OSP breaks silence on Ofori-Atta’s INTERPOL red notice status

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a public notice regarding the news of INTERPOL dropping a red notice against former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to the OSP, the process initiated by the lawyer of Ken Ofori-Atta to get their client removed from the  INTERPOL red notice is still pending.

The OSP, however, argued that the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files is still studying the case, adding that during the proceedings, the Applicant’s name, image and details are often removed from public view until a final determination.

In a post on X, the OSP stated, “In October 2025. The Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files notified Ghanaian Authorities that the Accused Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta had applied for the removal of his name from INTERPOL’s Red Notice. The Commission requested Ghana’s response to Mr Ofori Atta’s application. Ghana’s response was duly submitted on 22 October 2025.

By communication dated 7 November 2025, the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files notified Ghanaian Authorities that Accused Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta had filed additional arguments in an addendum, and the Commission requested Ghanaian Authorities to file their response to Mr Ofori-Atta’s additional arguments by 21 November 2025.

The proceedings are still pending, and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files is still studying the case. During the pendency of the proceedings, the Applicant’s name, image and details are often redacted from public view until a final determination is made.

The public is urged to disregard all publications to the contrary as borne of mischief and misinformation”.

The OSP statement comes on the heels of news of INTERPOL removing the Red Notice for former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to reports, the INTERPOL red notice was removed after a lawyer for Ken Ofori-Atta argued that it was dubiously submitted.

In a post shared by GHOne on X stated, “INTERPOL removes the Red Notice for Ken Ofori-Atta after his lawyers argued that it was dubiously submitted, stating that the request broke key rules, including the ban on politically motivated actions, exclusion of administrative matters like procurement, public financial management issues and the requirement that a case must already have formal charges in a recognised court”.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), Termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC) for the Distribution and Ambulance Procurement: A Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

On June 13, 2025, Mayo Clinic in the United States revealed Ken Ofori-Atta has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is expected to undergo surgery on June 13, 2025.

The wife, Prof. Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, in the statement dated June 16, 2025, explained that Mr Ofori-Atta successfully underwent the surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” she added.

“Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she said.

She further gave a possible timeline by which her husband would be able to honour the invitation by the Special Prosecutor to appear before his outfit in person.

According to Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, after a successful surgery on June 13, Mr Ofori-Atta would require about 3 months to recover fully.

Mr Ofori-Atta failed to appear before the OSP for an investigative interview scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

The OSP later issued a notice placing Ken Ofori-Atta on the INTERPOL Red Alert Notice database, but despite the notice, the former finance minister is still at large.

“You will be shocked when you see Agradaa; her whole body has changed” – Osofo Appiah Biblical

Osofo Appiah Biblical  has offered a striking account of Nana Agradaa, also known as Evangelist Mama Pat current condition, describing her as visibly transformed and ‘pitiful.’

Sofo Appiah Biblically revealed that his case with incarcerated Rev. Patricia Asiamah is not yet concluded.

He further expressed deep sadness for Agradaa, whom he claims has changed significantly and become very withdrawn.

According to him, all three of her lawyers failed to appear in court today, preventing her plea bargain from taking place, and as a result, the case has been adjourned to December 2nd.

Speaking to the media, Osofo Appiah Biblical stated, “Agradaa was in court today. When you see her, you will be shocked. Her whole body has changed. We were stunned by her physical appearance in court today.”

Meanwhile, Osofo Appiah, the complainant, claimed that he was assaulted by individuals believed to be close associates of Agradaa during her time as a fetish priestess.

He further accuses her of unlawfully airing a private video of him engaging in a sexual act with a married woman. The footage was reportedly broadcast on her former television station, Thunder TV.

Agradaa was arrested and later granted bail of GH¢200,000 with two sureties on July 18, 2024.

Recall that there were rumours that the embattled Agradaa was seeking a plea bargaining agreement with the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, in another court case.

She is seeking a plea bargain in a case involving her sharing non-consensual intimate images of preacher Osofo Appiah, also known as Osofo Biblical.

Agradaa is now seeking a plea bargaining agreement with AG Ayine in the case where she and two others have been charged for sharing nude images of a prophet.

Also, Agradaa is already serving a 15-year jail term after she was sentenced for two counts of defrauding by false pretences.

She was sentenced by Her Honour Evelyn Asamoah of the Circuit Court.

Agradaa was also fined GH¢300 for one count of charlatanic advertisement, with a 30-day custodial sentence in default of payment.

Her charges stem from a televised advertisement she aired in 2022.

In the ad, Agradaa claimed she has the power to double the money for her congregants at the Godsway International Heaven Church, misleading them into surrendering their money during an all-night church service at her Weija-based ministry in Accra.

According to the Judge, Evelyn Asamoah, Agradaa skilfully executed the offences and showed no remorse during proceedings.

It’s impossible to complete the Accra-Kumasi 6-lane expressway in 3 years – NPP’s Kwadwo Poku

0

Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, an Energy Analyst and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the Mahama-led government can’t complete the Accra-Kumasi expressway in three years.

The NPP man is quoted by GHOne TV to have said, “It’s impossible to complete the Accra-Kumasi 6-lane expressway in 3 years”.

Also, President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has reacted to the John Mahama government’s 198km Accra–Kumasi expressway project under the Big Push initiative.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, the 198km Accra–Kumasi expressway project is Visionary.

He, however, warned that the project should be done without pain to residents, the environment and our coffers.

Franklin Cudjoe also highlighted that the project must be properly procured with only the best contractors for the job.

In a social media post ob X, he wrote, “Visionary. It should be done without pain to residents, the environment and our coffers. Clear alternate routes be prepared,  advance warning or notices to residents of changes in traffic, safety notices and warnings and 24-hour construction.

It must be properly procured with only the best contractors for the job. Good luck to all of us. May we see such replicated on all major roads”, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has said the John Mahama-led government is committed to completing the 198-kilometre Accra–Kumasi Expressway in three years.

The Finance Minister revealed, the expressway is one of the top priorities of the Mahama government under the Big Push Infrastructure Programme.

According to Ato Forson, the 198-kilometre Accra–Kumasi Expressway is designed to ease travel, improve safety and connect Ghana’s two largest cities.

He further revealed that the project will operate on a user-pay model, explaining that the toll will differ.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast on Friday, November 14, 2025, Dr Forson stated, “With the express road, you will pay something higher than a toll, but with a trunk road, you will not pay, or at worst, you pay only a toll fee.

“We are working on the financing for the Accra-Kumasi Express road. The engineer’s estimate is already out, but because they have yet to tender it out, I cannot put the financing out like that.

“We have budgeted 30 billion for Big Push. President Mahama will finish this project before he leaves office,” he said.

When asked if the 198km Accra–Kumasi Expressway could be completed within three years, Ato Forson stated, “Yes, we will get it done.”

In the video shared during the 2025 budget presentation by Ato Forson, he stated, “The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is the flagship of President Mohammed’s Big Push infrastructure program.

It is Ghana’s first fully modern six-lane bi-directional Class A expressway, a highway worthy of a nation on the rise. Stretching 198.7 kilometres, this expressway will become the central spine of Ghana’s economy, linking our capital city, Accra and Kumasi, the heartbeat of the Ashanti Region”.

He further added, “It will cut through the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions, creating a powerful southern-northern economic corridor that connects people, markets, and opportunities. To achieve this, the expressway follows a brand new alignment.

This alone reduces the current travel distance by more than 50 kilometres, bringing it down from 250 kilometres to just under 199 kilometres. The impact on time and efficiency will be remarkable. Travel time between Accra and Kumasi will be cut by half. Transport costs are expected to fall by nearly 40%”.

“No serious country will appoint men with a history of sexual harassment” – Ama K Abebrese blasts NDC gov’t

0

Ghanaian actress Ama K. Abebrese has fired shots at the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

The renowned actress has said no serious country will appoint men with a documented history of sexual harassment.

Ama K Abebrese condemned the appointment of men who sexually assault women to key leadership positions by the John Mahama government.

According to her, the Mahama government, in placing those men with a documented history of sexual harassment and assault, sends a bad signal that misconduct against women can even get people rewarded in government.

In a post shared on social media, Ama K Abebrese wrote, “There is no serious country that will appoint men who have a documented history and allegations of sexual assault/sexual harassment against females to high governmental positions. It sends the message that men can abuse females and be rewarded. Do Better Ghana,” she wrote.

Her post comes following the recent appointment of Kwasi Kyei Darkwah as Ghana’s Special Envoy to the Caribbean Region and also Professor Ransford Gyampo as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority.

Kwasi Kyei Darkwah and Professor Ransford Gyampo, in the past, have faced sexual assault/sexual harassment charges against them.

In the last 24 hours, Staunch feminist and NDC member Amelia Amedela Amemate, popularly known as Dela Goldheart, has said she was disappointed in her own party, the NDC, for appointing Professor Ransford Gyampo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority despite sexual harassment levelled against him.

According to NDC’s Amelia, Professor Ransford Gyampo nearly ruined her education because he couldn’t keep his zipper closed.

Dela Goldheart highlighted that she was disappointed because Prof Gyampo’s appointment sent a wrong message to young women all over Ghana.

It will be recalled that some years ago, Amelia Amedela Amemate added her voice to that of several other women calling for the head of Professor Ransford Gyampo following the BBC Africa Eye exposé ‘Sex for grades’.

Dela Goldheart narrated her ordeal of how Prof Gyampo allegedly harassed her while she was a student at the University of Ghana.

According to her, she was shocked at Prof Gyampo’s consistent demand for sex, knowing how reserved and powerful he was, adding that many of her colleagues saw him to be “young, smart and powerful”.

In a fresh Facebook post that has surfaced following Professor Ransford Gyampo, in a viral video, in a heated altercation with Dr George Domfeh, two lecturers at the University of Ghana.

In a viral video circulating on Facebook, Dr Domfeh was heard making further allegations against Prof Gyampo, including claims about inappropriate conduct with students.

“You are a fool. You are a professor who sleeps with children,” Domfeh alleged.

ECOWAS court directs AG to file a response in former CJ Torkonoo’s case

0

The ECOWAS court has rejected a preliminary objection from the Government of Ghana, which argued that the regional court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case filed by former Chief Justice Torkornoo.

Ghana’s Attorney General had argued that the matter was sub judice because related issues were before a Ghanaian court.

The ECOWAS court, however, disagreed, describing the objection as misplaced.

They argued that the application before the regional court concerns alleged violations of Justice Torkonoo’s human rights during the suspension and removal process, which does not seek to review or overturn any decision of a Ghanaian court.

The regional court resolved that it has jurisdiction to determine the substantive matter, having established the existence of a prima facie human rights claim.

The ECOWAS court, therefore, declared the main application admissible and directed Ghana’s Attorney General to file a response.

It will be recalled, Deputy Attorney General clarified that the government failed to file its defence because they raised concerns objecting the jurisdiction of the ECOWAS court to hear the case.

Speaking in a TV3 interview on September 4, 2025, he said, “This dawn, we woke up to another process which was served on us from the court that the former Chief Justice is seeking judgment in default of defence. In other words, we’ve not defended the substantive suit; we had 30 days to do that, and so we have not filed our defence.”

“But our preliminary thought is that, if we are objecting to the jurisdiction of the court, and the court has taken arguments and has adjourned to give a ruling one way or the other, we do not exactly think that we have to file on the substantive issue. This is because the question before the court is whether the court has jurisdiction or not,” he stated.

He further added, “The court has to clear that aspect first, and when it says that it has jurisdiction to assume, then they will order us to file our defence.

Indeed, if the court was interested, it could have ordered that we should file our defence together with our preliminary objection because we were heard”.

“It’s not as if we argued that matter in the ECOWAS Court, and we were not heard. The court, in adjourning, didn’t give any further direction. They told us that they are rising and then they have adjourned the case indefinitely, and when they come back, they will give us further directions.

So, we were waiting for the court to give us further direction, only to be served with a notice for default of defence. We would have to file to oppose the application for default judgment,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, in her suit, accused President John Dramani Mahama of failing to specify the claims in the petitions for her removal.

According to the details of the lawsuit, she is seeking ten reliefs from the ECOWAS Court, including $10 million in compensation for moral and reputational damages suffered by the Applicant as a result of her illegal suspension and unfair investigation.

ECOWAS Court throws out former CJ Torkonoo’s application

0

The ECOWAS Court of Justice has thrown out the former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo’s application requesting to stop the probe committee, which investigated her removal from office.

It will be recalled, Justice Torkonoo applied to the ECOWAS court for the work of the committee chaired by Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang that investigated her removal from office.

On November 19, 2025, the ECOWAS court delivered its ruling. They noted that the former Chief Justice had established a prima facie case alleging human rights violations.

However, argued that the former Chief Justice failed to demonstrate the urgency required for the Court to issue temporary orders stopping the committee’s proceedings.

The ECOWAS court Judges added that Justice Torkornoo was suspended on April 22, 2025 and was fully aware of the ongoing processes, but waited three months before filing her motion, which undermined her own claims of irreparable harm.

The Court then dismissed her request for a prohibition order.

Also, the ECOWAS court rejected a preliminary objection from the Government of Ghana, which argued that the regional court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case.

Meanwhile, President John Mahama sacked the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect after he received a first report from the five-member committee he constituted to investigate three petitions brought against the Chief Justice.

Hours after President Mahama received the committee reports, Chief Justice Torkornoo was sacked with immediate effect.

A statement from the presidency stated, “President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Article 146(9) of the 1992 Constitution, removed the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect”.

“This follows receipt of the report of the Committee constituted under Article 146(6) to inquire into a petition submitted by a Ghanaian citizen, Mr. Daniel Ofori. After considering the petition and the evidence, the Committee found that the grounds of stated misbehaviour under Article 146(1) had been established and recommended her removal from office.

“Under Article 146(9), the President is required to act in accordance with the Committee’s recommendation,” the statement concluded.

OSP gambling with charges against Ofori-Atta and former GRA bosses – Kpebu

0

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has said the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is gambling with charges levelled against former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta and seven others in the SML case.

Lawyer Kpebu raised concerns over the charges filed by the OSP, describing the charges as questionable.

According to Lawyer Kpebu, he does not trust the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng after he allowed Ofori-Atta to escape the country.

Speaking on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, November 18, Kpebu stated, “Kissi Agyebeng allowed Ofori-Atta to escape, so I cannot trust him. If you look at some of the charges he has filed, he’s deliberately gambling with financial loss. Financial loss is not part of the OSP’s mandate.

“Now you’re going to use this case to gamble. If you get to the court and it says no, as for financial loss, it’s too huge. What are you going to do? Is it part of the ploy to gamble?”

He added, “I don’t trust the charges at all. I cannot trust Kissi Agyebeng; he once worked for Ofori-Atta. Ofori-Atta is his formal client. Kissi worked for Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko. Same circle. Ask if Kissi Agyebeng ever attended a meeting with Ofori-Atta, and that man is going to prosecute Ofori-Atta, aaahbaai, what a joke.”

His comments come following the OSP formally charging Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and 7 others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences.

In a short statement on X on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the OSP stated, “ The OSP this morning formally charged former Minister for Finance, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and 7 others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences”.

Also, Martin Kpebu, in a separate interview, labelled the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, as a double agent.

According to Martin Kpebu, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is engaged in double agent work, which Ghanaians cannot continue to deal with.

He boldly claimed that Kissi Agyebeng appears to be working for the people of Ghana, and at the same time serving the former finance minister Ofori-Atta’s interest.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, Martin Kpebu stated, “This double agent work, we cannot continue to deal with double agency. You are either working for the people of Ghana or you are not. But to be working, to appear to be working for the people of Ghana, and also be serving Ofori-Atta’s interest, we can’t accept that,” he said.

He added, “Because he said, ‘I intercepted the letter, I intercepted the letter,’ and you sat down and you allowed him to go.”

Lawyer Kpebu further confirmed reports that he has been summoned by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

According to him, the OSP wants him to clarify some comments he made about the office.

He added, “They said the comments I’ve made, and that’s just effectively most of these things that I have here, that I should come and clarify. So I’ll go and clarify”.

“It’s even easier for me. It’s an opportunity for me to drum home the point that they should leave quickly… when they see my face, they will see that the guy means business. And I will be repeating it to them that they should go… the game is over”.

“If Mahama completely resets Ghana, I will leave my party, GUM, and join him” – Osofo Kyiri Abosom

0

Christian Kwabena Andrews (Osofo Kyiri Abosom), the Founder of Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has boldly declared he would leave his own party if President John Dramani Mahama can reset Ghana on the right path.

According to Osofo Kyiri Abosom, he would leave his party Ghana Union Movement (GUM) and join the NDC to help move the country forward.

Speaking in an interview, Christian Kwabena Andrews boldly stated, “If President John Mahama completely resets Ghana, I will leave my political party, GUM, join him, and help the country move forward.”

In related news, President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Cabinet has approved the Public Tribunals Bill.

According to John Mahama, the approval of the Public Tribunals Bill is aimed at fast-tracking the prosecution of galamsey cases.

President Mahama explained that the Public Tribunals Bill will strengthen the country’s resolve to clamp down on galamsey activities.

He highlighted that the measure forms part of the government’s broader efforts to curb environmental destruction and protect Ghana’s forests and water bodies.

Speaking during a meeting with the Christian Council at Jubilee House on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, John Mahama stated, “What the Cabinet did was to pass the Public Tribunals Bill so that we will push issues related to illegal mining to the public tribunals. They will adjudicate faster and ensure that justice is seen to be done”.

“If this comes into effect, we will be able to process cases against illegal mining even quicker,” he added.

Also, John Mahama has delivered a strong message to his appointees, reinforcing his dedication to combating corruption within his administration.

According to President Mahama, the first person who brings a scandal to his government will be hanged on a cross.

President Mahama noted that Ghana’s problems in the corruption fight have always been post-regime corruption fight, with the incumbent government failing to deal with corrupt appointees once a scandal emerges.

Speaking to leaders of the Christian Council of Ghana in Accra on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, President Mahama stated, Before I became president, I had indicated that we’re going to take the fight against corruption to a whole new level. And it’s not anything personal against anybody”.

“Our problem in the fight against corruption is that it is always post-regime corruption that we fight,” he noted.

He added, “And when we start investigating the cases of corruption, the previous government states that, ‘You are witch-hunting us; this is political persecution’”.

“I have served notice to my ministers, every day at Cabinet meetings: woe betide any of my appointees who brings a scandal. I will hang them on a tree,” he declared.

Police bust Spiritualist and suspected armed robber Victor Biney

0

The Juaboso District Police Command has arrested a self-acclaimed spiritualist and suspected armed robber, Victor Biney, alias Abeiku.

Victor Biney has been arrested for leading a violent attack on miners at Sehwi Antobia in the Western North Region.

The suspect is already on the wanted list for multiple robbery cases for his alleged involvement in a violent robbery attack on a mining site at Sefwi Antobia in the Western North Region.

According to police reports, Biney and a group of accomplices stormed a mining site in an attempted robbery.

The State News in a post on X stated, “A subsequent search on him uncovered talismans, a firearm, AAA cartridges, knives, torchlights, and other items believed to be used in his illegal activities.

Investigations reveal that Biney is connected to several robbery incidents within the Juaboso area. He also has an active case at the Bibiani Circuit Court, with judgment scheduled for December 9, 2025.

Sources further allege that he has been recruiting young men and providing them with supposed “black powers” claimed to offer protection against guns and cutlasses”.

Victor Biney has since been arraigned before the Juaboso Magistrate Court and remanded into police custody for two weeks as investigations continue.

His arrest followed a complaint that seven armed, masked men had attacked miners at a site near Sefwi Antobia, assaulted them with cutlasses, and stolen quantities of gold concentrate and several mobile phones.

The police are on a manhunt to arrest the remaining accomplices currently at large so they can face the full rigours of the law.

In related news, the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of four suspects for the murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the destooled Akwamuhene of Tanoso in the Bono East Region.

According to the Police statement, the suspects were arrested between Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The suspects have been identified as Issifu Addae (alias Akwasi Addae), aged 48, Stephen Gyamfi, aged 55, Augustine Arhinful, aged 42, and Martha Mansah, aged 65.

The deceased had reportedly been destooled but contested the decision, leading to disputes.

According to police sources, all four suspects have denied any involvement in the killing during interrogation but are in custody, assisting investigations, while police pursue four others linked to the case.

The findings suggest the late destooled chief had been accused of misappropriating five gold bars belonging to the family, and also illegally selling family land.

The suspects Issifu Addae, Stephen Gyamfi, Sampson, and Fosu allegedly visited the disputed land to stop the developer from continuing work and threatened to teach the deceased a lesson.

The Police Investigators further suspect the newly installed Akwamuhene, Nana Akyeampong Duodu, might have masterminded the murder.

Nana Akyeampong Duodu is said to have travelled to the United States at the time of the murder to establish an alibi.

His comments come after Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, announced that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited Martin Kpebu and Media General’s TV3 for investigation.

According to Manasseh Azure, the invitation comes after comments made by Martin Kpebu alleging that there is corruption brewing at the OSP.

In a post on X, the investigative journalist stated, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited   Martin Kpebu & TV3 to assist investigation over allegations made by Martin Kpebu that there’s corruption at the OSP.

Martin Kpebu also said on TV3 that the OSP deliberately looked away for Ken Ofori-Atta to leave”.

The revelation comes after Martin Kpebu made a shocking revelation about the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

He alleged that there is a lot of corruption going on at the OSP under the watch of Kissi Agyebeng, labelling the office a “crime scene”.

According to Martin Kpebu, if a poll is conducted at the OSP, there will be countless allegations against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

Speaking in an Interview on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 8, 2025, Martin Kpebu alleged, “There are a lot of corruption cases that are brewing in the OSP itself. The Office of the Special Prosecutor has become a crime scene. And I’m telling you this on authority. Let’s go conduct a poll in the OSP office today; you will see the myriad of allegations against Kissi.

“I want to say they are going to answer this question: are there two employees of the OSP who are currently working as house helps in his home? Are there two members of staff who are currently working as house helps?

Meanwhile, they are on the OSP payroll. Kissi Agyebeng should tell the people of Ghana who is Kwabena Boateng Adu, popularly called Baron?” he quizzed.

Also, Lawyer Kpebu accused Kissi Agyebeng of being clueless about Ghana’s constitution despite being a first-class graduate of law.

He alleged that Kissi Agyebeng shockingly colluded with former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to leave Ghana.

Lawyer Kpebu highlighted that Kissi Agyebeng’s recent interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), where he revealed he was powerless to stop Ofori Atta, makes him complicit in the former minister’s leaving Ghana.

Speaking in an Interview on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 8, 2025, Martin Kpebu stated, “I told you that I suspected collusion between Kissi Agyebeng and Ken Ofori-Atta. There you have it; he has forced Kissi Agyebeng to come and confess. You heard the statement. He said he watched Ken Ofori-Atta leave. He watched him leave. He was powerless to prevent it.

“He went to the Immigration Service but didn’t get help. He went to NIB but didn’t get help. When the obvious answer, and the best, was around — that is, tell the sovereign, the owner of the country, the ultimate decider of things in this republic, that is the people of Ghana,” he added.

Lawyer Kpebu noted, “Let’s not forget, first-class graduate — first-class graduate of law — and Kissi doesn’t understand the Constitution that the ultimate decider of major decisions in Ghana is the public. Inform the people. That is the preamble to the Constitution. Sovereignty resides in the people of Ghana — Article 1(1).”

Meanwhile, Lawyer Kpebu, in an earlier interview, threatened to initiate the removal of the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng if he fails to immediately freeze assets related to the terminated SML contract.

“I was disappointed my own party, NDC, appointed Prof Gyampo after sexual harassment” – Dela Goldheart speaks

0

Staunch feminist and NDC member Amelia Amedela Amemate, popularly known as Dela Goldheart, has said she was disappointed in her own party the NDC for appointing Professor Ransford Gyampo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority despite sexual harassment levelled against him.

Amelia Amedela rehashed her experience with Prof Gyampo and how she was disappointed with the NDC appointing him to government. She wrote, “This has been making waves since yesterday, especially in NDC and NPP WhatsApp groups and the like. Look, I have no interest in helping the NPP with its propaganda. I also have no interest in shielding a man who nearly ruined my education simply because he could not keep his zip closed.

Gyampo was caught in 2019 doing what he had done to me from 2010 to 2014. I spoke about it publicly in 2019, when the BBC exposé aired, and he denied the allegations. I also submitted my evidence to the University of Ghana committee that sat on the case. Sadly, he was suspended for only six months. Although I could not understand why the university did not permanently prevent him from interacting with young people moving forward, I understood that the fight against sexual harassment in our schools was far from being won”.

She added, “Then the NDC, the same party I belong to, appointed Gyampo to a government office upon resuming power. I was disappointed. Because what did that say to those of us who suffered at his hands? What message did that appointment send to young women all over Ghana? Could they trust the party? Would their voices even matter?

A blogger decided to share this because this is what bloggers do–they misrepresent facts and distort timelines. I said everything I needed to say before the fight between this man and his lecturer colleague happened. My account was not even active when it occurred. So to suggest that I am now sharing my horrible experience at the hands of this man to support NPP propaganda is another trap you are hoping to set”.

Cabinet approves Public Tribunals Bill aimed at fast-tracking prosecution of galamsey cases

0

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Cabinet has approved the Public Tribunals Bill.

In related news, Abena Osei-Asare, the former Deputy Finance Minister, has strongly criticised the government’s allocation of just GH¢150 million to combat illegal mining.

During the 2026 budget debate, she argued that GH¢150 million funding is woefully inadequate, comparing it to attempting to win a battle with plastic chairs, and would be ineffectual in addressing the problem.

Abena Osei-Asare challenged the government’s stated priority of fighting illegal mining, highlighting that the GH₵150 million allocated to the relevant ministry represents a mere 0.003% of the total budget.

Speaking on the floor of parliament during the 2026 budget debate, Abena Osei-Asare stated, “It [galamsey] threatens our survival. So, Mr Speaker, if something threatens your survival, what are you supposed to do? You are supposed to fight it to make sure you survive,” she said, questioning why a national emergency was being treated as an afterthought.

“How can you fight it when, with a GH¢2.1 billion budget, you only give the agency to fight it GH¢150 million?” she asked.

She accused the government of offering rhetoric instead of action.

The lawmaker added, “Are you telling Ghanaians that you are fighting it, or are you just putting out words and playing with Ghanaians?

“GH¢35 million, just 1 per cent of the Ministry’s allocation,” Abena Osei-Asare added.

“The galamsey menace is a war. If it’s a war, then this budget is telling us that it’s like we are on a battlefield with plastic chairs instead of arms to fight and make sure we win,” she said, describing the allocation as “words that don’t have any meaning.”

“That is when you can tell me that this is really threatening our survival and so you’re doing something about it,” she said.

Also, Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West and Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the GH₵150 million allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

According to Peter Lanchene Toobu, the GH₵150 million for the NAIMOS in the fight against illegal mining is too small.

The lawmaker further asserted that Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, will do something about the allocation to NAIMOS in the 2026 mid-year budget.

The NDC MP is quoted by TV3 as having said, “GH₵150 million for NAIMOS is too small and I’m quite sure the Minister of Finance will do something about it in the mid-year budget”.

“That man nearly ruined my education because he couldn’t keep zip closed – NDC’s Amelia on Prof Gyampo sex-for-grade

“The first person who brings a scandal to this gov’t will be hanged on a cross” – Mahama warns

0

President John Mahama has delivered a strong message to his appointees, reinforcing his dedication to combating corruption within his administration.

I will hang them on a tree,” he declared, signalling a zero-tolerance approach to corruption.

Also, President John Dramani Mahama announced that the Cabinet has approved the Public Tribunals Bill.

According to John Mahama, the approval of the Public Tribunals Bill is aimed at fast-tracking the prosecution of galamsey cases.

President Mahama explained that the Public Tribunals Bill will strengthen the country’s resolve to clamp down on galamsey activities.

“If this comes into effect, we will be able to process cases against illegal mining even quicker,” he added.

Meanwhile, Daniel Domelevo, the former Auditor-General, has said that internal auditors, directors must be prosecuted where corruption is identified.

According to Domelevo, the fight against corruption will yield results when it is extended to auditors, directors, and heads of institutions who preside over corrupt practices.

Speaking on Ghana’s corruption fight, Daniel Domelevo stated, “Internal auditors, directors, and heads of institutions where corruption is identified must also be prosecuted”

“[President] Mahama can eliminate corruption by strengthening Article 286(4) of the Constitution and ensuring that provisions on reverse burden and unexplained wealth are actively enforced,” Mr Domelevo explained.

He added, “Corruption cases are likely to worsen in the next five years if we fail to enforce existing laws”.

Afenyo-Markin is my friend; I have no interest in becoming Minority leader – Patrick Boamah

0

Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has refuted claims that he is eyeing the minority leader position in parliament.

According to Patrick Yaw Boamah, he has been friends with Afenyo-Markin for so many years, and he has no interest in becoming the minority leader.

The Okaikwei Central lawmaker recounted how he stood by Afenyo-Markin when some of his colleagues attempted to plot a coup to remove him as minority leader for the 9th Parliament.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on November 17, 2025, stated, “There is nobody in Ghana’s Parliament who knows Afenyo-Markin more than I do. We’ve been friends for years, and we’re still very close. We share ideas all the time”.

“I was one of the people who defended him when some individuals tried to unseat him. We are grooming young leaders in the party, so there was no need to change him. At that point, he hadn’t even served a full year as Majority Leader before we lost the election,” he said.

Patrick Yaw Boamah added, “I’m not interested in the Minority Leader position. But that does not mean the caucus does not have other ideas because we are building a caucus as a minority and as a party to win the next general election, and we must be very strategic. What we discuss internally shouldn’t be discussed outside. It doesn’t help unity”.

When asked if he was nursing presidential ambition, Patrick Boamah did not outrightly rule it out, nor did he show keen interest. He stated, “God has His time for everything. I am qualified to run for the presidential primaries, but I believe everything must happen at the right time,” he said.

Patrick Boamah asserted that his priority is helping to reorganise and strengthen the NPP as it seeks to reposition itself to move the country forward.

“We’re working on fixing the party. We believe we have strong policies that can help the country,” he added.

Also, the minority leader in parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has told his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) members that when they are united, no evil can touch them.

Afenyo-Markin made these remarks when he recounted how Nana B came to his home around 4 a.m. to urge him to go and represent Abronye in court.

Speaking on Movement TV, Afenyo-Markin stated, “At dawn, I was scrolling through social media, and around 4 am, Nana B called me. When I picked he told me he was at my gate. When he came inside, he told me they had taken Abronye to court”.

He further revealed that when they arrived, the judge was visibly shaken by the presence of numerous high-profile NPP figures who had turned up to support Abronye.

Afenyo-Markin further emphasised that the turnout was a clear demonstration of the strength of unity within the party, noting that if the NPP remains united, nothing can bring them down.

He added, “After a few. Days of public outcry, the Attorney General himself went for variation, so have you seen the power in unity? It was a wake-up call that when we are united, as a party, no evil can touch any of us.

The NDC MP is quoted by TV3 as having said, “GH₵150 million for NAIMOS is too small and I’m quite sure the Minister of Finance will do something about it in the mid-year budget”.

Their remarks come after Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has revealed that an amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in the 2026 fiscal year to fight galamsey.

According to Dr Forson, the allocation demonstrates the Mahama government’s continued commitment to protecting Ghana’s natural environment.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Ato Forson stated, “An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) for their activities against illegal mining and forest degradation”.

He added that the GH¢150m allocated will support ongoing enforcement, intelligence, and monitoring operations led by NAIMOS in the fight against illegal mining.

It will be recalled, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, some months ago revealed the staggering potential financial scope of the anti-galamsey effort.

According to the Lands Minister, a comprehensive fight against illegal mining could cost the nation an estimated $10 billion.

The Lands minister is quoted by 3 news to have said, “The fight against galmsey could cost $10 billion”.

NAIMOS was established to coordinate national efforts against illegal mining by integrating the work of security agencies, regulatory bodies, and local authorities.

“If the parliament of Ghana passes the anti-LGBTQ bill, I will sign it” – Mahama declares

0

President John Dramani Mahama has made a definitive statement on the pending anti-LGBTQ bill legislation, declaring that he will assent to the bill if it is passed by Parliament.

According to John Mahama, a person’s gender is determined at birth, adding that the family is the foundation of our nation.

He added that there is no question what Ghanaians believe in.

Speaking to leaders of the Christian Council of Ghana in Accra on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, President Mahama stated, “We agree with the Speaker to relay the bill and let Parliament debate it, and then if there are any amendments or whatever that have to be done. If the Parliament of the people of Ghana endorses the bill, votes on it, and passes it, and it comes to me as President, I will sign it”.

“A person’s gender is determined at birth, and the family is the foundation of our nation. That is our position. So, there are no questions or equivocations about what we believe,” President Mahama noted.

He added, “We agree with the Speaker to relay the bill and let Parliament debate it, and then if there are any amendments or whatever that have to be done”.

Also, Speaker Bagbin, on the floor of Parliament, explained that the bill, which was first introduced during the Eighth Parliament, had to be reintroduced in the Ninth Parliament.

He detailed that parliamentary procedures do not allow for the automatic transfer of unpassed legislation between sessions.

Speaker Bagbin highlighted that the legislative process encountered some setbacks with the former president’s refusal to assent to the bill, and also debates over whether the current administration should adopt it as a government-sponsored bill.

However, the Speaker explained that both the Majority and Minority sides have shown strong bipartisan support.

He further indicated that President Mahama is willing to give assent once it is passed.

Alban Bagbin stated, “We understand the expectations and the passion surrounding this bill”.

“What we are doing is to ensure that when it is passed, it will stand the test of time and be implemented effectively.”

Meanwhile, the Anti-LBGTQ bill under the former Akufo-Addo government faced several lawsuits filed against the bill, leading to a delay in its signing.

Eventually, the bill, which became a burden for the previous government, remained just a bill and was not passed into law before Akufo-Addo left power.

The bill sought to criminalise Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ+) activities in Ghana, was passed by the 8th Parliament, but remained unsigned before the 8th Parliament was dissolved.

Furthermore, conversations and discussions about the controversial anti-LBGTQ bill have resurfaced under the John Mahama government.

Gov’t to extradite Sedina Tamakloe to serve her 10-year jail term in Ghana – AG

0

The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has revealed that the Ghanaian government has formally applied to American authorities for the extradition of former MASLOC CEO, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.

It will be recalled that Sedina Tamakloe Attionu has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a High Court in Accra.

The former MASLOC CEO was sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labour for causing financial loss of GH¢90 million to the state in April 2024.

In 2019, the case began; however, during the course of the trial, Sedina Tamakloe travelled to the United States to seek medical attention.

Sedina Tamakloe was tried in absentia after failing to return to Ghana.

A former Chief Operating Officer of MASLOC, Daniel Axim, was also sentenced to five years in prison with hard labour.

Sedina Tamakloe and Daniel Axim were found guilty on 78 counts of causing financial loss to the state, stealing, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and causing loss to public property in violation of public procurement law.

According to the Attorney General, the government of Ghana wants Sedina Tamakloe to serve her 10-year jail term in Ghana.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Dr Ayine revealed, “The Office of the Attorney General is awaiting the execution of our request to have her extradited to serve her prison sentence in Ghana.

The International Cooperation Unit of the Attorney General’s Department followed up on our request with the Department of Justice of the United States of America in September 2025”.

“So if there is any impression being created that I am not taking any steps, this is the evidence that in September, that is just a month ago, I took the step of inquiring from the United States Justice Department about the steps that they were taking in respect of the extradition.”

He added, “They indicated that they are following their extradition procedures in executing the request and that the fugitive will be extradited as soon as they have satisfied all the procedures. Thank you, Mr Speaker.”

OSP drops more details on Ofori-Atta, 7 others charged with 78 counts of corruption-related offences

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has dropped more details on former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and 7 others over the SML scandal, charged with 78 counts.

According to the OSP, they have formally charged Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and 7 others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences.

In a short statement on X on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the OSP stated, “ The OSP this morning formally charged former Minister for Finance, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and 7 others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences”.

The OSP in a post another post on X further detailed, “The Republic V Kenneth Ofori-Atta and 7 others

All you need to know;

Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1) was the Minister of Finance at all material times in relation to him.

Ernest Darko Akore (A2) was the Chef de Cabinet of Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1) in his capacity as the Minister of Finance at all material times in relation to him.

Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3) was the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority at all material times in relation to him.

Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (A4) was the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority at all material times in relation to him. Isaac Crentsil (A5) was the Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority at all material times in relation to him.

Kwadwo Damoah (A6) was the Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority at all material times in relation to him. Evans Adusei (A7) is the Chief Executive, beneficial owner, and controlling mind of SML (A8).

SML (A8) is a company registered in Ghana (formerly known as Strategic Mobilisation Enhancement Limited).

The Accused Persons conspired to set up and did perform acts in furtherance of the conspiracy to set up a criminal enterprise of directly and indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain unfair advantage for SML (A8) in the award of procurement contracts for transaction audit services, external price verification services, measurement audit of downstream petroleum products, upstream petroleum audit services, and minerals audit services purportedly by the Government of Ghana, acting through the Ministry of Finance and Ghana Revenue Authority.

The criminal enterprise was commenced in 2017 by Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1), Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3), Evans Adusei (A7), and SML (A8), with the other Accused Persons joining the adventure at various times. The criminal enterprise was characterised by no genuine need for contracting SML (A8) for the obligations it purported to perform, and the contracts were secured for SML (A8) through self-serving patronage, sponsorship, and promotion by Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1), Ernest Darko Akore (A2), Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (A4), Isaac Crentsil (A5), and Kwadwo Damoah (A6) based on false and unverified claims.

Also, the contracts were attended by the commission of egregious prohibited acts as mandatory statutory prior approvals by Parliament, and the Procurement Authority were wantonly disregarded by Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1), Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (A4), Isaac Crentsil (A5), and Kwadwo Damoah (A6), who acted with increased emboldened impunity as they freely abused their public offices by using the offices for private benefit.

Further, Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1), Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (A4), Isaac Crentsil (A5), and Kwadwo Damoah (A6) ensured that there was no established financial management system of monitoring and verification to assure that the Republic was obtaining the value for the money it was paying to SML (8), and the channels of payments of public funds to SML (8) were set on automatic mode by Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1), Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (A4), Isaac Crentsil (A5), and Kwadwo Damoah (A6) detached from actual performance and based on false and unverified claims in wilful oppressive injury to the public.

The actions of Kenneth Ofori-Atta (A1), Emmanuel Kofi Nti (A3), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (A4), Isaac Crentsil (A5), and Kwadwo Damoah (A6) created the opportunity for SML (A8) to largely pretend to perform the services under the various contracts – leading to immense financial loss to the Republic of about One Billion Four Hundred and Thirty-Six Million Two Hundred and Forty-Nine Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty-Eight Cedis Fifty-Three Pesewas (GHC1,436,249,828.53).

And had they not been halted by the actions of three petitioners who lodged a complaint with the Office of the Special Prosecutor in December 2023 against the criminal enterprise; corruption and corruption-related investigations conducted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor between 20 December 2023 and 3 October 2025; Government intervention of temporarily suspending performance of the purported services in early January 2024; and a directive by the President of the Republic on 31 October 2025 for the termination of all the public contracts awarded to SML (A8) by the Ministry of Finance and Ghana Revenue Authority – the Accused Persons also intended that a further estimated Two Billion Seven Hundred and Ninety-Nine Million Six Hundred and Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-Four United States Dollars Seventy-One Cents (US$2,799,604,864.71) be paid to SML (A8) for a period of five(5) years without the mandatory statutory prior authorisation by Parliament.

The Accused Persons based their actions on their false claims that SML (A8) possessed technical expertise and capability in revenue assurance, and that the technical expertise and capability of SML (A8) had greatly increased revenue for the Republic; and further that  SML (A8) exclusively possessed the only patented and proven technology systems in the world for value chain transaction audits, external price verification, and measurement audit services in the downstream petroleum, upstream petroleum, and minerals sectors.

Based on the above, the Accused Persons have been charged before the Criminal Division of the High Court”, the post concluded.

The OSP further revealed that the court will fix a date for plea and trial by tomorrow for six suspects, while the OSP works with the AG on the extradition of Ken Ofori-Atta and his Chief Chef de Cabinet, Ernest Darko Akore.

“Africa exporting jobs and importing unemployment” – Sir Sam Jonah bemoans

0

Sir Sam Jonah, a Ghanaian business mogul, has said Africa’s long-standing economic model of shipping out raw materials and importing finished products is virtually exporting jobs and importing unemployment.

According to Sam Jonah, African countries prioritising the sale of raw materials over local industrialisation are effectively exporting jobs and importing unemployment.

He challenged African leaders and the private sector must move beyond primary commodity exports and focus on producing finished goods that meet world needs.

Speaking at the launch of the Africa Trade Summit 2026 in Accra on Tuesday, November 18, Sir Sam Jonah stated, “For more than half a century, we have exported cocoa, gold, timber, oil, and bauxite. Yet the jobs, the technologies, the real value—those have been created elsewhere.

Every time we ship out raw materials and import finished products, we effectively export jobs and import unemployment. And we cannot industrialise if we continue feeding other nations’ factories instead of building our own”.

Sir Sam Jonah further stated that the transformation Africa needs will happen through business: through factories operating consistently, through entrepreneurs solving problems.

He added, “The transformation we seek will not happen in ministry conference rooms. It will not happen in communiqués, nor in reports that gather dust.

It happens—in the real world—through business: through factories operating consistently, through entrepreneurs solving problems, through investors taking long-term bets, through regional supply chains linking producers to markets.

That is why the private sector must be at the very centre of Africa’s industrial and trade transformation. Governments set the stage, yes. But it is the private sector that performs the play”.

In related news, Sir Sam Jonah has said that high-rise buildings in prime areas are being funded through dishonest sources.

According to Sam Jonah, vacant high-rise apartments in Accra’s affluent neighbourhoods—such as Airport Residential, Cantonments, and Labone are being funded with possible illicit financing.

He expressed serious concerns about the country’s booming luxury real estate market.

Sam Jonah highlighted that if high-rise buildings were funded through bank-backed loans, developers would be forced to rent or sell units quickly to service debts.

Speaking in an interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, Sir Sam Jonah explained, “If you walk around my area, Airport Residential, Cantonments or Labone, [look at] all the high-rise buildings going up. Everywhere in the world, developers go to the bank to take loans for those developments”.

“Some of these apartments are all empty. Do you think that if money were collected from banks, banks would not have moved in? What I’m saying is that they are being funded through sources which are not honest. Go around and ask, ‘Why are apartments empty? ’ If you had borrowed money, if you had gone to the bank to borrow money to build, you would ensure that those apartments are fully occupied.”

He added, “Ghanaian banks are not that well, and the balance sheets are not strong enough to give you patient capital to go and develop. The interest rates are just astronomical. You can hardly make it as a developer.”

Interior Minister announces temporary ban on the use of firearms during traditional celebrations

0

Interior Minister Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has announced a six-week temporary ban on the use of firearms during traditional celebrations.

According to the Interior Minister, the six-week temporary ban is in place regardless of whether the weapons are licensed or not.

Mubarak Muntaka asserted that the nationwide exercise forms part of a broader crackdown on gun violence, will run from December 1, 2025, to January 15, 2026.

Speaking to the nation on the initiative to declare a gun amnesty on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Minister of Interior announced, “Temporal ban on the use of firearms in traditional celebration, and this is something that is so important to us.

We’ve engaged all our regional ministers, and we’ve tasked our regional ministers to get all our regional house of chiefs and our opinion leaders to know, whilst this amnesty lasts, it doesn’t really matter whether what you have is licensed or not”.

He continued, “We just want to silence the gun in these six weeks, so during funerals, festivals, all the celebrations, we just don’t want to see any gun there, and we are putting in very vigorous measures. We don’t want to have any confrontation with any traditional authority. Please bear with us and let us be able to streamline these illicit arms that are in our hands.”

He further detailed, We all know that it is gunpowder that is usually used for these celebrations. Today, during these celebrations, you’ll see pump action, pistols and in some instances, we even see AK-47s and G3S being bundled at funerals and other ceremonies.

We are saying that during these six weeks, it doesn’t really matter whether it is gunpowder, whatever it is, please bear with us and observe the ban because we are going to enforce this vigorously,” he said.

Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka further announced a six-week amnesty window for the voluntary surrender of the illicit arms.

“To ensure lasting impact, the following measures will accompany the gun amnesty. A six-week amnesty window for voluntary surrender of the illicit arms, which is from the 1st of December to the 15th of January.

Suspension of issuing new firearms permits for importation and sales during this amnesty, so those who want to venture into the business and want to have a new license will have to wait until after this period”, he added.

Court remands 110 alleged QNET victims for illegally entering Ghana

0

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded 110 alleged QNET victims for illegally entering Ghana.

The group, arrested during a recent security operation, is expected to return to court on December 2 and 3 for further proceedings.

In a viral video shared on X, the 110 alleged QNET victims were seen leaving the Circuit Court after their remand.

Some netizens reacting to the video stated, “A tough situation, but a necessary one. These QNET cases keep exposing how vulnerable people are to shady recruitment schemes.

Hopefully, this pushes for stricter cross-border checks and stronger protection to prevent more people from getting trapped in situations like this”.

“10 victims remanded? This QNET issue has moved from fraud to a full humanitarian crisis. Instead of locking them up, Ghana needs a coordinated regional response that targets the syndicate heads, not the desperate people they lure”, another X user added.

One X user alleged, “I strongly believe some of our leaders enjoy shares in this QNET sc@m…

Cox, I always get pissed off as to why they can’t deploy security services to apprehend them”.

In related news, EOCO has arrested 320 people in Kumasi in what it calls Ghana’s largest anti-human trafficking and QNET fraud operation to date.

The suspects are believed to be part of a network involved in fraud and human trafficking under the guise of QNET business activities.

According to the EOCO statement, initial assessments indicate that 25 of the 320 individuals are potential suspects, while the remaining 295 are deemed to be victims of human trafficking.

EOCO statement read, “The Economic and Organised Crime Office (E0CO) is pleased to announce a major breakthrough in its efforts to combat human trafficking and economic crime in Ghana.

Today, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of EOCO carried out two simultaneous operations at two locations, resulting in the arrest of 320 individuals.

Initial assessments indicate that 25 of the 320 individuals are potential suspects, while the remaining 295 are deemed to be victims of human trafficking, and employment seems penetrated under the guise of ONET”.

It further added, “The operations are a result of meticulous investigations conducted by E0CO over several months, demonstrating our commitment to detecting. Investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crime. The suspects and victims are currently undergoing screening, and the 25 suspects will be subject to further investigations. This operation marks the largest anti-human trafficking operation in the country, following an earlier raid two weeks ago that led to the arrest of over 26 persons in Kasoa.

EOCO is working closely with QNET to clamp down on the misuse of their brand name to traffic and defraud innocent individuals. We commend the collaborative efforts of QNET in this regard and look forward to continued cooperation to bring perpetrators to justice”.

EOCO further assured the public of its continued commitment to fighting economic and organised crime.

“A cat that dreams to be a lion must lose appetite for rats” – Cheddar replies Democracy hub

0

The leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), has replied to the Democracy Hub and its partners following a defamation suit filed against him.

Nana Kwame Bediako, in a post on X, stated, “A cat that dreams to be a lion must lose appetite for rats”.

He further tagged #fixthecountry #occupyjulorbihouse in his post.

Cheddar is an African proverb that suggests that for one to achieve a great and ambitious goal, one must let go of old habits, distractions that are no longer beneficial.

It also suggests that to become a lion,  a cat must stop being interested in its former, lesser prey (rats). This symbolises transformation and growth.

Nana Kwame Bediako, in a video shared on his social media on September 25, 2024, alleged that the #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse and the  #FixTheCountry protest are all machinations of a political party.

Cheddar in the video stated, “Well, let me tell you something: all of these protests and demonstrations that have been organised in this country in the past year or two are organised by one of the duopolies. It is the same politician, and I said it.

I am not going to mention names, but you know that Julorbi and Fix The Country were fixed by one of the existing parties. We cannot do this to ourselves and destroy this country because of a politician’s personal interest or a party’s interest”.

He further added, “Please, Ghana, do your research. The people in front of all these demonstrations, some of them have treason charges.

Ask, find out who is sponsoring them for the mobilisation and all the things that happened. This is not about galamsey; this is about political interest”, he stated.

The Democracy Hub and its members, including lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor, have sued Nana Kwame Bediako over his comments suggesting the September 2024#SayNoGalamsey protest was funded by a major political party.

In their suit filed, the Democracy Hub is requesting the court declare that the allegation by Cheddar is defamatory and also urging the court to order him to apologise and retract his remarks, also to pay damages for ruining their reputation.

Parts of the court document filed at the High Court in Accra read, “The Plaintiffs’ claim is for:

A. A declaration that the statements published and caused to be published by the Defendant on or about 25–26 September 2024 are false, malicious, and defamatory of the Plaintiffs.

B. A declaration that the Defendant’s publications, whether by video, written text, or oral repetition to third parties, have unlawfully injured the reputation, integrity, and public standing of each of the Plaintiffs.

C. An order directing the Defendant to publish a full, clear, and unequivocal retraction and apology, in terms to be approved by the Plaintiffs or this Honourable Court:

a. on the Defendant’s X account;

b. in the same form, prominence, and duration as the impugned videos; and

c. in any additional media outlets as this Honourable Court may deem fit.

D. General damages for defamation, for each Plaintiff, for the injury to reputation, distress, humiliation, loss of public confidence, and the continuing harm caused by the Defendant’s publications”.

“There’s corruption at the OSP” – Martin Kpebu, TV3, invited by OSP to assist with probe

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, has announced that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner and Media General’s TV3 for investigation.

OSP formally ‘slaps’ Ken Ofori-Atta, 7 others with 78 counts

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has formally charged former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and 7 others over the SML Scandal.

The news comes after the OSP had earlier announced that it would press charges against several individuals implicated in the controversial SML revenue assurance contracts.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, he will press charges against the individual implicated in the controversial revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) by the end of November 2025.

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, are expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

The OSP decision comes after months of investigations uncovering alleged acts of corruption, abuse of office, and breaches of procurement laws in the award and execution of the SML-GRA contracts.

Kissi Agyebeng detailed that the evidence gathered points to criminal conduct on the part of some officials.

The OSP is expected to formally announce the specific charges and commence legal proceedings in the coming days.

Kissi Agyebeng also declared the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited) as needless.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, the OSP comprehensive investigation concluded there was “no genuine need” for the contract.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 30, revealed,  “There was no genuine need for contracting SML for the obligations it’s purported to perform”.

He stressed were “secured for SML through self-serving official patronage, sponsorship [and] promotion based on false and unverified claims.”

The OSP’s investigation painted a picture of non-compliance with Ghana’s public financial laws, revealing that the SML contracts were attended by egregious statutory breaches, adding that“mandatory prior approvals were wantonly disregarded by relevant officials who acted with increased and emboldened impunity.”

Meanwhile, Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has dragged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to the Accra High Court.

According to the claim filed at the High Court in Accra, SML is demanding the return of seized equipment and more than $28 million in damages.

SML is accusing the Office of the Special Prosecutor of an unlawful raid on its offices.

In a statement of claim filed, SML recounted that the OSP on June 10, 2025, raided their officers under a purported warrant.

They revealed the OSP seized several items, including servers, laptops, storage devices, and specialised mineral analysis equipment from the search on their premises.

According to the SML, the seized equipment formed the backbone of Ghana’s petroleum and solid minerals monitoring systems.

They argued that the seizure caused a nationwide collapse of its secure data communication network linking 25 petroleum depots.

SML also accused the OSP of breaching forensic and evidence-handling standards, accusing them of uprooting physical hardware instead of conducting a forensic imaging process.

Zenator Rawlings tipped for the Defence Minister position – Reports

0

The information circulating on social media alleged that Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, is emerging as a top contender for the Defence Minister position.

According to reports, Zenator Agyemang-Rawlings is emerging as a strong favourite for the next Defence Minister, with many within the ruling National Democratic Congress and civil society pushing her nomination.

It has been alleged that her supporters argue that she brings integrity, discipline and a fresh strategic outlook, while insiders say discussions are intensifying ahead of an expected ministerial reshuffle.

It will be recalled that Dr Omane Boamah and seven others lost their lives in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

In the aftermath, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson was appointed to act as caretaker for the Defence Ministry.

Furthermore, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister in Charge of Government Communications, has said President John Dramani Mahama will soon announce a Defence Minister as he fully understands his responsibilities.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu highlighted that Mahama’s administration is committed to filling the leadership gap.

Speaking on Newsfeed on Channel One TV on Monday, October 27, Kwakye Ofosu stated, “President Mahama fully understands his responsibilities and whereas he had a close relationship with the late Minister Omane Boamah, the president is pragmatic and professional enough to understand that life has gone on.

“Whatever needs to be done will be done to ensure that the Defence Ministry has the best of leadership and the policies that they implement contribute to the overall development of our country and ensure our safety and security. In due course, that announcement will be made.”

However, Dominic Nitiwul, a former Minister for Defence and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has warned President John Mahama to urgently appoint a substantive Minister for Defence.

According to him, the delay in making a substantive appointment can affect the effective functioning of the ministry.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Friday, October 24, Nitiwul expressed, “The deputy cannot act as the defence minister. It is the reason the president asked the finance minister to act as the interim defence minister. We all know that the finance minister doesn’t have time. I think that it is time for the president to look for and nominate somebody to take over”.

“In the West Africa region, terrorism is becoming endemic. We are enjoying peace, but we are always threatened by insecurities around us, and I think we need somebody who will offer leadership,” Nitiwul stressed.

“That long delay is not helpful,” he cautioned.

Also, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency, has said no serious country will run for 3 months without appointing a fully functional substantive Defence minister to oversee the formulation and implementation of defence policies.

In a post on his X page, the MP underscored the urgent need for a substantive minister to be appointed to fill the vacant position since the tragic passing of Dr Omane Boamah.

“Nearly 3 months without a substantive Defence Minister is a dangerous gamble and reckless potential compromise of our territorial integrity. What a dangerous inaction! At a time when the security of our country is on the path of rapid deterioration – Gbenyiri, Sampa, Bawku, Galamsey etc, with over 23,000 citizens having fled to neighbouring countries as refugees” he posted

He added, “No serious country will run 3 months without a substantive Defence Minister. Is there no suitable person in NDC who can be trusted by President Mahama to fill the worthy shoes of my departed honourable friend, Dr Omane Boamah? What difficulty might the President be facing for which he has been hesitant in appointing a suitable replacement for the late Minister? We demand the immediate appointment of a substantive Minister for Defence to lead the spirited collective action to retool the Ghana Armed Forces and sustain the territorial integrity of our beloved country”.

Former BOST MD Edwin Provencal appears in court following his arrest at KIA

0

Dr Edwin Provencal, the former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), has appeared before the court following his arrest at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The former MD of BOST was spotted in a viral video being escorted by an EOCO official as they walked into the courthouse.

Some supporters of Edwin Provencal were also spotted showing support for the embattled former MD.

Edwin Provencal was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on November 10, 2025, after allegedly attempting to travel abroad despite being on a stop list.

Edwin Provencal is currently in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for further investigations.

The former BOST CEO was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) while attempting to board a flight out of the country.

Mr Provencal is on EOCO a stop list as part of ongoing investigations into activities that occurred during his tenure as the CEO of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST).

Edwin Provencal was apprehended on Monday, November 10.

Reports suggest he was arrested in an attempt to flee while en route to Maputo, Mozambique, without securing the necessary authorisation.

Edwin Provencal’s arrest comes amid an intensified inquiry into BOST’s operations, with the government emphasising accountability and transparency in state-owned enterprises.

As CEO of BOST Provencal oversaw key aspects of Ghana’s fuel supply and storage infrastructure.

EOCO sources further suggested that officials intercepted him to ensure that the ongoing probe was not compromised.

However, EOCO did not provide additional details on the nature of the investigation.

In related news, the Minister for government communications has disclosed that More than 80 former government officials under the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government have been brought in for questioning over various corruption cases.

Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana TV program, the minister asserted that about 280 cases of corruption involving more than 80 past government officials are being investigated.

“So you may not know. But I can tell you, over 80 different people have been interviewed. Some of them have been given bail quietly. Some of them have people standing surety for them. 80? 80. And more. And this is something that continues to happen. And let me tell you, all the 280 cases that Oram presented have been looked into. All of them, bar none.

So that has been done. There are some done naturally because of the actors involved and their own attempts to seek support from their base. It gets to the front burner. Because when they are invited or arrested, they mobilise people to come and make noise, to demand their release. So that one naturally is covered by the media. And then sometimes even the media gets wind of it, and so you blow it up.” he said

“That is standard practice. It is not everything that comes before the Attorney General or prosecutorial bodies that they take to court. In fact, there may yet be instances where there is evidence of wrongdoing. But perhaps the weight of the evidence may be insufficient. Because in criminal cases, you have to meet a certain height ratio that it must be beyond a reasonable doubt. So there are instances where you see that yes, there are questions to be answered. The questions have not been satisfactorily answered. But if you take it to court, you may not get the evidence that is required to secure a conviction. So you leave it at that until a time when you get additional evidence,” he added.

“But in many instances, there is hardcore, irrefutable evidence. But this Attorney General is a well-trained, well-heeled, experienced legal practitioner. He himself has represented many people in criminal cases. So he is fully aware of the threshold that must be met and the nuances that go into securing a conviction. So because of that, he is doing a thorough job. He is going through the files, the dockets, with a fine comb.”

“I envision a judicial system where justice is neither delayed nor denied” – CJ Baffoe-Bonnie

0

Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has revealed his plans for Ghana’s justice system.

According to Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, he envisions a judicial system where justice is neither delayed nor denied.

Speaking at his swearing-in as Chief Justice on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Jubilee House in Accra, Baffoe-Bonnie stated, “I give my solemn word that I will uphold the rule of law, respect the separation of powers, and protect the Constitution”.

“I will respect the independence of every judge and ensure that the judiciary remains free from improper influence. I will also insist on accountability because independence without responsibility risks entitlement and erosion of public trust.

Our judiciary must be independent, impartial, and accessible. It must not serve the powerful or the connected at the expense of the weak and vulnerable. It must resist any incursions on its freedoms but also embrace accountability, transparency, and continuous reform,” he said.

He added, “Every litigant who enters a courtroom brings not only a case but also hope that justice will be done. I accept the responsibility of preserving that hope,”

“The future of the bar is the future of the bench. Working with the General Legal Council, the Ghana School of Law, and law faculties, we shall pursue a model that ensures opportunity without compromising quality”.

“My vision for the judiciary is that of a service-oriented institution, with courts that are efficient, transparent, and respectful of all persons; judges and staff who uphold high ethical standards, treat litigants with dignity, and apply the law without fear or favour. A judiciary that works not for political ends but for the cause of justice,” he noted.

President Mahama, on Monday, November 17, 2025, officially swore in Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Chief Justice of Ghana.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie fully assumed the responsibility as Chief Justice, tasked with leading Ghana’s judiciary and preserving the integrity of the judicial system.

Mahama, during the swearing-in ceremony, reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the independence of Ghana’s judiciary.

He stated, “The strength of our democracy depends on the delicate yet essential balance of powers among the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary. Today as President, I pledge my unwavering commitment to the independence of the judiciary”.

Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the most senior Supreme Court judge, was appointed by President Mahama to act as Chief Justice during the investigation process of sacked CJ Torkornoo.

He is now confirmed as the substantive head of the judiciary after he was nominated by John Mahama.

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie was appointed to the Supreme Court in June 2008 by then-President John Agyekum Kufuor and is among the most senior justices of the apex court.

His appointment follows President John Mahama sacking the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect after he received a first report from the five-member committee he constituted to investigate three petitions brought against the Chief Justice.

“Whatever you are doing, continue, so that the cedi is respected” – Mahama to BoG, Ato Forson

0

President John Dramani Mahama has told managers of Ghana’s currency to continue whatever they are doing, as the cedi regains respect both locally and internationally.

According to John Mahama, Ghanaians are grateful to the Bank of Ghana and the Finance Ministry for their management of the cedi.

Mahama made this known at the Cedi@60 commemoration by the Bank of Ghana in Accra, themed “Sovereignty, Stability, and Economic Resilience”.

Speaking at the event, John Mahama stated, “I just want to say that the governor and all your team at the BoG, the Ministry of Finance, Ghanaians are grateful to you for the management of our currency”.

“I think that a lot of respect has returned to our currency. And it’s my hope that you will keep whatever you are doing to make sure that we don’t have excess liquidity, all those words you people have; open market operations, whatever, those your technical jargons are,” President Mahama noted.

He further urged the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry to continue their work in stabilising the cedi, “Whatever you are doing, continue doing so, so that the cedi is respected,” he said.

Mahama further detailed that the cedi is anchored on monetary policy, shaped expectations and absorbed domestic, regional, and global shocks.

He added, “Not nearly as a unit of account or a medium of exchange, but as a declaration of independence, our identity, and the capacity of our state,”

“The world is witnessing the emergence of a hybrid monetary ecosystem…Trust in institutions has become as crucial as technical capacity”

Furthermore, Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has said protecting the Cedi is a shared duty.

Dr Johnson Asiama at the Currency Anniversary added, “It is my hope that every Ghanaian—from the child learning to count, to the trader serving her community, to the entrepreneur building something new—can continue to hold the Cedi with unwavering confidence and pride.”

“May we always remember that protecting the Cedi is not the task of any one institution. It is a shared endeavour—an endeavour rooted in our belief in Ghana’s future”, he added.

He further called for a forward-looking approach to strengthen public trust in the Cedi.

The BoG boss added, “Young Ghanaians are growing up in a world where value is moved instantly, where digital interaction is second nature, and where expectations of transparency and accountability continue to rise”.

“Part of our responsibility as policymakers, technicians, and leaders is to ensure that the Cedi—however it is accessed—continues to serve these aspirations,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Cedi@60 celebration marks six decades since Ghana introduced its national currency.

The cedi replaced the Ghanaian Pound in 1965, a historic milestone representing Ghana’s enduring pursuit of economic sovereignty and stability.

Meanwhile, the Cedi@60 celebration marks six decades since Ghana introduced its national currency.

The cedi replaced the Ghanaian Pound in 1965, a historic milestone representing Ghana’s enduring pursuit of economic sovereignty and stability.

“Your ticket is not a visa” – US Secretary warns football fans ahead 2026 World Cup

0

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reminded football fans ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament in the U.S that their match-day ticket are not visas.

According to Marco Rubio, match day tickets do not guarantee football fans admission into the U.S.

He revealed that the US will prioritise visa interviews for ticket-holding fans.

Rubio noted that fans who secure priority status could get an interview date within six to eight weeks, instead of waiting many months.

The last two World Cups in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022) saw a match ticket automatically generate a Fan ID used like a visa; the US, however, will not adopt the same system.

Speaking at the White House on Monday, Marco Rubio stated, “Your ticket is not a visa; it doesn’t guarantee admission to the US,” Rubio said. “We’re going to do the same vetting as anybody else would get. The only difference here is we’re moving them up in the queue.”

He made this known during the announcement of the new FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System (PASS).

President Donald Trump, during the event, stated, “FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System (PASS) will allow World Cup ticket-holders with long wait times to opt with FIFA for a prioritised interview”.

Also, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who joined Trump and Rubio during the announcement, stated, “With this FIFA Pass, we can make sure that those who buy a ticket, who are legitimate football fans or soccer fans, they can come and attend the World Cup in the best conditions, starting from getting their visa”.

Gianni Infantino revealed he estimates about 10 million visitors could travel to the US for the global event.

In related news,  Sports Minister Kofi Adams had earlier stated that the government would not support using government funds to send supporters to the World Cup.

The Sports Minister confirmed that the Government of Ghana will not allocate funds to transport supporters to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to Kofi Adams, if supporters want to go to the World Cup, they have to find their own resources, and the government could help facilitate their travel documents.

Kofi Adams cited the country’s economic challenges and the need to prioritise investment in local sports infrastructure.

He argued that while government funding is off the table, the Sport Minister encouraged individuals and corporate organisations to assist fans with travel arrangements.

Speaking on Peace FM Kokrokoo, Kofi Adams stated, “So far government has not given that indication that supporters will be taken to the World Cup. Well, I don’t think that it is something I will recommend”.

“We need money to build a Sports facility in Ghana, then we are going to spend money to transport supporters all the way to America in where that money could have been used to build multipurpose stadiums in some of the communities”.

He added, “If you want to go, find your own resources, and we can facilitate your travel documents, then you go, or we should mobilise from the cooperate, both private and public and give support to the fans”.

Also, the Government of Ghana, in the 2026 budget, has allocated GH₵150 million to the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson stated, “The government’s sustained investment in sports yielded impressive results, with the Black Stars qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup”.

“An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated for the Black Stars to participate in the World Cup,” he added.

“You are a wizard for not supporting Ken Agyapong” – NPP delegate tells Ntim Fordjour

0

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegate has descended on the member of parliament for Assin South, Rev Ntim Fordjour, over his non-support for flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

According to the NPP delegate, Rev Ntim Fordjour must be a wizard or a jealous person not to support Kennedy Agyapong whom he shares the same Christian faith and constituency border.

Speaking in a viral video, the NPP delegate stated, “The Assin South, I usually do not want to comment about him, that man does not understand God, or he is wicked or jealous person, where honourable has got to he must be jealous of him.

That tie he has been wearing around his neck, he has to take it off because he is not a Christian. I don’t see him as a Christian; in everything, there is politics in it. Ghana is a Christian country. If you say you are a man of God and your fellow Christian and one in whom you share constituency borders is contesting you are against him are you not a wizard?

“I am talking about Ntim Fordjour. I don’t see him as a Christian or a pastor. As Christians, we must be united, and Ghana is a Christian country; moreover, you are a pastor in Assin South, and your own brother, who is a Christian, is contesting you are rather than supporting a muslim, if it is not wizardry, it is jealousy”, the NPP delegate boldly added.

Meanwhile, Rev John Ntim Fordjour has said God has anointed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the promised land in 2028.

According to Rev Ntim Fordjour, God can take anyone and anoint them, be it a Christian or a Muslim.

He claimed that God’s anointing is on Dr Bawumia to lead Ghana into prosperity.

Speaking at Mankessim during Dr Bawumia’s Central Region tour on Tuesday, September 30, Rev Fordjour stated, “I’m a Christian, I’m a pastor, and the Bible I read tells me that God is no respecter of persons. God can take anyone and anoint them, and it doesn’t matter whether the person is a Christian or a Muslim. He can use them to rule over His country and make His people prosper.

“The person I have seen such an anointing on is Dr Bawumia. The one God has anointed to lead us to the promised land in 2028 is Dr Bawumia,” he declared.

Rev Ntim further highlighted that no NDC presidential candidate can be compared to Dr Bawumia.

“My brothers and sisters, my elders, I beg of you – just take a look at all the leaders in the NPP, and also at those who have announced their intention to lead the NDC, and compare. Tell me, who among them, if we put them up against Dr Bawumia, can stand him? Who? There’s nobody”.

“If we change Dr Bawumia, we will miss the penalty”, Rev Ntim Fordjour added.

A video has surfaced of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, kicking off his campaign in Awutu Senya East with spirit-filled worship with NPP delegates.

Dr Bawumia, in the viral video, was shown on the pulpit of a church as he led the NPP delegates during the gospel worship.

Some NPP delegates were also captured, mostly women dancing around Bawumia on the pulpit with others in the crowd.

In related news, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made a bold pledge to New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates that if elected president of Ghana, he will turn the country into abroad “Abrokyire”.

According to Dr Bawumia, he has the track record and ideas needed to transform Ghana.

Speaking to some NPP delegates, the NPP flagbearer hopeful detailed some of his major achievements as Vice President.

Dr Bawumia cited the Ghana Card system when he worked closely with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to ensure the mass issuance of the card.

He also pointed out the mobile money transfers, arguing that they could not be made across networks and could not be linked to bank accounts.

Dr Bawumia stated, “We issued the Ghana Card, and today Ghana is one of the few countries in the world with this type of digital national ID”.

“When we came, the MoMo agents were 107,000. Now they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs for MoMo agents,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians to judge him by the results he has delivered as Vice President.

“You have seen what I can do as Vice President without the power. If you make me president with the power, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ to Ghana here,” he declared.

Also, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are afraid of him ahead of the 2028 elections.

According to Dr Bawumia, the NDC knows that when he wins the NPP’s flagbearership race, he will win the 2028 elections.

He further claimed the NDC are campaigning for some of his opponents due to their fear of him winning the 2028 elections.

Dr Bawumia is quoted by EDHUB to have stated, “The NDC doesn’t want me to win the NPP flagbearership; that’s why they’re campaigning for some of my opponents. They know that if I win the flagbearership race, I will win the 2028 elections”.

“37 Hospital is taking the full bill of anybody that comes there with any form of accident related to the stampede, and for that matter, the government,” Captain Arhin assured.

Also, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has said all persons injured at the El-Wak Stadium stampede will receive a special recruitment package.

According to GAF, the November 12 stampede victims will receive free medical care at the 37 hospital until they are fully recovered and also receive a special recruitment package after recovery.

GAF, in a press statement on Monday, November 17, 2025, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), Acting Director General of Public Relations, also announced the resumption of its recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region.

According to GAF, its recruitment exercise resumes beginning Thursday, November 20, 2025.

NAIMOS storms Obuasi, disrupting galamsey activities

0

The National Anti-illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) on Monday, November 17, 2025, stormed a galamsey site in Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region.

NAIMOS, acting on intelligence, raided galamsey sites at Anyankyirem, a mining concession belonging to Ashanti Gold Corporation

Illegal miners from Amansie took over the Ashanti Gold Corporation’s legally acquired mining concession, forcing the company to abandon the site.

The operation also led to NAIMOS securing certain strategic areas around the Obuasi Airport.

During the raids, makeshift structures and other tools used for illegal mining were also destroyed, and several mining equipment, including motorbikes, vehicles and water pumps, were seized.

Several galamseyers, following the raid, bolted, but one suspect was arrested and is in custody, assisting with investigations and possible prosecution.

In related news, Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West and Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the GH₵150 million allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

His remarks come after Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has revealed that an amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in the 2026 fiscal year to fight galamsey.

Democracy Hub files defamation suit against Nana Kwame Bediako

0

Democracy Hub and its partners have filed a defamation suit against the leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar).

The Democracy Hub and its members, including lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor, have sued Nana Kwame Bediako over his comments suggesting the September 2024#SayNoGalamsey protest was funded by a major political party.

C. An order directing the Defendant to publish a full, clear, and unequivocal retraction and apology, in terms to be approved by the Plaintiffs or this Honourable Court:

a. on the Defendant’s X account;

b. in the same form, prominence, and duration as the impugned videos; and

c. in any additional media outlets as this Honourable Court may deem fit.

D. General damages for defamation, for each Plaintiff, for the injury to reputation, distress, humiliation, loss of public confidence, and the continuing harm caused by the Defendant’s publications”.

Some netizens reacting to the Democracy Hub suit stated, “Now that the fight against galamsey is effective.. You want to suit him, since last year and this year, all you didn’t think of any defamation cos the sponsorship party was failing the fight. Ah, wait oo the same demonstration boys chop money that was supposed to be shared among the participants, you guys are not serious”.

“Senselessly Senseless. Has galamsey ended? Why not still do the demonstration? You menes figa we be small boys. That was factually true. This no go go anywhere masa”, one more X user added.

An X user also added, “Mmmboaaa, Now your party is in power, so you don’t see the need for demonstration against. Has galamsey stopped?”

One more X user added, “Funny. Cheddar is not too far from wrong. In opposition, Oliver’s lawyer was Srem Sai, now he’s deputy AG, so one can presume that what Cheddar is saying is true cos Srem supported Oliver with resources and time. He defended Oliver anytime at a point, Ray Atuguba defended Oliver”.

“Interesting times ahead. I like how people have been testing Ghana’s justice system lately. Mr Bediako can afford some of the best attorneys in the country to face some of the best young attorneys. Let’s see how this plays out in court”, another Ghanaian added.

Landlords are also urged to conduct due diligence when renting out their properties, especially to foreign nationals. Individuals involved in such illegal activities are strongly warned to desist, as the Office remains fully committed to pursuing and apprehending offenders”.

Former Black Stars and Inter Milan player Sulley Ali Muntari has reportedly been released after settling his $300,000 debt.

In a post by Ghana Chronicles read, “Former Ghana international Sulley Muntari, earlier reported to be linked to a US$300,000 loan dispute during his detention in Dubai, has now been released after settling the outstanding debt”.

Sully Muntari was reportedly detained in Dubai over $300,000 debt in Dubai.

According to sources, the celebrated footballer is allegedly being held over a financial dispute involving a US$300,000 loan he reportedly obtained from an individual, with a promise to repay it with substantial interest.

Muntari is said to have defaulted on the repayment, leading to his detention in the Emirates for some months now.

Reports further indicate that the ex-Inter Milan, AC Milan and Portsmouth star has been facing financial difficulties in recent years.

Unconfirmed information suggests that several of his assets, particularly landed properties in East Legon – Accra, acquired during his playing days, have been sold or are currently for sale”.

The post added, “A luxurious apartment property inside Villaggio at Dzorwulu over the Tetteh Quashie overpass in Accra, where he resided, The Herald heard, was rented.

The whereabouts of his wife, Menaye Donkor, a Ghanaian businesswoman, entrepreneur, and former Miss Universe Ghana, and their two children are unknown”.

Sully Muntari, who played for several top European clubs, including AC Milan, Portsmouth, and Inter Milan, also had a short stint with Accra Hearts of Oak.

He was also part of the iconic Inter Milan team led by Jose Mourinho that won the treble in 2010.

Sully Muntari was also a member of the legendary Black Stars team that went all the way to the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

However, Samuel Anim Addo, the Manager and representative of former Black Stars Striker Asamoah Gyan, had earlier dismissed reports suggesting former Black Stars Midfielder Sulley Muntari was arrested in Dubai.

In an official statement shared on his verified X account, Anim Addo revealed Sulley Muntari is safe and currently residing in Dubai.

He wrote, “Sulley Muntari is safe and currently residing in Dubai, where he is focused on his personal affairs and business activities.

We urge the public to disregard the false reports circulating in the media. The outlets responsible for these publications are hereby warned to retract their statements and issue an apology. Failure to do so will result in legal action by Sulley Lawyers”.

“GH₵150 million for the NAIMOS is too small” – NDC MP tells Ato Forson

0

Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West and Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the GH₵150 million allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The NDC MP is quoted by TV3 as having said, “GH¢150 million for NAIMOS, that is just in the budget. And I’m quite sure that it is too small. Looking at the volume of what they have to do, and their mandate, I’m sure in the media budget review, the Minister of Finance will do something about it”.

“Raise the strength to 1,000, give them full retooling, provide enough resources, and define a clear mandate with timelines. Soldiers can be trained for war and never see battle, but the galamsey menace is destroying our country. If we want the armed forces to succeed in enforcement, we must give them the tools, resources, and a defined timeline,” he stated.

In related news, ten heavily armed men impersonating the anti-galamsey taskforce at the Nyankamam-Armori Forest have been arrested by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The heavily armed men were arrested by NAIMOS at the Nyankamam-Armori Forest in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

The suspects were said to be operating with impunity, extorting money from illegal miners.

NAIMOS, in a dawn operation, led to the arrest of the group. The suspects were found with weapons and talismans.

They have since been handed to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and prosecution.

“MMDCEs’ salaries increased from GHS5,000 to GHS35,000” – Adom TV’s Omanhene

0

Omanhene Kwabena Asante, host of Adom TV’s Badwam, has alleged that the salaries of MMDCEs have been increased by the John Mahama-led government.

According to Omanhene, the salaries of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have been increased from GHS5,000 to GHS35,000.

Speaking on Adom TV Dwaso Nsem, Omanhene stated, “Abena listened, in the past when you were an MMDCE, you were taking 5000 today as MMDCE, do you know how much they are taking? They are taking GHS35,000. Just recently, they were taking 5000 cedis today, 35,000 cedis”.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “GHC 5,000 monthly, which may have compromised their efforts to combat illegal mining over the past eight years, as they may have had close ties with miners, resulting in the destruction of our water bodies. Now, with the new monthly stipend of GHC 35,000, that’s a good motivation”.

“The President does not fix the salaries of MMDCEs. They are classified under Article 71 office holders, and the current MMDCEs are earning the same salaries as those who came before them. Any claim to the contrary is false and misleading”, another netizen added.

“Why MMCE’/DCE’s dey chop salary pass MP’s ? Cutting off government expenditure mpo nie? Eii Akua Ghana”, another X user added.

“Masa no MMDC/DCE will take 5000. Even the current assembly members’ allowance pass it

That amount is for our public servants; Teachers are Nurses. When can a teacher or Nurse buy a car or build a house from his/her salary? The system is designed to impoverish the ordinary workers”, another netizen added.

“This guy ankasa, he get agenda… Omanhene or whatever. He that is propagating the agenda, will GHC5000 a month be enough for him to take care of his family??”, another X user added.

Meanwhile, some former MMDCEs whose appointments were revoked in January 2025 have appealed to the government to expedite the payment of their outstanding salary arrears and End-of-Service Benefits (ESB).

“We understand that administrative processes take time, but many of us are going through serious challenges. Some cannot afford their medical bills, and others are struggling to take care of their families. We only appeal that the payments are made soon,” one of them said.

“We have lost some of our colleagues who could not survive the stress and health complications brought on by financial hardship. Several others are bedridden and relying on family and friends for support,” another former MMDCE said with emotion.

“We have served diligently in various parts of the country. All we ask is that the government fast-tracks the process to ease the burden on us and our dependents. We know the President is compassionate and will act,” one of them expressed hopefully.

“Go and read my record, I never raised my voice on the floor” – Speaker Bagbin to Afenyo-Markin

0

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has recounted his time as Minority Leader and challenging claims that he behaved the same way as the current Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin.

According to Speaker Bagbin, the actions taken by Afenyo-Markin were not influenced by him, as he did not engage in the same behaviour that the Minority Leader is currently displaying.

He asserted that Afenyo-Markin claims he took inspiration from him, but he never raised his voice, arguing that his records are there for people to read.

He, however, admitted that he lost his composure on only one occasion when Speaker Peter Ala Adjetey made a personal attack against him.

Speaking in a video shared on X, Alban Bagbin stated, “What the Minority Leader is doing now is not what I did. He has referred to you people several times, saying he took inspiration from my record. Please go and read my record. I never raised my voice or tried to show grandeur on the floor. No!” he said in a video shared by TV3 on Monday, November 17, 2025.

“I studied the ecology, the political environment. I tested the pulse of the people, and you act in line with that. I didn’t do what you are doing. Anybody can go and read. Only on one occasion, when the Rt. Hon. Speaker Peter Adjetey came and read a statement attacking me personally, did I rise to give my side of the story, and he refused to allow me.

“My very good friend Papa Ankoma, who was the Majority Leader then, stood up and said that once he had mentioned me specifically, the standing orders gave me the right of reply. But the Speaker shouted at him, ordered him to sit down, and prevented me from responding,” he recounted.

“That day, I took my books and headed to my office. My colleagues did not follow me; they continued with their political business. It was in my office that a few cameras, led by GTV, came to ask why I had left. I explained that if this was how the Speaker intended to conduct the House, I would respond in kind. That caught the attention of the whole nation,” he said.

He concluded that Afenyo-Markin’s claims of equating his conduct with that of the current Minority Leader are unfounded.

“That is the only instance. Later, when I met him [Adjetey] and explained that he had accused me without basis, they pleaded with me to tone down my response, which made no sense. I am saying this because many people have repeatedly claimed that I behaved the same way when I was Minority Leader. If I had, we could have turned things around within two years, and we almost won the 2004 elections”, he added.

Alban Bagbin was then Minority Leader under the J.A. Kufuor-led government.

Mother demands justice as newborn baby is injured during a cesarean section

0

A mother is demanding justice after her newborn baby sustained a deep cut near the ear during a caesarean.

According to reports, the incident happened at the Jasikan District Hospital.

In a post shared on X by GHOne TV, on Monday, November 17, 2025, read, “A mother in the Oti Region is seeking justice after her newborn allegedly suffered a deep cut near the ear during a cesarean at Jasikan District Hospital.

The family says they were not informed of the injury before being discharged.

The baby was transferred to another hospital for treatment, and the family is demanding answers from the hospital and health authorities. No statement has been issued by the facility”.

Meanwhile, the Jasikan District Hospital has yet to release a statement regarding the news.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “You know they sign a consent form before the procedure. They’re using knives and scissors to cut open the womb. It can happen to the Best of surgeons. Yes the hospital was in the wrong for not informing the parent. The suing should be geared towards that, to foster communication”.

“Some of you are saying ‘complications’ occur only because it’s not your family member who’s the victim.

What stops a health professional or facility from being truthful to their patient about what happened during a surgical procedure and offering empathetic care?

Your attempts to excuse potential medical negligence and malpractice in this country are disgusting”, another netizen added.

One more X user added, “Accountability is what we fear in this country. And that’s why we are never moving forward. If mistakes are made, let’s hold people accountable. Then we learn, then we grow. In other news, a former prime minister is sentenced to death”

Additionally, another netizen added, “My sister’s own was worse, her cheeks were cut open and they had the courage to stick a newborn baby’s cheek. She still has the scars wide on her face, she is 21 now”.

In related news, A three-day-old baby has been dumped along the Kasoa Okrudu River in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

Reports suggest the mother is the alleged perpetrator of the shocking act.

According to eyewitnesses reported that animals had begun consuming the baby’s body when it was discovered.

The reasons for the act remain unknown, though the mother is alleged to be involved.

One male resident, “I was shocked when I saw this. I had to ask some of the elderly women in the area, who confirmed that the baby was not more than three days old. The baby is dead.”

Another witness stated, “The head is decomposing. The baby is dead. It is unfortunate. I don’t understand why someone would abandon the baby here.”

Also, Awutu Senya East Municipal NADMO Director confirmed the incident, stating that police are working to apprehend the suspect, while the baby’s body has been taken to the Police Hospital mortuary for investigations.

“We are working in collaboration with the Police to apprehend the one behind the incident. It occurred at the Kasoa Timber Market”.

“We cannot confirm if the baby was already dead before it was dumped at the scene or if it died after being dumped here.”

Watch as Ghana Prisons Officers pay an educational visit to Ejisu Technical School

0

Some officers of the Ghana Prisons Service have paid an educational visit to the Ejisu Senior High Technical School to share insights about prison life and the need for discipline among young persons.

The Prison Officers highlighted the harsh reality of life behind bars for the young student population and urged them to make informed life choices.

The Officers also made the student demonstrate how the prisoners sleep in their prison cells.

Speaking to the students, the officer stated, “When the prisoners are sleeping, they sleep without their dress due to the heat. About 19 of them sleep like this until it is 6 in the morning.

In Prison, even if you will drink water, there is time for that, if you will bathe, there is time for that, and you don’t eat the food you want”.

Some netizens reacting to the viral video stated, “Why don’t we replace religious and moral education with teachings like this. It should begin in basic schools. Because as rational beings we weigh the consequences of acts before we take them, thus if they’re aware these will be conditions when they misbehave, they might be guarded”.

“This is a very good initiative. It will paint a picture of how prison life is in Ghana, which is likely to deter people from going into crime”, another netizen added.

One more X user added, “This is commendable. Educating the younger generation about the consequences of crime is one of the best ways to curb it in the future”.

In related prison news, there were emotional scenes at the Kumasi Central Prison as inmates granted a presidential amnesty by John Dramani Mahama reunited with their families.

In the viral short video, the Kumasi Central Prison inmates granted amnesty were captured visibly emotional as they waited patiently to be reunited with their families.

The former inmates were later met at the gate of the Kumasi Central Prison by their families, embracing them and sharing passionate moments.

It will be recalled that President John Mahama, on August 18, 2025, granted amnesty to 998 prisoners across the country.

The presidential amnesty follows a recommendation of the Prisons Service Council, in consultation with the Council of State, and in accordance with Article 72(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The decision was announced in a statement by the Presidency, issued and signed by the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

It revealed a total of 1,014 inmates were recommended for amnesty, out of which 998 were approved.

The Presidential amnesty is a constitutional provision that allows the President to pardon prisoners or reduce their sentences on the recommendations from the Prisons Service Council and the Council of State.

The Presidential amnesty is used as a measure to decongest prisons, also to address humanitarian concerns, and ensure justice is tempered with mercy.

It is particularly for defenceless groups such as the elderly, the sick, and nursing mothers.

“When we are united, no evil can touch any of us” – Afenyo-Markin tells NPP

0

The minority leader in parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has told his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) members that when they are united, no evil can touch them.

It will be recalled, Abronye was arrested on Monday, September 8, by the Ghana Police Service, based on what the police described as “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”

The Accra Circuit Court had also remanded Abronye into police custody for one week.

Before his arrest, he had sought political asylum and security protection over threats on his life by government operatives and IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno and his boys.

Afenyo-Markin, at the time, quizzed the Ghana Police Service’s decision to keep NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, in the custody of the NIB for a misdemeanour.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the NIB is not interrogating Abronye, nor are they investigating him.

He questioned why the Police would send Abronye, who is being investigated on a matter which is a misdemeanour, into NIB custody.

Speaking to the media at the Accra Circuit Court on September 12, Afenyo-Markin stated, “The police invited him on Monday, September 8. He responded to the invitation, went with his lawyers, and submitted himself to interrogations. Within an hour of interrogations, he was whisked into NIB custody”.

“Why would the police, investigating a matter and having their own cells, decide to send a citizen who is being investigated on a matter which is a misdemeanour into NIB custody?” he questioned

He further explained, “Our checks at the NIB confirm that the NIB is not interrogating Abronye. Neither are they investigating him. According to the NIB, they are only the recipient of the man Abronye. In other words, the police sent him there so that they could keep him. That is why they received him. But they are not the ones who are investigating”.

“So the question is, why would the Ghana Police Service claim to be investigating a person and rather decide to send him to NIB cells? Is it to punish him or what?”

The minority leader added, “They kept him the whole of the night and on Tuesday morning, being the 9th, he was brought to court

“When they brought him to court, the police insisted that they still needed him for further investigation; therefore, they wanted him to be remanded into lawful custody. Of course, the judge upheld the application and remanded Abronye to be brought to court today.

Abronye was later granted bail of the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety, without justification.
