The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Yohunu, has issued a stern warning once again to criminals in Ghana.
The IGP issued a stern warning to criminals who may attempt to evade arrest.
IGP stressed that the Police will pursue criminals regardless of where they seek refuge.
“Let me once again make it clear to all criminals out there that the Ghana Police Service under my leadership will sustain this and no matter where you run, no matter where you hide, we will come for you”, he stated.
He made this known following the Ghana Police Service dismantling several robbery syndicates operating across four regions of the country, with several suspects arrested.
The Police disclosed that the syndicates were uncovered in the Greater Accra, Western, Savannah and Northern Regions as part of intensified efforts by the Police to clamp down on violent crime.
IGP Yohuno reiterated that the ongoing operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements and making communities safer will be sustained.
He further encouraged police officers involved in the operations to continue carrying out their duties with dedication and professionalism.
In other news, the IGP has promoted Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Police Headquarters to the rank of Chief Inspector.
The IGP promoted the officer in recognition of his bravery during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
His promotion follows Inspector Atubra’s intervention during the fire, which broke out at the Aboso Main Lorry Station on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The fire engulfed a number of shops at the station, putting people within the affected area at risk; however, Inspector Atubra, who was reportedly the first police officer to arrive at the scene, immediately moved to assist people trapped in the area.
Inspector Atubra’s actions attracted commendation from people who witnessed the incident and subsequently led to a recommendation for his promotion.

The fire outbreak occurred on 26th August 2026, when some shops at the Aboso Main Lorry Station were engulfed in flames, resulting in damage to properties.
Inspector Atubra, who was the first Police officer to arrive at the scene, immediately took action to assist people trapped in the affected area and helped to evacuate the victims to safety.
His actions were highly commended by people who witnessed the incident, leading to a recommendation for his promotion in recognition of his courage, quick response and efforts to save life and property.
The promotion underscores the Police Administration’s commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate exceptional courage, dedication and commitment to duty”.
