Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has busted ten suspects for allegedly creating fake online food delivery platforms.

On 1st October 2025, the police operation led to the arrest of three male and three female suspects.

Six suspects named Wonder Sakpiti, Sedinam Amaglo, Godsway Dunyo, Angela Agblemekpe, Mathew Aheto, and Fafali Amoah were arrested.

The police’s preliminary investigations showed the suspect created fake social media accounts and a website to impersonate Papaye, Pizzaman, KFC, and Mawarko.

Victims on the fake platforms are directed to make payment via mobile money, after which they never receive their food.

The police further revealed that the suspects sometimes gain unauthorised access to victims’ mobile money wallets and bank accounts, claiming to help them and dupe them of their funds.

On October 12, 2025, a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the main leader and three others in Haatso in Accra.

The suspect has been identified as Elijah Sotama Etse, alias Pop Smoke (the syndicate leader), Elliot Sotama Atsu, Jethro Atsu, and Obed Selasi Agboli.

According to the police, twelve mobile phones were retrieved, and other Digital devices used in the fraudulent activities were retrieved and are undergoing forensic examination.

Meanwhile, all ten suspects are in police custody and will be processed in court on Monday, 13th October 2025.

In related news, the Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly plotting to assassinate a chief at Akyem Kwabeng in the Eastern Region.

The two suspects have been identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth.

They were apprehended in an intelligence-led operation after police uncovered a plan to eliminate the chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar slated for October 17, 2025.

According to the Police, Emelia Akua Asor allegedly offered GHC 50,000 to undercover officers to carry out the killing of the chief and another woman said to be in line for installation as Queen Mother.

Emelia Akua Asor also instructed her accomplice, Butuakwa Seth, to help identify the victims’ residences.

Seth reportedly led the officers to the homes of the intended victims and provided a photograph of the chief to aid the plot.

The suspects allegedly promised an additional GHC 50,000 upon completion of the crime.

Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting investigations and will be arraigned before the court.

The Eastern South Police Regional command wrote, “The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly plotting to assassinate a Chief in the Eastern Region.

The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were arrested following an intelligence-led operation. Their arrests followed the uncovering of a plan to eliminate the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar scheduled for 17th October 2025 at Akyem Kwabeng”.

The statement further detailed, “Acting on intelligence received on 11th October 2025, a police intelligence team infiltrated the suspects’ network. During the operation, suspect Emelia Akua Asor offered GHC 50,000.00 to undercover officers to kill the Chief and another woman, alleged to be lined up for installation as Queen Mother. She further instructed suspect Butuakwa Seth to assist in identifying the residences of the intended victims.

Suspect Butuakwa Seth led the officers to the homes of the Chief and the woman and provided a photograph of the Chief to facilitate the planned act. The suspects also promised an additional GHC 50,000.00 upon completion of the crime”.

Cabinet gives green light for the payment of 13,500 unpaid nurses, midwives – Health Minister

Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced that the cabinet has given the green light for the payment of 13,500 unpaid nurses, midwives.

The Health Minister further announced that the government will start paying all nurses and midwives owed salary arrears from November.

According to him, the Cabinet has approved that the finance minister immediately pay 13,500 nurses and midwives starting from November.

Speaking to the media in Accra on Monday, October 13, Mr Akandoh detailed, “As I speak to you now, about 6,500, that will add up to the 7,000 already being paid, making 13,500; that’s a lot, that’s over 6,000. The Cabinet has approved that with immediate effect. Starting from November, the Minister for Finance must pay them. And I have in my hand the letter to that effect”

“And so these were the difficulties. I empathise with anybody who has had to go through this painful situation. And it is important for Ghanaians to be taken care of,” he added.

He further revealed that he has secured financial clearance for the payment of some 17,909 nurses, midwives, and allied health interns who started their national service in early 2024.

Mr Akandoh detailed, “Financial clearance secured for payment of the 17,909 nurses, midwives, and allied health interns who started their national service in early 2024. Financial clearance secured for 13,500 recruited and posted late last year [2024], with their financial clearance expiring by 31st December 2024”.

“The Ministry is putting in place measures as part of a broader agenda to strengthen Ghana’s health system and ensure the welfare of its workforce,” he stated.

This news comes after the  Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives on Thursday, October 2, 2025, staged a protest to demand their salary arrears owed by the government.

According to the nurses and midwives, about 7,000 of them have been working without salaries for the past nine to 10 months.

Speaking to the media, the unpaid nurse stated, “May God punish any government and its entire generation that leaves nurses’ salaries unpaid and causes nurses to resort to prostitution for money”.

Another protesting nurse also warned the John Mahama-NDC government that a hungry nurse is a potential killer.

According to the nurse, the government must pay them now, as enough is enough.

He emphasised that to be a nurse in Ghana is not a crime and that Ghanaian nurses deserve better.

The nurse speaking to the media during the protest demanded, “A hungry nurse is a potential killer. Pay us now, we are dying. A hungry nurse is a potential killer. Pay us now, enough is enough. Is it a crime to be a nurse in Ghana? Nurses deserve better. Enough is enough”.

Additionally, a teary nurse has broken down as she recounted how she has not been paid for the past 10 months despite the hard work and stress of her job at the Korle Bu hospital.

The nurse revealed that her situation has become dire, with her rent due and no means to pay.

Speaking in a viral video, the teary nurse stated, “We are just pleading with the government to pay us, we have been working for ten good months without salaries. Personally, my rent expired in August, and I have not been able to pay. My landlord is always asking When are you going to pay?

I have been asking for time. I stay at Pentang and I work in Korle Bu, I take transportation for 42 cedis to work every day. How do they expect me to get that money to come to work?”

She further added, “I am doing my work at the Hospital, just for the minister to tell me he appreciates what I am doing, what kind of appreciation, which form of appreciation. How can somebody work for ten good months, and you tell the person you appreciate them?

I cannot stand it, I am owing rent, what should I do to be able to pay my rent, they should pay us enough, it’s enough. You cannot even ask somebody for money the moment you text the person, they think you are coming to beg”.

Her experience reflects the plight of several newly recruited nurses and midwives, who today staged a protest against the government over 10 months of unpaid salaries.

Unpaid junior doctors to be migrated to the payroll – Health Minister announces

0

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced that unpaid junior doctors will be migrated to the public payroll.

He made this announcement, revealing that the government had secured clearance and commenced the migration of hundreds of unpaid junior doctors.

According to the Health Minister,  the Junior doctors started their work without clearance.

Speaking to the media in Accra on Monday, October 13, Mr Akandoh stated, “You recently heard some junior doctors threatening to go on strike. They had started work without clearance, without salaries, without pay”.

“Again, we collaborated with the Ministry of Finance, and as I speak to you now, we have succeeded in getting them clearance, and they are being migrated onto the payroll”, he added.

The news comes following the Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) announcement that they have halted plans for a withdrawal of services.

Their moves follow a renewed engagement with the Ministry of Health and key stakeholders.

On October 2, 2025, in a statement signed by its President, Dr Louisa Afia Nkrumah, and General Secretary, Dr Rhoda Wun-nam Amadu, revealed that the unpaid salaries are affecting more than 200 junior doctors.

Also, delaying the posting of 800 medical officers.

Part of the Junior Doctors’ Association read, “Despite goodwill shown towards the government, no solutions have been offered. The continued exploitation of junior doctors will no longer be tolerated”.

The statement announced that all outpatient services will be withdrawn from October 7 to 9, and on Friday, October 10, emergency services will also be withdrawn until further notice.

The Junior Doctors’ Association further blamed the Ministry of Health and the Government of Ghana for any disruption of healthcare services that their action will cause and called for swift action.

However, in a press release dated Monday, October 6, the Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) announced a halt to the nationwide withdrawal of services.

The statement signed by President, Dr Louisa Afia Nkrumah, and General Secretary, Dr Rhoda Wun-nam Amadu, alluded that their decision is a “gesture of goodwill and in the interest of uninterrupted healthcare delivery.”

“The suspension allows the government the opportunity to implement its commitments,” the statement read. “The association will closely monitor progress on these matters. Should there be delays or failure to honour the agreed timelines, the JDA-GH will have no option but to reinstate industrial action without notice.”

In related news, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Health Minister, has urged the Ghana Health Service to temper justice with mercy in addressing a query issued to staff nurse Bernice Aboagye over alleged unprofessional comments.

Bernice Aboagye received a queired letter from Dr Samuel Freeman Mensah, Medical Superintendent at the Ghana Health Service, on October 10, 2025.

The GHS in its query to the nurse demanded that she respond by October 24, 2025 explain her actions.

“Use of unacceptable and inappropriate words resulting in a rude behaviour towards the Honourable Minister for Health, contrary to Section 8.1(c) of the code of conduct and disciplinary procedures.

Use of abusive language on the Honourable Minister of Health is contrary to Section 8, 1 (1) of the Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures.

Tarnishing the corporate image of the Service and bringing the name of the service into disrepute, contrary to Section 4.1 (d) of the Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures”.

The statement further urged, “all health workers to express their opinions responsibly and respectfully, without resorting to insults, as this contributes to the healthy growth and development of the health sector.

The Ministry wishes to emphasise that it has no objection to demonstrations, as they are legitimate expressions of frustration and a constitutional right of every citizen. However, the Ministry will not condone the use of abusive language or acts of indiscipline during such demonstrations.”

“Any day you want to lie, lie intelligently” – Prophet ElBernard slams Ofosu Nkansah

0

The Senior Pastor of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun, has slammed Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the former National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) boss.

According to Prophet ElBernard, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has been spreading lies regarding one of his prophecies.

He cited Kofi Ofosu Nkansah’s post he shared on social media, claiming he had prophesied that the team of Kwasi Kwarteng, the spokesperson of Kennedy Agyapong, would win the next presidential election.

Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, October 12, 2025, Prophet ElBernard stated, “Before we continue the service, I want to talk to the former Chief Executive of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme. He was in the Akufo-Addo Administration, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah.

“He put my picture and that of Kennedy Agyapong on his page, and he lied that I have prophesied that Kwasi Kwarteng will win the last election… Honourable, if you want to lie, lie intelligently,” he said.

He further added, “Any day you want to lie, lie intelligently, because someone like me, I won’t mind them. But someone like you, I would mind you.

“I prophesy. Not everyone must believe what I say. If you lie and I think I have your time, I’ll respond,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, Renowned Ghanaian Prophet Telvin Sowah has said the former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong can never become president of Ghana.

According to the Prophet, Kennedy Agyapong will not win the NPP’s presidential primary on January 31.

He highlighted that after the presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyapong’s camp will be claiming victory, but at 11, they will know they have lost.

Speaking on Accra FM in a video shared on TikTok, Prophet Telvin Sowah detailed, They will start the election before the counting starts, less than 10 minutes, and they will declare they have won it, Kennedy Agyapong people. Everybody will be like Kennedy Agyapong has won by 11, the votes are coming in, and then he is far gone.

It will not be a loss; it will be very humiliating, the people will take the first step, the praises will start too early, so when it shuts down, there will be nothing”.

He further prophesies that the NPP in 2028 will garner 44 per cent of votes, with the NDC winning by 53 per cent.

“NPP presidential results 2028, 44 per cent is already sealed, and even the 44 per cent they got NDC is for 53 per cent. The 44 per cent they got is because of Cheddar”, he added.

Prophet Telvin Sowah further added that Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force will one day become Ghana’s president.

“Nana Kwame Bediako will become the president of Ghana; it is merged in time, Kennedy Agyapong will team up with Alan Kyeremanten to shake the NPP for 2032 and in that condition, they will still lose the elections”.

Even if Kennedy Agyapong wins the flagbearer elections, he will still not get up to 36 per cent of the total vote. There is no possibility of a time when Ken became a running mate and they went for the election; it does not exist in time. But in the original space of the timeline, there is no possibility that Kennedy Agyapong will win the election; it is done and dusted. He will not win the flagbearership election, so he will not be able to contest for the election”, the man of God highlighted

“How is Ken Ofori-Atta still roaming the streets of America?” – OSP quizzed

0

Abraham Koomson, the Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), has quizzed the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on how the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is still roaming the streets of America despite being declared wanted.

According to Abraham Koomson, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) must sit up as it is baffling and disappointing that Ofori-Atta, who has been declared a fugitive, continues to move freely in the United States.

Mr Koomson warned the OSP that selective or inconsistent enforcement would erode public trust in Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions.

Speaking on Ahotor FM on Abraham Koomson stated, “If someone is truly declared wanted, will he have the freedom to roam the streets of America? The OSP has said this man is wanted. Even though he is not guilty yet, he must return and testify. I will call on the OSP to sit up”.

“The OSP must show seriousness and fairness in its work. Ghanaians are watching, and confidence in our justice system depends on equal treatment for everyone,” he added.

His comments come after Ken Ofori-Atta was spotted on the streets of the United States walking with his wife, Professor Angela Ofori-Atta.

Ken Ofori-Atta was on the left, wearing a black suit jacket, white shirt, black trousers, and carrying a light-coloured backpack, with his wife wearing a dark outfit.

According to reports, the photo of Ofori-Atta and his wife was taken in the United States.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), Termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC) for the Distribution and Ambulance Procurement: A Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

Kissi Agyebeng, in a press conference, stated, “On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect, in respect to four of the cases described above. Mr Ofori-Atta was directed to attend in person at OSP on Monday, 10th February 2025, at 10GMT for an interview”.

By communication dated 31 January 2025, Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds and that the firm would notify the OSP of his arrival in the country in need of rescheduling his personal attendance at the OSP.

Further, the firm offered its willingness to provide the OSP with any information the OSP may require,” he noted.

“The fugitive’s name is Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta. Mr Ofori-Atta is 66 years old. He was the minister of Finance of the republic between 2017 and 2024. Mr Ofori-Atta left the jurisdiction on or around 2 January 2025. On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect in respect to four of the cases above. Mr Ofori-Atta was asked to attend in person on Monday, 10th February 2025, at 10GMT for an interview…Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds…”

On June 13, 2025, Mayo Clinic in the United States revealed Ken Ofori-Atta has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is expected to undergo surgery on June 13, 2025.

The wife, Prof. Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, in the statement dated June 16, 2025, explained that Mr Ofori-Atta successfully underwent the surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” she added.

“Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she said.

She further gave a possible timeline by which her husband would be able to honour the invitation by the Special Prosecutor to appear before his outfit in person.

According to Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, after a successful surgery on June 13, Mr Ofori-Atta would require about 3 months to recover fully.

Mr Ofori-Atta failed to appear before the OSP for an investigative interview scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

The OSP later issued a notice placing Ken Ofori-Atta on the INTERPOL Red Alert Notice database, but despite the notice, the former finance minister is still at large.

Video – Adom Kyei-Duah distributes GHS51m to church members

Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, the founder and General Overseer of the Believers Worship Centre, popularly known as Philadelphia Church, has distributed GHS51 million (over $4.1 million) to about 20,000 church members.

In a viral video shared on X, the GHS51 million was displayed on a table in the church, being distributed to Church members.

The Church members were later captured dancing and waving the money they received as they expressed excitement and gratitude to Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah.

Some netizens have reacted to the video saying, “This is why the pastors hate him, o cos they will never do the same. He doesn’t take tithe, no seed, no pastor’s appreciation. He just sells prayer materials and uses the proceeds to build his church and God’s work. He doesn’t put a burden on his members to build a church for him”.

“One of the few churches I would never have any problem with members sowing huge sums of money, coz in the end it’s the same members that benefit from it. He dey try for the members waa”, another Ghanaian wrote.

An X user also wrote, “Any serious country, this man should be invited to EOCO tomorrow morning to prove proof of funds along with tax documents but hey, who cares in Ghana right?”.

Additionally, a netizen wrote, “When pastors take collection, he’s a thief. When they shared money with church members, he’s a fake, and people are asking EOCO to conduct an investigation into the source of the money.

Ah, well, that money is too much to be displayed in front of the camera, which needs to be questioned since it is against the Ghanaian constitution”.

In related news, Godsbrain Smart Nkansah, popularly known as Captain Smart, has quizzed Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei Duah, the founder of Believers Worship Centre, on why he will be selling Yesu Mogya in church.

Captain Smart noted that Adom Kyei Duah is exploiting his congregation for profit by selling ‘Yesu Mogya’ in church.

He highlighted that the man of God is doing business in his church and must be taxed by the government.

Captain Smart further recounted how a woman who was suffering from high blood pressure abandoned her prescribed medication to rely on ‘Yesu Mogya’ for miraculous healing.

According to Captain Smart, if he were president, such acts would not be tolerated.

He argued that religious leaders who profit from their congregations under the guise of spirituality should be held accountable.

Speaking on his show Onua Maakye, Captain Smart stated, “Physically, Adom Kyei-Duah is older than me, but spiritually, he knows I’m older. How can you be selling Yesu Mogya in church? There’s a woman I knew who was a BP patient. Instead of her taking her medicine, she was taking Yesu Mogya.

“If I were president of Ghana, this nonsense wouldn’t be allowed. Nobody would be able to sell oil in church. If a pastor sold ‘Yesu Mogya’ during services, I would treat it like a business and make them pay tax,” Captain Smart stated.

Professor Kwesi Aning, a Security consultant, has claimed Italian mafia network is using Ghana’s illegal mining (galamsey) to clean their dirty money.

According to Professor Kwesi Aning, his research findings cite that the Italian mafia network is ceasing advantage of galamsey to launder money.

Speaking on JoyNewsFile on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Professor Kwesi Aning stated, “There are two studies, several studies, in fact. One shows that a group from Italy, the Italian mafia, brings in enough dirty money to buy gold. This is free consultancy for the national security and the financial intelligence agency; one Italian mafia group brings in dirty money to buy gold, takes it, sells it elsewhere, cleans the money, and takes it back to Europe.

That is number one,” he stated while answering a question on whether the security issues arising from illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, could lead to the terrorisation of Ghanaians or militia activities in the country”.

He added, “Number two, we know, and it is proven beyond doubt, that with the exception of Mali, Ghana is the second-largest gold-producing country, where the leakages are massive.

Now, I think Elikem might be able to tell us, but initial calculations show that about 2 to 2.5 billion dollars worth of illicit small-scale gold oozes out of the system every year.

This leads to organised criminal groups having an interest in ensuring that whatever NIAMOS is achieving right now will be resisted, and I can tell you that there is going to be resistance,” he added.

Meanwhile, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has rounded up several illegal gold miners (galamseyers) at the Cape Three Points forest reserve.

According to reports, NAIMOS stormed the Cape Three Points forest reserve and arrested several galamseyers and also destroyed mining equipment and drugs.

The galamseyers’ makeshift structures were also burnt.

This follows NAIMOS’ operation on illegal miners (galamsey) in the Western North and Western Regions.

NAIMOS arrested two Chinese nationals and intercepted several Burkinabè workers in separate anti-galamsey operations.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communication, who shared the information on X, stated, “NAIMOS Busts Chinese Nationals  Involved in Galamsey.

On Wednesday, 8th October, 2025, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force arrested two Chinese nationals engaging in illegal mining activities in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve in the Jomoro area of the Western North Region”.

He further added that some Items were seized and others destroyed,

– A Toyota Land Cruiser V8 with registration number GR 442-14.

– Four excavators

– Two heavy water pumping machines.

– 12 makeshift structures were destroyed”.

In related news, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, staged yet another operation along the Ankobra River.

The Ankobra River in the Nzema East Municipality is located in the Western Region.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communication following Equipment was Seized/Destroyed:

– 1 Excavator

– 100 Makeshift structures set ablaze

– 7 Chanfangs destroyed

– 88 Water Pumping Machines seized

– 3 Gas cylinders seized

– 3 Shovels seized

– 4 Plastic Chairs seized

– 2 Water Hoses seized

– 1 DSTV dish seized

– 1 Gen set seized

– 1 Pick Axe seized

Additionally, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) had earlier stormed a notorious galamsey hideout named ‘Gangway’ at Aboso in the Western Region.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communication, the operation was carried out on Monday, October 5, 2025.

In a post on X, he wrote, “The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has carried out a significant operation in the Western Region, targeting notorious galamsey hideouts.

On Monday, October 5, 2025, the Task Force stormed “Gangway,” a crime-infested community in Aboso, Prestea-Huni Valley District.

-Makeshift Structures Destroyed*: Several makeshift structures serving as hideouts and drug bases were set ablaze, and galamsey equipment was destroyed.

-Hundreds Surrender: Several hundred locals, mostly galamseyers, surrendered to the Task Force. These individuals were involved in various social vices, including illegal mining, trading, and narcotics smoking, as well as gambling.

-Drugs Seized- Eleven parcels of Indian Hemp were seized, alongside other hard drugs.

– Previous Warnings Ignored: This operation follows a similar one in June 2025, where NAIMOS warned criminal gangs and galamseyers to vacate the area. Despite this, the warnings were ignored.

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly plotting to assassinate a chief at Akyem Kwabeng in the Eastern Region.

The police statement added that both suspects are in custody, assisting investigations.

The Eastern South Regional Police Command also assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, especially traditional leaders in the region.

In related news, the  Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for the suspect who assaulted one of their Officer at Garu in the Upper East Region.

According to reports, the Police officer was assaulted on 6th October 2025 when the officer and Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) were conducting stop-and-search operations along the Garu–Nakpanduri road.

The Police intercepted a tricycle loaded with sacks of groundnuts with some passengers sitting on top.

The Ghana Police statement read, “The Upper East Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into an incident in which a police officer was assaulted by a commercial tricycle rider at Garu in the Upper East Region.

“Temper justice with mercy” – Health Minister begs for amnesty for nurse who called him ‘Drama King’

0

Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Health Minister, has urged the Ghana Health Service to temper justice with mercy in addressing a query issued to staff nurse Bernice Aboagye over alleged unprofessional comments.

However, in a statement signed by Tony Goodman, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, detailed that the Minister has requested that the nurse be pardoned.

In the statement, Tony Goodman wrote, “The Ministry of Health has taken notice of a query letter issued to MS. Bernice Aboagye, a Staff Nurse, which has been circulating on social media regarding certain unprofessional comments allegedly made against the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

The Minister commends the Ghana Health Service for promptly upholding the tenets of professionalism and the Code of Conduct prescribed for health workers

However, Hon. Akandoh has appealed to the Service to temper justice with mercy in addressing the matter. According to him, both he and the government welcome divergent views and constructive criticism as part of his commitment to fostering tolerance and openness to diverse opinions”.

It will be recalled that Bernice Aboagye, during the nurses’ demonstration over their unpaid salaries, tagged Ghana’s Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh a drama king.

According to the irate nurse, the Health Minister came to them, faking tears to deceive them.

She highlighted that Mintah Akandoh must collaborate with Kumawood stars Lilwin and Agya Koo to produce a masterpiece for Ghanaians.

Speaking after the Health Minister addressed the unpaid nurses, she stated, “The unpaid nurse stated, “You can see that the minister was doing drama in school. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh is a drama king, he can act in a movie if we collaborate with him and Lilwin and Agya Koo, he will give us a very masterpiece that will blow.

Did you see what he did here? Look at his antics as if he were crying and sad; he is just deceiving us; he is a politician”.

She added, “If for 10 months they have not paid, you won’t go home. When I did my NSS, I was never paid. Now that they have posted me for 10 months, I have not been paid”.

“I don’t understand why Gabby would say that” – Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on flyovers brouhaha

0

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the former Majority Leader of Parliament, has hit back at Gabby Otchere-Darko following the claim that NPP Members of Parliament in the Ashanti Region preferred community roads to flyovers.

The former majority leader lamented that he does not understand why Gabby would say that.

According to him, on numerous occasions, he has spoken about the Suame Interchange, adding that the MPs started talking about these interchanges during President Kufuor’s time.

Speaking in a recent interview on UTV, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu quizzed, “He said he has been in meetings where the statement he made was said. What I want him to tell us is the meeting he is referring to. Where did the said meeting happen?”

He added, “On numerous occasions, I have spoken about the Suame Interchange, which is part of an inner city circle, which starts from Anloga Junction… We were going to build an interchange there during President Kufuor’s era. From there, if you take your left, it takes you to the Airport Roundabout, where there is another interchange… So on numerous occasions we have spoken about interchanges, and Parliament has even approved loans to get them done”

“So, I don’t understand why Gabby would go and stand somewhere to say that we said we don’t want interchanges. We started talking about these interchanges during President Kufuor’s time. When Dr Anane was the Roads Minister, we went to launch them at KTI. Where was Gabby at that time, for him to come and say we said we don’t want interchanges?”, he quizzed.

Also, Eugene Boakye Antwi, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, has said there was a serious fight between Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko and the party’s 2024 vice-presidential candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).

According to Eugene Boakye Antwi, the fight was on an NPP platform regarding comments made by Gabby Otchere Darko about NPP MPs in the Ashanti Region, claiming they wanted “communal roads and not flyovers.

Speaking on Nhyira FM, Eugene Boakye Antwi stated, “Look, where we have gotten to, they have to shut up. Here they have taken the party to; they should leave it for us to fix. They should keep quiet. They are annoying people with the kind of things they are saying”.

He added, “Yesterday, there was a serious fight between him and NAPO on the platform. It looks as if we don’t know what we are doing”.

Eugene Boakye Antwi, further alleged that former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta told them in a caucus meeting in parliament that elections are not won win roads.

He further added, “When it gets to a point, NPP members want to put themselves in trouble. If you say this, and someone else goes to explain. You people have been bringing up the issues. I was an MP. What he is saying, I know he is not being truthful.

If you want the truth, the NPP members listened to me when we had a caucus meeting in parliament, when Ken Ofori-Atta came, he looked into our faces, the MPs and told us that we don’t use roads to win elections”.

He added, “You can call any MP who was in the room. We went to a caucus meeting, all the MPs in Ghana met in the parliament house. He told us we don’t use roads to win elections.

They should let sleeping dogs sleep. When some of us hear these things when you speak and you are not being truthful, we will come and explain it”.

Eugene Boakye Antwi’s comments come following New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, following his recent comment regarding some NPP Ashanti Region MPs.

“Asiedu Nketia will be president of Ghana in 2028” – Prophet

0

Prophet Telvin Sowah, a Ghanaian man of God, has boldly prophesied that the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, will become Ghana’s president in 2028.

According to Prophet Telvin Sowah, Asiedu Nketia will become Ghana’s president in 2028 and will serve for two terms.

He emphasised that the New Patriotic Party in 2028 will garner 44.78 per cent in the election, with the NDC winning by 53 per cent.

Speaking in an interview on Accra FM, shared on TikTok, Prophet Telvin Sowah stated, “NPP results 2028, 44.78 per cent, NDC presidential results are 53 per cent. Asiedu Nketia will be the president of Ghana in 2028, and he will serve for 8 years”.

Prophet Telvin Sowah further added that Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force will one day become Ghana’s president, adding that Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Kyeremanten will also team up.

He added, “Nana Kwame Bediako will become the president of Ghana; it is merged in time, Kennedy Agyapong will team up with Alan Kyeremanten to shake the NPP for 2032 and in that condition, they will still lose the elections”.

Meanwhile, the Global InfoAnalytics’ new poll has revealed that Johnson Asiedu Nketia of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds a slim lead over Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in a potential 2028 presidential matchup.

The poll shows Asiedu Nketia commands 50 per cent of voter support, while Dr Bawumia follows closely with 45 per cent, with the 5 per cent of respondents preferring another candidate.

According to Global InfoAnalytics, the narrow margins highlight the prospect of a fiercely contested race if the matchup materialises.

However, the Global InfoAnalytics poll for who succeeds President Mahama shows that Haruna Iddrisu is in the lead with 29.8 per cent, while NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia secured 24.1%, and Finance Minister Ato Forson, who garnered 18.4% support.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah is also in fourth with 10.3%, while Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa came fifth with 8.1%.

Other contenders Eric Opoku recorded 2.5%, Prof. Joshua Alabi 2.2%, and Armah Kofi-Buah 2.0%.

Kwame Awuah Darko (1.6%), Spio Garbrah (1.1%), and Okoe Vanderpuye (0.1%)  were at the bottom of the poll as the least preferred candidates to succeed John Mahama.

Meanwhile, Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, has said Johnson Asiedu Nketiah does not usually look the part for the presidency.

According to Martin Kpebu, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah can rise to become the president of Ghana, but his challenge will be public perception and optics.

He noted that Asiedu Nketiah’s main hurdle would be how Ghanaians perceive him visually and stylistically as a presidential candidate.

Speaking on a panel discussion on Joy FM on September 21, 2025, Kpebu stated, “Let’s be blunt. When it comes to optics, generally speaking, Asiedu Nketiah doesn’t usually look the part for presidency. That’s just the truth”.

He, however, argued that Ghanaian voters may eventually move beyond optics.

Lawyer Kpebu added, “People said Akufo-Addo had the swag, but where did we end up? Corruption worsened, freedoms were suppressed, and the economy tanked. So maybe a time will come when we look beyond optics and focus on substance”.

He noted that if Asiedu Nketia win the primaries, the whole NDC machinery will be behind him.

“If he wins the primaries, he can make it because that means the whole party machinery and even John Mahama himself will rally behind him. With a first-past-the-post system and 50% plus one, he can scrape through”, Kpebu explained.

“Mahama will never be invited to the UN again” – Ugandan boy

0

A young Ugandan boy has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his impactful speech at the recent UN General Assembly meeting.

The young boy boldly emphasised that he thinks President Mahama will no longer be invited to the UN again because of his speech.

Speaking in a viral short video, the Ugandan boy stated, “President John Mahama of Ghana, in his previous speech at the UN conference, said Africa must exercise its sovereignty over its natural resources, and everybody should underline the words sovereignty. We should all stand behind President John Mahama, I think he will never be invited to the UN conference again”.

He added, “Even the Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana is happy for you”.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, September 25, 2025, addressed world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Mahama, in his address, highlighted numerous issues.

Delivering Ghana’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, President Mahama stated

“Mr Secretary-General, Excellencies,

Ladies and Gentlemen:

At this 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, I would like to speak about Africa’s role in the future of the organisation. However, it is impossible to do that without first considering the collective role that Africa played in its founding, which was small and relatively insignificant.

Of the 51 Member States involved in the founding of the United Nations in 1945, only four were African: Egypt, Ethiopia, Liberia, and South Africa.

It is important to point out that the United Nations came into being in the aftermath of World War 2 because of the inability of its precursor, the League of Nations, to avert a large-scale global conflict, which had been its guiding purpose when it was founded in 1920 on the heels of World War 1.

Out of the 42 founding member states of the League of Nations, only three were African: Liberia, the Union of South Africa, and Ethiopia. Egypt joined later in 1937. Africa’s overall participation in the organisation’s founding was minimal and relatively unimportant.

That’s because, before all the other talks and meetings, representatives from a group of 14 nations gathered in Berlin for a series of discussions that began in 1884, which led to the partition and formal colonisation of the continent—also called the Scramble for Africa.

It has famously been written that “past is prologue.” Well, in the past, the majority of the 54 nations that now comprise Africa were never offered a seat at the table where plans for a new World Order were being drawn.

But, Madam President,

As fate would have it, the tables have turned, and Africa’s role in the authorship of whatever is yet to come for this world will be huge, and it will be consequential.

According to this organisation’s own projections, by the year 2050, more than 25% of the world’s population is expected to come from the African continent. Additionally, by 2050, one- third of all young people, aged 15 to 24, will be residing on the African continent.

So, you see, the future is African.

Allow me to say this once again, a little louder for the people in the back. The future is African!

Already today, Africa is a catalyst for human potential and development, as well as for economic reform and ecological stability. Africa is a catalyst for systemic change. If this reality—which is fact-based and straightforward—seems provocative or unsettling, perhaps it’s because you’re viewing it through the lens of centuries of racism, colonialism, imperialism, and the resulting implicit bias.

Maybe you’re unaware of the resilience of African nations or their remarkable ability to make a strong comeback, just when you think it’s safe to discount them.

That’s what is happening right now in Ghana. Our Constitution limits leaders to two four-year terms. In January, I was sworn in for a second term, which, I should add, is non-consecutive with the first. Our currency, the Ghana cedi, was rapidly depreciating.

Faced with rising inflation, a huge debt burden, and low morale amongst our citizens, my new administration quickly embarked on an ambitious programme of comprehensive transformation designed to restructure Ghana’s economic foundation and enhance our competitive standing globally. We refer to this process of recalibration as our reset agenda.

In just eight months, we have achieved a significant reduction in inflation, from 23.8% in December 2024 to 11.5% in August 2025, restoring price stability for our citizens. Additionally, the Ghana cedi has appreciated considerably against other currencies, with Bloomberg reporting it as the best-performing currency in the world at one point.

Our improved sovereign credit rating reflects increasing investor confidence. Our 24-Hour Economy Initiative promises to transform our economy. There is a renewed willingness among the people to trust that their elected officials have Ghana’s interests at heart and that we are progressing together.

Madam President,

I believe that, in honour of this milestone celebration, the United Nations should also embark on a process of serious recalibration and establish its own reset agenda. Since the organisation’s founding, the number of UN Member Nations has nearly quadrupled. And, quite frankly, it is not the same world that it was back then.

I mentioned earlier that I began my second non-consecutive term as president this past January. My first term ended in January 2017. In that span of time, the world had changed with such ferocity, my first days in office felt as though I’d just awakened from a Rip Van Winkle-style slumber. That was after only eight years; imagine, then, what it would be like after eighty years.

In 1945, the sun had not yet set on the largest empire in history; the most common mode of international travel was by sea; the personal computer had not been invented, let alone made portable; and television, a new convenience, was still in its infancy, albeit in black and white.

Relations between the US and the Soviet Union were turning frosty, with Winston Churchill declaring that “an iron curtain has descended across the Continent.”

Eighty years on, in today’s world, 100,000 commercial flights take off and land every day; libraries have been digitised so that volumes of literature can exist on a device small enough to fit inside your pocket. This is a world of cryptocurrency, Artificial Intelligence, social media, the Internet, and its dark, hidden dungeon —the dark web—all of which carry a potential threat to global peace and security.

Climate change is real, and we are fighting a losing battle against the loss of the Maldives and other island nations to the rising sea level, Timbuktu to desertification, and the Amazon Rainforest to global warming and deforestation.

Madam President,

The UN founding charter is outdated when it comes to representation. The most powerful post- World War 2 nations are still being rewarded with an almost totalitarian guardianship over the rest of the world. And yet, the first sentence in Chapter 2, Article 1 of the UN charter declares that “The Organisation is based on the principle of the sovereign equality of all its members.”

If this were truly the case, a continent as large as Africa with its numerous UN Member states would have at least one permanent seat on the Security Council. Furthermore, veto power should not be restricted to five nations, nor should it be absolute.

There must be a mechanism for the General Assembly to challenge a veto. No single nation should be able to exercise an absolute veto to serve its own interests in a conflict.

In 1995, during the 50th anniversary of the United Nations, Nelson Mandela stood in this very spot. He said, “The United Nations has to reassess its role, redefine its profile, and reshape its structures. It should truly reflect the diversity of our universe and ensure equity among the nations in the exercise of power within the system of international relations. In general, and the Security Council in particular.”

Thirty years later, we African leaders are still making the same request: for a permanent seat on the Security Council, with the power of veto. So, today, Madam President, I stand here in this exact spot, asking: if not now, then when?

We demand not only a reform of the Security Council, but also a reset of the global financial architecture, which is currently rigged against Africa. Africa must have a greater say in the world’s multilateral financial institutions.

While I am making requests, I would like to call for the removal of the blockade on Cuba. As Dr Kwame Nkrumah, our nation’s founder, famously said, “We seek to be friends of all and enemies to none.” The Cuban people shed their blood on African soil in the fight against apartheid. Indeed, Cuba has been, and continues to be, a faithful friend to Africa.

You see, the very fact that I can stand here and ask these things, and the fact that all nations can ostensibly gather here to address critical global issues, air grievances, and express concerns—that is what makes the survival of this organisation so important.

In every old city or village, you will find a town square, a courtyard, or a plaza that once served as a gathering place for the citizens and their leaders. Meetings and celebrations were held there, as were trials and elections. They were spaces that brought people together and held them as a community. Sadly, time and technology have eroded those spaces.

Madam President,

In many ways, the United Nations is the proverbial town square of our modern global village. And it has never been more critical for us to protect this one space that brings and holds the world’s nations together as a community.

The Internet, social media platforms, and Artificial Intelligence offer us the illusion of connectivity, when in fact they reinforce isolation by using algorithms that ensure we do not receive new ideas and perspectives, but rather more of the same. We are served alternative facts and manipulated images, making it easier to disseminate disinformation and sow seeds of division.

These are dangerous times. Our world is currently experiencing a rise in nationalism and economic instability. There is a general breakdown of multilateralism; various acts of aggression have been committed against the sovereignty of others, and nations are attempting to circumvent the very safeguards put in place to prevent large-scale global conflict.

These conditions are all too similar to the ones that led to the League of Nations’ failure in fulfilling its mandate. The denial of visas to President Abbas and the Palestinian delegation sets a bad precedent and should be deeply worrying to all member nations.

Ghana recognised the state of Palestine in 1988 and supported a two-state solution to the conflict.

Contrary to the claims of some, a two-state solution would not be a reward for Hamas but, rather, a reprieve for the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who have been facing collective punishment and forced starvation for no reason other than the fact that they are Palestinian.

For nearly two years, and for the fear of reprisal, we here in this General Assembly have been playing hide-and-seek with language to find the right words to help us avoid or excuse what we all know is taking place there.

But here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter what you call it: if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, well then… It must be a duck. The crimes in Gaza must stop.

Madam President,

I want to draw particular attention to the conflict in Sudan, which this body has described as the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Twelve million people have had to flee their homes.

When we speak of migration, we refer to the 12 million new refugees, whom we, as a global community, should be willing to assist in much the same way that many member nations readily assisted new refugees from Ukraine.

Let’s dispense with euphemisms and dog-whistles and speak frankly. It’s not a mystery that when leaders of Western nations complain of their migration problems, they are often referring to immigrants from the Global South.

Many of those migrants are climate refugees. Interestingly, the Global North emits 75% more greenhouse gases than the Global South. However, the effects of climate change are more severe in the Global South because we lack the resources to address them effectively.

So, when the desert encroaches and our villages and towns become unlivable, we are forced to flee.

Warsan Shire, a Somali-British poet born in Kenya to Somalian refugee parents, was London’s first Youth Poet Laureate. She writes in her poem titled “Home”.

You have to understand that no one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land No one burns their palms

under trains beneath carriages

No one spends days and nights in the stomach of a truck feeding on newspaper unless the miles travelled mean something more than a journey.

Madam President,

We cannot normalise cruelty. We cannot normalise hatred.

We cannot normalise xenophobia and racism.

If we are going to tell a story, let’s not tell it slant. Let’s tell all the truth.

When we speak of migrants, we speak of Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong, a judge on the US District Court for the Central District of California. She is the first Black female judge on any of California’s four federal district courts. She was born in America to immigrant parents from Ghana.

We speak of Peter Bossman, a medical doctor born in Ghana who moved to the town of Piran in Slovenia in the 1980s. He later became the first Black mayor of Piran, the first Black mayor in Slovenia, and in the whole of Eastern Europe.

We speak of T-Michael, the iconic Ghanaian-Norwegian artist and designer, and the late Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, who was born in Ghana but spent his adulthood in various places in America and Europe.

These are people who have brought great distinction to the countries that they call home. Just as the migrants and the children of migrants before them did. These are not invaders or criminals.

Madam President,

The slave trade must be recognised as the greatest crime against humanity. As African Champion on reparations, Ghana intends to introduce a motion in this August body to that effect.

More than twelve and a half million Africans were forcibly taken against their will and transported to create wealth for the powerful Western nations.

We must demand reparations for the enslavement of our people and the colonisation of our land that resulted in the theft of natural resources, as well as the looting of artefacts and other items of cultural heritage that have yet to be returned in total. We recognise the value of our land and the value of our lives.

As did our coloniser, as well as the governments that happily paid reparations to former slave owners as compensation for the loss of their “property”—that “property” for which compensation was paid referred to enslaved people who had been freed.

Madam President,

An increasingly insecure world is witnessing upward spending on defence budgets of bilateral partners and steep cuts in Official Development Assistance. Since July 2024, there has been a 40% drop in humanitarian aid to Africa.

In this era of global uncertainty, Africa must exercise sovereignty over its natural resources to raise the necessary funds to ensure the well-being of its citizens.

The days of parceling out vast concession areas to foreign interests for exploitation must come to an end. We will continue to welcome foreign investment, but we must negotiate better for a bigger share of the natural resources that belong to us.

We are tired of the continued image of poverty-stricken, disease-ridden rural communities, living at the periphery of huge foreign-controlled natural resource concession areas. We are tired of having people extract the most they can from us and, in return, offer us the very least by way of respect, consideration, and dignity.

We are tired of not being represented in ways that reveal the richness and complexity of our history or acknowledge all that we have overcome to arrive here, in this liminal space of untold possibilities.

Allow me to echo the Indian-American writer, Arundhati Roy, who wrote: “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”

I want to add that for the sake of Africa, and quite selfishly, for the sake of my 18-year-old daughter, I hope this new world that is arriving is a place of safety and equality for women and girls. To succeed, we must empower everyone, including women and girls, to reach their full potential.

In closing, Madam President,

I would like to congratulate you on your election to preside over this historic 80th General Assembly, and on being the fifth woman to hold this distinction.

I would also like to congratulate Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on being the first woman Vice President of Ghana. Now every Ghanaian girl knows the heights to which she can ascend.

Words matter, but issues of representation matter even more, which is why Ghana looks forward to the appointment of a woman as Secretary General of this organisation in the future.

Madame President, Your Excellencies,

Thank you for your kind attention”.

Nana Kwame Bediako will become the president of Ghana – Prophet Telvin Sowah

0

Renowned Ghanaian Prophet Telvin Sowah has said the leader of New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, will be the president of Ghana.

Prophet Telvin Sowah, speaking on Ghana’s political future, made this revelation but did not disclose any timeline for his prophecy.

He confidently stated that Nana Kwame Bediako will one day become Ghana’s president.

Speaking on Accra FM in a video shared on TikTok, Prophet Telvin Sowah detailed, “Nana Kwame Bediako will become the president of Ghana; it is merged in time, Kennedy Agyapong will team up with Alan Kyeremanten to shake the NPP for 2032 and in that condition, they will still lose the elections”.

The prophet further touched on the NPP presidential primaries schedule for January 31.

According to him, Kennedy Agyapong can never become the president of Ghana.

He highlighted that after the presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyapong’s camp will be claiming victory, but at 11, they will know they have lost.

Prophet Telvin Sowah detailed, “They will start the election before the counting starts, less than 10 minutes, and they will declare they have won it, Kennedy Agyapong people.

The man of God added, “Even if Kennedy Agyapong wins the flagbearer elections, he will still not get up to 36 per cent of the total vote. There is no possibility of a time when Ken became a running mate and they went for the election; it does not exist in time. But in the original space of the timeline, there is no possibility that Kennedy Agyapong will win the election; it is done and dusted. He will not win the flagbearership election, so he will not be able to contest for the election”.

According to Prophet Telvin Sowah, the current NDC National Chairman, Asiedu Nketia, will become Ghana’s president in 2028 and will serve for two terms.

“NPP results 2028, 44.78 per cent, NDC presidential results are 53 per cent. Asiedu Nketia will be the president of Ghana in 2028, and he will serve for 8 years”, he boldly added.

Meanwhile, Nana Kwame Bediako in the 2024 elections was able to secure 88,984 votes, representing 0.76% as an independent candidate.

He finished third, with President John Mahama winning with 6,591,790 votes representing 56.41 per cent, with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia finishing second with 4,877,611 votes representing 41.75 per cent.

Additionally, the Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that 50 per cent of Ghanaians who initially planned to vote for Nana Kwame Bediako rescinded their decision.

In a social media post on X, they wrote, “Only 50% of voters who had planned to vote for Nana Kwame Bediako ended up voting for him on the election day, according to a new poll”.

Ken Agyapong will not be a flagbearer, and can never be president – Prophet

Renowned Ghanaian Prophet Telvin Sowah has said the former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong can never become president of Ghana.

Meanwhile, another man of God, Bishop Sam Owusu, has said that Kennedy Agyapong will win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary polls scheduled for January 31, 2026 and lead the party as its flagbearer in the 2028 general elections.

According to Bishop Sam Owusu, Kennedy Agyapong will secure about 57.7% to win the NPP’s flagbearer.

The man of God revealed that President Mahama has been ordained to lay a solid foundation, but Kennedy Agyapong is the chosen one to build on and lead an industrial revolution in the country.

In a viral video, Bishop Sam Owusu stated, “Hear me, church, hear me and pray for him so that the mercies of God and the hand of God will continue to bring him to that place.

During the COVID time, I saw the man, Kennedy Agyapong, leading their party, and last month I mentioned it. And today, the Lord said I should mention it again. Church, hear me and pray for him.”

“I saw over 1 million young men that God has used him to lead, following him,” he added.

The man of God emphatically prophesied that Kennedy Agyapong will secure about “57.7%” of the votes to emerge the winner.

“I kept on prophesying about Kennedy Agyapong. It’s because I saw over 1 million young men that God has used him to lead them, and all of them are doing business,” he stressed.

“Nurses, doctors, and teachers are now involved in galamsey” – Angel Carbonu

0

Angel Carbonu, the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), has alleged that some professionals, including teachers, nurses, and doctors, are involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

According to Angel Carbonu, the situation is a reflection of Ghana’s worsening moral and economic crisis.

He claimed the struggle for survival forced many people, even professionals, into galamsey.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Carbonu lamented, “Ghana still remains a poor and challenged country. We’ve destroyed everything, even water, which is fundamental to life. Sadly, some nurses, doctors, and teachers are now involved in galamsey”.

“People now take loans of ₵20,000 or ₵30,000 just to invest in galamsey. It’s no longer the preserve of the unemployed; professionals are complicit,” he said.

He added, “Even some children encourage their parents to sell their homes and join galamsey. It shows how deeply this greed has taken root”.

“No government can fully control Ghanaians when our desire for quick wealth keeps growing. We need a moral and mental reset, not just policy enforcement,” he concluded.

Additionally, NAIMOS stormed a notorious galamsey hideout named ‘Gangway’ at Aboso in the Western Region.

Akosua Serwah abandoned Daddy Lumba when he was seriously ill – Lawyer

The Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have revealed that the first wife of the late Daddy Lumba abandoned the late legendary musician when he was seriously ill.

According to the lawyers, Akosua Serwah refused to relocate to Ghana some 15 years with Daddy Lumba for medical treatment.

The Lawyers further revealed that Akosua Serwah wrote to Daddy Lumba of her intentions to initiate a divorce.

The Legal team representing the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta in their response to a complaint of Akusoa Serwaa wrote, “Our instructions are that your client, Akusua Serwah Fosuh of Germany, refused to relocate with her then husband, Daddy Lumba, to Ghana for medical help when the latter was seriously ill some 15 years ago and therefore deserted him in his difficult time of need”,

“Your client, on 4th February, 20 18 wrote to the late Daddy Lumba expressing her intentions to initiate divorce proceedings against him, raising many unfounded allegations which the late Daddy Lumba denied. In a letter dated 27th February, 2018, the then Lawyers for the late Daddy Lumba responded to the letter and called the bluff of your client to proceed with her threats to initiate divorce proceedings since he had moved on with his life after her desertion”.

The lawyers further detailed that Akosua Serwah presented Lumba’s drinks to his family, signifying the dissolution of their marriage.

“By the traditions of the Akans generally and the Fosu Royal family in particular, which we have no doubt you are familiar with, the presentation of drinks by a wife to the family of the husband when accepted effectively dissolves the marriage between the two”.

The lawyers further revealed that the Fosu family only recognises Odo Broni as the wife of Daddy Lumba and not Akosua Serwah.

“Our client informs us that Priscilla Ofori (a.k.a. Odo Broni) is married to the late Daddy Lumba and was the woman who lived with him through thick and thin and was blessed with six (6) children for over fifteen (15) years they lived together till his final day on earth. Suffice it to say that, when your client deserted the late Daddy Lumba. Odo Broni was there for him. It is therefore our clear instructions to state that Odo Broni is a recognised wife of the late Daddy Lumba, and the same is recognised by the Fosu Royal family”, the response added.

The statement further added, “In respect of the properties of the late Daddy Lumba, we wish to state that all his properties form part of his estate, which the family, together with the children of the late Daddy Lumba and their mothers, shall work together to ensure fair distribution to all who are entitled to benefit.

Until then, let all persons stay away from the properties till it is properly and legally dealt with. We therefore advise your client to work and comply with the decisions of the Fosu Royal family to ensure a peaceful and befitting funeral for their late royal”.

They added that to avoid any unproductive litigation among the family and the children, the Fosu family is open to all for peaceful discussions.

Meanwhile, Akosua Serwaa Fosu has filed an interlocutory injunction to halt the ongoing funeral preparations for her husband.

According to court documents, her legal team is contesting the legitimacy of the arrangements, arguing that they were made without her knowledge, consent, or involvement.

“PRAYING this Honourable Court for an Order restraining the Defendants, their agents, assigns, workmen, etc., from either collecting the body of the late CHARLES KWADWO FOSU a.k.a. DADDY LUMBA from the morgue and performing the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased, upon the grounds set out in the accompanying Affidavit,” the writ stated.

“NPP’s presidential primaries results will shock people” – Prophet Roja drops prophecy

0

Prophet Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, has dropped a prophecy ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries on January 31.

According to Prophet Roja, the NPP’s presidential primaries results will be different from the arrangements on the ballot paper positions.

He highlighted that the results will shock Ghanaians, as there is going to be a silent victory for one of the candidates.

Speaking in a viral video following the party’s balloting for the presidential primaries, Prophet Roja stated, “There would be rearrangements, definitely there would be rearrangements. Whether we like it or not, the results would be different from the arrangements on the ballot paper positions – the number two position would certainly change, you can record what I’m saying, save it somewhere”.

“It is going to shock people; it will be a silent win. There will be issues. The person leading has already won, but before the announcement, things will change. I have said this before, and I’m just reiterating.

Prophet Roja further noted that the NPP’s presidential primaries will be a tough one.

“The race is going to be very hot, and one person will be in pole position to win, but results from a few places will change everything”.

He added, “It is only four regions that would turn the election, and they are the Greater Accra Region, the Central Region, the Ashanti Region and the Eastern Region”.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central MP, has picked the number one spot in the  New Patriotic Party (NPP) ballot position ahead of the presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister of Agriculture, picked the second position, with former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia picking the third slot.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former education minister and former General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong, picked the fourth and fifth positions.

The balloting was held at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The balloting was conducted by the party’s National Elections Committee (NEC).

The NPP will hold its presidential primary on January 31, 2026.

Furthermore, Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has said Kennedy Agyapong and other contenders face a daunting task to catch up with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Mussa Dankwa, it is still not over, but it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate.

He highlighted that Dr Bawumia’s advantage will be difficult to overturn.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Monday, September 29, Mussa Dankwa stated, “It is still not over. I won’t say it is over, but if you look at where the leading candidate is, it is highly unlikely that every undecided voter will go to one candidate”.

“We believe that Kennedy has to do a lot more to bring Dr Bawumia down, or his other competitors should do a lot more in order to drag Dr Bawumia from where he is,” he added.

Mussa Dankwa’s remarks come following a latest poll by the Global Info Analytics, which reveals Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has taken a commanding lead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

The poll results published on social media platforms by the Global Info Analytics revealed that Dr Bawumia secured 47 per cent of delegate support and is the clear front-runner ahead of the NPP’s primaries.

Dr Bawumia continues to enjoy the confidence of nearly half of the delegates surveyed.

Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central legislator, emerged second with 17 per cent of delegates’ support.

Dr Bryan Acheampong secured only 3 per cent of delegates’ votes, while Dr Yaw Adutwum and Ing Kwabena Agyapong secured 1 per cent of delegates’ votes respectively.

“Hell would have broken loose if parliament was unable to resume under Akufo-Addo” – MP

0

The Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev Ntim Fordjour, has asserted that Parliament has been unable to resume sitting due to a lack of funds.

According to Ntim Fordjour, the John Mahama government has not allocated any resources for parliamentary activities to recommence.

Ntim Fordjour alleged that parliament has accumulated huge debts, but the NDC government has failed to release funds for its operation.

The lawmaker highlighted that hell would have broken loose if some of the things happening now had happened under former President Akufo-Addo.

He detailed that there are several outstanding arrears, noting that Parliament can only resume sitting on October 21, 2025.

According to him, any attempt to reconvene before the said date could lead to a serious crisis.

Speaking in a recent interview on Adom FM, Ntim Fordjour stated, “An initial statement was issued (that Parliament was resuming), but because there was no money, they had to postpone it indefinitely, about 3 days later. Hell would have broken loose if some of the things happening now had happened under President Akufo-Addo.

This is my third term in Parliament, but this is the first time I have seen that the House cannot have its sittings because there is no money. They have opened and closed the House on several occasions”.

He added, “We are just praying that the 21st October set for the resumption of the House’s sitting would happen”.

Ntim Fordjour further claimed that Ghana currently has no substantive Minister of Defence because Parliament is not sitting, noting that the appointment process requires the president to inform the Speaker of Parliament about the person he wants as the defence minister.

“No serious country would have their Minister for Defence position vacant for over a month. But you can’t appoint a Minister of Defence now. Why? Because Parliament is not in session”, the lawmaker added.

Meanwhile, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has announced that Parliament will commence its Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament.

According to a statement from the Office of the Speaker, parliament will commence sitting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Parliament House in Accra.

This announcement follows an earlier notice dated October 6, 2025, with Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin announcing a postponement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

According to Alban Bagbin, the postponements are circumstances beyond my control.

In a statement issued from the Office of the Speaker of Parliament in Accra stated, “Pursuant to the notice to summon Parliament dated September 29, 2025, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control”.

“Gabby and NAPO had a serious fight” – Former Subin MP blows alarm

0

Eugene Boakye Antwi, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, has said there was a serious fight between Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko and the party’s 2024 vice-presidential candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).

It will be recalled that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has said the former Akufo-Addo government did not snub the Ashanti region.

According to Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Members of Parliament in the Ashanti Region demanded that their community roads be fixed instead of providing them with flyovers.

He revealed he was shocked that an Ashanti region MP apologised to the people for neglecting them because the NPP government had not constructed flyovers.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, while addressing NPP party faithful, said, “I heard somebody saying in the Ashanti Region that we let Ashantis down because we didn’t fix their roads. NPP let Ashantis down because they didn’t have flyovers. But I had been in meetings where MPs from the Ashanti region had said that they did not need flyovers, but they want their community roads done, and in politics, you are supposed to give people what they say they want, not what you think they want.

They wanted their community roads, and when you look at the number of roads that were done in Ashanti per capita across the country, you can’t say NPP let Ashanti Region down. Yet an NPP person was apologising for disappointing the Ashantis for neglecting the Ashanti region”.

He continued, “Now if you want to win in 2028, and this is your attitude, that you have accepted that you did not do well. There is a difference between humility and knocking yourselves down. You can show humility. Maybe you expected more from us, and we are sorry that we couldn’t deliver all that you expected.

How is 2028 going to be your best chance? How can you go and convince Ghanaians that I’ve failed you, but bring me back to power? You must be bolder in defending what you did, you must be humble in accepting where you fell short, and you must have the confidence to say that in spite of this and that I can tell you that I have built more roads than any government that has spent the number of times that I have spent in office”.

“Young boys or girls without a job, go into agriculture” – Agric Minister

0

Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has said that young boys or girls without a job should go into agriculture.

According to Eric Opoku, Ghanaian youths must take inspiration from President John Mahama, who is the best onion farmer in Ghana.

The Agric Minister praised President Mahama for his contribution to Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Eric Opoku revealed that Mahama owns one of the largest onion farms in the country.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme, Eric Opoku stated, “President John Dramani Mahama, there is no one in Ghana who can farm more onions than him, and I am yet to see someone who can beat him on that record. I am saying it on authority”.

“He has the biggest onion farm, and it even became difficult to get labourers to work on the farm for harvesting, so we had to eventually go for machines.

He is also involved in animal rearing, cow farming, rice farming, and various types of farming. All his brothers and siblings are also into farming”, Opoku added.

The Agric Minister further urged Ghanaian youth to take inspiration from President Mahama and venture into agriculture as a viable source of employment.

“So, if you are a young boy or girl without a job, go into agriculture”, he advised.

In related news, Eric Opoku has revealed that the John Mahama government’s flagship project, the ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti‘, will cost Ghana approximately GHS 200 million.

He detailed that three million birds will be procured under the government  ‘nkoko nkitinkiti’.

According to the Agric Minister, each constituency will receive 10,000 birds.

Additionally, President John Dramani Mahama has shared details of the Nkokɔ nkitinkiti’ project set to be launched this month.

According to John Mahama, young entrepreneurs and households will form the third group of the Nkokɔ nkitinkiti’ project with full support from the government to set up and run small-scale poultry farms.

Meanwhile, Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has said middlemen are to blame for the high food prices in urban areas.

According to the Agric Minister, middlemen between the farmers and the urban area buy cheaply from farmers and sell at ‘throat-cutting’ prices to the consumers.

Eric Opoku highlighted that farmers are currently selling food crops at lower prices than at the start of harvest season.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Eric Opoku explained, “When you go to the production point, the farmers are complaining that they were selling a truck of yams at GH¢7,000. When they started harvesting, it came down to GH¢4,000, and it is now hovering around GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,000 at the farm gate”.

Eric Opoku added, “We have some people also posing as middlemen between the farmers and urban areas, and they are engaging in profiteering, trying to enjoy abnormal profit. They buy cheaply from the farmers and sell at ‘throat-cutting’ prices to the consumers. The prices are better than before”.

“When you get to the mall, some of the food items are imported, and the prices cannot be compared to those in the local market now because the local ones are now cheaper than the imported ones,” he stressed.

He further added, “We, as a government, have decided to produce to feed Ghanaians; they must reciprocate our gesture by eating Ghana for us”.

Some Ghanaian reacted to the news saying, “That’s not what he’s up to… He’ll help them legally to get concessions. Building capacity to defend his people, just like we also do when we go abroad. This was always an opportunity gap to be taken. I won’t be surprised if he was sponsored by his country”.

Another netizen added, “I’m just imagining the outrage and protests this would have caused if this were a Nigerian.”.

“Classical example of an interviewer with little listening skill. The guy insists on calling him the “Chinese “, yet he introduced himself as Taiwanese born, another netizen added.

We are sleeping with our legs out.”.

“Don’t wallow in sorrow, or you will stay in opposition” – Gabby Otchere-Darko to NPP

0

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has warned members of the NPP not to wallow in sorrow, else they will stay in opposition.

He noted that NPP must stop feeling sorry for themselves and be bold in defending what they did in government under former President Akufo-Addo.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko cautioned that NPP members indulging in self-pity could dampen and weaken their resolve ahead of the 2028 elections.

Speaking at an event for some NPP members abroad, Gabby Otchere-Darko stated, “Stop feeling sorry because sometimes, if you are not careful and you feel too sorry for yourself, you begin to lose confidence in yourself. You must be bolder in defending what you did, you must be humble in accepting where you fell short, and you must have the confidence enough to say in spite of this and that, I can tell you I built more roads than any government that has spent the number of time I spent in office.

I can tell you I did more for health, agriculture, education, military, the police, I did more for so many areas. You can say all that because the facts are there”.

Gabby added,  “Have the humility to accept that there were some omissions and commissions that could have been done better or differently. But don’t wallow in sorrow, if you wallow in sorrow, you will go down or stay where you are”.

He further added former Akufo-Addo government did not snub the Ashanti region,  “I heard somebody saying in the Ashanti Region that we let Ashantis down because we didn’t fix their roads.

Meanwhile, Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the former Majority Leader, has urged his fellow NPP members to acknowledge the mistakes made during their time in power, apologise and move on.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stated, “The way to go is to own up to certain things and move. You remember not too long ago, Dr Bawumia at a forum even offered an apology that we did our best, but given the circumstances that eschew Post-COVID-19, a few things were done perhaps upon reflection, we should have done it better.

For that reason, I apologise for the things that went wrong. We are not angels; we have learnt useful lessons going forward, and we will do much better. Even some within the party took him on, some said if you are apologising, apologies on your part don’t include me. I didn’t do anything wrong”.

He added, “How can somebody speak like that? You are a cabinet minister. Decisions are taken at the cabinet level, a collective decision that comes out. And then we have somebody say we didn’t get everything right, we apologise for the things we didn’t get right, and as a former cabinet minister, you say As for you, you are not part of it”.

“Ballot paper position isn’t a big deal, it’s the message that wins” – Bawumia’s camp

0

An aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has downplayed ballot position ahead of the NPP’s presidential primary.

According to him, the ballot position is of minimal consequence in a delegate-based election.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye emphasised that ballot paper position isn’t a big deal; it’s the message that wins elections.

He cited Dr Bawumia’s landslide victory in the 2023 NPP primaries as proof from the number two position.

Speaking in an interview on Eyewitness News on Friday, October 10, he stated, “In spite of the position on the ballot, we have a responsibility to sell the message of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and, most importantly, why the party should present him”.

“In the 2023 primaries, he was number two. He won the election because the emphasis is not on the position on the ballot paper but on the message that we carry to the people.”

He further argued, “Remember that this is a delegates’ conference. These are voters who are very political. There is not a single voter out of the over 280,000 who cannot identify any of the five candidates”.

“They can all be identified by name, they can all be identified by position. So typically, except for the funfair, when it comes to delegates’ elections, really the position on the ballot paper isn’t such a big deal.”

However, Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central Member of Parliament, has reacted to securing the number one position on the ballot paper for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.

The NPP presidential aspirant noted that his number position means the top spot is their spot.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, he picked number one in 2023 and number one again in 2026, which proves some things are not a coincidence but a confirmation of his presidential ambition.

In a social media post on X, he wrote, “Number 1 in 2023. Number 1 in 2026. Some things are not a coincidence; they are a confirmation. The top spot is our spot. The message is clear. Let’s get to work!”.

Also, Kwasi Kwarteng, the spokesperson of the campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has said the number one spot gives them another advantage in the race.

According to Kwasi Kwarteng, Kennedy Agyapong’s No.1 spot on the ballot is “a sign of victory”.

He highlighted that they are not fixated on any number, but the number spot gives them an advantage in terms of marketing, PR, and visibility.

Speaking to journalists after the balloting exercise held at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, on Friday, October 10, Kwasi Kwarteng stated, “It was just five candidates. It was an open process, and the candidates had representatives who picked their own numbers”.

“In terms of the people, the marketing, and the visibility of the ballots, being number one gives us a lot of advantage. From day one, we have always maintained that our campaign is the right one,” he said.

He added, “We are going to tell delegates the core message of the party and what Ken has always maintained, that even in the spirit of revival, we need a new face. Kennedy is bringing three things: jobs, jobs, and more jobs. That’s the most important.”

“We are not fixated on any number. “But even after the balloting, number one gives us another advantage in terms of marketing, PR, and visibility on the ballot. These are legitimate factors we can acknowledge.”

“These are two separate elections with different dynamics. This time around, we are at number one, and that should send a strong signal that we are coming up. But the most important thing is that whatever number we choose is divine.”

“We will go to the delegates, talk to them, and we are very hopeful. Like the Bible says, the heart of the king is in the hands of the Lord. So we are confident that God will guide this process in our favour.”

“Not a single executive came to visit Chairman Wontumi since his arrest” – NPP’s Moses Abor shocked

0

Moses Abor, an aspiring NPP National Organiser, has voiced his deep displeasure with the party’s leadership, criticising their perceived neglect of Chairman Wontumi during his ongoing legal battle.

According to Moses Abor, not a single executive has come to visit Chairman Wontumi since his arrest.

Speaking to the media, Moses Abor stated, “We want to thank everyone so far, and I believe God will speak today.  I can’t think far, I am struggling to understand what is happening with the leadership of the NPP.

How is it that a whole regional chairman has been facing a serious situation since Monday, and yet, up till now, not a single party executive has shown up to support him?”

He added, “I think there is something wrong because NPP is not like this; there are a lot of things that are going on in the NDC, but we are quiet.

What at all has Wontumi done? What he is being accused of there is no evidence of him being caught red-handed doing it, and everyone is neglecting him.

This is not about Wontumi but about the party, and I keep saying that no amount of intimidation can bring the NPP down. Thank you very much”.

Meanwhile, Wontumi has been released from police custody after three nights.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) released comes after he fulfilled bail conditions amounting to GH₵25 million imposed across two separate illegal mining cases.

It will be recalled, lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has revealed his client has met all his bail conditions.

Wontumi’s lawyer revealed his client is still in custody due to processing delays by state institutions.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News, Appiah-Kubi explained, “We have met all the bail conditions, but the processing of the order is what is delaying it. The execution requires verification of the properties and confirmation of their valuation, and those are handled by state institutions”.

“I’m told it has now been identified and the report is being sent to the registrar of the court”, he noted.

Andy Appiah-Kubi, in an earlier interview, had disclosed that the court granted Wontumi bail, but the process could not be completed before the close of the day yesterday, Tuesday.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi stated, “We made an application for bail on Tuesday, and the court granted it with three sureties, two to be justified. We are processing the application, and by God’s grace, we have had people to sign the bail bond and stand as sureties”

“It was late after the court proceedings, so we couldn’t complete the process with the police and the court registrar. This morning, the police prosecutor, ASP Godwin, called to inform me that his men are ready to inspect the properties of the sureties so we can expedite the process,” he explained.

He added, “I really appreciate the effort of the police prosecutor for calling me to inform me they are ready. This is rare. I must also commend the court registrar, who is coincidentally also called Gordon, for his effort to expedite the process”

“I am very hopeful the processes will be finalised today, and Wontumi will be released,” he added.

Wontumi, on Tuesday, October 7, was granted a ₵25 million bail by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court in connection with two separate cases relating to alleged illegal mining.

Meanwhile, the next hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.

“Coach Otto Addo inexperienced and immature” – Vanderpuye

0

Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a former Sports Minister, has said Black Stars coach Otto Addo is inexperienced and immature.

However,  Nii Lante Vanderpuye rejected calls for his dismissal following his impressive performance in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.

According to the former Sport Minister, Otto Addo needs support and called on the Ghana Football Association to strengthen his technical team by bringing in experienced figures.

Speaking to Citi News, Vanderpuye explained, “With the team he has, he is quite inexperienced and immature for them. I will not hide that. We need someone with vast experience to come in as a technical advisor to guide us as we go into the World Cup.

But changing him is not something I will recommend at this time—it will be too expensive and also risky,” he said.

He further urged the Blackstars to avenge their two painful defeats to Comoros.

“Against Comoros, we have qualified already. Even if we lose, Madagascar would need to win by eight goals to overtake us, which is practically impossible.

But we should still win against Comoros because of the painful defeat we suffered in the past. We have to prove to them that we are Ghana,” he exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Kofi Adams has once again cast doubt on Black Stars coach Otto Addo following Ghana’s 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic in Morocco.

According to Kofi Adams, coach Otto Addo has been very lucky, but there are still concerns about his performance.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Wednesday, Kofi Adams stated, “Well, he has been lucky, but there are still concerns”.

“Well, concerns that he himself most times when we meet, he will admit maybe I should have done a substitution, or I should have urged them on, or I should have fielded this person to play this role.

“And so there are concerns. But I must say he’s been lucky. It doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t improve. I can’t say that he’s totally incompetent. I can’t use the word incompetence on him because, first and foremost, I’m not a coach. I’m only a minister who loves the game and who analyses it”.

Kofi Adams added, “If I had been a coach before, other coaches could describe whether he’s competent or not, but I’m not a coach, so I will not say so. But I am not satisfied. That’s all that I’m seeking to say.”

“Yes, he’s qualified, but I know I have sat on some hooks and nails and things that were pointing me to get up in the past. I’ve had to get up to use the washroom a number of times by force”.

When asked if Otto Addo is the right man to lead Ghana to the World Cup, Kofi Adams stated, “Well, I can’t answer that question now. If I answer the question now, then I will be kind of creating a situation. Maybe you have some people who say they want another person, and you have others who say they want him.

“Then, if I answered this question now, I would have been creating a problem. We still have games ahead of us. There’s a game we haven’t finished.”

He further revealed that the Sport Minister does not decide Otto Ado’s fate, “The minister doesn’t take those decisions. The minister will receive briefings. The minister will analyse the briefings. The minister will not take that decision alone. There’s a federation that we have handed over our national team to manage, which is the Ghana Football Association.

“They have a role to play, and so I cannot sit here when we haven’t had that conversation to be talking about whether we are retaining or dismissing the coach. I can’t go into that realm.”

“Well, there are decisions to be made every day, including even who plays and who doesn’t play. There are decisions to be made in the coaching, nutrition, and physiotherapy departments.”

Kofi Adams’ comments come following the Black Stars on the brink of qualifying for the World Cup after beating the Central African Republic in Morocco by 5 goals to nil.

The Black Stars are just one point away from qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has said Kennedy Agyapong and other contenders face a daunting task to catch up with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Video – Wontumi finally released after 3 nights behind bars

0

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been released from police custody after three nights.

Chairman Wontumi and the Operations Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited were granted bail in the sum of GHC10 million with two sureties.

The two sureties, one must be justified with proof of landed property.

Wontumi and Akonta Mining have been accused of destroying 13 hectares of land in the Tano Nimiri forest.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman pleaded not guilty to all seven charges levelled against him.

Chairman Wontumi was slapped with seven fresh charges, which stem from his alleged mining in Tano Nimire Forest Reserve in the Western Region.

The charges come barely after he appeared in a separate case.

In this case, Wontumi and four others associated with his Akonta Mining Company Limited are facing the accusations of unlawfully engaging in mining operations, environmental destruction.

Additionally, the Accra High Court has granted Wontumi a ₵15 million bail with three sureties in a separate case.

According to the court, Wontumi’s sureties must be justified with landed properties.

The presiding judge, Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay, granted Wontumi bail on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after hearing arguments from Wontumi’s lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, and the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai.

Andy Appiah-Kubi urged the court to grant bail, insisting that his client posed no flight risk; however, Dr Srem-Sai, who did not oppose, called on the court to impose stringent conditions given the gravity of the charges.

He argued, “Gold mining is a capital-intensive business, and by their own admission, the accused is a man of substance. It is common knowledge that persons of substance are often greater flight risks”.

Wontumi was granted a GHC 15 million bail bond, three sureties, two of whom must justify with landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

He is also to deposit all passports with the court registrar; he has also been placed on the Ghana immigration stop list at all entry and exit points.

Also, Wontumi must report to investigators on the first and third Monday of every month.

The Accra High Court gave the prosecution three weeks to file disclosures.

Meanwhile, the next hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.
