Truck crashes into salon

Four people have been confirmed dead after a truck crashed into a hairdressing salon at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.

Reports suggest the tragic incident occurred on Saturday, January 17, around 4 p.m when a heavy-duty truck lòst control and cràshed into a container.

The crash resulted in the death of the owner of the salon, her two children, and one customer, with four other people sustaining injuries.

A victim in a critical condition was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital with others. receiving treatment at the Kumawu Government Hospital.

According to reports, this is the second time a truck belonging to the same construction company working on the Kumawu roads has crashed into a structure.

Prevoiusly a truck belonging to the same construction company crashed into a mosque, though no casualties were recorded.

Meanwhile, residents of the Kumawu community are demanding urgent action to prevent a recurrence.

In related news, 34 people have sustained injuries after a KIA passenger bus overturned on the Accra–Kumasi highway.

Reports suggest the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, January 17, 2026, on the Asuboi on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.

The KIA Grandbird 34-seater bus is said to have overturned and landed on its side in the middle of the highway.

According to the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, they received a distress call about 0255 hours and promptly dispatched a seven-member rescue team.

The team was led by Antwi Forson, the Station Officer II.

When the personnel of the GNFS got to the scene, the driver was trapped in the wreckage, and other passengers already been evacuated by first responders and nearby residents.

The driver was rescued after the fire crew used extrication equipment, but sustained severe injuries from the accident.

The passengers with varying degrees of minor injuries were transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention, with no fatalities recorded.

However, the front section of the bus was damaged as a result of the crash.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially determined.
