NSA scandal – Case adjourned as former Boss and Deputy failed to show up in Court

0

The High Court in Accra has adjourned proceedings in the cases involving the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi, and his deputy, Gifty Oware-Mensah.

The court decision follows the two suspects failing to show up in court.

However, the former Director-General, Osei Asibey Antwi lawyer appeared before the High Court today, informing the court that his client had been instructed to report to police investigators in Kumasi.

The lawyer further revealed that the defence team had not yet been served with a charge sheet.

The High Court then directed that the charge sheet and hearing notices be served to the accused, after which the case would be recalled for hearing.

Hearing Gifty Oware-Mensah was also adjourned after lawyers informed the court she had submitted a two-day medical excuse duty

Osei Assibey Antwi and his deputy, Gifty Oware, were expected to appear before the Court today, Friday, 17th October 2025.

Both were supposed to be in court to answer charges of alleged financial misconduct involving several million cedis during their roles at the National Service Authority (NSA).

Osei Assibey Antwi, the immediate past Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), has been charged with  14 counts.

His charges included causing financial loss to the Republic, stealing, and money laundering, in a case involving more than GH¢500 million.

According to the charge sheet, Osei Assibey Antwi is accused of authorising payments to over 60,000 non-existent national service personnel and misappropriating public funds.

The former NSS boss is facing multiple counts under sections 179A(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 1(2)(c) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044).

Prosecutors allege that the former NSA boss “willfully caused financial loss of GH¢500,861,744.02 to the Republic by authorising the payment of allowances to over 60,000 “ghost” service personnel between August 2021 and February 2025. Also facing six counts of stealing.

The theft includes, “GH¢3.6 million on August 22, 2023, GH¢516,000 each on September 11, October 26, and November 23, 2023, GH¢1.03 million on December 18, 2023, GH¢2.06 million on May 14, 2024.

He has also been accused of transferring GH¢8.26 into his personal account.

Also, Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is a Deputy Director-General of the National Service Authority, has been charged with stealing and willfully causing financial loss to the state.

The Attorney-General’s Department alleged Gifty Oware-Mensah misappropriated a total of GH¢38,458,248.87 between February 2022 and March 2024, overseeing finance, audit, and procurement at the NSA.

According to prosecutors, she dishonestly transferred GH¢31.5 million from a loan facility meant to support National Service Personnel into her private company accounts.

The said money was under the pretext of supplying goods on a hire-purchase basis; however, investigation revealed no such goods were supplied, and the names used to secure the loan were ghost names from the NSA’s internal system.

AG also alleged, “Out of the money received, the accused transferred GH¢22,925,518,69 to Amaecom Global Company of which she was a director, and the remaining amount to three other companies.”

Gifty Oware-Mensah’s charges include “Stealing GH¢31,502,091.40 belonging to the National Service Authority. Willfully causing financial loss to the state through the fake hire-purchase arrangement, Abuse of public office for personal gain and Money laundering through the transfer of funds into personal and affiliated accounts”.

“Publicly admitting to let the country burn before conceding defeat biggest threat to our democracy” – Ken Agyapong slammed

0

Akosua Manu, Special Aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has slammed  New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong following his recent remarks.

According to Akosua Manu, Ken Agyapong publicly admitting to letting the country burn before conceding defeat is the biggest threat to Ghana’s democracy.

Ms Manu, in a Facebook post on Thursday, October 16, 2025, wrote, “Publicly admitting a willingness to let the country burn before conceding is the biggest threat to our democracy. You cannot preach PhD yet push unpatriotic behavior”.

In another Facebook post, on Friday, October 16, 2025, Akosua Manu fired Kennedy Agyapong for conceding to the NPP’s defeat years ago before the 2024 elections.

“The lives of patriots and citizens would have been needlessly lost in defence of a cause he [Kennedy Agyapong] believed was long lost. He who conceded two years ahead of time cannot hold a candle to he who concedes after the polls to protect the lives of party supporters and Ghanaians,” she wrote.

Also, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has tackled Kennedy Agyapong.

According to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a presidential candidate refusing to concede defeat when he knows he has been beaten is cowardice, and a danger to our democracy.

Miracles Aboagye wrote, “A Prez Candidate who refuses to concede defeat in the face of obvious loss at a time when there are multiple incidents of violence across the country is a coward and a danger to our democracy.

Courageous leaders act in time to save our peace,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Their comments come following  Kennedy Agyapong stating that until the last constituency is counted, he would never have conceded defeat if he were the presidential candidate of the NPP in the 2024 elections.

Mr Agyapong highlighted that the NPP needs bold and courageous leaders ahead of the 2028 elections to match the NDC.

Speaking to party faithfuls as part of his regional tour in the Savannah Region on Wednesday, October 15, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Until the last constituency is counted, if I am a presidential candidate, I will never accept defeat. I will never accept defeat until the Electoral Commission comes out to declare. I will never accept defeat,” he stated firmly, drawing cheers from his supporters.

He added that, “We need bold men… the party needs people who can match the NDC in every respect and defend the interests of our supporters.”

He further urged delegates to reject any candidate who focuses on personal attacks instead of addressing key issues such as job creation.

“The delegates must reject any candidate who does not talk about jobs but spends time attacking my personality and saying I am not presidential,” he said.

Demolished Akufo-Addo’s statue to be reinstalled following repair works

0

The information gathered suggests the statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, will be reinstalled following repair works.

On November 6, 2024, the statue was unveiled to honour the then-president Akufo-Addo. The statue in December 2024 received repairs to the leg after it suffered noticeable damage.

Following the repair works, the entire statue was toppled and destroyed, with the head to the knee area smashed. It reportedly occurred at about 1:30 am on January 13, 2025.

According to the report, a replacement statue has been completed and will soon be re-erected at the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi.

This was revealed by the independent parliamentary candidate Prophet Elisha Joshua for the Evalue Gwira constituency in the 2024 Election, who had earlier pledged to restore the monument, emphasising that such actions of political intolerance should not be condoned.

Speaking in an interview on Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, Prophet Joshua, “Acts like these must not be encouraged since they could create a dangerous precedent. Tomorrow, someone may decide to destroy whatever President Mahama will also build”.

Prophet Joshua claimed that the statue was initially dismantled due to ongoing road construction at the site.

He revealed he intends to seek formal approval from regional authorities before reinstalling the monument.

Prophet Joshua added, “The main reason it was taken down was because the road was not completed. Now that the road is done, the statue can be erected without opposition from anyone”.

“The roundabout and the pillar where the statue stood are still intact. The new statue has been moulded, and we’ll soon meet with the regional leaders to get their consent for reinstallation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwasi Agyeman IV, denied involvement in the Akufo-Addo statue.

Speaking to a Takoradi-based radio station, Nana Akwasi Agyeman clarified, “Frankly, I promised not to comment on the statue issue because of the widespread insults we chiefs have suffered. I, Nana Akwasi Agyeman, can confirm that the statue was not done by the chiefs of the Western Region. It is never true. No chief contributed a pesewa towards its construction. If any chief contributed towards it, I’m yet to know”.

“The chiefs never met as the House of Chiefs to discuss donating a statue to honour the then-President Nana Akufo-Addo,” he added.

He recounted, “We only received an invitation to attend the former President’s thank-you tour. It was there that Okyere Darko Mensah sent someone to inform me that he would like us to join them to present a gift of appreciation to the President, and so we would all go to Effia-Nkwanta Hospital”.

“It was upon arriving there that I got to know it was a statue. I didn’t even know it was a statue. I was not the only Paramount Chief who went there; in fact, we were about seven. Again, it was there that I was told I would help the President unveil the statue. Honestly, I initially didn’t want to do it, but I was worried about creating a scene, so I kept quiet,” Nana Agyeman said.

“I have seized Bawumia’s steering wheel” – NPP’s Bryan Acheampong

0

Bryan Acheampong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, has declared he has seized Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s steering wheel.

Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV, the NPP flagbearer aspirant, the former Vice President’s famous campaign slogan, “Give me the steer,” which dominated his 2024 presidential bid.

Dr Acheampong made the statement in a light-hearted manner while he outlined his plans to lead the New Patriotic Party into the next general elections.

It will be recalled that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the run-up to the 2024 election, used the slogan, “Give me the steer and I will drive Ghana to the next level”, which he used to symbolise his readiness to take charge of the country’s leadership from then-President Akufo-Addo.

In related news, Bryan Acheampong has dismissed polls putting him at just 1% support among delegates ahead of the party’s primary.

According to Dr Bryan Acheampong, polls putting him at just 1 per cent are sponsored and meaningless.

He asserted that on January 31st, that is the only poll that truly matters.

Speaking at his campaign office on Wednesday, October 15, Dr Acheampong stated, “I mean, I’ve seen some polls that put me at 1% and some aspirants who have not even left their bedrooms at 20%, and it’s quite interesting,” he said.

“So please, I’m not concerned about that at all. The day of the election, January 31st, we will see what the real polls look like.”

He added, “Many people come with the proposal that, ‘Oh, you are winning, you are at 90%, you are at 70%, give us money so that we can go and put it in the papers, put it on online posts.’ I’m not interested in any of that,” he stated.

Also, he has said he fears no candidate in the party’s flagbearer race.

According to Bryan Acheampong, he is not afraid of the so-called establishment, as the establishment is the entire party architecture, the delegates, and the workers of the party.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, October 15, Dr Acheampong stated, “I have no fears at all about any so-called establishment. And there’s really no establishment in this. It is the establishment that is going to vote – the entire party architecture, the delegates, and the workers of the party.”

He noted, “National executives themselves are 17 out of 250,000. Constituency executives, who are about 5,000 people, are only a small part of the whole. One person may have most of them, but that does not determine the final outcome.”

“I’ve been around this party for a long time. I know the influence of these people on the delegates. I’m hoping it’s going to be free and fair”.

“I’m running a solid campaign, and I know that nothing – except the delegates – can influence their way”, he added.

He further added that job creation will be a key focus of his campaign and future government if elected.

According to Dr Acheampong, his private sector experience gives him the foundation to deliver meaningful employment opportunities for young people.

Dr Acheampong added, “I assured party people that the key areas I would focus on, should we win power, would be jobs,” he said. “It allows them to look at what I have done for myself in the private sector, and I will be able to leverage that with government policy to create more jobs, meaningful jobs for young people.”

“What I have done in my personal life will also inspire a lot of young people, which will bring them to vote for us in 2028,” he said.

He further promised, “Our future government will focus on infrastructure, health, education, and roads everywhere that we go. The Eastern Region, when I started, we were just talking about roads.”

Adu Boahen’s bid to halt criminal trial thrown out

0

The High Court has thrown out an application filed by lawyers for former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahen.

The legal team for Kwabena Adu Boahen were seeking to criminal trial pending the outcome of an appeal.

Kwabena Adu Boahen’s legal team had urged the court to stay proceedings until the Court of Appeal determines their challenge to an earlier ruling.

The court’s earlier ruling partially dismissed a request for further disclosures made on behalf of the first and second accused persons in the ongoing trial.

Also, on Wednesday, October 15, a notice filed at the High Court in Accra revealed Ms Donkor was formally discharged under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

Mildred Donkor is now expected to give insight into the alleged theft and misappropriation of state funds by the former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited.

Earlier, Ms Donkor abruptly dismissed her lawyer in open court on July 18, saying, “I wish to take a separate lawyer, please,” she told the judge at the time.

In the six-page document signed by the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem Sai, it detailed how Mildred Donkor became involved in Adu-Boahene’s scandal.

Mildred Donkor, in her witness statement, labelled her association with the first and second accused persons as longstanding from their days at Cedar Mountain Assemblies of God Church in East Legon. In her witness statement, Donkor alleged that it all started when Adu-Boahene requested that she become a director of Advantage Solutions Limited when he couldn’t meet the registration requirements when he wanted to open a bank account for his business.

Parts of the document read, “This was sometimes in the year 2010. At the time of opening the account for (A4), A4 could not meet the minimum requirement for two directors. A4 had only one director, as the other director on A4’s record was deceased. To satisfy the minimum directorship requirement for A4, A1 requested that I become the second director, which I consented to. I put my name down as the second director. That is how I became a director of A4”.

She detailed on page two of the document how she ended up working for Adu-Boahene after she resigned from UMB in July 2018.

“I never received a letter of employment or appointment at A4. Therefore, I was not given specific duties nor formal terms of employment. I only acted on ad hoc instructions from A1 and A2. However, I was paid a monthly stipend. For instance, I was paid Three Thousand One Hundred and Thirty-Seven Ghana cedis (GH¢3,137) up to January 2021,” she added.

She further told the prosecutors that she managed several transactions on behalf of the accused persons, including withdrawal and delivery of a large cash sum from bank accounts belonging to Advantage Solutions Limited and another firm, adding that the first and second accused provided her with pre-signed blank cheque books, allowing her to withdraw from GH¢2,000 to GH¢1 million.

Mildred Donkor detailed, “A1 and A2, from time to time, instructed me to carry out tasks on their behalf in respect of A4. For example, they had, on one occasion, instructed me to facilitate the payment of cheques signed by A1 and A2 to third parties… When I withdrew such cheques, I delivered the monies either A1 or A2. Sometimes, too, I transfer the monies to Madam Margaret Aba Donkor at her request”.

“Throughout my work with A1 and A2, I took no major decisions – whether financial, operations, or strategic – on my own. I followed the decisions and instructions of A1 or A2. Throughout my works with A4, I was never invited to, neither did I ever attend, a board of directors’ meeting. I was never a signatory to any bank account”, she added.

The AG is now expected to rely on her testimony to strengthen its case against the remaining accused persons.

“Pending the court’s determination, no one has the right to claim Lumba’s body” – Lawyers for Akosua Serwaa

The legal team of Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, has issued a press release warning the family head of the late musician, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, and his associates.

On October 16, 2025, a statement signed by the Fosuh family, Akosua Serwaa, mentioned that the body of the late highlife legend must remain at the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso until the court gives its final ruling on the legal dispute.

Parts of the statement read, “Pending the court’s final determination, no person or group, including Mr Kofi Owusu (the Abusua Panyin) and his associates, has the lawful right to claim or remove the body of the deceased from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso, Accra. Any such act would amount to a violation of ongoing court proceedings and could attract serious legal consequences”.

“The Fosuh family remains confident that the rule of law will prevail and that the dignity of the late Mr Charles Fosuh will be protected. They also believe that the outcome of this case will serve as an important legal precedent, reinforcing the rights of lawful spouses and women in similar situations across Ghana,” the statement added.

In related news, the High Court in Kumasi has adjourned the hearing of an injunction application filed by Akosua Serwaa, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, to October 28.

The case was presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, is seeking a court injunction to halt the funeral, demanding recognition as the sole legal widow and the right to perform traditional rites.

According to court documents, her legal team is contesting the legitimacy of the arrangements, arguing that they were made without her knowledge, consent, or involvement.

“PRAYING this Honourable Court for an Order restraining the Defendants, their agents, assigns, workmen, etc., from either collecting the body of the late CHARLES KWADWO FOSU a.k.a. DADDY LUMBA from the morgue and performing the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased, upon the grounds set out in the accompanying Affidavit,” the writ stated.

However, the Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have told Akosua Serwah that Daddy Lumba’s family only recognises Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, as the wife of the musician.

According to the lawyers, Akosua Serwaa refused to relocate to Ghana some 15 years with Daddy Lumba for medical treatment.

The Lawyers further revealed that Akosua Serwaa wrote to Daddy Lumba of her intentions to initiate a divorce, and even presented Lumba’s drinks to his family, signifying the dissolution of their marriage.

In a new twist, a sister of the deceased Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosu and his German-based wifeAkosua Serwaa, are demanding an independent probe into his death.

According to the two women, they are demanding a probe into Daddy Lumba’s demise following the inconsistencies in narrations around his death.

Meanwhile, the children of Daddy Lumba with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh have distanced themselves from their mother’s lawsuit concerning their late father’s funeral and burial arrangements.

One of the children, Charlyn Fosuh, on behalf of the siblings with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, in a statement, stated, “It has come to our attention that there is an ongoing court process regarding the funeral and burial arrangements of our beloved father, the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba”.

“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that and that we do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements,” it further indicates.

The children added that their only wish give their father a “dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions.”

They urged the media to be measured in their communication.

“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their commentary regarding the family, any ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements. We believe our father deserves a farewell that reflects the peace, dignity, and unity he valued in life,” the statement said.

“Sikadwa will deal with whoever feigns his love for me” – Otumfuo warns

0

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has issued a stern warning to individuals around him who feign affection toward him.

According to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, many smile with him and pretend to love him, but have ill intentions towards him.

The Asantehene highlighted that anyone pretending to love him while harbouring ill motives will be dealt with by the Golden Stool, also known as Sika Dwa Kofi.

Opemsuo.com quoted the Asantehene during an Asanteman Council meeting on October 16, 2025, to have said, “Many of you smile with me, pretending to love me, but have ill intent towards me. Sikadwa will deal with whoever feigns his love for me. I have a pure intent towards all of you”.

The Asantehene further announced plans to hold a closed-door meeting with the traditional leaders, saying, “We all sat here and delivered verdicts on both cases, but when issues arose afterwards, none of you came out to defend the decisions. Your attitude sounds like, ‘Do it alone,’ and I will definitely do it. Some of you secretly spread falsehoods about me outside.

“I was appointed to ascend Sikadwa, and they attached wisdom and power to reign. I will use them to deal with these issues and to rule. You saw Asanteman before my reign, and you have seen how it is now,” he added.

Meanwhile, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II has said anyone who claims the Golden Stool was summoned to descend from the sky is a liar.

According to the Dormahene, the Golden Stool, when it was recently outdoored, looked welded when it was displayed in public.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie”.

“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?” he quizzed.

Also, Historian Anokye Frimpong has revealed that all the Golden Stools in Ghana were made by the Paramount Chief of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, forbears.

According to Anokye Frimpong, Nana Dormaahene’s forbears moulded a Golden Stool, which was seized by the Ashantis and melted.

Speaking to Agyenkwa FM, Anokye Frimpong explained, “Under Opoku I, the Asantes went to war against the people of Dormaa, who were led by Nana Kofi Adu. The Ashantis defeated them and took away their Golden Stool”.

“Because Konfo Anokyi has warned that there must be only one Golden Stool and that if anyone found one, the Ashantis should go to war and conquer it, the Ashantis defeated Dormaa and took hostage of their Golden Stool, melted it, and it became the first Golden Stool melted by the Ashantis in history”.

He further revealed that another great-grandfather of the current Dormaahene, Nana Kwadwo Adinkra Karikari, also manufactured a Golden Stool during the reign of Nana Osei Bonsu as the Asantehene.

He revealed that the stool became the second one which the Ashantis seized through war and destroyed.

Anokye Frimpong added that all the welded Golden Stools in Ghana’s history were made and used by the forbears of the current Dormaahene, but not the Ashantis.

“I delivered monies to either Adu Boahene or his wife” – Mildred Donkor, in her witness statement

Mildred Donkor, the third accused person in the ongoing GHS49 million theft case against Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, in her witness statement after the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, dropped charges against her, has revealed that she delivered money to the first accused or the second accused.

On Wednesday, October 15, a notice filed at the High Court in Accra revealed Ms Donkor was formally discharged under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

The information gathered suggests the decision follows her reported agreement to serve as a prosecution witness in the case.

Mildred Donkor is now expected to give insight into the alleged theft and misappropriation of state funds by the former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited.

It will be recalled, Kwabena Adu Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng, Mildred Donkor, and one other have been charged by the state for stealing, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to the charge sheet, Kwabena Adu Boahene and his wife stole state funds to the tune of GHc 49 million.

The Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, filed 11 charges against Kwabena Adu-Boahene and three others at the High Court in Accra.

“NPP got too arrogant, they don’t have values” – Buaben Asamoa

0

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the General Secretary of the United Party (UP), has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) got too arrogant and lacks values.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse, Yaw Buaben Asamoa revealed that he does not intend to go back to the NPP.

It will be recalled that the NPP revoked the membership of Yaw Buaben Asamoa and three others after they publicly endorsed Alan Kyeremanten, other than the party’s elected flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, speaking on JOYNEWS, stated, “Everything they performed was overshadowed by the lack of humaneness. For me, that is the biggest problem that party has. It got too arrogant”.

“I don’t intend to go back to the NPP. They don’t have values. First of all, let’s examine the NPP — which NPP are we talking about now?”

“As far as I recollect, the roots of the NPP came from the CPP tradition for about eight years. The party was later managed by a chairman who had CPP roots but became NPP. The presidential candidate that took over has NDC antecedents, and his wife is from a PNC family with NDC connections,” he explained.

His remarks come at a time when Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s newly rebranded United Party (UP).

Also, National Chairman of the United Party, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, has rejected the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) amnesty to return to the party.

According to Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, they were sacked and have no intention of going back to the NPP.

He emphasised that the NPP had no moral ground to offer forgiveness when no crime had been committed to warrant their expulsion.

Speaking during the rebranding of the Movement of Change to the United Party, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique stated, “We were sacked from the NPP, but now they want to grant us amnesty? We will not go back”.

“We were sacked. But today they claim they are giving us amnesty. What does amnesty mean? What crime did our leader commit? What crime did I commit in the NPP for you to sack me? And today you are telling me you are giving me amnesty. No way,” he said.

He further drew a comparison to their situation with that of Islamic marriage, “When you divorce a woman three times in Islam, she’s no longer your wife until kingdom come,” he added, amid applause”.

Meanwhile, Inusah Fuseini, the former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has weighed in on Alan Kyerematen’s rebranding of his Movement for Change into a full-blown political party.

Recall Alan Kyerematen, after the NPP’s primary defeat, left to form the Movement for Change to contest the 2024 general election as an independent candidate.

According to Inusah Fuseini, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made a tragic mistake in letting Alan Kyerematen leave the party.

He emphasised that if Alan’s United Party grows strong and formidable, that could signal the demise of the NPP.

Inusah Fuseini is quoted by TV3 to have said, The NPP made a tragic mistake by letting Alan Kyerematen leave their party. In my view, if the United Party grows strong and formidable, that will signal the demise of the NPP”.

We have turned the corner, economy back on track – BoG Governor

0

Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has declared at the IMF/World Bank talks that Ghana’s economy has turned the corner.

The BoG Governor declared that Ghana’s economy is back on track after years of instability.

He described Ghana’s economy as being “back on track” following months of policy discipline.

Speaking at the IMF/World Bank Governor Talk Series in Washington, D.C., under the theme “From Crisis to Confidence: Ghana’s Journey to Macroeconomic Stabilisation,” Dr Asiama stated, “We came to meet a challenged economy in the sense that, remember, we had a domestic debt issue in 2022, fiscal policy was highly expansionary. It led to our exiting the international financial market. There was a resort to domestic financing.

“We remember all the sovereign downgrades we had to suffer. We came into office with a lot of liquidity, high inflation, [and an exchange rate that was depreciating widely,” he said.

He added, “And I remember when we came in, there were talks about whether we should cancel the programme altogether, there were doubts as to whether we would be able to carry on the programme.

“But I am happy to say that eight months down the road, we have turned the corner. Ghana is back,” Dr Asiama declared.

The Governor added, “Growth has rebounded, inflation has cooled, and Ghana is now outperforming expectations under the IMF programme. Inflation, which stood at 23.5 per cent in January 2025, has since dropped to 9.4 per cent in September — the first single-digit rate in four years, beating the government’s 11.9 per cent target.”

The BoG Boss also revealed that the Central Bank occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi for periods of exceptional market pressure.

The BoG Governor refuted claims that the Central Bank is overstepping its bounds in managing the foreign exchange market.

According to the BoG Governor, the Central Bank’s actions fall within a flexible exchange rate framework aimed only at curbing excessive volatility.

Dr Asiama explained, “The framework that we have is a flexible exchange rate management framework. Essentially, what we do is smooth excessive volatilities. Yes, there were allegations about whether we were intervening in the market, but that was not exactly the case”

Dr Asiama highlighted that in the second and third quarters of 2025, Ghana undertook several “lumpy” foreign payments, including billions of U.S. dollars to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and domestic bondholders, adding that at the same time, remittance inflows weakened, draining liquidity from the interbank foreign exchange market.

He added, “In the mix of that, the central bank had to step in. The interbank FX market had dried up, so the central bank had to provide that support”.

“We do not over-support the market at all. What we seek to do is limit volatility to ensure smooth dynamics in the market, and that is the framework we will maintain going forward,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Ghana’s Minister of Finance, has assured international investors that the country’s economic gains will be sustained.

Dr Forson, at the same event, declared that “Ghana is on track. We will sustain the gains.”

Security recruitment under NDC merit-based, no more ‘protocol’ – Asiedu Nketia

0

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed that security recruitment under the NDC government would be merit-based.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the NDC government will make sure security services are properly balanced, even regionally.

He emphasised that the government will end the era of protocol recruitment into Ghana’s security services.

The NDC Chairman revealed that the Mahama government is committed to building a transparent and credible security recruitment system that reflects Ghana’s diversity and national cohesion.

Speaking in the Akatsi North constituency as part of his thank-you tour on Thursday, October 16, 2025, Asiedu Nketia stated, “We will make sure that our security services are properly balanced, even regionally.

We are departing from a system where people are recruited based on their surnames to ensure that the services are truly representative and professional”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) announced the commencement of the 2025 enlistment and recruitment across all 16 regional capitals of the country.

The recruitment process has been officially published in state-owned newspapers, including the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times.

According to the GAF, the decentralised recruitment is aimed at offering equal opportunity to all eligible applicants, regardless of location.

GAF, in an earlier press release issued on Monday, September 29, stated, “The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to inform the general public that the 2025 Enlistment/Recruitment? Enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces will commence in the coming days at all the regional capitals of the 16 Regions of the country. This approach offers equal opportunity for all potential applicants in the entire country,

The enlistment/recruitment exercise will be announced through the official Ghana Armed Forces platforms such as gafonline.mil.gh, gafrecruitment.mil.gh, in addition to the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times newspapers”.

The statement further added, “The general Public is kindly informed that any purported recruitment links on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or any other social media platforms inviting people for protocol recruitment is a scam and should be ignored.

Additionally, no such enlistment/recruitment invitation will emanate from any member of the Ghana Armed Forces or its High Command and should be ignored as well.

The Ghana Armed Forces counts on the cooperation of the general public in this endeavour”.

Also, Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has said a maximum enlistment age of 35 years would serve our young people better.

According to Sam George, there are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation.

Sam George called for the re-examination of the maximum age for enlistment into Ghana’s military services.

In a post on X, Sam George wrote, “I honestly believe it is time for our beloved Nation to re-examine the maximum age for enlistment into our military services.

There are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation. We must not deny them this opportunity simply because of their age.

There is a precedent across the world. I believe an upper limit of 35 years would serve our young people better. Let’s nurture their dreams and not kill them.

For God and Country”, he added.

“I’m working hard to be at the World Cup” – Richard Ofori

0

Ghana Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori has set his sights on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Richard Ofori, who is currently playing for AmaZulu FC in South Africa, has revealed he is working hard to join the Black Stars at the World Cup.

According to Richard Ofori, he is focusing on his performance at AmaZulu FC, which will propel him to be called up for the Black Stars.

Speaking to iDiski Times, Richard Ofori stated, “I’m working hard and then focusing on my team at the moment. That’s what you need to do for you to be there [at the World Cup]”.

He further revealed that he hasn’t spoken to Ghana coach Otto Addo recently.

“Recently no [haven’t spoken to the coach] but before, he used to call me, and he’s a good man, so he used to check up on his players. He hasn’t abandoned any player, but we focus more on the ones that they are playing, because the World Cup qualifiers were so intense”, Richard Ofori stated.

Additionally, Saddick Adams, a veteran sports journalist, has revealed that Eddie Nketiah, an English player of Ghanaian descent, is open to playing for the Black Stars.

According to Saddick Adams, Eddie Nketiah had, some years ago, rejected Ghana’s approach when officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) approached him.

The Angel FM presenter added that the Crystal Palace striker now feels mature and is ready to play for the national team if given a call-up.

Saddick Adams, in a post on X, wrote, “Spoke to Eddie Nketiah’s family this weekend to get clarity on the stories about his switch.

The source admitted that Eddie Nketiah had previously spoken to the Ghana coach and some GFA top officials, but he had not settled at his club yet, so he couldn’t make a decision”.

He added, “However, Nketiah is now settled and at 26, mature enough and ready to ‘give his very best’ if Ghana calls now.

Says he has Ghana blood running through him, so his “identity is unquestionable”.

Basically, he’s open to playing for Ghana now”.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars yesterday, 12 October 2025, officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing the qualifiers as leaders in their Group.

Ghana defeated Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Mohammed Kudus scoring the only goal in the game.

After 10 games in group I, the Black Stars topped the table with 25 points, Madagascar second with 19 points, Mali third with 18 points, Comoros 15, Central African Republic 8 and Chad in sixth place with 1.

Ghana joined the list of qualified countries on the African continent, with Coach Otto Addo now becoming the first Black Stars coach to reach two consecutive FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaian fans have reacted to the news, saying,  He won’t be the first or last. Kwasi Sibo played just 2 or 3 games. He’s welcome. Don’t be surprised to see another Ghanaian prospect included, even though he’s unknown by most Ghanaians and didn’t participate in the qualifiers just as Eddie Nketiah did.

It’s still a long road to the World Cup, and as unpredictable as life can be, some active players might be injured, which I don’t pray for by the way”.

Another wrote, “He’s Ghanaian and eligible for the Black Stars. It’s up to the coach to call him. Every Ghanaian must have a chance to play for the Black Stars. Iñaki Williams, who said he didn’t feel Ghanaian kraa is playing for Ghana”.

“I don’t understand the fuss about this. If they play for Ghana and we win, will the glory go to Togo?”, a netizen added.

One more Ghanaian added, “That’s refreshing news!  Eddie Nketiah’s talent and maturity would be a massive boost for the Black Stars. If he’s ready to commit heart and soul, then it’s time to welcome him home. Ghana is where his story truly belongs”.

“If United Party grows strong, that could signal the demise of NPP” – Inusah Fuseini

0

Inusah Fuseini, the former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has weighed in on Alan Kyerematen’s rebranding of his Movement for Change into a full-blown political party.

His comments come on the heels of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, who has officially rebranded his Movement for Change to the United Party (UP Plus).

The rebranding was revealed in a ceremony in Accra on Thursday, October 16, 2025, signalled a fresh start and paid tribute to a name of historical significance in Ghanaian politics.

Speaking at the official unveiling of UP Plus, party Chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface, National Chairman of the United Party (UP), stated, “Today, we present to you the United Party or UP Plus.  The UP Plus is a political organisation meant to bring real change to governance.

“We will make a difference because of our focus on universal values and respect for the leadership of competence. We are not just taking people to lead us, but people who are credible, competent, and have a vision,” he stated.

Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface further rejected the NPP’s amnesty to return to the party.

He stated, “We were sacked from the NPP, but now they want to grant us amnesty? We will not go back”.

“We were sacked. But today they claim they are giving us amnesty. What does amnesty mean? What crime did our leader commit? What crime did I commit in the NPP for you to sack me? And today you are telling me you are giving me amnesty. No way,” he said.

He further drew a comparison to their situation with that of Islamic marriage, “When you divorce a woman three times in Islam, she’s no longer your wife until kingdom come,” he added, amid applause”.

Alan Kyerematen, the Leader of the United Party, also stated, “The vision of the United Party is to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040”.

“A new dawn that will bring about economic transformation, which will translate into massive job opportunities, usher in a golden age of business, and create prosperity for our country, Ghana

“A new dawn that will mobilise the collective strengths and talents of all Ghanaians for national development, irrespective of age, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.

“A new dawn that will promote accountable and transparent governance and introduce a policy of zero tolerance for corruption. A new dawn that will at least protect the environment and promote sustainable development. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, this is what underpins the establishment of the United Party,” he said.

Alan Kyerematen, United Party, has also received its registration certificate from the Electoral Commission on October 3, 2025, formally cementing its new identity.

The rebranding marks a new chapter for the former Trade and Industry Minister’s political ambition as he seeks to end the dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

AG drops charges against Mildred Donkor, as she agrees to snitch on Adu-Boahene

0

The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has dropped charges against Mildred Donkor, the third accused person in the ongoing GHS49 million theft case against Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng.

Earlier, Ms Donkor abruptly dismissed her lawyer in open court on July 18, saying, “I wish to take a separate lawyer, please,” she told the judge at the time.

Mildred Donkor, in her witness statement, labelled her association with the first and second accused persons as longstanding from their days at Cedar Mountain Assemblies of God Church in East Legon.

She revealed she became a director of Advantage Solutions Limited at the request of Mr Adu-Boahene, adding that “Although I was listed as a director, I had no decision-making power and only acted on instructions from Mr Adu-Boahene and Madam Adjei-Boateng,” she said.

The AG is now expected to rely on her testimony to strengthen its case against the remaining accused persons.

“The charges filed against the accused persons included: stealing, contrary to Section 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29); conspiracy to steal, contrary to Sections 23(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960; and defrauding by false pretences, contrary to Section 131(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

Some of the other charges against them are: wilfully causing financial loss to the state, contrary to Section 179A(3)(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29); using public office for profit, contrary to Section 179C(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29); and collaboration to commit a crime, to wit, using public office for profit, contrary to Section 179C(b) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29)”.

Additionally, Justice Srem Sai, the Deputy Attorney-General, has debunked rumours that the Attorney-General’s office has lost evidence in the ongoing criminal trial of the Republic v Adu-Boahene.

According to the Deputy Attorney-General, as of June 18, 2025, the Attorney-General’s office had filed all the documents which it intended to rely on to prove the charges against the four accused persons.

The deputy Attorney-General in a post on Facebook wrote, “As of June 18, we had filed all the documents which we intend to rely on to prove the charges against the 4 accused persons in the case.

The documents include contracts of sale, bank wire transfer records, bank account statements, company registration documents, property ownership records and purchase receipts, INTERPOL stolen vehicle records, investigative caution statements and charge statements of each accused person, records of asset non-declaration, a flow chat of money movements through a complex web of bank accounts, and testimonies of our 3 prosecution witnesses”.

Justice Srem Sai further added, “Further, court-certified copies of each of these documents have been duly served on each of the accused persons. So, it is not even realistic that the documents could be lost so as to jeopardise the prosecution of the case”.

The Deputy AG further revealed the current state of the trial, “ Before the start of the legal vacation on July 31, the first of our 3 prosecution witnesses had completed testifying and had been cross-examined by the lawyers of 3 of the 4 Accused Persons”.

“We occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi” – BoG Governor

0

Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has revealed that the Central Bank occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi for periods of exceptional market pressure.

The BoG Governor refuted claims that the Central Bank is overstepping its bounds in managing the foreign exchange market.

According to the BoG Governor, the Central Bank’s actions fall within a flexible exchange rate framework aimed only at curbing excessive volatility.

Speaking at the IMF–World Bank Governor Talk Series in Washington, D.C., Dr Asiama explained, “The framework that we have is a flexible exchange rate management framework.

Also, Dr Johnson Asiama says Ghana’s economy has made a firm recovery after years of instability.

He described Ghana’s economy as being “back on track” following months of policy discipline.

Dr Asiama stated, “We came to meet a challenged economy in the sense that, remember, we had a domestic debt issue in 2022, fiscal policy was highly expansionary. It led to our exiting the international financial market. There was a resort to domestic financing.

“We remember all the sovereign downgrades we had to suffer. We came into office with a lot of liquidity, high inflation, [and an exchange rate that was depreciating widely,” he said.

Inflation, which stood at 23.5 per cent in January 2025, has since dropped to 9.4 per cent in September — the first single-digit rate in four years, beating the government’s 11.9 per cent target.”

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Ghana’s Minister of Finance, has assured international investors that the country’s economic gains will be sustained.

Dr Forson, at the same event, declared that “Ghana is on track. We will sustain the gains.”

Both will be in court to answer charges of alleged financial misconduct involving several million cedis during their roles at the National Service Authority (NSA).

The former NSS boss is facing multiple counts under sections “179A(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 1(2)(c) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044)”.

Willfully causing financial loss to the state through the fake hire-purchase arrangement, Abuse of public office for personal gain and Money laundering through the transfer of funds into personal and affiliated accounts”.

‘Shoe shine’ posing as a soldier, amazingly scams a nurse big time

0

A shoe shine at the Burma Camp posing as a soldier has scammed a young nurse, Esther Onsonyameye.

According to the nurse, she was deceived by a man she believed to be a soldier, only to later discover that he was actually polishing shoes at Burma Camp for a living.

Esther, in a post shared by Crime Check Ghana, revealed she has always dreamed of marrying a soldier, and so when she met Frank Anaab on social media dressed in a military uniform, she imagined her dream had come true.

She revealed their relationship blossomed, and for a year, she thought she was dating a real soldier.

The post by Crime Check Ghana on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, detailed how Esther Onsonyameye was scammed. It read, “I bought assorted provisions, mosquito net, bedsheets and others that will make him comfortable at his camp, not knowing he was a fake soldier. He deceived me.’

Esther Onsonyameye, a nurse, rather fell into the hands of a ‘shoe shiner’. She had promised herself to marry a soldier at all costs”.

The post further narrated, “Esther said she fell for Frank Anaab when she met him on social media, donning an army uniform and parading himself as a soldier. That was where their relationship began.

The young nurse said they dated for a year only to find out that her lover boy was a fake soldier. During the period of the relationship, though she usually spent the night with Frank, he always told her he would go to work later in the evening, which gave her cause to believe him.

However, according to Esther, because she loved to show off her boyfriend, she posted Frank on social media only to be contacted by about four ladies who also claimed to be girlfriends of Frank”.

It continued, “Esther said she then teamed up with the other ladies to teach Frank a lesson, which led to the shocking discovery that he was a ‘shoe shiner’ at Burma Camp but not a soldier.

The nurse said it was confirmed during an interrogation she masterminded that her infamous boyfriend could not mention his unit number and other details”.

She added that the fake soldier took money from her, claiming hw would pay back when he got paid by the military, revealing that he had duped many unsuspecting victims.

The post added, “She said Frank took money from her, promising to pay her back when his salary is paid to him. She said it was a ploy to get money from her, and it is the same strategy he used to make money from the other ladies he had dated.

Frank has used his modus operandi to defraud many unsuspecting victims with the promise of helping them get recruited into the army.

But is it by force to marry a soldier at all costs? All the same, will you blame Esther for loving genuinely and spending on his dream man, whom she didn’t know was a shoeshiner?”

“China needed this more” – Prof Bokpin on zero-tariff deal

0

Professor Godfred Bokpin, an economist, has weighed in on Ghana’s zero-tariff deal with China.

He noted that the deal must be seen primarily from China’s perspective, not Ghana’s.

According to him, China stands to gain more from the zero-tariff trade agreement with Ghana.

Prof. Bokpin criticised the government for failing to consult key stakeholders like before agreeing to the deal.

He highlighted that even before the agreement, Chinese goods had already flooded the Ghanaian market.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on October 15, Prof. Bokpin stated, “China needed this more. China wants to reduce its exposure to the US market and diversify. China has been doing this consistently.

“If you look at the expansion in terms of trade openness between China and Africa, you can see China is very strategic. They want to reduce their exposure to the US, and they need markets.”

He noted, “Do you want it to get worse?” he asked. “Even with some level of tariffs, Chinese goods are all over the place.”

“They are the big players, the ones doing the numbers,” he said. “You needed broad-based consultation to understand how they see it.”

He added, “This is just an aspect of a bigger picture that China has for Africa. Recently, a team of experts from China visited Ghana to identify investable projects—part of a broader agenda.”

Prof Bokpin noted that Ghana did not have a choice, “We don’t have an option. China is quite powerful as a trading partner and a development partner. Given what we have seen in the last 20 years with Paris Club creditors and the rise of non-Paris Club creditors, we don’t have many options.”

“Have we sat down to develop a strategy? Does Africa have a strategy to engage the rest of the world?” he asked.

He further pointed to Ghana’s structural weaknesses, “Having the African Continental Free Trade Area doesn’t mean we are taking advantage of it. It’s like saying that because Africa has more slots in the World Cup, it will win. It depends on how you prepare your players, who are your industrial sector actors and investors.”

“Our economic orientation is not designed to favour exports. Everything we are doing here is import-driven,” he said.

“Look at our financial system—it supports imports, not production. The portion of private sector credit that goes to agriculture and manufacturing is small compared to what goes to services that fund trade.”

Meanwhile, President John Mahama and Lordina Dramani Mahama, the first lady, were in Beijing, China, on October 12, 2025, to participate in a Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.

President Mahama and President Xi seized the opportunity to finalise the 0% tariff agreement signed on October 28, 2025.

Ghana has now become the second African country to seal a 0% tariff agreement with China and usher in a new era of enhanced and unimpeded trade.

Reports suggest China is Ghana’s largest bilateral trading partner with 2024 trade volumes exceeding US$11.8billion.

I dreamt of becoming a pilot, a lawyer, or even a president – Shatta Wale

0

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has revealed he dreamt of becoming a pilot, a lawyer, or even the president.

According to Shatta Wale, he always had the dream to lead and make an impact.

He recounted that his peers often listened to him and took his words seriously,

Shatta Wale revealed that his love for aviation sometimes made him spend hours playing pilot simulation games.

Speaking on Joy Prime, Shatta Wale stated, “With law, it’s not too late, but I don’t think it suits my schedule now. For politics, it’s in my blood. My dad is a politician; he worked with the late JJ Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu, so I could have pursued if I wanted.”

He further revealed he was not the best student in class, but he has been able to figure it out in life.

Shatta Wale also praised his father, Shatta Capo, for instilling in him the habit of self-education and discipline.

He recalled, “My father valued self-education. His principle was ‘know thyself and align with your dreams.’ I was never in the last ten until SHS; that was my wake-up call, and it never happened again” .

“I wish I had pursued those because music has been stressful. But I always say whatever God plans for you is the best,” he said with a laugh.

The Dancehall artiste added, “My parents were strict, but education-wise wise I wasn’t good; my sisters were also doing well, even though I was not last from primary to Junior high school.

When I went to the SHS the first time, I saw myself in the last 10; I was shocked. So I got some friends in school, we were not going to class, like stuff like that”.

He added, “My parents, my dad was more like no dire self spirit, education was part of the plan, all he wanted me to know was just be aware of myself, who I am, and what I am in the world to do. What career can I pursue to be very successful? My dad was self-educated; he was always teaching me in the house.

Even though I still have problems with him, he really took me to a school of life. I tell my team all the time I am not intelligent, I am not the best guy in class, but I have been able to figure out what life is, so I move accordingly”.

Also, Shatta Wale in the same interview acknowledged the work of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) boss Raymond Archer.

According to Shatta Wale, what Raymond Archer arrested him was God-ordained.

The dancehall artiste revealed that Raymond Archer is now his best friend and feels God sent him to educate all Ghanaians on how to buy properties from the right source.

He added, “Raymond Archer is now my best friend. I feel God sent him for us to educate the people of Ghana, that is what he did on how to buy cars from the right sources.

So, that is one of the problems we have solved in this country; people might think he arrested me, but all that he did was God-ordained; he has really opened our eyes to certain things”.

He added, “It is about time the youth have to be wise and know how to purchase properties, that is what I am doing right now”.

“Ken Agyapong deliberately increased the price of gas so Dr Bawumia would lose the election” – Abronye claims

0

Kwame Baffoe, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, commonly known as Abronye DC, has accused Kennedy Agyapong of working against the party in the run-up to the 2024 election.

Abronye accused Kennedy Agyapong of deliberately increasing the price of gas in November 2024, as the Chairman of Ghana Gas, to make Dr Bawumia unpopular ahead of the election.

Speaking on his show on Ohia TV, Abronye stated, “Gas was increased about 8 per cent to affect Bawumia, for Ghanians to be mad and vote against him. he deliberately did that, because he was the Board Chairman of Ghana Gas”.

When he was not voted as the NPP presidential candidate, he decided to punish the party by increasing the price of gas for Ghanaians to vote against the NPP. In November 2024, he increased it. After that, he is now telling us that Bawumia is a bad candidate.

He further added, “There was a video about Kennedy Agyapong claiming that all the astroturf in the country was being done by the Ghana Gas. After they voted against him, Kennedy Agyapong claimed he was not going to construct any more astroturf”.

In related news, Abronye has accused Kennedy Agyapong’s bodyguard of orchestrating his second arrest on October 8, 2025.

According to Abronye, the bodyguard reportedly petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to use his platform to insult his boss, Kennedy Agyapong.

Speaking on his Ohia TV show on October 8, 2025, Abronye detailed, “I went to the police station as usual, per the court order, and I was told to write my charge statement.

In less than 20 minutes, I wrote it and was waiting for them to release me. But I saw some police officers come to arrest me again for the same offence that I had earlier been remanded for”.

He added, “This time, it was Seth Sewornu who was the complainant. The day I went to the police headquarters and got remanded, Hon Kennedy Agyapong’s bodyguard brought a petition to Seth Sewornu.

He came to greet me because he knows me. Today, the same bodyguard who brought the petition that I used my platform to insult Kennedy Agyapong has brought another petition, claiming I have used the platform to insult Seth Sewornu. So, today’s charges, Kennedy Agyapong’s bodyguard is behind them”.

Abronye further revealed that he was detained for nine hours and was later granted bail of ₵1 million.

He recounted, “They detained me from morning, around 9 A.M., till 5:30 P.M. in the evening before I was granted bail of ₵1 million”.

He further detailed that Yaw Adjei Sarkodie and Moses Abbor stood surety for his bail, together with Poyoo, a former member of the Security Operations Unit at the Jubilee House.

Additionally,  Abronye has revealed he is fully prepared to face the NPP’s committee and defend his actions against Kennedy Agyapong.

He called for a live broadcast as he agreed to face the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Disciplinary Committee following his referral for alleged misconduct.

Abronye revealed he is prepared to provide evidence of Kennedy Agyapong’s anti-Christ actions and inactions.

“I hereby write to indicate my full preparedness and willingness to appear before the Committee to comprehensively lay bare and substantiate the anti-Christ actions and inactions of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong,” Abronye stated.

Abronye further propose that the sittings of the committee be conducted openly and broadcast live so the rank and file of the NPP may have the opportunity to witness Kennedy Agyapong’s antichrist posture and conduct.

“I have stopped eating salad, kontomire ever since NDC came to power” – NPP’s Vice Chairman

0

Alhaji Masawudu, the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its failure to effectively tackle illegal mining.

He noted that the NDC failure has resulted in the pollution of water bodies and the contamination of our food supply.

According to Alhaji Masawudu, since the NDC came to power, he has stopped eating salads, kontomire and okro.

Speaking in an interview shared on social media, Alhaji Masawudu said, “The dealings of galamsey have contaminated our vegetables, so today I have stopped eating salad, if you give me kontomire for free, I will not accept it and even okro.

He added, “These days, if I fry eggs, I just use salt. I really like eggs, so sometimes I can fry about ten eggs and eat them.”

In related news, Prof Nana Ama Browne Klutse, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has said Ghana will need US$200,000 to pilot nano nano-liquid technological solution to reverse the devastation caused by illegal mining (galamsey).

According to the Executive Director EPA, the dechemicalization solution, containing a copper-based ‘nano liquid,’ has been laboratory-tested and proven effective in purifying heavily contaminated rivers.

She revealed the EPA is looking at various options, including membrane-based purification.

Speaking on JOYNEWS The Probe, October 5, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse explained, “I want to tell my fellow Ghanaians that there is still hope, because we are in a technology age”.

“Yes, there’s a nano liquid that is copper-based that can be used. That’s just one”.

She added, “We have tried this, which has been tested in Greece. I have seen for myself. We have done the test in the lab for the EPA and advised the government on this; we have tested it, and it works, and it’s doable.”

“To do pilots to show to Ghanaians and even the presidents that this is doable. We need 200,000 USD if I get it today, we will do the pilot for every Ghanaian to see that with the flowing river, this particular technology can be used.”

“We are looking at all of the options, and we will have to decide on the one that is more affordable, not just cheap affordable, because it’s effective and also cost-effective”, Prof Nana Ama Browne Klutse added.

Also, a Toxicologist, Yakubu Adam, has issued a blunt warning that no amount of cooking or seasoning can destroy mercury, a heavy metal found in foodstuffs.

The toxicologist revealed that mercury, which is a heavy metal, has a lifespan of 880 years.

Toxicologist Yakubu Adam directly linked this immutable fact to the recent cases of food poisoning.

He argued that without a decisive end to illegal mining (galamsey), there is no viable solution to the contamination of the food supply.

Speaking on TV3 New Day, Toxicologist Yakubu Adam explained, “When it comes to the mercury that we are talking about, it is a heavy metal and it is also non-biodegradable, meaning it can never be destroyed when it gets into the environment, it stays in the environment.

One thing about this mercury is that if you end up taking it in your body, and you pass on through the natural process when they bury you inside the soil, you go with the mercury in your grave, so this mercury can stay in the environment for about 880 years without being destroyed, and there is nothing that can destroy it.

No amount of heat, no amount of salt, no amount of whatever you think can. You know this is not a bacterial infection or a fungal infection. They are not caused by parasites; this is heavy metals”.

He added, “It is about time the youth have to be wise and know how to purchase properties, that is what I am doing right now”.

Shatta Wale further thanked the staff of EOCO for their professionalism.

He added, “To all the staff of EOCO, you guys have been wonderful. At least I came there, you guys really took me through the rightful processes that were needed and I just want to say God bless you”

“To Mr. Raymond Archer, I just want to tell you I thank you so much for your understanding. I thank you so much for cooperating.”

Court adjourned Akosua Serwaa’s injunction application on Daddy Lumba’s funeral

The High Court in Kumasi has adjourned the hearing of an injunction application filed by Akosua Serwaa, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, to October 28.

“Refusing to concede defeat, cowardice, and a danger to our democracy” – Miracles Aboagye replies Ken Agyapong

0

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has tackled Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central Member of Parliament and presidential candidate hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), following his recent comment.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, until the last constituency is counted, he will never accept defeat.

Reacting to Kennedy Agyapong’s comments in a post on a social media page on Facebook, asserted that Dr Bawumia’s courageous act in time saved Ghana’s peace.

Ken Agyapong’s comments come on the back of the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession speech, less than 12 hours after the 2024 election.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had already given details of some of the events that led to his concession speech.

Speaking to a gathering, Dr Bawumia stated, “Even though the Electoral Commission had not yet pronounced, in fact, some of my people in my team were saying you can’t go out to concede, we don’t know if all this data is right, let’s wait. And all of that. I said, Look, we know this data is right from our own system, you know, so if you wait, you build up more tension, and violence could come because people would think we are trying to rig the election.

“Because that is the message that is coming, that we are trying to rig the election. But nobody has ever conceded an election without the EC coming out to pronounce. And I said there’s a first time for everything. For the interest of the peace and stability of our country, I will come out, I’ll be the first person to concede even before the EC comes out”, he said.

He added, “And so at 9 am I came out and I conceded right here where we are standing. I spoke to the country, I said that I believe that in the interest of peace and security, our democracy and also our economic environment, any violence discourages investors from coming to this country, and it only encourages the terrorists around our sub-region to come here because there is instability, and this is not what God has for Ghana. God wants a peaceful Ghana.”

“If there is anyone who should be in Nsawam Prison, it is Mahama” – Kwamena Duncan

0

Kwamena Duncan, a former Central Regional Minister under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, has fumed at President John Mahama following his recent remarks about the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The former Regional Minister highlighted that if President Mahama truly had integrity in fighting corruption, he should have started from his party, adding that in three weeks since he assumed office, the NDC government entered a nolle prosequi and cleared its members.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, Kwamena Duncan stated, “Mahama said he was watching PAC, and he needs a fast-track to Nsawam. If there is anyone who should be in Nsawam Prison, it should be President Mahama himself because, in my view, he was involved in the purchase of aeroplanes for the Armed Forces”.

He said he is going to meet the Attorney General. We are talking about the country’s resources and yet, individuals standing trial for sums totalling over GH₵7 billion have been freed by the state through nolle prosequi, including the finance minister, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana. These are big monies; if indeed they had integrity, the system itself should pronounce that integrity for them. Let the system clear them”.

“If they truly had integrity, the judicial system itself should have cleared them. But instead, two or three weeks you entered into a nolle prosequi in the cases and freed all of them, then you turn around complaining about the Public Accounts Committee? Why were the NDC people freed? Don’t they also deserve a fast-track trial?” Duncan questioned.

His comments come on the heels of President Mahama saying it is so pathetic watching Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearings.

President Mahama noted that there should be a process to fast-track the prosecution of state officials who engage in financial malpractices exposed by the Auditor-General’s report.

John Mahama expressed deep concern over the persistent recklessness and scale of financial irregularities uncovered each year at the Public Accounts Committee sittings.

According to John Mahama, he is meeting with the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, and others to find a final solution to the Auditor-General’s report.

Speaking at the 12th Annual Conference of Chairpersons of Governing Boards and Chief Executives of Public Services in Ho on Wednesday, October 8, John Mahama lamented, “Recently, I’ve been watching the Public Accounts Committee, and it’s so pathetic, you know. Why must we every year congregate at the Public Accounts Committee, and then you hear all kinds of atrocious, you know, things? I mean, recklessness with public funds and resources.

“And so, I have a meeting on Thursday with the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, and others to find a final solution to this Auditor-General’s report. Those persons who infringe, are found guilty of infractions, or do not follow due procedure, or lead to loss of public resources — we must have a fast-track process,” he said.

John Mahama further cried out that despite the constitutional provisions guiding the implementation of audit recommendations, very little has been achieved

He explained, “We’ve not fully implemented the constitutional provision. There is a part that says after the Public Accounts Committee has sat on the Auditor-General’s report, Parliament must set up a committee to implement the findings”.

“What we don’t know is whether it should be a parliamentary committee or one made up of non-parliamentarians.”

“Every department is supposed to set up an ARIC, but once they’ve come from the Public Accounts Committee, virtually nobody follows up on the recommendations,” he said.

President Mahama added, “The audit reports implementation committees are not working. We must find a way to create a deterrent, until people know they can be held responsible for these things they do.”

“If we save GH¢15 billion, can you imagine what it could do? We must hold those who misuse the people’s resources to account so that others do not follow suit.”

“Akufo-Addo gave me a blank cheque” – New Juaben South MP

0

Michael Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, has revealed how former President Akufo-Addo gave him a blank cheque.

According to Okyere Baafi, his loyalty to Akufo-Addo earned him an appointment and also a blank cheque.

Speaking in an interview on JoyPrime, Michael Okyere Baafi stated, “So, we believe in him, you know, he has been our father for a very long time… Remember, sometimes we went to him for support when he was a lawyer. I loyally work for him. I believe in loyalty. Politics is about loyalty and commitment”.

He further disclosed that he was the first person to receive an appointment under the Akufo-Addo administration due to his loyalty and commitment.

The New Juaben South MP Added, “I think one of the privileges I had working with the president then, before he became the president… I think I was the first CEO to be appointed in Akufo-Addo’s government.

I was given my appointment on the 25th January. Other ministers had not even been appointed. He gave me a blank cheque. That’s the first time I’m saying this. He gave me a blank cheque that I should look for what I wanted. And he gave it to me”, he added.

In related news, Michael Okyere Baafi, some weeks ago, disguised himself as a Taxi driver to hear the worries of his constituents.

In a viral video shared on social media, Michael Okyere Baafi was spotted driving through his constituency and picking up residents and engaging them in a conversation.

According to Michael Okyere Baafi, this move is to get first-hand information on how his constituents are doing.

Speaking during the video, the lawmaker stated, “Most of them didn’t even recognise me. Some only realised who I was at the end of the conversation. It gives me the chance to hear their real concerns without any filters.”

“This approach helps me know their problems firsthand and lobby the government to address them immediately,” he said.

According to the lawmaker, he intends to drive the taxi for 3 days and plans to make such engagements a regular feature of his constituency work.

Meanwhile, Michael Okyere Baafi has revealed he would not seek re-election in 2028 for the New Juaben South seat.

The lawmaker alluded to the worrying state of Ghana’s politics as his main reason not to seek re-election in the 2028 elections.

Speaking in an interview on AsaasePa FM on September 2, 2025, Okyere Baafi stated, “If this is how our politics is turning, then the world is becoming scarier. That’s why some of us, and I, have said that after this term, I won’t seek re-election in 2028”.

He added, “We did all the work and campaigning, and we were confident of winning the election. But the NDC’s strategy was to buy votes. Almost every voter who wanted money was paid about GH¢500-1,000 by the NDC.

They distributed items such as hair dryers, spraying machines and other things. Given the work we put in, there was no way we should have lost. The NDC even had a table with thugs protecting the table, and not even the police could intervene”, he added.

GoldBod’s small-scale gold export generates over US$8bn

0

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) and the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) have revealed Ghana’s small-scale gold export sector has generated over US$8 billion in foreign exchange.

According to the data released by Goldbod, between January and 15th October 2025, over US$8 billion was generated for foreign exchange through the small-scale gold export sector.

The data showed small-scale miners exported 81,719.23 kilograms of gold during the period, valued at US$8.06 billion.

The data showed an increase from US$4.61 billion recorded in 2024, and nearly quadruple the amount achieved in 2023, which was US$2.19 billion.

Sizable monthly gains were in May (US$1.17 billion), June (US$957.9 million), and April (US$897.6 million).

In related news, Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has clarified that the Goldbod is not in the market buying galamsey gold.

The CEO explained that licensed private individuals make the purchases of gold, not GoldBod.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Sammy Gyamfi explained, “To create the impression that nobody was buying galamsey gold and all of a sudden GoldBod is now giving it a market is clearly wrong”.

“There has always been a market for gold anywhere in the world, including Ghana. Have we ever woken up to any news that there is stranded gold in Ghana? There’s always demand,” he said.

He detailed, “Gold Board itself is not on the market buying gold. These licensed buyers are not stationed at mining sites. They sit in their offices, mostly in district and regional capitals, and buy gold brought to them. They have no technology or system to tell whether the gold was mined responsibly or not”.

“It is this five-month-old corporation called Gold Board that has now been given the mandate to find a solution to that problem. You think we can find a solution in five months to a problem that has existed for decades?” he asked.

Sammy Gyamfi further revealed Goldbod’s plans for next year, “By next year, we will commence the rollout of this system. Licensed miners will have to seal and scan their gold with unique codes so buyers can know exactly where it is coming from. Aggregators will also have to trace the origin even after melting.

Currently, because small-scale gold is not traceable, we are limited to markets in Dubai, Hong Kong, India, and Turkey. With traceability, we can access LBMA refineries in Switzerland and China, where prices are higher.

“People are having the wrong impression that Gold Board is in the market buying galamsey gold. Nothing of that sort is happening,” he said.

Sammy Gyamfi, also quizzed critics, claiming the GoldBod is responsible for promoting illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

The Goldbod CEO quizzed how a five-month-old Goldbod could be responsible for an age-long galamsey problem?

Sammy Gyamfi explained, “Let me clear some misconceptions that GoldBod is promoting galamsey. And my simple question to them is how can a five-month-old statutory corporation, GoldBod, be responsible for an age-long galamsey problem?”

“Galamsey has been with us for decades. Last year, there was no GoldBod, but we saw a lot of protests against galamsey because galamsey has reached unprecedented and alarming levels. So how can you say that a corporation that was established barely five months ago is the one to blame for galamsey?” he added.

Sammy Gyamfi, however, clarified that the Goldbod was established to promote environmentally friendly mining practices.

He added, “GoldBod was established to promote sustainability initiatives and environmentally friendly mining practices. If you look at section 31G and H of the GoldBod Act, we have that function. So GoldBod is rather supposed to come and support the fight”.

He further added that the Ministry of Lands and other agencies are responsible for the fight against galamsey.

“We don’t have that mandate; the mandate is that of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and their allied agencies. They have that statutory obligation to fight galamsey. But in stipulating our functions, Parliament said, GoldBod, since you will be in that space, you should support the fight,” he explained.

Mr Gyamfi added. “And in less than five months since our establishment, we’ve done what no institution in Ghana has done”.

“This national anti-illegal mining operation secretariat, which was formed to be a multisectorial central coordinating body for this galamsey fight, for us to optimise resources, they didn’t have money, they didn’t have vehicles.

“In less than five months, GoldBod has given them GH₵5m and five Toyota Hilux vehicles, and we plan to give them more vehicles. And since we gave them support, you’ve seen the renewed fight all over the place,” he said.

“So how can the same GoldBod, established to support the fight against illegal mining and actually supporting the fight against illegal mining by putting in resources, be accused of promoting galamsey?” he questioned.

“We will see what the real polls look like on January 31st”- Bryan Acheampong to Pollsters

0

Bryan Acheampong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, has dismissed polls putting him at just 1% support among delegates ahead of the party’s primary.

In related news, Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has said Kennedy Agyapong and other contenders face a daunting task to catch up with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Mussa Dankwa, it is still not over, but it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate.

He highlighted that Dr Bawumia’s advantage will be difficult to overturn.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Monday, September 29, Mussa Dankwa stated, “It is still not over. I won’t say it is over, but if you look at where the leading candidate is, it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate”.

“We believe that Kennedy has to do a lot more to bring Dr Bawumia down, or his other competitors should do a lot more in order to drag Dr Bawumia from where he is,” he added.

Mussa Dankwa’s remarks come following a latest poll by the Global Info Analytics, which reveals Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

The poll results published on social media platforms by the Global Info Analytics revealed that Dr Bawumia secured 47 per cent of delegate support and is the clear front-runner ahead of the NPP’s primaries.

Dr Bawumia continues to enjoy the confidence of nearly half of the delegates surveyed.

Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central legislator, emerged second with 17 per cent of delegates’ support.

Dr Bryan Acheampong secured only 3 per cent of delegates’ votes, while Dr Yaw Adutwum and Ing Kwabena Agyapong secured 1 per cent of delegates’ votes respectively.

Also, Dickson Kyere-Duah, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, has told the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that whoever wins their flagbearership race will taste a very bitter defeat in 2028.

The NDC MP emphasised that it doesn’t matter who the NPP will present in the 2028 elections, as they are going to be defeated.

According to Dickson Kyere-Duah, the NDC is poised to retain power in 2028.

Speaking on Joy News AM Show, Dickson Kyere-Duah stated, “For me, all five candidates on the ballot paper for NPP, we in the NDC are not so much interested in who wins, because whoever wins is definitely going to taste a very bitter defeat in 2028”.

“It doesn’t matter whether it is Kennedy Agyapong, Bawumia or whoever,” he added.

“GHS6bn needed to absorb all the 74,000 health professionals at home” – Health Minister

0

Mintah Akandoh, the Health Minister, has revealed that Ghana would need about GHS6 billion to recruit all 74,000 unemployed health professionals currently at home.

The health minister highlighted that his ministry is working to clear backlog by collaborating with the Finance Ministry.

Speaking in an interview on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Wednesday, October 15, the Minister explained, “We will need not less than GHS6 billion to be able to absorb all the 74,000 health professionals at home at the moment”.

Mintah Akandoh further clarified that the brouhaha surrounding the 13,000 newly recruited nurses and midwives’ clearance.

The health minister once again blamed the former Akufo-Addo administration for issuing clearance without financial backing.

He stated, “The reality is that in 2024, the government started to recruit nurses and midwives. So the summary is that they recruited about 13,500 nurses and midwives and issued clearance”.

“Once you issue clearance, you must make financial provision. Clearance is not just a paper… you issue clearance when indeed you can pay when you recruit the people.”

“The clearance expired on 31st December 2024. What it means is that before the expiration… you must necessarily have all these 13,500 people on the payroll. As at the end of 31st December 2024, not a single one of the 13,500 people were on the payroll,” he added.

The health minister further revealed that newly recruited nurses started work around August 2024, but were not budgeted for.

Mintah Akandoh explained, “When we came, there were two options available because there was no allocation for these nurses and midwives. One — let them go home and look for the funding and extend the clearance, and then they come and work. Two — you can allow them to work while you look at how you will pay them, because that was not captured as part of our budget”.

“I have been collaborating with the Minister responsible for Finance, and out of the 13,500, we managed to put about 7,000 of them on the payroll. So half of them were being paid,” he said.

According to the Minister, his ministry is working to gradually absorb the workers into the payroll in collaboration with the Finance Ministry.

“The reality is that we captured about 10,000 of them on the payroll, but only 7,000 on the payroll were being paid. Some of them have received payments from March thereabout. We were onboarding them gradually.”

“It got to a time that we realised that there were a lot of things — more than even the 13,500 nurses they had recruited. There were arrears of allowances, there were conditions of services that had been signed, and they were not implemented… So it was like the budget was becoming much bigger. So we realised that if we don’t go back to Cabinet, it will throw the budget off,” the Minister added.

“I have no fears, there’s really no establishment” – Bryan Acheampong on NPP flagbearer race

0

Dr Bryan Acheampong, the presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said he fears no candidate in the party’s flagbearer race.

Meanwhile, in other news, Dr Bryan Acheampong has called on the John Mahama government to enforce a 90-day mandatory ban on all mining activities in the country to help restore our water bodies.

He stressed that it’s difficult to fix a problem while it’s ongoing, and therefore, a pause on galamsey is necessary to facilitate discussions on how mining can be done more sustainably.

Speaking at his campaign office on Wednesday, October 15, Dr Acheampong stated, “… Let’s clear our water bodies, let’s engage in how we go back to mining. We cannot stop or repair the track of a moving train as fast as it is speeding. We need to agree, and I’m not talking about a state of emergency, that mining, regardless of where, should stop now for the next 90 days,” he said.

“Let’s regroup, rethink and see how we can launch back into responsible mining. If our food systems are being poisoned and we just look on, and we prefer to make money, the people will not be around in a very short time to try and address the situation,” he warned.

The main suspect in the murder of Eric Johnson, the owner of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, popularly known as Jirapa ‘DubaiElisha Mahama, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Elisha Mahama was convicted and sentenced, while two other accused persons, Belinda Miller and Kweku Kankumbata, were acquitted and discharged.

The case was presided over by Justice Yussif Assibey at the High Court in Wa.

Recalled, the owner of the safari resort in Jirapa in the Upper West Region was murdered in February 2024.

Mr Eric Johnson, on February 10, 2024, was attacked and stabbed to death at his private residence.

The police situational report revealed he was discovered in a pool of blood the following morning.

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, some suspects were arrested in connection with the murder.

They include Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Belinda Miller and Michael Klugey, all employees of the hotel.

On Monday, February 12, 2024, two other employees, Favour Nuobe and Kweku Kombata, were arrested the following day.

The suspect, Elisha Mahama, was a former human resource manager at the hotel and was sacked for having multiple sexual relationships with more than four female employees.

A seven-member jury unanimously found Elisha Mahama guilty of murder, and he was convicted on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

In court, the prosecution detailed how  Elisha Mahama entered the private residence of Eric Johnson on the night of February 10, scaling the fortified fenced wall with the aid of a ladder.

They also revealed an available phone records to the police indicated that he placed several calls to Belinda Miller asking her where he could locate the master key to Mr Johnson’s room.

The prosecution told the court that Elisha Mahama later entered Mr Johnson’s room and stabbed him multiple times, leaving him naked and in a pool of blood.

According to the prosecutor, he also took an unspecified amount of money from the room and his private Nissan car key, which he used to go out of the crime scene and later abandoned the car at Jirapa Zongo.

The prosecution also revealed that Elisha Mahama, on the evening of the murder, left another girlfriend, Laureate Asare, in his room with the pretext of going to buy her food.

Speaking to the media after the verdict, Principal State Attorney Saeed Abdul Shakur said, “I’m excited to an extent. The wheels of justice, they say, grind slowly. We may never get Eric Johnson back, but at least justice has been served.”

Meanwhile, the late Eric Johnson had recently built the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, nicknamed Jirapa Dubai, in the Upper West Region.

The Jirapa Dubai has a 4-km safari park with various kinds of animals, including zebras. It has an artificial lake with fish, aqua activities or games (Jet Ski).

“Ban all mining for the next 90 days” – Bryan Acheampong tells Mahama

“Let’s regroup, rethink and see how we can launch back into responsible mining. If our food systems are being poisoned and we just look on, and we prefer to make money, the people will not be around in a very short time to try and address the situation,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, continued its offensive against illegal miners in the Eastern Region.

The Minister of Government Communication in a post on X wrote, “The operation led to the destruction of mining equipment, makeshift structures, and other items belonging to illegal miners. These actions form a key part of NAIMOS’ ongoing strategy to protect Ghana’s water bodies, forest reserves, and farmlands from destruction caused by illegal mining (galamsey).

Patrols and Arrests at Old Abirem

The task force first stormed an illegal mining site at Old Abirem, where several mining activities were ongoing. Three locals were seen at the site and subjected to further investigation which led the task force to another active site a few kilometers away. Upon arrival, the team found four excavators with clear evidence of recent operation, as well as significant environmental degradation to nearby vegetation and water bodies.

Equipment and Belongings Destroyed

During the raid, the task force destroyed several items belonging to the illegal miners, including:

– Makeshift structures

– 2 heavy-duty water pumping machines

– Empty Fuel drums

Two of the excavators had their control boards removed, while the other two were found without control boards and monitors. The destruction was carried out to prevent reactivation of the machines.

Further Operations at Kyenkyenku

The team proceeded to Kyenkyenku in the Birim North District, where illegal miners were sighted working just a few meters from a third-class road. Upon noticing the patrol, the miners fled, abandoning an excavator and two containers of diesel fuel. Due to the unavailability of a low-bed truck to convey the excavator to a secure location, the task force immobilized the machine by removing its control board to prevent further use.

Intelligence on Chinese Nationals at Oboho

In a related development, NAIMOS received intelligence regarding Chinese nationals allegedly operating an illegal mining site within a forest reserve in Oboho, Ayensuano District. Upon arrival, no miners were found in the forest, but four excavators were discovered parked in nearby villages close to the reserve.

Cocoa Plantation Site Raid in Birim North

As part of the offensive, the NAIMOS patrol team, moving along the Kade–Otumi–Kwae–Maamaso–Old Abirem–New Abirem–Adadekrom–Akoase corridor, uncovered some illegal mining sites within a cocoa plantation at Old Abirem. Although mining activity had halted due to a “breaking day,” two young locals were found hiding in a makeshift structure.

They disclosed that the site belonged to Chinese operators who had withdrawn their excavators earlier upon hearing of the task force’s presence. The makeshift structure was subsequently set ablaze.

The task force also immobilized a SANY excavator and seized a drum of diesel fuel at Kyenkyenku, before continuing its operations towards Anum Apapam”.

“Raymond Archer arresting me was God-ordained” – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has acknowledged the work of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) boss Raymond Archer.

According to Shatta Wale, what Raymond Archer arrested him was God-ordained.

The dancehall artiste revealed that Raymond Archer is now his best friend and feels God sent him to educate all Ghanaians on how to buy properties from the right source.

Speaking in an interview on JOYPRIME, Shatta Wale stated, “Raymond Archer is now my best friend.

It will be recalled, Shatta Wale was released from EOCO custody on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Shatta Wale was released after fulfilling revised bail conditions.

His earlier bail condition was set at GHC10 million bail with two sureties.

Cephas Boyuo, Shatta Wale’s lawyer, confirmed that the bail amount of GH₵10 million has been reduced to GH₵5 million with two sureties.

As part of the bail conditions, Shatta Wale is expected to report to EOCO three times a week.

Shatta Wale, upon returning home in a live video, stated, “I want to say thank you to my management team… Everybody has been supportive with this, and to you, the fans, I owe you a beautiful concert one of these days because you guys have been supportive”.

“I heard some of you came there from morning, and you didn’t want to leave, but as you have seen my video, you should know Shatta is safe, your king is safe, One Don is safe. I am home now, and I want to say a big thank you for supporting me, for being around me in times like this, because I needed you guys the most. You guys are the ones that hold me down,” he added

Meanwhile, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced that Ghanaian Dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, does not have any documentation to prove ownership of the Lamborghini Urus.

EOCO also revealed the artist has failed to identify who he purchased the Lamborghini Urus from.

According to EOCO, Shatta Wale’s documents in his possession show the Lamborghini Urus is in the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail.

In a statement released by EOCO on Thursday August 21, 2025 stated, “So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus except to say that he bought it from the “street” and from someone possibly called “ZAK,” who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.

So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah also does not possess any documentation in terms of receipt or transfer documents which show that he owns or purchased the said vehicle, except a customs declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail”, he added.

The EOCO statement also revealed that the  2019 Lamborghini Urus has been identified by the FBI and the US Justice Department as proceeds of a $14 million crime involving one Nana Kwabena Amuah.

However, Shatta Wale had previously, in a TikTok live session, claimed he bought his luxury Lamborghini Urus $150,000.

Shatta Wale stated, “I bought the Lamborghini for $150,000 and didn’t know it was from Adu Boahene. I’m leaving the car for you people, don’t come to my house, and let nobody invite me.”

“Raymond Archer, I will leave the car for you people. Don’t come to my house. Don’t let anybody invite me. That’s why I have bought a new Lamborghini,” he fumed.

“The money involved in the NSA Scandal is enough to open a bank” – Solomon Owusu

0

Solomon Owusu, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has said the money involved in the National Service Authority ghost names and fraud scandal is enough to open a bank in Ghana.

According to Solomon Owusu, in Ghana, the minimum capital requirement one needs to run a bank is GH¢400 million, which means Osei Assibey, the Former Executive Director, is a bank plus GH¢100 million.

He further urged, the magnitude of the money involved suggests that the two could not have acted alone and called on them to mention names.

Speaking on a panel discussion on Angel TV on October 14, 2025, Solomon Owusu stated, “The money involved in the NSA scandal is enough to open a bank…some of the banks that collapsed didn’t even have the minimum capital requirement, and in Ghana, you need GH¢400 million to open a bank. So that means Assibey is a bank plus GH¢100 million”.

The question is the money what did they use it for? Do you think Assibey and Gifty alone spent such huge sums? I will plead with them; they shouldn’t die alone or take the blame alone. They should mention names we are pleading with them so we can reduce some of these things for them,” he added.

He further added, “When we were going through hardship in the country, some people turned into motivational speakers, stealing our money”.

Solomon Owusu’s comments come after Osei Assibey Antwi, the immediate past Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), has been charged with  14 counts.

His charges included causing financial loss to the Republic, stealing, and money laundering, in a case involving more than GH¢500 million.

According to the charge sheet, Osei Assibey Antwi is accused of authorising payments to over 60,000 non-existent national service personnel and misappropriating public funds.

The former NSS boss is facing multiple counts under sections “179A(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 1(2)(c) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044)”.

“Rein in Sam George, not to hastily dispose of AT” –  Minority tells Mahama

0

The Minority in Parliament has demanded that President John Mahama intervene and halt the ongoing Telecel takeover of AT.

According to the minority, John Mahama must rein in his Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, not to hastily dispose of AT Ghana.

Addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday, October 15, the minority caucus stated, “We ask President John Dramani Mahama to rein in his Minister for Communication to focus on making AT work rather than hastily trying to dispose of it. A comprehensive and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the proposed acquisition of AT by Telecel is imperative.”

They added, “It’s troubling that Hon. Samuel George, who was once an outspoken critic of his predecessor for how state assets were handled, is now presiding over a worse process that appears to be taking place without scrutiny”.

“Telecel just last week collaborated with the Ministry of Health to support the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, through which they donated cervical cancer screening equipment to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital,” the group revealed. “Similar donation ceremonies are scheduled to take place in Tamale and at the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital.”

The minority caucus emphasised. “Any deal shrouded in secrecy, executed without parliamentary scrutiny, or in violation of procurement and regulatory standards will be subject to review and possible legal action.

Telecel should be prepared for reputational damage and potential nullification of any agreement entered under such circumstances.”

“This is not merely about the sale of a company; it is about protecting a national institution that has served Ghana diligently,” they said. “AT must remain in Ghanaian hands and continue to serve as a cornerstone for our digital and economic future.”

“We will not sit idly by and allow a single minister to unilaterally dispose of a critical national asset such as AT. The strategic importance of this company to our digital sovereignty and economic development cannot be overstated.”

Also, the minority accused Sam George of rejecting a US$150 million investment bid.

According to the minority, Sam George rejected the US$150 million bid from Rektron/Afritel in favour of what they describe as a “less transparent and questionable” merger deal.

Member of Parliament’s Communications Committee, Matthew Nyindam, argued that Sam George’s handling of the transaction was marked by secrecy, inconsistencies, and conflict of interest.

He warned the deal could lead to the collapse of Ghana’s only solely state-owned telecommunications company.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, October 15, he stated, “The minister’s management of this transaction lacks transparency and proper direction. It is riddled with inconsistencies and self-interest, and risks handing over a critical national asset to a private foreign company without accountability”.

“Rektron’s proposal went beyond the initial US$150 million capital injection, outlining a long-term investment plan of up to US$1 billion to expand AT’s network, modernise infrastructure, and strengthen 4G and 5G capacity over a five-year period”.

He quizzed, “How does one reject a US$150 million investment proposal with a billion-dollar expansion plan for a deal that brings only US$50 million to the table?”.

The minority added, “We have established that the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation failed to honour a US$5 million payment commitment to the American Tower Company (ATC), a key service provider to AT”.

“Because of the minister’s failure to pay ATC, several tower sites were shut down in September, forcing AT customers to roam on Telecel’s network. This led to an estimated GH¢7 million loss in revenue to AT within that month alone,” he alleged.

The group added, “After announcing a deal with Rektron/Afritel and appointing KPMG as transaction advisors, the minister suddenly shifted to a merger plan with Telecel without any consultation or clear justification.”

“Why announce a merger publicly only to pull it down later? The secrecy and confusion surrounding this deal raise legitimate concerns about what the minister is hiding”.

AT is a strategic national asset that must be safeguarded. We cannot allow a deal that jeopardises 300 employees, 200 contract staff, and over 10,000 indirect jobs,” Mr Nyindam said.

The Minority is demanding:

“An immediate halt to the current restructuring or consolidation process; A comprehensive parliamentary inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the transaction; Full disclosure of all related agreements, correspondence, and reports;  Release of transactional advice, including recommendations from AFROTEX/Rektron on the “highest and best use” of AT Ghana; A thorough financial assessment of AT Ghana to determine its debt levels and resolve the impasse that led to service disruptions”.

Nyindam insisted, “Any decision regarding the future of AT must be subject to full parliamentary scrutiny”.

Meanwhile, Sam George, at a press conference on September 5, the Minister rejected reports describing the situation as a merger or acquisition.

He stated, “This is not a merger, it is also not an acquisition. We are dealing with a force majeure situation, and the recommendations from the transaction advisor will lay out a clear path for government consideration.”

“Prof Opoku-Agyemang only focused on her job as Vice President” – Spokesperson

0

Ama Pratt, the Spokesperson, to Professor Opoku-Agyemang has said her boss is only focused on her job as Vice President.

According to Ama Pratt, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is not thinking about succeeding President John Mahama but only his job as a vice president.

Ama Pratt is quoted by GHOne to have stated, “Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is only focused on her job as Vice President, not the position of president”.

Her comment comes following the Education Minister  Haruna Iddrisu telling the Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, that it is his prayer that God gives her a long life and health to one day become Ghana’s first female President.

According to Haruna Iddrisu, Prof Jane Naana’s elevation to the second-highest office of the land is a milestone for women in leadership.

Haruna Iddrisu stated, “It is my pride and honour to welcome you back to the Ministry of Education, this time in an elevated capacity as the first female Vice President of our Republic.

It is my prayer that God will give you long life and good health…that probably you will be elevated to become the first female President. May Allah grant you the strength”, he added.

Also, President John Dramani Mahama, speaking at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, China, on Monday, October 13, John Mahama stated confidently stated, Ghana will soon have its first female President.

According to John Mahama, he is confident that women will break the glass ceiling for Ghana to have its first female president.

John Mahama stated, “In my capacity as the African Union champion for gender and women’s empowerment, the government of Ghana has continued to take decisive steps to mainstream gender across our national development policies.

We’ve achieved historic milestones, including the election of Ghana’s first female vice president and the unprecedented appointment of women to leadership positions in government, the judiciary, the security services, and key national institutions.

“These are not just symbolic gestures. They are affirmations that women deserve a seat at the table of the highest levels of decision-making. And I am confident that in the very near future, our women will break the glass ceiling and [there] will be a woman president of the Republic of Ghana,” he said.

Meanwhile, a latest poll by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, is still in the lead as the preferred candidate to succeed President John Mahama for the NDC.

The Global InfoAnalytics poll shows Haruna Iddrisu in a lead with 29.8 per cent, while NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia secured 24.1%, and Finance Minister Ato Forson, who garnered 18.4% support.

“Investigators must be professional” – Lawyer backs AG decision to discontinue Ahmed Suale case

0

Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Legal and Communication Team, has backed the Attorney General’s decision to discontinue the Ahmed Suale murder case.

According to Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, investigators must be professional in their work and not go to court with shoddy jobs.

He commended the Attorney General for taking a bold decision to discontinue the case when the evidence brought could not convict.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, October 15, Lawyer Adawudu stated, “For me, this should be an eye-opener. This is something we should look at and go back to the drawing board and look at it and give a specimen. We should be professionals. We must improve the way we do investigations. This case should speak to the conscience of the investigators and authorities. I want the investigators to speak the truth.”

“I think some of the people at the top make things difficult for the younger ones. And some of the investigators, too, the system doesn’t have money for them to travel and do all these investigations. And they do armchair investigations.

He added, “I think that if the system is being researched, and we’re being bold for authorities to speak the truth. Let us be bold to speak truth to authority. We need to come to the logical conclusion of the killing of Ahmed Suale so that it never happens again”

“I commend the Attorney General for being bold. Reasons why it will also be discontinued, as he has given, which is that the evidence that has been brought cannot convict. That means you will go to court and do a shoddy job. If they find facts which connect him [suspect], he can be brought back,” he said.

His comment came after the  AG discontinued prosecution in the murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

The Madina District Court has discharged the accused following a directive from the Attorney General’s Office.

According to reports, the prosecution, led by Nana Afua Bamfoa Bamfo, informed the court on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, that “They had been directed by the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to discontinue the case”.

The Madina District Court, presided over by Susan Nyarkotey, subsequently discharged Daniel Owusu Koranteng and disposed of the case.

It will be recalled, in 2019, Ahmed Suale, a key member of the Tiger Eye P.I. investigative team, was shot and killed in January by unknown assailants.

His murder ignited a national and international outrage, with demands for justice from press freedom advocates and human rights organisations.

Owusu Koranteng was later arrested following joint investigations by the FBI and Ghanaian law enforcement authorities.

The suspect was charged with abetment of crime and murder in connection with the death of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale; he, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecution, the suspect led two other alleged culprits currently at large to the home of Ahmed-Hussein Suale, where he was eventually shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Ahmed Suale was a member of the Tiger Eye PI investigative team led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

In court, the A-G’s legal opinion, grounded in a meticulous analysis of the police docket.

They concluded that the claimed call records used to implicate Mr Koranteng were inconclusive and failed to establish any direct or circumstantial link between him and the commission of the offence.

They further added that none of the sketches generated by the police based on vivid descriptions of the eyewitnesses resemble the accused Mr Koranteng.

The Attorney-General then advised that the prosecution redirect its investigative efforts toward identifying and apprehending the principal perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Meanwhile, the two unidentified gunmen who executed the fatal attack remain at large six years after the incident.

His discharge reaffirms the underlying legal principle that an accused person is recognised as innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

“Innocent until proven guilty, but this is disgusting” – Afia Pokuaa lambast Gifty Oware-Mensah

0

Afia Pokuaa, a Ghanaian media personality, has fired the former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, after she was accused of theft and willfully causing financial loss to the state.

The Ghanaian journalist commonly known as Vim Lady emphasised that Gifty Oware-Mensah is innocent until proven guilty, but the national service scandal is disgusting.

According to Afia Pokua, the charges against Gifty Oware-Mensah are not small charges, and NPP communicators will find it difficult to justify them.

Speaking on her show, shared on Instagram, Afia Pokuaa stated, “The national service scandal is disgusting. The charge against her is stealing, and that is not a small charge. Even the NPP gurus can not justify it. She should go and answer for herself in court. It just doesn’t make sense, and I don’t know any evidence she would use to justify herself… This is messed up”

“For her name to be attached to such a case is bad, but nobody should justify this. As I earlier said, innocent until proven guilty, so she should go and prove herself in court.

“Most of the people NPP gave appointments are questionable. She even gave a scholarship to her husband; meanwhile, some poor people genuinely wanted the scholarship. Whether she is guilty or not, this is unquestionable and a complete conflict of interest”, she added.

Afia Pokua’s comment comes on the heels of Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is a Deputy Director-General of the National Service Authority, has been charged with stealing and willfully causing financial loss to the state.

Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai has revealed the High Court is yet to fix a date for former NSS boss, Gifty Oware-Mensah, to appear before the court.

Justice Srem-Sai made this known when he was spotted walking away from the High Court Complex.

New Twist – Daddy Lumba’s sister and Akosua Serwaa demand probe into his death

A sister of the deceased Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosu and his German-based wife Akosua Serwaa, are demanding an independent probe into his death.

According to the two women, they are demanding a probe into Daddy Lumba’s demise following the inconsistencies in narrations around his death.

In a statement dated Tuesday, October 13, 2025, read, “The family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh (Daddy Lumba), a 60-year-old German citizen of Ghanaian origin, is calling for an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death in Ghana on 26 July 2025”.

They recounted three different narrations on the death of Lumba, one from an eyewitness, a police coroner report, and the account of Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni.

The statement added, “An eyewitness reported that on the night of the incident, the late Mr Fosuh called a friend to come to his residence. Upon arrival, the friend was prevented from seeing him by a woman living with Mr Fosuh. After waiting for nearly two hours, he left. On his way home, he received a call informing him that Mr Fosuh had died at home,” the statement said.

Another account stated, “A report from the Ghana Police Service to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra stated that Mr Fosuh, a known diabetic, complained of pain in his legs and waist on 24 July 2025 and was taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan. Due to agitation and fear, he was placed under anaesthesia. After the scan, he developed severe pain and was transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he died on 26 July 2025”.

They also recounted the account given by Odo Broni, “Ms. Priscilla O. initially informed the family during the first family meeting that Mr. Fosuh had been taken to the Bank Hospital, where he received an injection that caused him severe pain before he passed away.

However, the following day, when Kwasi, a cousin of the late Mr. Fosuh, approached her with the same question, she gave a different account – stating that Mr. Fosuh had actually died at home, and that she had cleaned and dressed the body before calling a friend, identified as Serwaa A., to assist her in taking him to the hospital.

Since then, Ms. Priscilla O. has declined to provide any further information, and her statements remain inconsistent and contradictory,” the statement said.

Based on the three accounts, which Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosu described as contradictory

The statement further added, “These contradictory versions have left the family deeply concerned and distressed, raising serious questions about the true cause of death and whether proper medical and investigative procedures were followed.

Akosua Serwah Fosuh (widow) and Ms Ernestina Fosuh (sister of the deceased) have formally contacted the following authorities seeking assistance:

The German Embassy in Accra, Ghana,  The Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) in Wiesbaden, Germany, and The German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin.

“The family is also calling on the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to question Ms Priscilla O. and Mr Philip Kwabena A. (also known as Roman Fada) to assist in uncovering the truth about the death of their loved one, Mr Charles Kwadwo Fosuh,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, seeking a court injunction to halt the funeral, demanding recognition as the sole legal widow and the right to perform traditional rites.

Daddy Lumba’s children distance themselves from Akosua Serwaa’s lawsuit

The children of Daddy Lumba with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh have distanced themselves from their mother’s lawsuit concerning their late father’s funeral and burial arrangements.

Minority rejects acquisition of AT by Telecel, accuses Sam George of underhanded dealings

0

The Minority in Parliament has rejected the proposed Telecel takeover of AT, formerly AirtelTigo.

The minority have accused the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, of rejecting a US$150 million investment bid.

“* An immediate halt to the current restructuring or consolidation process;

* A comprehensive parliamentary inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the transaction;

* Full disclosure of all related agreements, correspondence, and reports;

* Release of transactional advice, including recommendations from AFROTEX/Rektron on the “highest and best use” of AT Ghana;

* A thorough financial assessment of AT Ghana to determine its debt levels and resolve the impasse that led to service disruptions”.

“Are you trying to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians?” – Solomon Owusu quizzes Police

0

Solomon Owusu, a member of the political group, Movement for Change, has quizzed the Ghana Police Service on whether they are trying to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians.

According to Solomon Owusu, the Ghana Police Service knows the identity of the perpetrators in the 2019 murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

Solomon Owusu challenged the police service’s claim of being unable to solve the Hussein-Suale murder.

He cited a past case where the police were able to locate the buried remains of murder victims Kwaku Ninja and Taller, despite the fundamental difficulties.

Speaking on TV3 New Day, Solomon Owusu stated, “The truth of the matter is that it has not been better. But you have to improve upon it. We need to cause our police institution to be professional. They know the killers. And I still insist they know them.

If they were able to identify a corpse, a dead body [Kwaku Ninja and Taller] that was buried beneath the earth without their knowledge, then they have no business telling me that they do not know the killers of Ahmed Suale”, Owusu argued.

He noted, “Especially when we are told by our witness that even the guy who shot, he had to do a goodbye kiss to the dead body… That the guy is so happy that he has been able to kill a human being.

It means there could be a vivid description of the culprit. So, how did they get it wrong by going to arrest a wrong culprit when you have the image of the person that has been described? Are you trying to throw dust into the eyes of the people?”, he quizzed.

Solomon Owusu further demanded greater transparency, “So, they have to come again. I’m not too sure this ends the case. They must rather go back to what is right. The police administration must speak the truth. Tell us who was behind it”.

“Any murder that happens in this country it must not affect big fish in society. But any ordinary person or people that you consider as nonentities, they must be of interest… so that everyone can be working in this country with confidence, not fearing anything that happens. Because nobody is above the law”, he added.

Also, Kwesi Botchwey Jnr, an aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said the investigators involved in the murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale must be sanctioned.

Mr Botchwey Jnr contended that the investigators responsible must be punished for their poor investigation and wasting judicial resources, dragging the case out for 6 years.

Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Channel One TV on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Mr Botchwey said, “It is a waste of judicial resources because prosecutors would have to go to court, file documents, disclosures, go through the process for 6 years, and today we are told the investigators did not do their jobs properly.

I think that for the first time, the investigators have to be sanctioned. It can’t be business as usual to serve as a deterrent to other investigators who also cook up ‘evidence’ to prosecutors,” he added.

Their comment came after the  AG discontinued prosecution in the murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

“Former NSA boss and his deputy should defend themselves in court” – NPP’s Ellen Daaku

0

Ellen Ama Daaku, a communications officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has told the former National Service Authority (NSA) officials, Gifty Oware-Mensah and Osei Assibey Antwi, to go to court and defend themselves.

According to Ellen Daaku, if Gifty Oware-Mensah and Osei Assibey Antwi are guilty, prison is waiting for them.

Speaking on GH One on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, she said, “… When you read the charge sheets, it definitely doesn’t look too good. So, I’m very happy that they have the opportunity to defend themselves. The moneys are huge. We are talking about almost GH¢700 million. They have to defend themselves.”

“I don’t think it’s much ado about nothing to be slapped with such cases as a Ghanaian, and it’s a dent on your image. So, you have the opportunity and in fact you have the mandate to go to court and defend yourself. These rumors have been going around for quite a while about the former administrators of the National Service; so for me, I just think that it’s right that they’ve been given the opportunity to go and defend themselves. Knowing the two of them, like I do know them, they will defend themselves,” she said.

She added, “If truly they have taken our money, as for the jail it’s there for us all but if they have not, I think we should also give them a very fair trial and let them defend themselves”.

Also, Ghanaian media personality, Afia Pokuaa, has warned New Patriotic Party Communicators not to justify the former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, GH¢38.4 million National Service Authority (NSA) scandal.

According to Afia Pokua, the charges against Gifty Oware-Mensah are not small charges, and NPP communicators will find it difficult to justify them.

She emphasised that Gifty Oware must go to court and answer for herself, and not the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), should defend the charges filed against her.

Their comment comes on the heels of Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is a Deputy Director-General of the National Service Authority, has been charged with stealing and willfully causing financial loss to the state.

The Attorney-General’s Department alleged Gifty Oware-Mensah misappropriated a total of GH¢38,458,248.87 between February 2022 and March 2024, overseeing finance, audit, and procurement at the NSA.

The said money was under the pretext of supplying goods on a hire-purchase basis; however, investigation revealed no such goods were supplied, and the names used to secure the loan were ghost names from the NSA’s internal system.

Also, Osei Assibey Antwi, the immediate past Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), has been charged with  14 counts.

His charges included causing financial loss to the Republic, stealing, and money laundering, in a case involving more than GH¢500 million.

According to the charge sheet, Osei Assibey Antwi is accused of authorising payments to over 60,000 non-existent national service personnel and misappropriating public funds.

“I remain loyal to Dr Bawumia” – Adwoa Safo denies switching allegiance to Ken’s camp

0

Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, has denied reports suggesting that she has switched camp from Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to that of Kennedy Agyapong.

According to Adwoa Safo, he remains loyal to Dr Bawumia and believes he remains the best person to lead the NPP into the 2028 election.

The former gender minister reaffirmed her belief in Dr Bawumia’s competence and innovation.

She also described his tenure as Vice President as sterling and proof of the kind of leadership Ghana needs for the future.

In a press disclaimer issued on Tuesday, Adwoa Safo stated the rumours circulating are entirely false, baseless, and without merit.

Part of her disclaimer stated, “I continue to hold Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in high esteem for his visionary leadership, humility, and dedication to the progress of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the nation”.

“Any attempt to misrepresent my position should be disregarded with the contempt it deserves,” she asserted.

In related news, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has revealed that the former member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, did not vote for him to become Speaker of Parliament.

It will be recalled that accusations were levelled against Adwoa Safo as the NPP MPs suspected to have voting for the then opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) nominee Alban Bagbin instead of the NPP’s Mike Ocquaye Snr. as the Speaker in 2020.

According to Speaker Bagin, Adwoa Safo is his daughter, but did not vote for him as she has been accused by many, adding that he knows all those who voted for him in the famous election in parliament.

Alban Bagbin made this revelation when Adwoa Safo, the former Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament, led a delegation of her family to formally notify the Speaker of Parliament about the passing of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

Speaking during the meeting, Alban Bagbin stated, “ Adwoa Safo is my daughter. I knew her even before she joined me in parliament. But she did not vote for me to become speaker, I know those who voted for me”.

Meanwhile, Sarah Adwoa Safo once said Ghana will turn upside down if I reveal the number of NPP MPs who voted against Speaker Mike Oquaye.

According to Adwoa Safo, she and the then majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, told President Akufo-Addo that Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye would lose the Speakership election if he was nominated.

Speaking on the issue, Adwoa Safo stated, “I voted for Professor Mike Oquaye because I wouldn’t have gone there if I was not going to vote. I know everyone who voted against Professor Mike Oquaye, and this country will turn upside down if I decide to mention names”.

“We went to tell President Akufo-Addo that the MPs are giving a signal that they don’t want Professor Mike Oquaye, and something needed to be done about it. But he still insisted that he wanted Professor Mike Oquaye as Speaker and that we should whip everybody in line.”

She added, “I voted for Professor Mike Oquaye because I wouldn’t have gone there if I was not going to vote. I know everyone who voted against Professor Mike Oquaye, and this country will turn upside down if I decide to mention names.”

“When we went to the House, those who had threatened to vote against him didn’t change their minds. Those who voted against Professor Mike Oquaye were not only two but were many, and that is why Hon Carlos Ahenkorah went to snatch the ballot box in order to save the NPP from a shameful defeat.”

“If we had counted the votes, it would have been more shameful for the NPP, so nobody should blame me. We couldn’t count the votes because of the chaos, and then leadership decided to give it to Bagbin in order not to create any vacuum, so why would anybody blame me for Professor Mike Oquaye’s defeat?”

“Observers are watching” – Kwesi Pratt on Mahama, Haruna’s comments on a female president

0

Kwesi Pratt Jr, the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, has weighed in on comments made by President John Mahama and Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu regarding Ghana having a first female president.

It will be recalled that Haruna Iddrisu told the Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, that it is his prayer that God gives her a long life and health to one day become Ghana’s first female President.

Reacting to the development, the veteran Journalist took to his social media page on X, noting that something interesting is happening in the Presidency.

According to him, observers are watching with very keen eyes and listening with anxious ears.

Kwesi Pratt wrote, “First, it was Honourable Haruna Iddrisu(@iharunaiddrisu), Minister of Education, who said directly that he sees a future President of Ghana in Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang(@NJOAgyemang), the sitting Vice President.

#Haruna, who has been mentioned in what many believe to be a scientific poll by Global Info Analytics (@GlobalInfoPolls) as the frontrunner in the race to replace @JDMahama as President, has repeated this prediction.

President John Dramani Mahama has also on two occasions said that he is “confident that in the very near future, there will be a woman President of #Ghana”.

Kwesi Pratt further added a quote from President Mahama at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Beijing, China to establish his point.

He concluded saying, “Well, something is definitely happening at least at the Presidency and in the Government machine, and we can see and feel it”.

“My son is a gold merchant; his dealings are legal” – NDC Chairman to critics

0

Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Abuakwa South Constituency, has refuted claims linking his son to illegal mining (galamsey).

According to Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed, his son is a gold merchant and his dealings are legal.

The NDC Chairman clarified that, contrary to public speculation, the MCE made no such allegation against his son during his appearance before the Local Government and Rural Development Committee.

He boldly stated that accusations levelled by some individuals against his son’s mining business are false.

Speaking in an interview shared on X, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed stated, “The MCE’s task force visited my son’s mining site during their operation, and while there, they pointed out something they were not doing right.

Two days later, he appeared before parliament, where he was questioned about his relationship with me and his friendly demeanour while inspecting my son’s mining site”

He added, “He responded that if he was at the mining site of his constituency chairman to inspect his son’s work, then that should inform the committee how serious he is about the work. So I don’t know why people are twisting the whole thing up,” he said.

Whatever he is doing his legal. He is even a gold merchant, and as a father, I am a politically exposed person. So if he does anything bad, I will equally be affected, so there is no way I would watch him do something bad.

Let me tell you that he didn’t start this business today. He has been doing it under various political regimes… They should thoroughly check and ensure that he has all the documents. But you don’t go about speculating rumours without evidence”, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed stated.

In related news, Professor Kwesi Aning, a Security consultant, has claimed Italian mafia network is using Ghana’s illegal mining (galamsey) to clean their dirty money.

According to Professor Kwesi Aning, his research findings cite that the Italian mafia network is ceasing advantage of galamsey to launder money.

Speaking on JoyNewsFile on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Professor Kwesi Aning stated, “There are two studies, several studies, in fact. One shows that a group from Italy, the Italian mafia, brings in enough dirty money to buy gold. This is free consultancy for the national security and the financial intelligence agency; one Italian mafia group brings in dirty money to buy gold, takes it, sells it elsewhere, cleans the money, and takes it back to Europe.

That is number one,” he stated while answering a question on whether the security issues arising from illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, could lead to the terrorisation of Ghanaians or militia activities in the country”.

He added, “Number two, we know, and it is proven beyond doubt, that with the exception of Mali, Ghana is the second-largest gold-producing country, where the leakages are massive.

Now, I think Elikem might be able to tell us, but initial calculations show that about 2 to 2.5 billion dollars worth of illicit small-scale gold oozes out of the system every year.

This leads to organised criminal groups having an interest in ensuring that whatever NIAMOS is achieving right now will be resisted, and I can tell you that there is going to be resistance,” he added.
