The late Joseph was a member of the Ghana United Methodist Church in the Bronx, where he served as an organist and was known for his musical talent, caring nature and warm personality.

A tribute shared online by Stiry Bee described him as a kind-hearted individual who made a lasting impression on those who knew him.

The tribute also highlighted his willingness to support others, his love for family and friends, and the meaningful relationships he built within his community.

“Whether through a thoughtful word, a listening ear, or simply being present when someone needed him, he made a meaningful impression on the people around him. Joseph embraced life with enthusiasm and authenticity. He found happiness in spending time with family, enjoying good company, and pursuing the dreams he held for his future. His generosity and steady presence helped build relationships that his loved ones will continue to cherish.

“As family and friends reflect on his life, the ordinary moments they shared may become especially meaningful. These memories will remain part of the story of a young man whose absence is deeply felt,” the tribute stated.

Joseph Owusu’s death has left family, friends and members of the Ghanaian church community mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his kindness, devotion and the positive impact he had on those around him.

The development comes just days after the 15-year-old Ghanaian boy, identified as Javits Frimpong, was shot dead in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

According to reports, Javits Frimpong was shot near the intersection of Crotona Place and East 171st Street shortly before 9:30 a.m. while reportedly on his way to school.

The information gathered suggests the teenager was shot in the abdomen and was found in and out of consciousness.

Police are searching for three male suspects, but no arrests have been made. The motive remains unclear.

Reports suggest the suspects, who were last seen wearing black clothing, were fleeing down Fulton Avenue, with two of them wearing surgical masks.

Meanwhile, Surveillance video shows a person fleeing the scene who matched a description released by police.

The video showed someone wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a mask.

According to authorities, the victim ran about a block after being shot before collapsing. He later died at a hospital.

Meanwhile, Cardi B, an American rapper, has weighed in on the killing of 15-year-old Ghanaian student Javits Frimpong.

According to Cardi B, the Javits Frimpong tragedy is the reason she would never raise a child in the Bronx or in parts of New York.

In a social media post, Cardi B, who grew up in the Bronx, said she would not raise a child in the neighbourhoods she named, or in the city’s public schools.

Speaking in the viral video, Cardi B stated, “Jarvis is the reason why I would never raise a kid in the Bronx, Harlem, Washington Heights. I will never raise a kid in a New York public school. I will never raise a kid in the hood. Let me tell you why. It is a game of survival to live in those places”.

“Even the kids that killed that boy, what is wrong with you? How do you wake up in the morning and say ‘today is a good day to kill someone who has not wronged or attacked me’?” she asked.

She further advised, “If you are in New York and you want to have kids, move out because the kids there are so nasty,” she said.
