Update: Police Inspector arrested for defiling his daughter allegedly impregnated and infected her with HIV

More updates have emerged following the arrest of Police Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie, who was arrested and interdicted by the Ghana Police Service for defiling and committing incest with his 14-year-old biological daughter.

According to the young girlโ€™s mother, the Police Inspector reportedly impregnated her daughter, forcing her to have an abortion, and also infected her with HIV.

Speaking on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, the young girlโ€™s mother detailed who lodged a complaint on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, stating, โ€œWhen I reported the case, the police gave us a Hospital form, so I took her to Koforidua Regional Hospital for testing, and we found out that her blood had been infected.

The young girl told me, โ€˜Mum, if there is an infection in my blood, then it is my fatherโ€™ โ€œWhen we did the test, they said she had been infected with HIVโ€.

โ€œShe told me the father always takes some medicine at night while concealing the bottle with a black polytheneโ€, she added.

It will be recalled that Police Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie has been interdicted by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

According to the Police command, the Police inspector stationed at Mamponteng District in the Ashanti Region is being investigated by DOVVSU.

The police statement disclosed that the complaint was lodged on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter.

In a statement issued on Saturday, May 9, the Ashanti North Regional Police Command read, โ€œThe Ashanti North Regional Police Command wishes to inform the general public that an alleged defilement/incest case involving Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie, currently stationed at Mamponteng District in the Ashanti Region, is under active investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Agona District.

The complaint was lodged on 4th November, 2025, by one Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua/ER on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, alleging that the victim had been sexually abused by her biological father.

Following the report, the victim was referred for medical examination at a Government health facility to aid investigations.

On 20/02/2026, the Inspector reported himself at the Agona DOVVSU, where he was arrested and a statement on cautioned obtained from him. Suspect denied the allegations and was later released on enquiry bail to be reporting periodically.

The Inspector is currently being interdicted to pave the way for further investigation.
