President of the United States Donald Trump has announced a fraud whistleblower incentive program offering tipsters a 1% commission on uncovered fraud amounts.
According to Donald Trump, whistleblowers who expose fraud can receive up to $10 million for a $1 billion recovery.
Trump made the announcement in the Oval Office alongside Vice President JD Vance and independent journalist Nick Shirley.
The move forms part of the Trump administration’s move to intensify efforts to tackle the misuse of public funds.
Speaking in a video shared by Fox News, Donald Trump stated, “Here is what we are going to be doing. If you turn somebody in and you, let’s say, report, and you find $1 billion, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%. It’s a lot of money.
And if it’s 10 billion, 200 billion, 400 billion, we’re giving a 1% commission to that person. You have to prove that you were the one and prove that it was you”.
Some netizens reacting to Trump’s announcement stated, “We know exactly what to look for now.
Let’s expose every criminal scumbag.
This 1% commission is a great idea.
Incentivise passive neighbours to stop ignoring the criminals around them, wake up, and get active in exposing and rooting out crime!
Strong move + it’ll get results”.
Another X user added, “Brilliant idea. If a citizen exposes major fraud and saves taxpayers millions, why shouldn’t they share in the recovery? Alberta should study a program like this. Give people a real incentive to uncover waste and fraud, and make the system work for taxpayers”.
A netizen added, “I would like to report the federal government is defrauding us to the tune of about $2.4 trillion a year via the 16th amendment income tax.
I will gladly donate my one per cent commission back towards the federal debt”.
However, back home in Ghana, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has criticised the John Mahama-led government for allowing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) into the country to arrest individuals allegedly involved in fraud.
Describing Ghana as a country that is not serious, Shatta Wale questioned why the FBI’s involvement in tackling fraud appeared to be a major issue in Ghana when similar activities occur in other countries.
He argued that he has been in music for about 25 years; I have bought a Rolls Royce, a Lamborghini, all from my fucking music. And someone will say Shatta Wale is committing fraud.
He explained that he is not a snitch and, therefore, would not give information about his friends whom he claims are fraudsters.
Speaking during his ShattaFest 2026 show at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 17, Shatta Wale stated, “Ghana is a fucking country. I have been doing music for about 25 years; I have bought a Rolls Royce, a Lamborghini, all from my fucking music. And someone will say Shatta Wale is committing fraud.
“Let me tell you today that I have a lot of fraudsters as my friends, but I am not a snitch to snitch on them. And the country isn’t even good, so if you would be a fraudster, continue,” he said.
“I do dream of prison, and it’s because of music; they jailed me, and when I think about that thing, I do get angry. If the government wants to fight you, I will ensure that we both will fight the government.
“It’s about time our old men who run the system and think they are in the offices should try and help us; otherwise, we will help ourselves and look for our own president who will rule Ghana.”
Shatta Wale also slammed the Mahama government for allowing the FBI to arrest some Ghanaians over alleged fraudulent activities.
He further urged the Ghanaian youth to look for money no matter what it takes.
“We know plenty of countries where things are going on, but only in Ghana, they are bringing the FBI, wossop? If you had done something better for us, do you think boys would commit fraud?
“Badman, wherever you are, look for your money, protect yourselves, and when they come, brush them. If the government won’t find work for us, we will look for one,” he added.
