A viral video has emerged on social media after the basic school in Ghana, Our Day, yesterday, December 19, 2025.
In the viral video shared on X, a basic school teacher was seen venting his anger over a gift he was given by one of his students.
The Teacher vented out for receiving koobi and kako as Our Day gift from his student.
Speaking in the viral video, the teacher stated, “Our day gift that a student is giving a teacher koobi and kako and Akosombo fish”.
Some X user reacting to the viral video on X wrote, “Ah na you go get koobi as our day gift hw3. You know, say koobi dey get plane ticket dey travel abroad, don’t go there. It’s a precious gift”
“Every day I say that Africans are really ungrateful, it’s not like I didn’t pay the fees for my kids to attend the school”, a netizen added.
One X user added, “Why do you think you have the right to tell people the gift they can give? I have said this before; if you are a teacher, nobody owes you any “gifts” anywhere. You are paid a salary. Do your job, get paid and shut the hell up. If a parent or someone out of their kindness gifts you something, be grateful. Too many entitled people in our society”.
“These are not teachers; these are just ungrateful people who just decided to do this work because there’s absolutely no other option than that. If not, why would you be making a mockery of someone’s kindness to you?”, an X user added.
A netizen added, “What’s with the entitlement from these teachers? The parents are under no obligation to give you guys presents, they are just showing appreciation for what you’ve done for their kids, so where does this stinking entitlement”.
An X user also called for school children to stop gifting Teachers saying, “Can we stop at the fact that children have to give a present to their teacher? I have never heard about things like that in Europe, btw. This is shocking”.
A netizen also fires parents, saying, “Some parents aren’t just serious. How would you buy Bel Cola for a teacher who has taught your child for 15 weeks? It isn’t by force to give; some gifts are insults”.
One last X user added, “Something you can’t buy with your salary. You won’t appreciate it too. Profession with the most stingy people, yet they’re quick to shade what people can afford”.
Meanwhile, our day is the end-of-term custom for basic schools in Ghana, where the students come to school with their special foods and drinks and also present their teachers with some gifts before their break from school activities.
