France Football, organiser of the Ballon d’Or, has announced the final rankings for the 2026 Ballon d’Or following Monday night’s ceremony in London, with Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane claiming the top spot.
Harry Kane finished ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé, who placed second, while Barcelona teenage sensation Lamine Yamal secured third position; Rodri finished fourth, with Argentine superstar Lionel Messi completing the top five.
PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ranked sixth, followed by teammate Ousmane Dembélé in seventh; Manchester City striker Erling Haaland placed eighth, while Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise took ninth.
However, World Cup winner and Champions League winner with Spain and PSG Fabián Ruiz finished at 10.
Other notable positions included Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham in 11th place and Vinícius Júnior in 17th. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes finished 27th, while Senegalese forward Sadio Mané shared 29th place with Arsenal defender William Saliba.
The final standings reflect the performances of the world’s leading footballers during the 2025/26 season, with Kane emerging ahead of a competitive field featuring established superstars and rising talents.
Kane’s remarkable performances during the 2025-26 campaign proved decisive, with the England captain scoring 73 goals across all competitions for club and country.
His extraordinary scoring record also secured him the European Golden Shoe, recognising him as Europe’s most prolific league goalscorer.
At Bayern Munich, Kane played a central role in a memorable season that ended with the German giants lifting both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal trophies.
Kane also made a significant impact in the Champions League, finding the net 14 times before Bayern’s campaign ended in the semi-finals against eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Only Real Madrid’s Mbappé, who scored 15 goals, finished ahead of him in the competition’s scoring charts.
At the international stage, Kane led England to third place at the World Cup, their best finish since winning the tournament in 1966, scoring six goals during the competition, including two crucial late strikes against DR Congo.
Meanwhile, Kane remains England’s all-time leading goalscorer and has since increased his international tally to 91 goals.
Harry Kane, after winning the Ballon d’Or, stated, “I am almost speechless. Being here in London is so special. It looked like a good omen for me.
“To Vinnie [Kompany]… I know he’s at home, or still in the hospital. I wish you well, and I hope this has given you a bit of energy.
“Since I’ve been with you, I have improved as a player, a person and a leader. I am glad to be bringing this trophy back to Bayern.
“To all my England teammates, we had a special year. It wasn’t the perfect year, but we had a lot of good moments. It was an honour to captain and lead you.
“I want to say thank you to Tottenham Hotspur as well. I wouldn’t be where I am here today without Tottenham, for sure. You allowed me to live my dream. All the ups and downs along with way on that journey has led me to this moment.”
