District under the Nima Division conducted a swoop at Alojo near Merciful Hotel Annex, where the operation led to the arrest of four suspects, details of which will be shared with you,” she said.

“In a related operation on Sunday, December 21, personnel of the Railways District Command of the Accra Central Division conducted swoops at identified criminal hideouts within the division that also led to the arrest of 15 persons,” she stated.

“On Friday, December 19, a motor traffic operation was also conducted around East Legon and the Airport Division. The operation aimed at reducing crime and road traffic accidents, which resulted in the arrest of 36 motorbikes, and riders with minor offences were issued with warning letters, while others are being processed before court,” she said.

“There are other operations that were held again within the jurisdiction, and details of all of these will be shared with you, and this forms part of our commitment to make sure that we all have a crime-free celebration during this month and beyond,” she added.
