“OSP is not investigating me, I was only invited to clarify a comment I made” – Kpebu

News“OSP is not investigating me, I was only invited to clarify a comment I made” – Kpebu

Martin Kpebu, a Private legal practitioner, has broken his silence on his visit to the Office of the Special Prosecutor following the OSP invitation.

According to Martin Kpebu, the OSP is not investigating him, but was only invited to clarify a comment he made.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on Wednesday, Martin Kpebu stated, “To be clear, I’m not being investigated for any offence at all. But rather, I’ve made some comments, and he says I should come and clarify. Putting it blankly, they want some evidence to back it to help the corruption fight”.

Lawyer Kpebu further vociferously stated that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng should have already resigned over his failure in the Ken Ofori-Atta case.

He added, “By now, the Special Prosecutor himself should have resigned, the fact that finaly came to confess on the November 5, that before Ofori-Atta travelled he Kissi Agyebeng intercepted the letter Ofori-Atta wrote to incoming Chief of Staff and the outgoing one then he ran to the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), but he didn’t get help, then ran to National Security, but didn’t get help there either, and finally he ran to the Ghana Immigration Service and still didn’t get help. This is a big indictment of these institutions.

“Worst of all, it didn’t occur to the man who had done the ‘Ankwanuma’ press conference that he should blow the whistle.”

He added that OSP should have “informed the people of Ghana through a press conference and say ‘Hey, people of Ghana, I’ve clear evidence Mr Ofori-Atta is about to travel out of Ghana and I’ve gone to these institutions, but they are not helping me.’”

“‘Hey, people of Ghana, I’ve clear evidence Mr Ofori-Atta is about to travel out of Ghana and I’ve gone to these institutions, but they are not helping me.’ You know how many people would have taken steps to the airport to prevent him from travelling?”

Lawyer Kpebu noted that, as part of the ORAL team at the time, they were working and had people with authority who could have helped the OSP.

“We had security capos like Kofi Boakye was on the ORAL team as well. And there were people in the back room”, He added.

Also, Martin Kpebu has boldly told the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, that his game as a double agent is over.

According to Martin Kpebu, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is engaged in double agent work, which Ghanaians cannot continue to deal with.

He boldly claimed that Kissi Agyebeng appears to be working for the people of Ghana, and at the same time serving the former finance minister Ofori-Atta’s interest.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, Martin Kpebu stated, “This double agent work, we cannot continue to deal with double agency. You are either working for the people of Ghana or you are not. But to be working, to appear to be working for the people of Ghana, and also be serving Ofori-Atta’s interest, we can’t accept that,” he said.

He added, “Because he said, ‘I intercepted the letter, I intercepted the letter,’ and you sat down and you allowed him to go.”
