Video – Fishmonger threatens to curse two Ghanaian men and a white man over dollar scam worth GHS1600

NewsVideo - Fishmonger threatens to curse two Ghanaian men and a white man over dollar scam worth GHS1600

A fishmonger has threatened to invoke curses on two Ghanaian men and a white man after they allegedly purchased all her fish worth GHS1,600 using fake US dollar notes.

According to the fishmonger, the three individuals visited her stall and decided to buy all the fish on her table, amounting to GHS1,600. She said they paid with dollar notes, which she initially accepted.

She added that she later travelled to Tema Community One to exchange the dollars into cedis, only to be informed that the notes were counterfeit.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, the fishmonger lamented, saying, “One white and two Ghanaian people bought my fish on the table for 1600 cedis. After packing the smoked fish for them, they told me to take US dollars.

I told them I was not going to take them, but they insisted that the money was genuine. After taking the money, I visited Community One to change the money. I was told the money was fake.

Ghanaians, have you seen two black Ghanaians and a white man defrauding me, so if I go and curse them, is it a sin?

Some netizens reacting to the sad news stated, “I pity her ignorance.. But you know $$$ is not a legal tender, so its her mistake. Though they were dishonest. She shouldn’t have accepted, she should try another place just to be certain..!!!!”

“Ignorance and greed don’t mix. Wow 😳… imagine buying all the fish just to end up cursed over fake dollars! Ghana really keeps life spicy, next time, check the notes before you empty the table”, another netizen added.

Another X user added, “Accepting dollars with this small cedi payment was a mistake, the local market traders should look sharp not to accept any dollar payments in local market areas simple..maame ko bo nɛ dua wai”.

One more Ghanaian lamented, “This is a wild, imagine hustling all day, only for someone to pull a scam like this. The audacity to try and pay with fake dollars is unbelievable. But honestly, invoking curses? That’s next-level energy. Moral of the story: always check your money before celebrating a ‘big win’ and karma has a funny way of catching up!”

Additionally, a netizen added, “You thought you had reached when they decided to pay you in dollars when you should have insisted on taking cedis. Over reach over Sabi see where e reach”.
