Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has endorsed Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who is aspiring to become the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Officer.
According to Akufo-Addo, he is confident Dennis Miracles Aboagye will become the next NPP National Communications Officer.
The former president also called on various factions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put aside their differences and unite behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Akufo-Addo stressed that unity among the party’s rank and file would be crucial to the NPP’s efforts to return to government.
He urged those who emerge as national executives from the upcoming internal elections to work together and bring all factions on board.
Speaking when Dennis Miracles Aboagye paid a courtesy call on him, Akufo-Addo stated, “The elections breed competition; when the die is cast on October 1, and I am confident you will win, you have to bring everybody on board and unite all factions in this party behind our flagbearer to make sure he gets onto the seat in 2029”.
“To a large extent, whether we prevail or not will depend on the work that you are going to do”.
He urged the NPP to seize the opportunity in 2028 and work to return to office.
Meanwhile, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has said if elected as the party’s Director of Communications, he will exploit the complacency within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2028 elections.
Speaking after filing his nomination to contest the position, Miracles Aboagye pledged to strengthen the NPP’s communications machinery and position the party for the 2028 general elections.
According to Miracles Aboagye, the NDC’s confidence in its electoral prospects could create an opening for the NPP to regain ground.
“That complacency is what we need. We are going to take advantage of it,” he said.
“We are going to command the narratives,” he said.
Miracles Aboagye further disclosed that his experience serving the NPP for about 23 years will be an asset to the party’s communications efforts.
“For 23 years of my very young age, all I have done is to serve this party,” he said.
He disclosed that his approach would combine confidence, respect and passion, rather than unnecessary confrontation.
“We are going to do it with a lot of respect. We are going to do it with confidence,” he said.
“Most importantly, we are going to do what we are going to do to command every space,” he said.
Also, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the party’s primary objective is to regain political power in the 2028 elections.
According to Dr Bawumia, the August 15 regional elections should not be viewed as the end of the party’s internal activities but rather as part of a broader process aimed at creating a stronger and more effective political organisation capable of winning back power in the 2028 election.
He also reminded the executives that their election should be viewed as a responsibility rather than merely a political achievement.
Dr Bawumia stated, “The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone towards winning 2028. As a party, we have been engaged in an exercise of reorganisation. We have had our polling station elections, our electoral area elections, we have had our constituency elections, and we have now had our regional elections.
“We will culminate that process on October 10 with the national elections and therefore, at the end of that, the party will be in a good position to have that vehicle that drives us to victory in 2028. So there is a lot of work ahead of us.”
