The video footage from the Lawson TV studio shows officers entering the set, interacting with the suspect in a basketball jersey, and then handcuffing him while the host and others observe during the broadcast.

Maame Frimpomaa in the video stated, “Ghana Police Service, I salute you, family, the police service have come, I am saying the Ghana Police Service I trust them. Stand up; this man is 51 years old and raped a 14-year-old girl; handcuff him.

Ghana Police Service, I salute you. Thank you, producer follow up. Shame on you. A 51-year-old man can sleep with a 14-year-old girl after we talk, you claim she agreed to it”.

Reacting to the viral video, Bridget Otoo commended the Ghana Police Service, arguing that it is exactly how these cases should go.

According to the Presidential staffer, one cannot come on live radio and admit such ill acts and expect no further actions.

In her post, Bridget Otoo wrote, “Exactly how these cases should go!!! You can’t come on radio and admit such ill acts and expect giggles!”.

Meanwhile, the event underscores media-led sting operations as Ghana addresses child sexual exploitation.

In related news, the mother of Priscilla, a 14-year-old, has narrated how her daughter was allegedly drugged and raped.

She confirmed the incident, stating that two young men in their area reportedly drugged her with weed-infused toffee before assaulting her and recording and sharing the act.

According to the mother, she only learned of the incident after returning home from town, adding that her older son had to confront the suspects, but the situation quickly escalated, and he was stabbed with a broken bottle before the attackers fled the neighbourhood.

Speaking in a viral video shared by SIKAOFFICIAL, the woman narrated, “My name is Dedee. I was not at home. In the evening, when I came back from the market, I was informed by my husband, who said my brother showed the video to him, that my daughter had been gang raped,” she narrated in Ga.

“So, I asked my daughter whether what had happened was true, but she denied it. Then I called on my brother to come and ask her,” she said.

“She opened up to my brother and confirmed the incident. My husband also confirmed it. Then my son came in and asked what had happened. He was briefed, then he decided to meet the guys who did that to his sister,” she said.

“When he confronted them, they asked him what he could do to them. Shortly after that, they started fighting, and my brother separated them. I went into the room.

“My son was called outside with some elderly people. While talking to them, one of the guys who raped his sister came with a broken bottle and stabbed him multiple times,” she recounted.
