The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of 56 suspects in a Christmas Special Operations.
In a social media post shared by the Police, they revealed the arrest follows a series of intelligence-led operations across the Western North Region.
According to the Police post, the Christmas Special Operations were carried out in multiple towns and villages in the Western North Region.
The Police highlighted that the operation aims at improving security and maintaining law and order during the festive season.
Sefwi-Bodi, Asawinsos, Dadieso, Juaboso, Akontombra, Sefwi Debiso, Enchi, Sefwi Bekwai, Donyina, and Bidiem were the targeted areas for the Police Christmas Special Operations.
In related news, three suspected armed robbers have been killed following a shootout with officers of the Ghana Police Service in Adjei-Kojo.
According to a Police statement, the Tema Regional Police Command thwarted an attempted robbery at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo District of the Ashaiman Division.
The police statement revealed that the attempted robbery occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025.
The Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team received a tip-off around 1:30 a.m regading the ongoing robbery at a private residence, and a team was immediately dispatched.
Arriving at the scene, the Police encountered six young men wearing face masks and hoodies with machetes, guns and other weapons.
The Police disclosed the suspect opened fire on the Officer also returning fire in self-defence, leading to three suspects sustaining gunshot wounds and later passing away.
The other three suspects also sustain gunshot wounds but manage to bolt from the scene.
Several exhibits were retrieved from the area, including three face masks, three machetes, and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike.
The three suspects’ bodies have since been sent to the Police Hospital for preservation, identification, and autopsy.
In the meantime, the Police have placed hospitals and health facilities in the area on a red alert for any male persons reporting with gunshot wounds.
