Abubakar Sedik, the District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West, is dead.
Reports suggest the Ahafo Ano South West DCE died after a short illness.
According to the information gathered, Abubakar Sedik died on Sunday, September 20, after returning to Mankranso from a stakeholder engagement meeting.
The meeting was between leaders of trader groups and the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, on the completion of the Kejetia Phase Two project in Kumasi.
Reports suggest the DCE complained of body pains after returning from the meeting and was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where he died.
The late Ahafo Ano South West DCE, before he was appointed DCE for Ahafo Ano South West, was the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections.
Abubakar Sedik was among the NDC candidates who challenged the parliamentary election results in court after the party maintained that it had won the election, despite the New Patriotic Party candidate, Elvis Dapaah, being declared the winner.
The late Abubakar Sedik was recently in the news after some members of the NPP accused him of spearheading an attempted demolition of a school facility at Mankranso to pave the way for the construction of a 24-hour economy market.
In the meantime, NDC supporters and some residents have gathered at the NDC party office at Mankranso following the news of Mr Sedik’s death.
