The Ghana Police Service has announced they have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Circle phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere.
The Police disclosed that the suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai, and were arrested following investigations by the Missing Persons Unit.
The Police further disclosed that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on 19th September 2026 in his Honda Civic vehicle and did not return.
According to Police investigations, the victim was lured to suspect Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by suspect Sarah Osei Adams.
The police revealed that Nana Yaw Kyere was hit with a metallic object by Philip Tefe after a confrontation broke out, sustaining injuries in the attack but was still alive.
They further disclosed that he was subsequently left unattended in another room where the suspects had taken him after the attack and later died from his injuries.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, the Police stated, “The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on 22nd September 2026,
The suspects, Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai, were arrested following investigations by the Missing Persons Unit.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on 19th September 2026 in his Honda Civic vehicle and did not return. Investigations revealed that the victim was lured to suspect Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by suspect Sarah Osei Adams,
Both suspects later confessed to their involvement and indicated that suspect Philip Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries. The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended and later died.
Investigations further established that the victim’s body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on 20th September 2026, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on 21st September 2026
The victim’s biological mother and an uncle identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on 24th September 2026.
The Police have also retrieved the victim’s Phone 12, which suspect Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GHe100.00. The buyer, Sunday Omeie, has been cautioned and retained for dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further investigations led to the arrest of suspect Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which is believed to have been used to convey the body, has also been impounded.
The three suspects are currently in Police custody and will be put before the court as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case”.
The Police statement follows Nana Yaw Kyere’s death, which has become a subject of widespread discussion on social media following reports surrounding his disappearance and subsequent death.
Reports suggest the incident came to public attention on September 20, 2026, when reports and images began circulating online suggesting that the phone dealer, who operated around the Circle area in Accra, had gone missing.
Meanwhile, the sister of the late Ghanaian phone dealer, Nana Yaw Kyere, popularly known as Dinero, Maame Sika Edem, has debunked claims that her brother died while chasing a woman.
Maame Sika Edem warned the public to be cautious about spreading false allegations concerning her brother.
According to the sister, Terry Yaw Kyere was not a troublesome person and had gone to Teshie in response to a phone delivery request when he was allegedly attacked.
Speaking in a video shared on TikTok, Maame Sika Edem stated, “The guy is not a rascal. They called him to say they wanted a delivery, so he was not going to chase any woman. It was a plot that they planned against him. He did not go on a ‘Salomey’; he has a house.
“So, those spreading bad news about him should stop. He is an Ewe man, so those making false allegations should be careful,” she said.
