Criminalising paternity fraud will have huge ramifications – A Plus warned

0

Prince Benson Mankotam, a private Legal practitioner, has told Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus, that his move to criminalise paternity fraud will have huge ramifications.

The lawyer argued that paternity fraud in Ghana is currently not a criminal offence, adding that it can be pursued as a civil wrong through claims of misrepresentation and compensation.

Mankotam detailed that under civil processes, a person who believes they have been deceived into assuming fatherhood can sue to recover expenses and damages and warned that shifting the issue into criminal law could create serious complications.

According to the lawyer, criminal prosecutions would require the state to prove intentional deception, which he believes will be difficult in many real-life situations.

Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy, Mankotam argued, “In Ghana, as we speak, paternity fraud is not a crime; rather, it can be a civil wrong. If you are going the criminal route, what you say is that… it should be punishable by imprisonment or by fine, and that has huge ramifications”.

“I don’t think that anyone can say that she is pregnant for another person she has never slept with before,” he said.

He further explained, “I know people who have been pregnant and, because of their encounters with more than one person, they are unable to determine which of them is the actual father”.

The private Legal practitioner also questioned whether the proposal would gain support in Parliament, noting that it could be viewed as an attempt to suppress women, which could carry political effects.

“No politician will agree to such an arrangement… because politicians only think about elections,” he added.

The Gomoa Central MP’s proposed legislation to Parliament has sparked public debate over whether such a law would be healthy for Ghanaian society.

Kwame A Plus plans to lay a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament to criminalise paternity fraud.

The Private Member’s Bill is proposing jail terms for women who knowingly mislead men into raising children who are not biologically theirs, and possibly introducing mandatory DNA testing after birth.

Kwame A Plus, speaking on United Showbiz, explained what he sought to achieve with the bill, saying, “Any child that is born needs to know his father and mother. I know of a man who has birthed 5 children. He is now 70 years just recently learned that four of the children are not his, just one was his.

I know of someone also, who was taking his children abroad, when they went for a DNA test, the woman went to the lawyers and said she was not going to do any DNA test, and she disclosed that the children are not the man’s. The man was abroad, thinking he had four children here and was spending on them”.

He added, “Yesterday I heard Kofi Bentil say when the law is passed, it means we are going to crimalised adultry as a crime, we are not trying to prevent anyone from cheating in their marriage or in a relationship.

The bill we are taking to parliament, we are not thinking about it now; it is already drafted, and we are going to present it”.

Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly known as Kwame A Plus, has announced plans to lay a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament to criminalise paternity fraud.

Also, a netizen identified as Abena Manokekame, who shared the news, stated, “A Plus (MP for Gomoa Central) is planning to bring a new law to Parliament to make paternity fraud a crime.

In simple terms, he wants women who knowingly lie about who a child’s real father is and make a man raise a child that isn’t his to face jail time.

He’s also suggesting that DNA tests could become mandatory after birth, so the real father is always known from the start.

Let me go and dust my markers and papers. It’s time to start making some noise”.

The Gomoa Central MP’s proposed legislation to Parliament has sparked public debate over whether such a law would be healthy for Ghanaian society.

Some netizens reacting to Kwame A Plus bill stated, “The moment I saw that the bill included possible jail time, I knew it was dead on arrival. A Private Member’s Bill should not impose any financial burden on the Consolidated Fund, as Article 108 of the Constitution clearly forbids it”.

“He should also propose a jail term for men who deliberately sleep with women knowing very well they won’t cater for them or their young ones”, a netizen added.

“Who’s going to pay for the mandatory DNA testing? Can’t be the gov’t, this is a private member’s bill.

Can’t be the parents, they’re too expensive to compel Ghanaians to pay for.

What is the plan for increasing the nation’s capacity to handle that sharp increase in DNA testing?”, one more X user added.

“Jail term won’t be possible cos how can she take care of the child from jail but mandatory DNA is a win win”, a netizen added.

One Ghanaian added, “It’s a good bill, but my humble suggestion is that the DNA test must be conducted on both the man and the woman to ascertain the authenticity of the test. Baby swaps happen a lot at the hospitals”.

Automobile Dealers cut vehicle prices by 15%

0

The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG), in a statement, has announced a 15 per cent reduction in vehicle prices.

According to the Automobile Dealers, the development follows the relative stability of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and the abolition of the COVID-19 levy.

The Automobile Dealers detailed that the price adjustment is in line with its earlier commitment to review vehicle prices downward once there was a stability in the exchange rate.

In a statement issued in Accra on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Automobile Dealers, “ The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) wishes to formally inform the general public that, in line with our earlier commitment, members of the Union have reduced vehicle prices by an average of 15% following the relative stabilisation of the Ghana cedi against the US Dollar, as well as the abolition of the Covid-19 levy.

This decisive action reflects the Union’s long-standing promise to Ghanaians that any meaningful stabilisation of the exchange rate would translate into fairer vehicle pricing, rather than excess profiteering. We are pleased to state that our members have acted in good faith and with a strong sense of national responsibility.

Over the past months, the cost of vehicles in Ghana was significantly impacted by exchange rate volatility, high import duties, shipping costs, and global supply chain pressures. During this period, ADUG consistently assured the public that once the exchange rate showed signs of stability, vehicle prices would be reviewed downward.

With the recent improvement and relative consistency in the exchange rate environment, our members have honoured that promise by adjusting prices across a wide range of vehicles, including brand-new, hybrid, electric, and home-used vehicles.

We thank Ghanaians for their patience, trust, and confidence in the organised automobile trade, and we reaffirm our resolve to always act in the best interest of consumers and the national economy”, the statement concluded.

Some netizens reacting to the Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana statement wrote, “I imported my car cheaper. I will import another one for my wife soon.

These guys have ripped us off for along time”.

One X user added, “Great news from the top. But the prices are the same, and some are even higher.  I just went to ask about the Toyota Belta price last week at Suame. It was 120k -140k

And I was shocked mpo. I know that prices differ based on dealers, but some dealers de3. Hmmm”.

A netizen added, “Sales no dey come through cos people dey ship am directly so they have to develop new strategies. Never knew cars could stay in garages unsold for 2 years till I set my eyes on a particular Honda. To date, that car is still not sold”.

Additionally, a Ghanaian added, “Is a good initiative. My question is about the cars that were shipped by dealers before the reduction in exchange rate and the removal of the Covid-19 levy, cos some of the cars are shipped during the unfavourable times are still on sale in the system”.

“It’s about time, but this is just marketing. The truth is, people would rather ship cars themselves now.

They have refused to pay the high prices offered by garages, and this has compelled you to do this. But 15% won’t cut it”, an X user added.

“NPP is lucky to have Bawumia at this time” – Adom-Otchere

0

Paul Adom-Otchere, a renowned broadcaster, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is lucky to have Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer.

According to Paul Adom-Otchere, the NPP is lucky to have Bawumia at this time, as he can quickly reorganise and unify the party.

He detailed that Ghana’s political history highlights that opposition parties uniting is not as difficult as ruling parties uniting.

Adom-Otchere explained that personal scores and ambitions when a party is in opposition do not disappear, but they are often subdued until political power is regained.

He stressed that Dr Bawumia’s temperament and political style will enhance internal reconciliation.

Paul Adom-Otchere recounted how Richard Anane opposed Nana Akufo-Addo but openly supported Dr Bawumia, adding that cross-factional support stretches back to the era of John Kufuor.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Saturday, February 14, Mr Adom-Otchere explained, “If you study a little bit of the political history of this country, the opposition parties uniting is not as difficult as the ruling parties uniting. In opposition, people sort of have their eyes cleared. Their desire is simply to win power, and that desire usually takes over people’s personal ambitions,” he said.

“So the NPP is lucky to have a person at this time who is able to quickly reorganise that,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has shared how he handled personal attacks during the NPP primaries.

According to Dr Bawumia, despite the vicious attacks he endured during the NPP primaries, his patience, good character, and belief in God ensured that he overcame the situation.

Speaking at the NPP’s Muslim thanksgiving prayers held at the National Mosque in Accra, Dr Bawumia revealed, “We have been through a gruelling election cycle. One that has the potential to have caused wounds and strained relationships. Elections can leave scars that may not show on the surface but can sometimes cut deeply.

Throughout this campaign, I have listened to my own party members insult me, I have listened to them tell lies about my family and me, I have listened to them say hurtful and unprintable things about me, all in the quest to bring me down and achieve their ambitions or the ambitions of those they supported”,  Dr Bawumia added.

He added, “It was a storm of lies and vilification against my family and me. There was tribal and religious bigotry directed towards me. But I smiled through the storm because I knew Allah knows the truth and will not forsake me.”

Dr Bawumia explained that in the midst of the attacks, he took inspiration from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, which ‘”advised that we should respond to false accusations with patience, good character and trust in God” rather than “retaliation or harshness”.

The NPP flagbearer added, “It is in following His teachings that I chose not to respond to all the lies and insults. Thankfully, God’s mighty will was shown on January 31st 2026, when He rewarded me with a stunning victory at the primaries.”

“I was so happy with the overwhelming nature of the victory because it showed very clearly that the NPP is not a tribal party, and it also showed clearly that the NPP is not a religiously bigoted party.

“The delegates showed that our party votes on the basis of competence, capability, vision, character, humility, integrity and tolerance and not on the basis of tribe or religion,” he noted.

“Russian army is the best; my salary can feed your family for 3 years” – GH man in Russian army brags

0

A Ghanaian man serving in the Russian army has bragged about the huge financial earnings he receives.

According to the Ghanaian man in the Russian army, the Russian army is the best, adding that his salary can feed a person’s family for 3 years.

In a video shared by CNN journalist Larry Madowo via X on February 14, 2025, the Ghanaian man was seen in a Russian military uniform.

The Ghanaian man further urged other Africans to come and join the Russian army, as it offers lucrative financial incentives.

In the viral video, the Ghanaian man stated, “The Russian army is the best army, it is not for kids. Understand it. You hear popo? Give and take. My salary can feed your father, mother, and family for like two years or three years,” the Ghanaian man, whose identity has not been disclosed, said.

In the video, a Ukrainian official who also spoke about African serving in the Russian army attributed the situation to economic hardship.

He stated, “As we understand, it is deception, and secondly, it is economic causes, because they are promised serious money for easy jobs, so why not?”

Some netizens reacting to the viral video stated, “Why is he always on TikTok but we never see him on the frontlines of the war?”.

“The Russian army being the best army is the biggest red flag. Anyone who’s seen the conditions of actual Russian infantrymen knows the situation is already dire for them. Now you, a foreigner from a state with little diplomatic pressure, you’re definitely not in good hands”, another X user added.

A netizen quizzed, “Why are you not reporting on the numerous Colombian mercenaries fighting for Ukraine?

Are the Colombian fighters being deceived into fighting for Ukraine just as African men are fighting for Russia? Or are you biased in your reporting, trying to push an agenda?”

“Sometimes it is not all about money, it’s about life! I know we may not all subscribe to this thought, but what will it benefit you to die before you enjoy the money? You will only get to enjoy the money once you are out of there, that is, if you make it, that is, if a drone does not appear while he is taking the video. Vanity!”, another African wrote.

“There are many fighters from multiple nations fighting on both sides. All with different reasons. Be it economic, ideology, escape from authorities, voluntarily or simply, it is an easier way to gain citizenship in these countries”, one more X user added.

One more netizen wrote, “So you are defending ukraine who left your African students naked to die in the snow, refused to let them evacuate??? These same racist ukrainians is your ally?I smell ngo money you stink of it…”,

Additionally, one more added, “Probably he is being used for propaganda to lure more Africans and neutralise the bad publicity they have been facing lately. I refuse to believe he has tasted the real battlefield”.

“When the video comes out, please don’t curse me” – Woman secretly recorded by Russian man speak

0

One of the Ghanaian women recorded by the Russian man named Yaytseslav has broken her silence following their encounter.

The Ghanaian woman admitted that she was one of the women the Russian man lured into his bed.

According to her, before her videos were made public, she had decided to master the courage to speak out.

She asked the public and her family, especially, not to judge or curse her.

Speaking in a video shared on Youtube the Ghanaian woman stated, “You see the Russian man who lured about 800 women to his bed, all I want to say is that I’m one of them. But I can explain. My video is not out yet; it will definitely come out. But before the video comes out, I just decided to gather courage to let you all, my family, know that I’m one of the ladies he lured to his apartment.

“… When the video comes out, please don’t curse me because you don’t know why I followed him to his apartment,” she said.

Another lady, identified as Dorah, accused the Russian man of doctoring her video.

According to the lady, identified as Dorah, she never went into any room with the Russian man, but her video showed they were in a room together.

She also stated, “He kept following us and was demanding our numbers, and I didn’t want him to keep following us, so I decided to give him my Ghana number, because soon I travelled abroad, where I’m based, and when he calls, he would not be able to reach me.

“If you watch the video well, you would realise that he was the one following us. But he fast-forwarded the video in a way that you would not notice that he was doing the following. Even in our video, we didn’t go to his apartment. He didn’t ask us to follow him to any place… My face could be seen in one of the videos, but it wasn’t me,” Dorah said.

Meanwhile, Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, has revealed that the government has started processes to get the Russian man fingered for filming his sexual escapades with several Ghanaian women back to Ghana to face the law.

According to Sam George, it is a crime to record a person without their consent, adding that he has already invited the Russian Ambassador to work with our law enforcement for the man brought back to Ghana.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, February 14, 2026, Sam George said, “It is a crime to record a person without their consent, and even when you record and keep it on your phone, if the person finds out and reports it to us, we will prosecute you, and you will go to jail. That’s the law of the land.

“Now you don’t just record it, but you go and post it on a website for financial gain. That gentleman would be looked for. We will activate every resource at our disposal, working with Interpol, the way we’ve worked with Interpol to extradite Ghanaians to other jurisdictions,” he said.

“I’ve invited the Russian Ambassador to work with our law enforcement. We want the gentleman to come to Ghana, to be brought back to Ghana, extradited to Ghana, for him to face the rigours of our law.

“Ghanaian citizens, irrespective of their decision-making, will be protected by their government. The Government of John Dramani Mahama will ensure that every citizen’s rights are protected. And you cannot record a citizen without their consent and air that or post that online; that constitutes a crime under the Cyber Security Authority Act (CSA), Act 1038,” he added.

Also, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has finally broken its silence regarding the Russian man identified as Yaytseslav’s intimate recordings of Ghanaian women.

According to the Gender Ministry, preliminary information indicates that the individual may not currently be within the country’s jurisdiction, adding that the non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate images is a criminal offence.

The Gender Ministry revealed it is working with police, security agencies and international partners on investigations, takedowns, and possible cross-border action, while offering psychosocial and legal support to victims.

The Ministry revealed they are working with the Ministry of Communication and its relevant agencies on measures to prevent and respond to image-based sexual abuse.

In a statement issued on Thursday, February 14, 2026 stated, “The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has taken note of reports involving a foreign national who allegedly engaged in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and recorded and circulated those acts without consent.

Preliminary information indicates that the individual may not currently be within the country’s jurisdiction. This, however, does not reduce the seriousness of the alleged conduct or the State’s responsibility to pursue accountability. The non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate images is a criminal offence and a clear violation of dignity and privacy”.

“It is important to state that, before these reports, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection had already been working with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Innovation, in its relevant agencies, on measures to prevent and respond to image-based sexual abuse. These ongoing efforts include digital safety interventions, engagement with online platforms, and mechanisms for reporting and takedown of abusive content. These measures are now being applied to this matter by the relevant authorities,

The Ministry continues to work with the Ghana Police Service, relevant security institutions, and international partners to explore all lawful options available, including cross-border cooperation and mutual legal assistance”.

The statement further added, “Support services, including psychosocial care and legal assistance, are being coordinated through confidential channels to ensure privacy and well-being. The Ministry also operates toll-free helplines on complaints and enquiries as well as on issues of abuse and violence, and can be accessed via 0800-800-800/0800-900-900 or 0800-1 1 1-222

We also wish to remind the public to exercise caution in their interactions, both online and offline.

The Ministry remains committed to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of all persons and to ensuring that jurisdictional limits do not prevent appropriate action”.

By 2030, Ghana will stop exporting raw mineral ores – Mahama

0

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that by 2030, Ghana will stop exporting raw mineral ores like Bauxite, Manganese.

According to John Mahama, that is the way Ghana can provide opportunities for our people to stop them from braving the dangers of the Sahara and Mediterranean to try to get to Europe to look for opportunities.

He highlighted that the strategy is already being applied to the cocoa sector, which he noted is facing challenges.

Speaking at the Accra Reset Addis Reckoning event in Addis Ababa on Saturday, February 14, President Mahama explained Ghana’s cocoa challenges, “There are issues, and I’ll just give one example from Ghana. Just before I left, we had a crisis in our cocoa sector. We set the producer price for the farmer. By the time we set the price, the cocoa on the international market was $7,200.

And we have a policy where we gave 70% of the world market price to the farmers. The other 30% is used by the administration to supply fertilisers to the farmers, provide scholarships for their children, and all that kind of thing”.

“The cedi’s value was 11.5 cedis to $1. After we set the producer price, the world market price has declined to $4,200. The cedi has appreciated in value by 10.7 to the dollar. So suddenly it means that for every ton you buy at the producer price, you have a gap, and so we’ll be losing. And so we held a crisis meeting”.

John Mahama further explained government’s decision to stop relying on foreign funding arrangements for cocoa purchases saying, “We took decisions that one of the major problems is that to buy cocoa from our own farmers, we rely on funding from outside. You know what the collateral for funding is? Our cocoa beans. So you have to collateralise the beans. The financier buys the beans, just ships them [out]. They pay you the international market price.

So one of the key decisions we’ve taken is that we’re going to stop foreign funding for the purchase of our cocoa. We are going to raise domestic bonds. We have enough cedis in Ghana to pay for our cocoa. We’re going to raise domestic bonds and buy our own cocoa. We don’t need to collateralise the beans. And you know the interesting part?

We have the capacity to process 400,000 tons of those beans. But because the beans are collateralised, we cannot allocate [them] to local processors. We have to ship all the beans outside.

Now, if we buy them ourselves, take 400,000 tons out of the beans and give it to our local processors to add value, that is what Accra Reset is about”.

President Mahama further declared, “I say by 2030, there are not going to be any raw manganese ores out of Ghana. We are not going to ship manganese ore, bauxite, or iron ore out of Ghana raw. You must process all that locally. That is the only way we can provide opportunities for our people.

Our young people are not as patient as our generation. They want to see progress and prosperity today. That is why Accra Reset has that urgency that we need to implement in order that we stop our young people from braving the dangers of the Sahara and Mediterranean to try to get to Europe to look for opportunity.

So I want to thank you who found time to attend. This is Addis Reckoning. From Addis, we must start implementing”.

Meanwhile,  Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has vowed not to sleep until he wins back power for the party in the 2028 elections.

According to Dr Bawumia, with the confidence placed in him, he has the strength to work hard in the morning, evening, and night to bring the NPP back to power in 2028.

The NPP flagbearer called for unity and togetherness highlighlighting that data shows that when the party is united, they will win the 2028 elections.

Speaking to some NPP members at his residence, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stated, “You have saved this party, by your action, because the message that went in shows 2028 they cannot use that message against us across the country.

It will give us strength, and I am also telling you that, just as you have placed your confidence in me, I will work to bring victory for the NPP. I will not sleep. I will work hard for the party to come back to power in 2028 because you have placed your confidence in me In the morning, evening, and night, to bring the NPP back to power in 2028.

That is what we want, we want the power, which also shows that if there is unity, we will win. If you look at the data, if we have unity among us, we will win because in 2024, our people did not vote. So if we can bring everybody onboard we are more than the NDC.

The work we are going to do, I need everyone. So I want all of you to be united to help us achieve victory”.

“Mahama says Ghana’s economy is doing well, yet he is unable to pay cocoa farmers” – NPP’s Ahiagbah

0

Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has slammed the John Mahama-led government following the slash in cocoa price for farmers.

The NPP Director of Communications argued that President Mahama claims Ghana’s economy is doing well and questioned why the President is unable to pay cocoa farmers.

According to Richard Ahiagbah, the NDC government is insensitive to cocoa farmers, as they have budgeted more than GHS 2.6 billion for luxury aircraft for the President’s comfort.

In a post shared on X, Richard Ahiagbah stated, “The killer reduction in cocoa prices is evidence of the NDC’s insensitivity to cocoa farmers, especially given that the government has budgeted more than GHS 2.6 billion for luxury aircraft for the President’s comfort.  Is it the case that cocoa farmers don’t matter?

President Mahama says Ghana’s economy is doing well, yet he is unable to pay cocoa farmers. Why is that?  Is it because cocoa farmers don’t matter?

Cocoa farmers deserve better than a slap in the face and a stab in the back after they voted for the NDC to come to power on the back of false campaign promises.

President Mahama must apologise and reverse the reduction in cocoa prices…

Cocoa farmers must not accept this killer reduction, a gross abuse of the government’s monopoly power…

This is insensitive, plain and simple…”.

Also, Nana Aduna II, the spokesperson of the Ghana Farmers Association, has questioned the fairness of the cocoa price reduction.

Speaking on JoyNews AM Show, Nana Aduna II quizzed why only cocoa farmers are taking the hit and not COCOBOD staff salaries too.

According to Nana Aduna II, if COCOBOD staff are also taking a hit on their salaries, too, it would create a fairer system and a level playing field for farmers.

Nana Aduna II  on the show stated, “The question we would like to ask is, why are only farmers taking the hit? When you look at the trajectory of our cocoa system, there’s the farmer, the haulage system, licensed buying companies, and COCOBOD. That’s before the beans are even exported. So why is the farmer alone taking the hit?”

“The first step should have been to reduce the salaries of staff and the margins that the government makes by the same amount,” he stated.

“If COCOBOD staff were also affected, it would create a fairer system and a level playing field for farmers.

“Farmer groups have been made poor and weakened over time. There is very limited collective bargaining. So how do we fight back? What tools do we have? Do we just put our hands behind our backs?” he asked.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson announced a revised cocoa price of 64kg cocoa bag from GHS 3,625 to GHS 2,587 for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

According to Ato Forson, the decision comes after the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), under his chairmanship, convened earlier in the day to assess the challenges facing the Cocoa sector.

Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, February 12, Dr Forson disclosed, “The PPRC has recommended that the farmer be paid 90% of the achieved gross fob of USD 4,200 per tonne”.

He added that the committee set the new producer price at GH₵41,392 per tonne, equivalent to GH₵2,587 per bag, effective immediately.

“As a result of that, the PPRC thereby announces that effective today, Thursday, 12th February, 2026, the new producer price for the remainder of the 2025, 2026 crop season will now be GH 41, 392 per tonne and 2,587 per bag,” he noted.

“This measure is necessary to enable the expedited payment of farmers and to guarantee the sustainability of our cocoa industry,” he said.

Gender Ministry breaks silence on Russian man’s intimate recordings of Ghanaian women

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has finally broken its silence regarding the Russian man identified as Yaytseslav’s intimate recordings of Ghanaian women.

“Bossu, help me, the video is not important” – Accident victim pleads for rescue

0

A video has surfaced on social media capturing an accident victim pleading for help following a crash on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

Reports suggest the accident occurred after a broken-down vehicle was left on the road without being towed away.

Another car rammed into the stationary vehicle, resulting in a heavy collision.

In the viral footage shared on social media, the victim, who was trapped inside one of the crash vehicles, was heard crying out, appealing to bystanders who came to the scene to take videos.

“Bossu, help me. The video is not important,” the victim is heard saying.

The bystander taking the video then stated, “We have called the fire service, they are coming, so be patient, the towing car is coming, so we can remove you”.

The video has since sparked outrage online, with many social media users condemning the act of filming the accident, saying, “This is so sad, he isn’t even making any attempts to help him”.

“You see? Social media will be the end of us. Talking a video to post instead of helping a dying person. It’s hard!”, a netizen added.

“One thing about accidents. If you are not careful, you will rather make the victim lose his life in the process of trying to help. So for me, it was good they waited for experts.

But the video was unnecessary!!!”, another X user noted.

“People taking videos of you instead of helping you out, the world is advanced now everybody wants money bro”, one more Ghanaian added.

One more netizen wrote, “Why are some people blaming the guy for taking a video? Did you hear what he said? They’ve been able to get one person out, but the other people need to be rescued by the fire service due damage the cabin sustained….Do you people think at all?”

“The person recording could have just remained calm and engaged the I Jared person in a conversation, giving him some assurance of help coming. The recording was very unnecessary and would have a negative effect on the mental state of the victim”, a netizen added.

Additionally, another X user added, “Stop taking the video and help the man”

But in the process of being professional, you will endanger the whole situation. First Aid must be taught from Junior high school in Ghana. We are far behind, and nobody cares”.

COCOBOD must cut salaries by 28% to display commitment – Appiah-Kubi

0

Andy Appiah-Kubi, a former member of parliament for Asante Akim North, has said management of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) must cut salaries by 28% to show commitment following the crisis in the cocoa sector.

According to him, COCOBOD management’s slashing of salaries by 28 per cent will demonstrate they are finding solutions to the crisis.

Speaking on TV3 Key Points on Saturday, February 14, Andy Appiah-Kubi stated, “I want to wake up to the news that COCOBDO management has received sales of 28 per cent”.

He further debunked claims that COCOBOD problems started just eight years ago, arguing that COCOBOD are historic, dating back to Nkrumah’s time.

Andy Appiah-Kubi, “The problems of COCOBOD are historic. Why do we continue to look for funding to support cocoa operations in Ghana? We can’t continue to politicise the sector.”

“The problems of COCOBOD are historic, so I don’t agree that it started 8 years ago. From Nkrumah’s time up to now, we were supposed to build enough funding to avoid syndication. The moment we started looking for funding for COCOBOD, I knew we had issues. The problems are multiple.”

“If the international price is 52,000, let’s make an adjustment so that the farmers can get 70 per cent of the returns…we have been fair to the farmer in the last year”.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, announced a revised cocoa price of 64kg cocoa bag from GHS 3,625 to GHS 2,587 for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

Your watch could buy over 160 cocoa bags – NPP activists call out Randy Abbey for allegedly wearing a $40,000 wristwatch

0

Some activists of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on X have called out the CEO of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Randy Abbey, for allegedly wearing a $40,000 wristwatch at a time when cocoa farmers are crying for payments.

The NPP activists in a viral post shared a photo of Dr Randy Abbey wearing an alleged Cosmograph Daytona watch, and also shared an image detailing the alleged cost of the watch being $40,600.

According to one netizen, Randy Abbey’s wristwatch alone could buy over 160 cocoa bags.

One of the NPP’s activists in his post wrote, “40,000 dollars for a wristwatch? Randy Abbey destroyed everything. Now the cocoa farmers have to pay for this🤦🏻‍♂️

For a very long time, we’ve not had any issues with cocoa and its prices. They appointed this man, and in less than 2years, everything is a mess. My goodness”.

“You wear an expensive watch to address the poor cocoa farmer on why you are giving them a painful haircut. May God treat your descendants how you are treating cocoa farmers”, another NPP activist added.

“The COCOBOD CEO’s wristwatch alone could buy over 160 bags of cocoa, yet it’s the farmers’ product price that gets slashed, not his salary and allowances”, one more activist stated.

Some other X users commenting under the post shared stated, “He’s the worst appointee ever. We all saw him on Metro TV. @JDMahama should do the needful because you cannot deduct 1kGHC from farmers who have already suffered and then sit there giving excuses. Does he even understand the hard work and sweat that goes into farming?”.

“It’s wisdom to know that flaunting wealth as a public servant will aggravate the public. Are you in a position to serve or flaunt your gold watches? What do you want to tell us”, a netizen added.

One more netizen detailed, “A probably 50+ years old, PhD holder, who had worked all these years and only got an appointment some few months ago cannot buy a $41K watch?….Just because your parents are poor?”

“The problem is not the watch but is that COCOBOD is a monopsony, one dominant state controlled buyer of many/all of farmers produce which they export. They control prices and exclude competitors. This must be changed and allow for numerous buyers from the international market”, one more netizen added.

“Most of us know Randy Abby has a very good taste for watches. He has been wearing expensive watches before getting into politics, and I believe you know his public status in Ghana before he got the C.E.O job”, a netizen added.

Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament has told President John Dramani Mahama to immediately dismiss the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Randy Abbey, over the ongoing crisis facing the cocoa sector.

According to the Minority, the recent reduction in the producer price of cocoa will have serious consequences for cocoa farmers and their families.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Thursday, February 12, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Economy and Development Committee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, stated, “… Respectfully, we ask the president to relieve the COCOBOD Board CEO of his responsibilities at this point in time.”

“The NDC government should absorb the cost of what they have done and protect the cocoa farmer, and restore at least the GH¢3,625 that they promised. This GH¢2,800 or so that they are promising is totally unacceptable.

“Already, we are receiving messages from cocoa farmers who say that if this is what is going to happen, they are going to demonstrate in a number of days. And if they do, we will join them on the streets to do this demonstration,” he warned.

“Those claiming OSP did a shoddy job should pause” – Franklin Cudjoe on Ofori-Atta’s INTERPOL Red Notice

0

Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa, has said those claiming the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) did a shoddy job on following INTERPOL permanently deleting Ken Ofori-Atta’s name from their Red Notice must pause for a moment.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, Ken Ofori-Atta has been arrested by ICE and detained.  So there was no need to keep him on the red list.

In a social media post shared on X on February 14, 2026, Franklin Cudjoe wrote, “Hey, all those claiming the OSP did a shoddy job should pause for a moment and follow the points below.

First, it was Interpol that put Ken on the Red List after the OSP successfully convinced them. At the time, they were convinced Ken was a credible, brave fugitive. Ken’s lawyers appealed twice against the listing and failed”.

His post further added, “After being successfully listed for nearly 6 months, Interpol decided to review the case, and found out that Ken had now been successfully charged and extradition formalities had begun for Ken to be repatriated to Ghana. Finally, he’s been arrested by ICE and detained.  With these incidents, there was no need to keep Ken on the red list!

Interpol, of course, decided to take into consideration Ken’s claims of perceived political persecution by showing evidence of commentary by the AG and a few political platforms. And that last straw is what some claim is victory over being listed by the OSP?”.

Also, the OSP has broken its silence following the International Criminal Police Organisation’s (INTERPOL) deletion of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s Red Notice.

According to the OSP, INTERPOL cited political neutrality and notice processing, adding that the polarised political statements from members of current and former administrations about the conduct of the investigation form part of its decision to expunge his name.

Also. OSP further detailed that recent developments with Ken Ofori-Atta, already in custody, made the notice unnecessary.

However, the OSP notes that criminal charges remain active, with summons currently being served in the United States to secure the former Finance Minister’s appearance in court.

The OSP in a press release dated February 13, 2026, stated, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has received the decision of the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files concerning the Red Notice issued at Ghana’s request for Mr Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta.

The Commission directed the deletion of the notice under INTERPOL’s rules on political neutrality and notice processing, citing contextual factors at the time of issuance, including “polarized political statements from members of current and former administrations about the conduct of the investigation,” as well as public controversy surrounding prosecutorial and extradition processes, including public acknowledgment by senior officials at the Ministry of Justice of an inability, at the time, to pursue extradition due to the early procedural stage of the case.

It further observed that subsequent developments made the notice unnecessary, as Mr Ofori-Atta’s location was known, cooperation with U.S. authorities was ongoing and extradition processes had already been initiated following his arrest in the United States on 6 January 2026.

Summons issued by the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra have been transmitted for service in the United States, requiring him to answer multiple criminal charges. Efforts to secure his appearance continue through established legal and diplomatic channels.

The OSP reiterates that it remains guided solely by law and evidence and is committed to due process and the fair, lawful, and impartial prosecution of corruption and corruption-related offences”.

The OSP statement follows, the statement from Ken Ofori-Atta’s Lawyers that their client has been permanently deleted from the INTERPOL Red Notice following a review.

Authorities say circulating such content is a criminal offence and offenders will be prosecuted”.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “You people don’t seem to understand how detrimental this is to the women who fell victim. I’m not really sure most of the people here have the videos of those intimate moments, besides, he took down the Telegram premium”.

“Waise paa de3, nipa na ɔtcn innocent ladies vids de3 he’s walking around”, a netizen added.

“They should arrest the man first”, a netizen added.

One X user added, “The Russian guy must be arrested for promoting pornography on social media under section 101A of Act 29”.

“What happens to the man who illegally filmed the whole activity, or you guys can’t touch him because he’s a Russian?”, a netizen quizzed.

One more X user added, “This isn’t about defending anyone’s actions, it’s about privacy, consent, and digital responsibility. Once someone shares private content without permission, it moves from gossip into potential criminal territory”.

“Kwasia foɔ. You allowed just anyone into the country without any cyber checks. He does all this nonsense and disappear and you are here talking trash”, a netizen vented his anger.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s social media, particularly X, has been thrown into chaos after a Yaytseslav released multiple videos of himself wooing Ghanaian women into his bed.

The information gathered also suggests the Russian man didn’t start his dealings in Ghana, but started from other African countries.

According to reports, Yaytseslav, the Russian man, mostly target women from the  Accra Mall were he engages with shoppers while recording their interaction, exchanging contacts, and the next thing you know, the women are visiting him in his hotel room.

Reports suggest the Russian man’s moments, from his first contact to private settings, are reportedly documented and turned into content for his audience on multiple social media platforms.

Yaytseslav is said to run active social media pages on TikTok and YouTube, where he posts summary-style videos of these encounters.

Social media users claim there are over 40 videos involving Ghanaian women across these public platforms.

Also, beyond the public posts, Yaytseslav operate a private subscription channel on Telegram, with one having to pay around 400 Russian Rubles, roughly $5 per month.

The situation has garnered reactions, with many questioning issues of privacy, consent, and the apparent monetisation of these encounters. Several users have called on the Ghana Police Service to step in.

The OSP statement follows, the statement from Ken Ofori-Atta’s Lawyers that their client has been permanently deleted from the INTERPOL Red Notice following a review.

On Friday, February 13, 2026, Ken Ofori-Atta’s Lawyers in a statement revealed that the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) had communicated its decision to expunge the alert from the organisation’s database.

According to the lawyers, the CCF concluded that the request for Ken Ofori-Atta’s arrest appeared to be primarily political in nature and did not meet INTERPOL’s neutrality requirements.

The statement signed by his lead counsel, Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo of the law firm Minkah-Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce-Cathline & Partners, read, “We are pleased to announce that, today, February 13, 2026, the Commission for The Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) has notified Kenneth Ofori-Atta that on February 4, 2026 during its 135th Session, it determined that the Red Notice issued against Ofori-Atta “appears of a predominantly political character” and is non- compliant with INTERPOL’s rules, and shall be deleted from INTERPOL’s files permanently.

“Specifically, CCF stated that: “After a thorough examination of the elements before it, the commission found that the challenged data registered by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) of Ghana were not compliant with INTERPOL’s rules and decided that they should be deleted from the INTERPOL information system,” part of the letter read.

Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been permanently deleted from the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) Red Notice following a review.

It will be recalled that INTERPOL has removed the Red Notice for former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to reports, the INTERPOL red notice was removed after a lawyer for Ken Ofori-Atta argued that it was dubiously submitted.

In a post shared by GHOne on X stated, “INTERPOL removes the Red Notice for Ken Ofori-Atta after his lawyers argued that it was dubiously submitted, stating that the request broke key rules, including the ban on politically motivated actions, exclusion of administrative matters like procurement, public financial management issues and the requirement that a case must already have formal charges in a recognised court”.

Later, the OSP then issued a public notice regarding the news of INTERPOL dropping a red notice against former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to the OSP, the process initiated by the lawyer of Ken Ofori-Atta to get their client removed from the  INTERPOL red notice is still pending.

The OSP, however, argued that the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files is still studying the case, adding that during the proceedings, the Applicant’s name, image and details are often removed from public view until a final determination.

In a post on X, the OSP stated, “In October 2025. The Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files notified Ghanaian Authorities that the Accused Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta had applied for the removal of his name from INTERPOL’s Red Notice. The Commission requested Ghana’s response to Mr Ofori Atta’s application. Ghana’s response was duly submitted on 22 October 2025.

By communication dated 7 November 2025, the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files notified Ghanaian Authorities that Accused Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta had filed additional arguments in an addendum, and the Commission requested Ghanaian Authorities to file their response to Mr Ofori-Atta’s additional arguments by 21 November 2025.

The proceedings are still pending, and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files is still studying the case. During the pendency of the proceedings, the Applicant’s name, image and details are often redacted from public view until a final determination is made.

The public is urged to disregard all publications to the contrary as borne of mischief and misinformation”.

“Why are only farmers taking the hit?” – Farmers quizzes fairness of cocoa price cut

0

Nana Aduna II, the spokesperson of the Ghana Farmers Association, has questioned the fairness of the cocoa price reduction.

“If COCOBOD staff were also affected, it would create a fairer system and a level playing field for farmers.”

“Farmer groups have been made poor and weakened over time. There is very limited collective bargaining. So how do we fight back? What tools do we have? Do we just put our hands behind our backs?” he asked.

Also, the minority in Parliament has strongly slammed the John Mahama-led government’s decision to reduce the cocoa producer price.

According to the minority caucus, the move is unfair to farmers and detrimental to the sector.

The minority demanded a reduction in the salary of public sector workers in line with the decline in farmgate prices of cocoa.

The minority further quizzed whether the Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD’s salary and allowance would be reduced by the same margin.

Addressing the media on Thursday, February 12, Ranking Member on the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, Dr Isaac Yaw Opoku, stated, “This has never happened. Why are we treating cocoa farmers this way? The cocoa farmer has never enjoyed the full benefit of the FOB price. Cocoa farmers have sacrificed for this country”.

“If the cocoa farmer’s price is going to be reduced by almost 30 per cent, then everybody’s pay in this country should also be slashed by that margin. Is the Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD’s salary and allowance going to be reduced by the same margin?. Today is a sad day for the country. The President should come again. Cocoa farmers deserve better,” he stated.

Their comments follow Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who has announced a revised cocoa price of 64kg cocoa bag from GHS 3,625 to GHS 2,587 for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

Defeat painful, but a breakaway NOT an option for Ken Agyapong – Rocky Obeng

0

Joojo Rocky Obeng, a former Western North Regional Minister and a member of the Ken Agyapong campaign team, has said the former Assin Central MP will not break away from the party to contest the 2028 presidential election as an independent candidate.

According to Joojo Rocky Obeng, defeat is painful, but a breakaway not an option for Ken Agyapong.

His comment follows some sections of Ken Agyapong’s supporters who are calling on him to break away and form a third force to contest in the 2028 elections.

Rocky Obeng detailed that Ghana’s political history shows it is highly improbable to win an election without the backing of the NPP or the NDC.

In a Facebook post on Friday, February 13, 2026, Mr Obeng wrote, “The idea of a “third force” is politically ridiculous and completely off-limits as far as I am concerned. The same must go for anyone who genuinely wanted Hon Ken to win and be on the ticket of our party, the New Patriotic Party.

I find it awfully interesting the idea that Hon Ken can win a national election without the strength of either our party, NPP, or a National Party like the NDC. That is an overstretch – going by our recent history and precedents in the fourth republic. Hold a different view, but if you genuinely believe he can, why did you not at least protest his decision to seek the flagbearership of the NPP at the outset, but rather waited for him to spend hundreds of millions of Ghana cedis to compete with fellow patriots for the flagbearer slot of our party?

I am talking about Hon Ken’s first choice of wanting to be the NPP’s Presidential Candidate. That decision in itself, without doubt, is a candid admission that running on the ticket of NPP is the most feasible option to winning any Presidential Elections in Ghana”.

His post added, “We concluded our primaries two weeks ago, and I am aware of how strong the sentiment is for all and the many true loyalists of Hon Ken, but let’s give our party a chance to reflect and continue from where we collectively left with our internal electoral reforms.

Everyone, including our flagbearer, knows that we need to cleanse ourselves from the excesses and the regrettable utterances that came with our primaries. Those excesses & utterances cut very deep. And must receive the highest priority.

I therefore think, in spite of how strong our fears are, it is only fair that we do not indulge in suggestions that are completely off-limits and could hurt any reforms and reconciliation efforts by the flagbearer and the leadership of our party.

I end by stating again that defeat is painful, but a breakaway “third force” must not be on the table. What is on the table now is NDC’s MESS of the Cocoa sector and the bad treatment they’ve put millions of Cocoa Farmers through this Cocoa season. I shall be back on this subject after we have secured better conditions for the Cocoa farmer. Thank you!”.

Meanwhile, Ken Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, has accepted the results of the party’s presidential primary, calling for all supporters to back Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Ken Agyapong, he pledges his support and has accepted the results declared by the EC.

He further called on his supporters to stay calm, respect the results as they work to win the 2028 election.

Stephen Amoah urges gov’t to introduce entrepreneurship as a core subject in JHS and SHS

0

The member of parliament for Nhyiaso, Dr Stephen Amoah, has urged the John Mahama government to introduce entrepreneurship as a core subject in the Junior High School (SHS) and Senior High Schools.

Stephen Amoah argued that early entrepreneurial training can help address graduate unemployment by encouraging job creation.

According to Stephen Amoah, embedding entrepreneurship into the academic curriculum would help cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset at an early stage, equipping students not only to seek employment but to create sustainable jobs for themselves and others.

Hon. Dr Stephen Amoah further stressed that such a reform represents a practical and long-term strategy to address Ghana’s rising graduate unemployment challenge.

The MP argued that education must evolve to meet current economic realities.

The proposal has reignited conversations about curriculum reform and the role of education in national development.

Some Ghanaian reacting to Stephen Amoah’s proposal stated, “ When politicians make a suggestion, what data or research do they use to back it?

I have always maintained doesn’t need more entrepreneurs; we don’t have the demand or supply to churn more entrepreneurs.

Telling Ghanaians to enter into entrepreneurship is the lazy way of government saying they can’t produce more jobs”.

“The best contribution from any known Npp person since 1957”, a netizen added.

“Exactly sticka ☑️ Entrepreneurship Financial management

Other skills needed to be employed after junior high school, e.g., carpentry, masonry, plumbing, agriculture, trading, business development”, one more Ghanaian added.

One more Ghanaian added, “I agree with Hon. Stephen Amoah. Making entrepreneurship a core subject in JHS nd SHS will equip students with practical skills early, promote job creation, nd reduce graduate unemployment. It will help shift the mindset from job seeking to job creation nd empower the youth 4 de fu”.

A netizen added. “For this I agree, but I wanna ask o, since when did the @nppghanahq become so concerned about us? I think they’re really wise when opposition, so we should really keep them there forever”.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwah, the Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director, has disclosed that Ghana’s economy is no longer the number one issue for voters.

According to Mussa Dankwah, Jobs have replace economy as voters’ top concern when he speaks to voters.

He noted that before the 2024 election, the three things that bothered voters were the economy, jobs, and education, adding that voters’ priorities have shifted.

Mussa Dankwah further stressed that he expects the NDC government to create jobs.

Speaking on the JoyNews AM Show on January 6, Mussa Dankwah disclosed, “I expect them to create jobs; if you speak to voters today, the economy is no longer a threat to them. The economy is no longer the number one issue for them. It suggests that they are okay with the economy.”

“The issue is job creation. If you look at the last election, before the election, the three top issues that bothered voters were the economy, jobs, and education.”

He added, “On points one and three, which were the top three issues, they are having success in doing that. But the problem they have is job creation, which is the biggest threat. We’ve been told that it’s a national security threat for many years. It still remains. A chunk of the youth have no job.”

“Whatever the government needs to take to create jobs, the environment that will create jobs, they have to. There’s no excuse for them. The people will be disappointed, but in the second year, if nothing happens, I can tell them for a fact.”

NPP impressed with Afenyo-Markin, there are no plans to change Minority leadership – Kodua

0

Justin Frimpong Kodua, the NPP General Secretary, has declared that the party is very impressed with the work of Alexander Afenyo-Markin and the Minority leadership.

The NPP General Secretary dismissed claims that the NPP plans to replace Afenyo-Markin as minority leader.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on Friday, February 13, 2025, Justin Kodua stated, “It is something that has not come to the table, and I don’t see why, at this point, the party would want to change leadership in Parliament. For what reason? So, it is something that has not come to the table.”

“The party is overwhelmingly satisfied. We know the work that the mighty Minority, under the leadership of Afenyo-Markin, has been doing, and, certainly, we will continue to give them all the needed support to enable them to continue to perform their job. We are very impressed and very elated about the work that they are doing,” he stressed.

Justin Kodua further added that the NPP continues on its current reorganisation path, adding that he is convinced the party will return to power in 2028.

“If, as a party, we are able to continue the reorganisation that we are undertaking, I am very convinced that in 2028 we shall come back to power. All that Ghanaians are expecting from us is to prove and show them that, yes, we mean business, and we have taken our reorganisation seriously,” he boldly added.

Also, Gabby Otchere-Darko, a legal practitioner and stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has broken his silence on alleged calls to remove the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, from his position as Minority Leader in Parliament.

According to Gabby Otchere-Darko, he has not heard of any calls for the removal of Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader.

Gabby Otchere-Darko highlighted that the NPP Minority in Parliament has been strong in Parliament over the last 12 months, adding that Afenyo-Markin’s recent visit to NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, shows they can work together.

Speaking in an interview on Asaasepa on February 3, 2026, Gabby explained, “I haven’t heard calls that they should remove Afenyo-Markin, but I think the Minority has done well. They have held this party together for the past twelve months.

“I also saw footage of him with the presidential candidate, and I am confident the party, in its wisdom, will remain stable,” he added.

In related news, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed that the party is very happy with the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

According to Nana B, the Minority leader has been a very formidable leader for the NPP in parliament in their difficult times.

Nana B stressed that it would be in the interest of the NPP to allow Afenyo-Markin continue to work.

The NPP National Organiser further noted that some people are running their own commentary over claims that the NPP is planning to replace Afenyo-Markin as Minority leader.

Speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, February 2, Nana Boakye explained, “Hon Afenyo-Markin has been an outstanding leader, especially for us in these difficult times. He’s been very formidable in parliament. In fact, for me I would say that it will be in the interest of the party for him to continue his work.

“…The party is very happy with the work he is doing, how he puts things together, and his leadership. We are very happy with the work he is doing…People are just running their own commentary.”

Ghanaian men avoiding condoms because sizes are too small – Ghana AIDS Commission

0

The Ghana AIDS Commission has said some Ghanaian men are reportedly refusing to use condoms, claiming the sizes available on the market are too small for them.

According to the Commission, low condom use could undermine efforts to reduce HIV infections and is urging stronger public education and improved access to suitable options.

The Ghana AIDS Commission is quoted by JoyPrime to have said, “Some Ghanaian men avoiding condoms because sizes in the system are too small for them”.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “So what are they trying to say??”.

A netizen added, “It’s very true… personally, the available sizes are small for me”.

“Ghana Health Service and Ghana AIDS Commission should find ways to contact all the women that the Russian mf got in contact with. They must treat it as a public health emergency, an X user stated.

In related news, the Ghana AIDS Commission is set to distribute condoms nationwide today, February 13, 2026.

The move is part of Ghana’s fight against HIV, which is receiving fresh attention this Valentine’s season.

Reports suggest the Ghana AIDS Commission is preparing to distribute thousands of condoms and HIV test kits across the country.

The Director-General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Dr Prosper Akanbong, stated that this year would be the first time Ghana formally observes World Condom Day on 13th of February.

Speaking in an interview, Dr Prosper Akanbong stated, “13th of February has always been World Condom Day. And in fact, for the first time, Ghana will be observing it.”

“Ghana AIDS Commission is leading this with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation who are now entering Ghana for the first time. So, we’ll launch it on the 13th of February,” he stated.

He added, “This is where we bring the awareness to the use of condoms. It’s part of the strategy to make sure people get to know that, look, there’s International Condom Day. Let’s use condoms, and we can get the public awareness about condoms”.

The Director-General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, when asked about concerns that some men avoid condoms due to complaints about size and comfort, he acknowledged such perceptions but however stressed on protection.

“There will be various types that will be there. Flavoured, non-flavoured and all those kinds of condoms. We get to know that there were some times when there were condoms in the system.  They said they were smaller for Ghanaian men.”

The distribution forms part of broader efforts to prevent the transmission and spread of HIV/AIDS, particularly during festive periods when the risk of unsafe sex may increase. HIV test kits are also being dispatched nationwide to encourage people to know their status.

“NDC gov’t lost in the ocean” – Justin Kodua on Ghana’s cocoa sector crisis

0

Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has slammed the John Mahama-led government over Ghana’s cocoa sector crisis.

The NPP General Secretary stressed that it is  “absurd” and “untenable” for the NDC government to blame its shortfall in the cocoa sector on the NPP.

According to Justin Kodua, the NDC government is lost in the ocean, and debunked claims that the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration mismanaged the sector.

He detailed that the decision by the NDC government to reduce the price of cocoa from GH₵3,625 to GH₵2,587 explains how the government is lost in the ocean.

Speaking on the issue of cocoa pricing on TV3 on Friday, February 13, 2026, Kodua explained, “Well, it would be totally absurd, repugnant, and unconscionable on the part of the NDC government to label any blame against the New Patriotic Party for their incompetence. At least they have been in government for over a year now, and when they took over the realm of affairs, they were mindful of the state of the economy”.

“In 2025, the cocoa price was around GH₵3,100 per bag, and somewhere during July, they increased it to GH₵3,600. So, when they increased the cocoa price, they didn’t accuse the previous government of mismanagement, of having destroyed the cocoa sector.

He argued, “If the sector was destroyed, how were you able to increase the cocoa price? So, that accusation that they are trying to label against the New Patriotic Party is untenable”.

“If you want to understand the real cause of where we are as a government, as a party, and as a country, then people will also appreciate that, indeed, the decision by the NDC government to reduce the price from GH₵3,625 to GH₵2,587 explains how the government is lost in the ocean,” Kodua noted.

The NPP General Secretary  added, “This issue about the crisis started somewhere in October where cocoa farmers, after they had cultivated their produce, had to sell it to people referred to as purchasing clerks. In some instances where the purchasing clerks don’t have money, they take the cocoa bags under the terms and agreement that they are going to pay the cocoa farmers X amount, which at that time was GH₵3,600.

“At that point, the farmer never anticipated that a day would come when the government would come back and tell the cocoa farmer that it had reduced the price which has been agreed between the purchasing clerk and the farmer… At what point did the government get to know that there were serious issues in the cocoa sector?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the member of parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, has said close to one million Cocoa farmers are receiving haircuts with the Mahama government decision to cut the cocoa price by 28.6%.

According to Oppong Nkrumah, the 28.6 per cent cut will adversely affect the livelihoods of over one million cocoa farmers nationwide and also impact about  4 million people who depend on the cocoa farmers.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Thursday, February 12, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Economy and Development Committee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, stated, “This action to announce a 28.6% reduction in the price amounts to a haircut of about 28 per cent, close to one million Ghanaian cocoa farmers, you may not recognise it.

This 28.6% haircut is going to affect about one million Ghanaian cocoa farmers, and if you add to it the number of people who assist them on the farms and their dependants my gosh, we are getting to 3 to 4 million people who are going to be affected by this haircut”.

Additionally, the Minority in Parliament told President John Dramani Mahama to immediately dismiss the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr Randy Abbey, over the ongoing crisis facing the cocoa sector.

According to the Minority, the recent reduction in the producer price of cocoa will have serious consequences for cocoa farmers and their families.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah added, “… Respectfully, we ask the president to relieve the COCOBOD Board CEO of his responsibilities at this point in time.”

“Kotoka International Airport should be renamed after Ken Ofori-Atta” – NPP‘s Paul Yandoh

0

The New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, has said the Kotoka International Airport should be renamed after Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to Paul Yandoh, the Kotoka International Airport should be renamed after Ken Ofori-Atta since he’s the most important person to the country right now.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Paul Yandoh stated, “The Kotoka International Airport should be renamed after Ken Ofori-Atta. Did Kotoka put his name there by force? Didn’t someone put it there? Today, they are saying Kotoka did a coup, so they do not want his name on the Airport.

If a coup is not a good thing, why did Ibrahim Traore come to Mahama‘s swearing-in ceremony? So if Kotoka’s name will be replace they should replace it with Ken Ofori-Atta, because if you ask the NDC, Ken Ofori-Atta is the most important person in the country right now if he does not come back things will not be fine and I am sure the cocoa that they have reduce they will say it is about Ken Ofori-Atta”.

His comments come on the back of the ongoing debate surrounding the renaming of the Kotoka International Airport to the Accra International Airport.

Meanwhile, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Minister of Transport, has defended the government’s decision to rename the Kotoka International Airport.

The Transport Minister highlighted that the Mahama government’s decision is not politically motivated, arguing that renaming the airport is of significant importance to the Ghanaian people.

He explained that the government decision to just restore the airport’s original name, Accra International Airport, given by Ghana’s first presiednt Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

However, Renowned legal scholar and governance advocate, Prof Stephen Kwaku Asare, popularly known as Kwaku Azar, has said renaming Kotoka International Airport is costly and unwarranted.

He argued that the Airport’s name is firmly embedded in global aviation systems, international treaties, maps, branding, and digital platforms, which would make any attempt to change it a costly and complex exercise.

According to Kwaku Azar, the names that have endured for more than six decades have survived not one political moment, but military rule, constitutional change, democratic transition, and generational turnover.

He added that each generation has the right to question history, but no generation has the right to treat every inherited symbol as if it were freshly imposed.

In a write-up shared on Facebook, Kwaku Azar stated, “Renaming KIA now would incur significant administrative, financial, and symbolic costs without improving operational efficiency, safety, or economic growth”.

“Kotoka International Airport is already recognised globally. Stability and predictability are assets in aviation. Changing its name now risks confusion and unnecessary costs, with no measurable benefit to the country,” Prof Asare stated.

Kwaku Azar further added that “names are not endorsements. They are anchors of memory. KIA does not ask travellers to celebrate coups. It reminds us, silently and persistently, of a turbulent chapter in our national journey: post-independence authoritarianism, military intervention, Cold War pressures, internal dissent, and the long, painful road to constitutional democracy. Erasing the name does not heal that history. It merely hides it. A mature nation does not erase uncomfortable chapters; it teaches them”.

He further stressed that the renaming of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to Accra International Airport risks erasing important lessons from Ghana’s history, explaining that the 1969 renaming of KIA was not meant to glorify the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah.

Man caught in military uniform at 37 trying to woo a nurse charged, granted ¢30,000 bail

0

A man who was caught in a military uniform at the 37 Military Hospital had been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court.

The man has been identified as Joseph Baadah, a 34-year-old trader residing at Agbogbloshie in Accra.

Joseph Baadah was charged with using military accoutrements without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer.

He pleaded not guilty, with the court admitting him to bail of GH¢30,000 with sureties.

The man is set to reappear on March 24, 2026.

Joseph Baadah, in his caution statement, admitted he was not a soldier and told the court he wore the uniform to impress a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, told the court the man was spotted on February 8, 2026, at about 1800 hours, wearing a military camouflage uniform over a pair of slippers and reportedly without a rank, lanyard, name tag or shoulder badge.

The prosecution detailed that his appearance aroused suspicion, which led to him being confronted by the complainant, WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Joseph Baadah was arrested and taken to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for interrogation before being handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.

It will be recalled that Joseph Baadah was arrested by some personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) after attempting to impersonate a military officer.

According to the information gathered, the fake soldier was arrested after he attempted to meet a rotational nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.

Eyewitnesses detailed that the suspect’s appearance and conduct raised suspicion, leading to the personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) interrogating him.

Following the interogation the fake military officer alleged that he had served in the army for seven years.

When pressed for more details, he folded and could not mention his rank and was arrested.

Meanwhile, Dominic Nitiwul, a former Defence Minister and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has fingered the fake soldier busted at 37 Military Hospital for impersonating him on social media.

According to Dominic Nitiwul, the fake soldier created multiple Facebook and WhatsApp accounts using his name and identity to dupe several individuals under false pretences.

In a viral video shared on social media, Dominic Ntiwul was captured questioning the suspect.

Speaking in the viral video, Dominic Ntiwul stated, “Commnader this boy has used my name to dupe so many people; he creates Facebook and WhatsApp accounts to dupe people. The last one he did was to meet a boy at a Burma Camp. Just two weeks ago, the man came to my house. The boy is coming. I have asked him to come. When the soldiers were beating him, I sent his picture to the boy, and he confirmed that he was coming to collect his money.

About 100 people will come, because we speak the same ascent like him, he uses my name to dupe so many people”.

Women’s Development Bank coming soon – VEEP Prof Jane Naana

0

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has announced that the government’s flagship Women’s Development Bank will be rolled out soon.

According to Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang,  a two-day workshop has been assembled to finalise key implementation strategies for the initiative.

Speaking at the 65th End-of-Year Gathering and General Meeting of the Greater Accra Markets Association (GAMA), the vice president stated, “Our aim is not speed for its own sake, but sustainability and impact. We are determined to build progressively and deliver on a mandate that genuinely benefits those who have long been left in the gaps of our economic system. The women in our markets deserve nothing less”.

Women are not lazy; it is help that we need. Every major policy needs appropriate preparation and consultation, so it thrives,” she said.

The vice president, in a subsequent post on social media, further detailed government is taking deliberate steps to ensure the Women’s Development Bank is structured to serve its intended purpose.

She wrote, “Later today, I attended the Greater Accra Markets Association (GAMA) End of Year Gathering and General Meeting 2026. It was an honour to be with hardworking market women whose daily efforts keep our local economies thriving. Our markets depend on the strength of the women who work in them. Peace, stability, and community resilience often start with women, and their role in sustaining families and the nation cannot be overstated.

I acknowledged the difficult conditions under which many market women operate. Our market women deserve to work with dignity, safety, and peace. Addressing these concerns has led to accelerated infrastructure development, including market revitalization projects.

I also commended the Association for adopting a theme that promotes healthy living, reflecting an understanding that economic empowerment must go hand in hand with well-being.

I reaffirmed Government’s commitment to establishing the Women’s Development Bank. Extensive stakeholder engagement is ongoing, and we are taking deliberate steps to ensure the Bank is structured to serve its intended purpose. Our aim is not speed for its own sake, but sustainability and impact. We are determined to build progressively and deliver on a mandate that genuinely benefits those who have long been left in the gaps of our economic system. The women in our markets deserve nothing less”, her post concluded.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the news wrote, “Same old promises. Now our First Lady of the land is also promising our industrious women, only for her to also punish our women as JDM and @Cassielforson is doing to vulnerable cocoa farmers, teachers, nurses and graduate youth. NDC is truly a scam party.

Eeeiiii Ato!!”.

“How I wish the word progressively ‘ did not exist in the textbook of Ghanaian politicians. Grandma, it will be fine waaii”. A netizen added.

“Lies in propaganda in opposition are now exposed. The gov should just go to churches and mosques and pray for forgiveness for lying and scamming their way into power. You then go to Akuffo Addo and beg him to show you how to govern properly. NDC govt has disgraced politicians”, one more Ghanaian wrote.

Ablakwa and Muntaka must explain; our women deserve better – NPP MP on Russian man’s sexual exploits

0

Charles Owiredu, a former Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Abirem, has broken his silence following multiple viral videos of a Russian man with Ghanaian women.

According to the former Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Affairs Minister and the Minister of Interior must explain.

He detailed that no one enters Ghana without clearance and questioned who approved the Russian man’s visa.

Charles Owiredu further quizzed whether his visa was issued in Moscow or in Accra.

In a social media post on X, Charles Owiredu wrote, “As a former Deputy Foreign Minister and an Ambassador, I can say with authority that no one enters Ghana without clearance.

Who approved the visa? Was it issued in Moscow or in Accra?

What checks were done?

The Foreign Affairs Minister and the Minister of  Interior must explain.

Our women deserve better”.

Meanwhile, the face of the Russian man identified as Yaytseslav has surfaced on social media following his viral video of his encounters with multiple Ghanaian women.

Gossips 24 TV in a post, however, indicated that Yaytseslav may not be his real name, as he is called Vyacheslav Trahov.

The Russian man, in multiple videos, showed him wooing Ghanaian women around Accra Mall, filming them and then taking them to his apartment without showing his face.

In a viral video shared on X, the Russian man was seen walking in a hallway with a darkshades on.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian social media, particularly X, has been thrown into chaos after a Yaytseslav released multiple videos of him wooing Ghanaian women into his bed.

Court threatens to jail JG Resources Directors in controversial US$17m gold transaction dispute

0

The High Court has threatened to jail three directors of JG Resources Limited, fingered in a controversial US$17 million gold transaction dispute.

It will be recalled that a Turkish company identified as Tayvest-FZCO had filed a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service against a Ghanaian company, JG Resources Limited, over a US$17 million gold fraud.

The case has been filed against JG Resources Limited and its directors, Kwaku Appiah Yeboah, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, and Papa Yaw Owusu-Ankomah.

Reports reveal that the complaints were filed as far back as last year regarding an alleged US$17 million gold transaction that has collapsed.

The US$17 million gold transaction collapse comes amid accusations of fraud, document manipulation and conflicting claims.

According to information gathered, the petition centres on funds paid for a large consignment of gold meant for export to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Kuranchie Maame Akosua Asama has been identified as having played a dual role in the US$17 million gold transaction.

She is said to have closely worked with the Turkish firm on a project in Kumasi and is also being linked to JG Resources Limited.

Records show that JG Resources Limited was incorporated on 7 April 2025 and received the full US$17 million payment from Tayvest-FZCO for the supply of gold barely months after its registration.

“According to the CID complaint, Tayvest-FZCO transferred the US$17 million to JG Resources Limited for the supply of gold, with the funds reportedly received and withdrawn through Access Bank Ghana. While some quantity of gold was eventually delivered, police sources told The Herald that it fell far short of what was paid for.

Repeated efforts by the Turkish firm to obtain the outstanding quantity of gold or secure a refund are said to have failed, fuelling suspicions of a deliberate scheme rather than a commercial misunderstanding”, the Herald report stated.

In a post by the Ghana Chronicle, they wrote, “Three directors of JG Resources Limited, including Papa Owusu-Ankomah, son of former Attorney-General and ex-UK High Commissioner, risk possible jail time over their alleged roles in the controversial US$17 million gold transaction dispute. Investigations and court actions are ongoing.

Papa Yaw Owusu-Ankomah, along with his colleague directors Maame Akosua Asama Kuranchie and Kwaku Appiah Yeboah, is expected to appear before the High Court (Commercial Division) in Accra on 5 March 2026, following contempt proceedings brought against them and their company.

They had disobeyed directives from Justice Doris Awuah-Dabanka-Bekoe regarding the alleged forging of documents and the receipt of the substantial sum using the name of Sesi Edem Limited, a registered gold dealership”.

The post further added, “The proceedings arise from Suit No. GJ-CM/OCC/0181/2026, in which Sesi-Edem Company Limited alleges that JG Resources Limited used its corporate name and the signature of its Managing Director without authorisation in connection with a Sale and Purchase Agreement with Tayvest-FZCO for the purchase of gold dore bars.

It is further alleged that the agreement bears a forged signature and stamp, which Sesi-Edem Company Limited reportedly discovered upon receiving information from a journalist, Kay Cudjoe. The company subsequently took legal action against JG Resources.

On 19 December 2025, the High Court granted an injunction and preservation order in favour of Sesi-Edem Company Limited.

According to filings, the orders directed JG Resources to freeze specified bank accounts, including one held with Access Bank, deposit funds related to the disputed transaction into court, and file a sworn affidavit disclosing all related assets. The order was reportedly served on 22 December 2025.

In support of the contempt proceedings, Sesi-Edem Company Limited filed an affidavit asserting that no funds were deposited into court, no disclosure affidavit was submitted, and no application was made to vary, discharge, or stay the order.

A registry search dated 7 January 2026 is cited as confirming the absence of these compliance steps. The applicant contends that the alleged non-compliance occurred while the order remained in force and amounts to wilful disobedience”.

Jenny Wiltshire, one of the UK’s most respected criminal defence solicitors, who is representing Black Stars and Villarreal CF midfielder Thomas Partey, has broken her silence following his client’s two new additional counts of rape.

Jenny Wiltshire is quoted by a GHOne news flyer to have said, “Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him; he has cooperated with the police throughout”.

The Legal defence for Thomas Partey remarks follows: news of the Black Stars midfielder has been charged with two additional counts of rape.

Reports suggest Thomas Partey’s new charges are different from the initial charges which he was facing, awaiting trial in November.

The Daily Mail is quoted as saying, “This morning, the Crown Prosecution Service announced that the additional charges referred to a separate report of non-recent offences in 2020 and a new investigation carried out by the Metropolitan Police.

According to reports, the fresh allegations were first reported last August.

Thomas Partey is now expected at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March, for a first hearing.

A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service stated: “Mr Partey is already charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in connection to allegations by three women of incidents which took place between 2021 and 2022.

These new charges relate to a separate report of non-recent offences in 2020 involving one additional woman and follow a new investigation by the Metropolitan Police. These allegations were first reported in August 2025

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March for a first hearing”.

Meanwhile, Thomas Partey had earlier pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women.

Partey, 32, appeared in the dock at Southwark Crown Court and spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and enter his not guilty pleas, with his appearance in court lasting just 30 minutes.

Partey’s trial is scheduled to begin on November 2, 2026.

The former Arsenal star was released on bail ahead of his trial, which will last for six to eight weeks.

“The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives.

“The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: Five counts of rape, one count of sexual assault.”

Reports suggest the offences are alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.

Also, an alleged victim, speaking to British media outlet The Athletic, stated, “I would frequently get messages from fans. They’d send me pictures of him playing or scoring.

I would get death threats, rape threats, people saying they’d set me on fire. If he scored, for example, the abuse would be worse,” she stated.

The video has emerged following news yesterday, February 12, 2026, of the Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology involved in a road accident.

The two ministers in their convoys were travelling to the Upper West Region to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education.

Is not good enough for you either. Be safe out there”.

“Does the airlift work for normal Ghanaians in distress in areas cars can’t get to in record time? Ghana will happen to you”, a netizen added.

One more Ghanaian wrote, “These same MPs and ministers were forcing doctors to go and work in the hospitals in the north, but these same MPs and ministers don’t want to receive treatment there. Hypocrites. These men are from the north as well”.

Prophet Roja demanded $1.5m from Bawumia to change Ken’s prophecy – Abronye drops bombshell

0

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dropped a bombshell in relation to Ghanaian prophet, Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, the founder of Roja City International Church.

According to Abronye, Prophet Roja demanded $1.5 million from the camp of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to reverse his earlier prophecy were he claimed Ken Agyapong was going to win the NPP presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.

Abronye detailed that Prophet Roja claimed Ken Agyapong gave him $1 million, so for him to reverse the prophecy, he would need $1.5 million from Bawumia’s camp, which they rejected.

The NPP Bono Regional Chairman further stressed that they have CCTV footage to prove his claims, and if Prophet claims he is lying, he should let the spirit that he has strike him down.

Speaking on his Ohia TV show, Abronye claimed, “I will speak the truth now, I will confess, I don’t speak hearsay if I am lying, Roja, any spirit that you have let the spirit strike me down.

The intimidation is too much. As for you, since you came to the world, it is only death you see? Some of these pastors have been blackmailing people in this country, including President John Dramani Mahama,” Abronye alleged.

Abronye further alleged, “Prophet Roja went to Angel FM and said Ken has won so his people should jubilate, then you make arrangements yourself to meet Dr Bawumia’s team. Bawumia said he was at a campaign ground, so you arranged to meet his team around him.

“When you met him, you told them that even though you had already prophesied for Kennedy Agyapong, you could change your mind if they gave you $1.5 million to counter the $1 million Kennedy Agyapong gave you. We have CCTV footage to prove it, so if you want us to show it, we will,” he added.

“What I am saying is true. If I am lying, let your God strike me,” he said.

Meanwhile,  Prophet Roja in recent times has dropped a cryptic message about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy for the 2028 elections.

According to Prophet Roja, Prophet ElBernard’s prophecy of Ken Agyapong leading the party in 2028 remains unchanged despite Dr Bawumia emerging victorious in the NPP presidential primaries.

Speaking on Angel TV, Prophet Roja boldly claimed, “Today is 4th February. I am saying that the prophecy Prophet ElBernard gave of Ken winning the primaries, and he did not win, there is something specific that he said that Kennedy is leading the party, it is still hanging. Believe it or not, what he said is still hanging, it has not changed”.

The man of God added, “I am saying this with sorrow; those who have ears should listen. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a very good man. I like his wife and the people around him. There are some messages that you can go and speak to him about, but maybe when you go, he will not take it seriously”.

“What I am saying is that we have work to do, Dr Bawumia has work to do, and his people also have work to do. There are some things still hanging”.

Bawumia is the one leading the NPP right now, but in the spiritual realms, what Prophet ElBernard said is still hanging; the battle is not over. What is hanging can also change, but something must be done”.

Dismiss COCOBOD CEO Randy Abbey – Minority demands

0

The Minority in Parliament has told President John Dramani Mahama to immediately dismiss the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Randy Abbey, over the ongoing crisis facing the cocoa sector.

Also, the Minority in Parliament strongly slammed the John Mahama-led government’s decision to reduce the cocoa producer price.

Meanwhile, the minority demands follow the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who has announced a revised cocoa price of 64kg cocoa bag from GHS 3,625 to GHS 2,587 for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

One million Cocoa farmers will receive haircuts with 28.6% price cut – Oppong Nkrumah

0

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the member of parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, has said close to one million Cocoa farmers are receiving haircuts with the Mahama government decision to cut the cocoa price by 28.6%.

“All NDC members cannot be appointed” – Asiedu Nketia tells disgruntled NDC members

0

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has told disgruntled party members that President John Mahama cannot appoint everyone.

According to Asiedu Nketia, appointments under the current Mahama administration are limited; however urged party supporters who are yet to receive appointments to remain calm and exercise patience.

The NDC National Chairman further stressed that it is practically impossible to appoint all deserving members at the same time, citing the constitutional restrictions placed on the president’s appointment.

Asiedu Nketia further urged party members to avoid resorting to anger or public criticism and to use internal channels to seek redress for their grievances.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour at Winneba in the Effutu Constituency on Thursday, February 12, Asiedu Nketia, stated, “I am aware that some of you are unhappy because you did not get to be appointed to any position upon our return to power. This is understandable. It is the reason why I am embarking on this ‘Thank You Tour’, to explain issues for your understanding.

“The challenge is that, given the number of appointments that the constitution permits President Mahama to make, not all members of the NDC can be taken care of. So be patient. There is no need to be angry with the party.”

“You have elected a good president who is doing a good job. Everyone acknowledges this fact, including some members of the opposition. So, I urge you to be patient with the government. If you have any concerns that have not been addressed yet. There is time for everything. Your concerns will be addressed. All you need to do is to channel them through the right quarters and it will be resolved,” he assured.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia comes on the heels of some irate Tema Central NDC executives who have forcefully locked up the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Tema.

Reports suggest the NDC executives locked up the Tema NHIS office over what they describe as unfair and exclusionary appointments.

In a viral video shared, the irate NDC executives drove out all staff at the NHIS office and proceeded to lock up the main gate.

Benjamin Ims Djakumah, the Constituency Chairman, led the NDC executives into locking up the office over what he described as dissatisfaction over recent appointments to the NHIS and other public institutions in Tema.

He revealed that appointments were made without consultation with several qualified party members, being overlooked.

According to Chairman Djakumah, the leadership of the NDC in the constituency is unhappy over the sidelining of grassroots executives after they work to regain power for the party.

Henry Davidson Ayeh, the Constituency Secretary, supported the protest, adding that the grassroots feel they have just been taken for granted.

The Constituency Organiser also highlighted that the sacrifices made by party faithful in Tema Central must be acknowledged.

Meanwhile, Augustus Nana Kwasi Andrews, the Ashanti Regional leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) some months ago revealed he is under a lot of pressure, as the party’s grassroots are demanding jobs.

According to the Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, the NDC grassroots are calling for more, demanding their own share of appointments and employment opportunities.

Augustus Nana Kwasi Andrews asserted that the NDC grassroots played a critical role in securing the NDC’s victory in the 2024 elections.

Speaking to journalists in Kumasi on December 8, the NDC Ashanti Regional Chairman stated, “Looking at the campaign that we did last election (2024), they did very well. They used their energy, their money, their resources, everything. And you know that when you work for somebody, and the person wins power, you have to compensate the person. And there’s a lot of pressure on me. So everybody is demanding.

He further urged the NDC grassroots to remain calm, adding that not everybody will get an appointment.

He added, “The grassroots are calling for more, and everybody needs their own share. That’s why I’m asking my branches to remain calm. They should have hope in H.E. President John Dramani Mahama”.

“We know that not everybody will get, but the few that will get an appointment, we have to bring it down so that everybody can enjoy their sweat.”

Kofi Tonto, a political aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has fired shots at the NDC government over the Finance Minister announment of a revised cocoa price of 64kg cocoa bag from GHS 3,625 to GHS 2,587.

According to Kofi Tonto, the John Mahama-led NDC government are pure scammers.

He recounted that the NPP in power for 8 years increase cocoa price per bag from GHC475 to GHC3100, adding that the NDC in opposition claimed it was not enough, as cocoa farmers deserved 6,500.

Kofi Tonto added that today the NDC is unable to maintain the GHC3100, and has rather reset the cocoa price to GHC2587.

In a social media post, Kofi Tonto wrote, “In 8 years, NPP increased cocoa price per bag from GHC475 to GHC3100. NDC in opposition said that the amount was not enough and that farmers deserved GHC 6,500. Today, not only are they unable to maintain GHC3100, they have RESET it to GHC2587. Pure scammers!!!”.

“Showboy was extorting me” – Davido GH

Ghanaian music executive and entrepreneur Davido GH has accused Ghanaian musician Sam Sarfo Junior, popularly known as Showboy, of extorting money from him.

According to Davido GH, Showboy repeatedly made online videos targeted at him in an attempt to pressure him into giving him money.

In a post shared by Bongo Ideas on X, Davido GH stated, “Showboy was extorting money from me. He does things he thinks will make me panic, so I will give him money. He kept making videos about me and posting them online, and my people kept forwarding them to me.

I explained everything to some street leaders about what he was doing.

They spoke to him, and he told them he would delete the videos, but an hour later, he went online and insulted them, calling all land guards aimless.

That meant he also disrespected the leaders I contacted. He cannot keep playing with everything because things like this do not end well.

He directly demanded money from me, but I refused. If I give him money and encourage that behaviour, he might turn to my family when I am not available, and I do not want that to happen.

I later reported the matter to the CID. There were no shady dealings between us. He once saw me in my friend’s Range Rover and assumed it was mine, then started spreading false rumours.

He has been bullying me online, but I am not the type to switch on my camera and rant. I respect myself too much for that.

He wants to ruin my reputation, but I challenge him to bring evidence that we ever had any illegal deal”.

Meanwhile, some days ago, Showboy was spotted handcuffed and interacting with police officers.

In the video, a police officer who identified herself as ASP was heard engaging Showboy.

A Police Officer from the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) Headquarters was also heard, who stated their boss ordered them to bring Showboy in for detention.

He later requested water and asked to speak to his doctor, claiming he is a psychiatric patient.

The update follows the home Showboy, which was stormed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) some days ago.

Viral videos making rounds on social media showed Showboy being arrested by the Ghana Police Service.

Also, Showboy appeared in court yesterday late and was remanded for another two weeks.

The Adenta Circuit Court has adjourned the case of Showboy to March 4, 2026.

See the face of the Russian man who wooed multiple Ghanaian women into his bed

0

The face of the nefarious Russian man identified as Yaytseslav has surfaced on social media following his viral video of his encounters with multiple Ghanaian women.

Some netizens reacting to the video stated, “It was no exploitation, he was regarded as a valuable resource, and he took advantage of it.. case close!!”.

“Those saying he took advantage nu. Do u understand what advantage means? If it were to be a black man, would they have followed?”, a netizen added.

One X user added, “He just used ‘Come with me, ‘ and they followed him willingly. A Ghanaian man can try the same “Come with me” and let him see if it will work aa🤣. His only wrongdoing here was to record them secretly and post it”.

“Leave the guy alone. Those women are not vulnerable; they don’t just have standards and values. Go to hell”, a netizen added.

“As much as what the man did is wrong, none of those women were taken advantage of. He met them in public places and just asks come with me and cos he is Obroni, they follow. He is, however, at fault for recording people privately without their consent”.

One more Ghanaian added, “Don’t use the word vulnerable cos they are not !!! Greedy girls. They think obroni is heaven. Nkwasiafo. Now they crying”

“If GoldBod is not buying Galamsey Gold, who is?” – Oppong Nkrumah quizzes

0

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, has quizzed the John Dramani Mahama–led NDC government over gold produced by illegal miners, popularly known as galamsey operators.

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the new Gold Trading Act grants GoldBod the exclusive legal authority to export gold from Ghana.

Oppong Nkrumah argued that the reported surge in small-scale gold output, despite intensified anti-galamsey efforts, raises serious concerns about the destination of illegally mined gold.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah noted that GoldBod has publicly denied buying gold from illegal miners; however, the critical question remains unanswered.

Speaking in an interview with Akwasi Nsiah, host of Badwam on Adom TV,

“If GoldBod is not buying galamsey gold, then who is buying it? With galamsey still ongoing and assurances of tight security against gold smuggling, the question still stands,” he stressed. “Who is buying the gold from the galamseyers?”

However, Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), last year clarified that the Goldbod is not in the market buying galamsey gold.

The CEO explained that licensed private individuals make the purchases of gold, not GoldBod.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Sammy Gyamfi explained, “To create the impression that nobody was buying galamsey gold and all of a sudden GoldBod is now giving it a market is clearly wrong”.

“There has always been a market for gold anywhere in the world, including Ghana. Have we ever woken up to any news that there is stranded gold in Ghana? There’s always demand,” he said.

He detailed, “Gold Board itself is not on the market buying gold. These licensed buyers are not stationed at mining sites. They sit in their offices, mostly in district and regional capitals, and buy gold brought to them. They have no technology or system to tell whether the gold was mined responsibly or not”.

“It is this five-month-old corporation called Gold Board that has now been given the mandate to find a solution to that problem. You think we can find a solution in five months to a problem that has existed for decades?” he asked.

Sammy Gyamfi further revealed Goldbod’s plans for next year, “By next year, we will commence the rollout of this system. Licensed miners will have to seal and scan their gold with unique codes so buyers can know exactly where it is coming from. Aggregators will also have to trace the origin even after melting.

Currently, because small-scale gold is not traceable, we are limited to markets in Dubai, Hong Kong, India, and Turkey. With traceability, we can access LBMA refineries in Switzerland and China, where prices are higher.

“People are having the wrong impression that Gold Board is in the market buying galamsey gold. Nothing of that sort is happening,” he said.

Sammy Gyamfi, also quizzed critics, claiming the GoldBod is responsible for promoting illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

The Goldbod CEO quizzed how a five-month-old Goldbod could be responsible for an age-long galamsey problem?

Sammy Gyamfi explained, “Let me clear some misconceptions that GoldBod is promoting galamsey. And my simple question to them is how can a five-month-old statutory corporation, GoldBod, be responsible for an age-long galamsey problem?”

“Galamsey has been with us for decades. Last year, there was no GoldBod, but we saw a lot of protests against galamsey because galamsey has reached unprecedented and alarming levels. So how can you say that a corporation that was established barely five months ago is the one to blame for galamsey?” he added.

“So I have been arrested, and you didn’t tell me?” – Osei Kwame Despite on rumours of his arrest

0

Ghanaian business mogul and philanthropist, Osei Kwame Despite, has reacted to rumours claiming he was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport for attempting to smuggle drugs out of the country.

In a viral video shared on X on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Kwame Despite appeared to dismiss the rumours in an amusing manner.

Osei Kwame Despitestepping out of his black Rolls-Royce Cullinan, dressed in an all-black outfit, exchanged banter with a blogger from Plus 1 TV.

Despite jokingly telling the blogger, “So I have been arrested, and you didn’t tell me?”

The rumours come on the heels of speculation after news emerged that NACOC had arrested an unnamed individual for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit substances out of the country.

However, the Deputy Director General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Alexander Twum-Barimah, has clarified media reports which suggested they have arrested a manager of a food manufacturing company in a cocaine bust.

Alexander Twum-Barimah clarified that NACOC has not arrested any senior manager of a manufacturing company.

According to the Deputy NACOC Director General, the individuals arrested are not employees or members of management or any connection to any of the brands whose products were used to conceal the drugs.

According to him, the companies themselves are not responsible for the acts of these individuals, adding that because of that, NACOC has decided not to publicly name any brands.

Speaking in an interview on TV3’s Ghana Tonight on February 11, 2026, Twum-Barimah explained, “The persons arrested are not managers or staff of any popular food manufacturing company. From where our investigations have reached, they are not linked to these companies in any way”.

The Deputy Director General of NACOC detailed that they encountered about four different food products used in similar attempts at different times, explaining that the first incident involved about 250kg of cocaine, which was intercepted in the Netherlands after being shipped from Ghana and concealed among branded food products.

“The very first one, a Lebanese and some other persons were involved, they have been arrested, they are in court.

“The second incident occurred in 2025 at the cargo section of Kotoka International Airport, where cocaine was again mixed with food products. When we intercepted it, no individual was present, so we seized the items and began investigations. That particular batch contained about 3kg of cocaine, which we sent to the Ghana Standards Authority for testing. It was confirmed to be cocaine.”

Alexander Twum-Barimah further detailed, “So we decided to investigate deeper. Then, in 2026 early part we got another food product mix with cocaine again. What they do is that some part of the packaging is a good product, but you will find another part being cocaine. God being good through CCTV footage and further work, we were able to arrest a suspect when he attempted to repeat the act for the third time, this time using a different product.

That third product batch contained 1.05kg of cocaine. We also arrested a female suspect and discovered that they had machines they were using for these activities.”

“No. Three different brands were involved. The fourth case was not really tied to any brand. In the 250kg case in the Netherlands, a particular company’s food product was used to conceal the cocaine in the container.

The arrangement had the food products at the outer layers and the cocaine hidden within. The same pattern was used in the Kotoka case, where food products from various companies were used as part of the concealment.”

NPP ends its boycott of TV3, other Media General platforms

0

Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced the party has ended its boycott of Media General’s platforms.

It will be recalled that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) withdrew from all Media General’s platforms, including TV3, 3 FM, and Onua FM, in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.

The party’s communications director, Richard Ahiagbah, later communicated through a press release issued on January 26, making this known.

According to the NPP, this follows months of supposed failed attempts to address concerns over biased and unprofessional conduct by Media General hosts and management.

However, Richard Ahiagbah, in a press release issued on February 12, announced that the NPP has lifted its boycott of all Media General platforms.

In a Press release, Richard Ahiagbah stated, “The New Patriotic Party announces the immediate lifting of its boycott of all Medi: General platforms. This includes interviews, panel discussions, press conferences, and media briefings involving party executives and representatives.

This decision follows constructive discussions between the party leadership and Media General’s management. Both parties have agreed on ground rules to uphold higher professional standards and to ensure fair and balanced interactions that serve the public interest.,

We look forward to renewing our partnership with Media General as we work to strengthen Ghana’s democracy.

Long live the NPP

Long live Ghana”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the news stated, “After describing Media Generalmas a Pro-NDC media firm which you claimed you would never need in order to win elections…you going back? More like a dog going back tot its vomit. Tueh”.

“Why are you back. You should have continued to be arrogant in opposition… The NPP is Visionless as we speak”, another X user added.

One more Ghanaian wrote, “Was there ever a boycott? Zaato, Bentil, and Domfe were also present in the studio, and your party couldn’t whip them into line. Such a disciplined political party”.

Another netizen added, “This decision was ill-advised from the start. I’m confident that, in the future, the potential repercussions will be more carefully evaluated before proceeding. Following chairman Buga will sink you like titanic”.

“STOP the nonsense and this bogus face-saving attitude; “engage them to uphold high professional standards’. You foolishly thought their programs would be less attractive by boycotting them, but here you are begging them to be taken back”, one more X user added.

Additionally, another X user added, “U said they were biased, irresponsible and fake. Now you want engagement to promote the interests of ur party, not the Ghanaians right chameleon party. You think the current administration is failing, so u would join forces with all media houses and push ur propaganda that would be in your dreams ego over u”.

“Shameless bunch of idiots. Despite all the insults and denigration, you will still go there to sell your party. After beating some of their journalists and pushing their microphones away, you have no shame in going there again?

Be principled for once”, a netizen added.

“This does not make sense” – Man cries out after paying GHS5,600 for an Accra-Kumasi round-trip flight

0

A worried Ghanaian Man has expressed frustration over soaring domestic flight prices, revealing he paid a total of GHS 5,600.

According to the Man, he paid GHS 2,900 for Accra to Kumasi and GHS 2,700 for Kumasi to Accra, claiming that in late 2024, he only paid GHS 1,500.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, the GH man stated, “So, I’m at the Prempeh II International Airport, and I have to pay 2,700 Ghana cedis to travel from Kumasi to Accra on Saturday.

I came to Kumasi just last Saturday. On my way coming, I paid 2,900 Ghana cedis from Accra to Kumasi. So when you put them together, that is 5,600 Ghana cedis”.

He added, “Like that’s in and out of my trip from Kumasi to Accra. This does not make sense. And when you talk about it, they say fuel prices have come down, the dollar is down, so we should not complain about anything that’s happening”.

The GH further vented his anger saying, “Obiaa se ey3 aban papapa. How is aban papapa in this? In late 2024 to early 2025, the highest one could pay was 1,500 Ghana cedis. That’s like the highest one could pay late 2024, early ’25, the highest one could pay was 1,500 Ghana cedis. Today, poor Trotro drivers have been forced to reduce their prices.

DSTV has been asked to reduce the price, but aviation the cost of aviation or travel by air is very, very expensive. It is… I don’t know.”

Some netizens reacting to his claims stated, “First of all, he should be factual and objective. He can’t book a flight the same day or a day before he travels and expect cheap rates like he is going to board a VIP or Trotro. If you frequently travel by Air no one will tell you to use common sense by booking ahead of time. Below is an image of actual prices”.

“Is it a lack of understanding, or something people just want attention?

If you sit down and book a flight overnight, you will pay more.

This is simply the case. However, if you plan your trip out and book in advance, it is cheaper”, a netizen added.

“Flight prices depend heavily on traffic. More of the more the demand, the higher the price. Someone tag him for me”, another X user added.

One more X user added, “This is wild, GHS 5,600 round trip for Accra–Kumasi in 2026 feels like highway robbery when it used to be way cheaper just a couple years back. With only two main airlines dominating and no real competition, prices just keep climbing despite any fuel or cedi improvements. Ghana really needs more carriers in the sky to bring some sanity to these fares”.

“I decided to skip, but his letter sounded political, so I had to pull up. This was just 31st January”, one more Ghanaian added, sharing a photo of his flight ticket price of GHS1,696 and GHS1,238.

“Today is a sad day for Ghana; will COCOBOD CEO’s salary also be cut?” – Minority on Cocoa price cut

0

The Minority in Parliament has strongly slammed the John Mahama-led government’s decision to reduce the cocoa producer price.

The minority remarks follow Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who has announced a revised cocoa price of 64kg cocoa bag from GHS 3,625 to GHS 2,587 for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

Ato Forson, in a post, further explained the development, saying, “1. On Wednesday, 11th February, 2026, Cabinet convened an emergency session to deliberate over developments in the cocoa sector. The session considered historical and systemic problems confronting the sector and took key decisions.

2. The meeting noted the following developments in the cocoa sector.

3. The 2025/26 cocoa season began in August 2025, with a Producer Price of GH¢51,660 per tonne calculated as 70% of the Gross FOB of US$7,200 per tonne using an exchange rate of 10.25 cedis to the US dollar.

4. On the 1st of October 2025, Côte d’Ivoire announced a new producer price, 20% above that of Ghana. This decision by the Ivorians, coupled with movements in the exchange rate resulted in significant difference in the producer price of cocoa between Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.

5. This price difference had the potential to trigger significant smuggling of Ghana’s cocoa to Côte d’Ivoire.

5. As a result, the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) adjusted the producer price to GH¢58,000 per tonne to reflect an exchange rate of 11.5 cedis to the US dollar at the time.

6. The decision by the PPRC to increase the producer price of cocoa made Ghana’s farmgate price competitive and stemmed the potential smuggling of Ghana’s crop.

7. From October 2025, the World Market Price of cocoa started dropping. While the price was declining, COCOBOD continued to sell the beans until the price went below US$6,400 per tonne, which is the cost of cocoa from the farmer to the port”.
