“I cringed” – Manasseh Azure reacts to Pusiga MP’s ‘today is ordained for them to die’ remarks on El-Wak tragedy

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, has reacted to comments made by Laadi Ayii Ayamba, the Member of Parliament for Pusiga, who has claimed the El-Wak tragedy during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise was beyond human control.

According to the Pusiga MP, yesterday was the day the Almighty Allah had ordained for them to die.

Speaking on the Floor of Parliament, Laadi Ayii Ayamba said, “There is nothing that happens that doesn’t happen at the right time. This is what the Almighty Allah has ordained for them. Today is their day. No matter how, no matter what, no matter who was there, as what.”

She added, “Even if we brought all the presidents of the world to sit there as ministers or whatsoever, once today is ordained for them to die, they will. And this is what has happened. Unless you don’t believe in the oneness of God, unless you don’t believe in the oneness of the Almighty Allah, it is not anybody. It is not anybody.”

Ayamba further clarified, “Who wanted them to die? There is no single officer there who wanted even one single soul to pass.”

Reacting to the MP’s remarks, Manasseh Azure revealed he cringed throughout her submission.

In a post on X, he wrote, “This  MP just said in parliament that it was the will of God that the young people die at the recruitment exercise and that nothing could have been done to save them”.

“I cringed throughout her submission; some of her words were cruder than I’ve reported”, he added.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed six people have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

Reports suggest the chaos occurred around 6:20 a.m. when applicants breached security protocols.

According to GAF, 28 people were taken to the 37 Military Hospital.

They further revealed that six people have died, with five in the ICU and another 12 in critical condition.

The information gathered suggests the six died as a result of a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

According to reports, thousands of young Ghanaians thronged the El-Wak stadium in a desperate bid to secure enlistment into the Ghana military.

The chaos occurred following the large crowd jostling at the entry points, resulting in a stampede that led to multiple injuries and fatalities.

The information gathered suggests the bodies of the six deceased have been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital morgue.

Several other potential military recruits are receiving emergency treatment at the facility’s casualty ward.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed the passing of six young women during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise at El-Wak.

Mahama described the incident as a heartbreaking loss for the entire nation.

Speaking to the gathering at the launch of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Poultry Initiative in Kumasi on Wednesday, November 12, Mahama stated, “a heartbreaking loss for the entire nation. The tragic news is that I have been informed by the military that six young women, who simply sought an opportunity to serve their nation, lost their lives in this heartbreaking incident. We are praying for the 12 others who remain in critical condition”.

Former NSA boss Osei Assibey’s bail reduced to GHc623m

0

The High Court has reduced Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority’s bail condition from GHc800 million to GHc623 million.

The High Court bail variation, however, maintained all other bail conditions.

This follows Osei Assibey’s lawyers arguing in court that the original bail of GHc800 million was impossible to meet by their client.

According to his lawyers, the initial bail would require providing dozens of high-value properties in Accra and Kumasi, which makes it unrealistic.

Osei Assibey’s lawyers also noted that the main purpose of bail was preventing flight risk, which has been achieved by their client surrendering his passports and also being placed on a stop list.

Dufie Prempeh, representing the Attorney General’s office, opposed the variation, arguing that the original conditions were reasonable.

The court, in its ruling, accepted that a reduced bail of 623 million cedis is more realistic, but maintained all other conditions of his sureties and property pledges.

Meanwhile, the Former Director-General of the National Service Authority is accused of authorising payments to over 60,000 non-existent national service personnel and misappropriating public funds.

The former NSS boss is facing multiple counts under sections “179A(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 1(2)(c) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044)”.

Prosecutors allege that the former NSA boss “willfully caused financial loss of GH¢500,861,744.02 to the Republic by authorising the payment of allowances to over 60,000 “ghost” service personnel between August 2021 and February 2025. Also facing six counts of stealing.

The theft includes, “GH¢3.6 million on August 22, 2023, GH¢516,000 each on September 11, October 26, and November 23, 2023, GH¢1.03 million on December 18, 2023, GH¢2.06 million on May 14, 2024.

He has also been accused of transferring GH¢8.26 into his personal account.

The charge sheet also cites “unauthorised withdrawals from the Kumawu Farm Project account (No. 1018631542212), amounting to GH¢74 million”.

Meanwhile, Blakk Rasta, a Radio and Television personality, has dropped a bombshell about the former  Deputy Executive Director of the NSA, Gifty Oware-Mensah.

According to Blakk Rasta, Gifty Oware-Mensah ran to the Attorney General, kneeling on her feet and begging the AG to have mercy on her and vowed to repay all the stolen money.

Blakk Rasta claimed that the former deputy NSA boss also told the Attorney General she is ready to pay for all she and her husband stole and also ‘sing like a bird’ against his former boss, Osei Assibey Antwi.

The controversial musician and presenter Blakk Rasta shared this on his show The Black Pot.

Speaking on his show, the Black Pot, Blakk Rasta alleged, “Gifty Oware was hot, you know what she did, and this is exclusive, she ran all the way to the Attorney General, knelt on the ground, and begged the Attorney General and said ‘ I am wrong, I am sorry for whatever I did, I don’t want to go to jail, me and my husband, are going to pay for what ever money we have stolen’”.

Blakk Rasta added, “After paying the money, I am ready to tell the whole story about my boss Osei Assibey Antwi, everything he has stolen, everything we did together to steal the Ghaanain people’s money. That was the plea deal”.

The High Court today, November 13, 2025, will hear the motion filed by the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) seeking the release of his passport.

Dr Hamid contends that the release of his passport is necessary to enable him to travel to Canada to attend a political engagement. The Republic, however, has opposed the application. The accused person was ordered by the Court to surrender his passport as part of his bail conditions. He remains on the OSP’s stop list”.

The OSP in an update post on X stated, “The court is also expected to hear a motion filed by Mustapha Hamid seeking the release of his passport, which was seized by the court as part of his bail conditions, to enable him to attend a political event in Canada. “The Criminal High Court will today take the pleas of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Mustapha Hamid, and nine (9) others in connection with a GH¢291 million grand extortion and money laundering scheme uncovered at the Authority.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has also frozen assets exceeding GH¢100 million and US$100,000, including real estate holdings, lands, fuel stations, and fuel tankers, among others. Additional assets are still being traced”, the OSP statement added.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed it has amended the charges against former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others.

According to the OSP statement, the accused persons in the Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & 9 Others case has been increased from 25 to 54 following the discovery of new evidence from ongoing investigations.

The accused are alleged to have extorted hundreds of millions of cedis and foreign currency from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies under the guise of official duties, and subsequently laundered the proceeds through property acquisitions and business entities to conceal their illicit origins”.

The accused persons are Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, Kwaku Aboagye Acquaah, Propnest Limited, Kel Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) statement also disclosed assets seized and frozen pending trial, “Vehicles, including tanker trucks, fuel stations, houses, apartments, and parcels of land valued at over GHc100 million”.

“My blood boils when I see headlines like this” – Chadder on EL-Wak tragedy

0

Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, a businessman and political leader, has reacted to the tragic deaths of six young Ghanaians at EL-Wak during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.

According to Chadder, Ghana’s youth are not dying because of misfortune, but are dying because of neglect.

He highlighted that once again, tragedy strikes where there should have been hope for the Ghanaian youths.

Nana Kwame Bediako fumes that his blood boils when he sees headlines like the EL-Wak tragedy.

In a statement posted on X on November 12, 2025, Bediako wrote, “Once again, tragedy strikes where there should have been hope. Six young lives have been lost and dozens more injured following a stampede during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise. These were ambitious youth, desperate for a chance to serve their country and secure a livelihood in a nation that has too often failed to provide either.

My blood boils when I see headlines like this. Year after year, we mourn similar incidents, and yet, nothing changes. The truth is glaring: Ghana’s youth are not dying because of misfortune, they are dying because of neglect”.

He added, “While thousands scramble for a handful of military positions, governments past and present busily sign away our nation’s precious natural resources, such as lithium, for pennies in royalties. How can a nation so rich in minerals, talent, and opportunity continue to act so poorly in foresight and leadership?

Instead of building industries and refining our own resources, we allow others to extract, process, and profit, leaving us with scraps in return. If Ghana were truly committed to industrialising and adding value locally, the youth would not be stampeding at recruitment centres; they would be working in factories, research labs, and technology hubs powered by Ghanaian ingenuity”.

Nana Kwame Bediako further noted that the tragic incident exposes the deeper crisis of governance.

He added, “This tragic incident exposes more than just poor planning. It reveals a deeper crisis of governance. The organisers of this recruitment exercise clearly failed to consider safety protocols or crowd management measures, despite knowing the overwhelming unemployment that plagues our young population. Such disregard for human life is unacceptable and unforgivable”.

According to Cheddar, it’s time Ghana confront the uncomfortable truth that leaders are more focused on scoring political points.

“It is time we confront the uncomfortable truth: our leaders are more focused on scoring political points than on building a sustainable future. True leadership is not about ribbon-cuttings and headlines; it is about foresight, accountability, and a genuine commitment to national development.

The Twelve Pillars I gave represent the clarity, courage, and vision that Ghana desperately needs. It was a blueprint for self-reliance, industrialization, and national dignity. These principles are the gateway to our freedom.

The youth of Ghana deserve more than empty promises and preventable tragedies. They deserve jobs, dignity, and a country that values their lives. Let this not be another story that fades after a few news cycles. Let it be the wake-up call that forces us to rethink how we govern, how we plan, and how we protect our people.

Because no dream of serving one’s nation should ever end in death”, he concluded.

Owners of SML exposed in another shady last-minute contract at GACL

0

The Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) owners have been exposed for cooking another shady last-minute contract at the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

According to a Joy News report, Evatex Logistics Limited, a company affiliated with SML, three days before the 2024 elections, was awarded a contract.

Evatex Logistics Ltd is said to be a mining and sieve-dooring company with no record of having ever performed the services.

Evatex Logistics was contracted by GACL to provide revenue assurance services in regard to cargo at Kotoka International Airport.

A narrator in JOY NEWS probe explained, “Three days to the 2024 election, however. A Shady Revenue Assurance and Auditing Contract, similar to that of the SML Scandal, was cooked at Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL)

This contract, which appeared to be backdated, was awarded to Evatex Logistics Ltd., a mining and sieve-dooring company with no record of having ever performed the services.

Our investigation revealed that this company is linked to SML, an email address on the website of Evatex. Evertel@ghana.com is the same email address on the website of Evans Timbers Ltd., A parent Company of SML”.

It also added, “A search at the Office of Registrar of Companies also revealed that the beneficial owner of SML Evans Adusei is also the beneficial owner of Evatex Logistics, a mining company awarded the contract at the Airport.

In fact, Evans Adusei is both the CEO of SML and the CEO of Evatex.

The list of workers submitted by Evatex to the Ghana Airports Company to execute the contract contains the names of notable SML employees and managers”.

The investigative report revealed SML was used a a post-retirement destination for GRA employees.

“The SML head of engineering, Hamdan Abubakari, is named in the Evatex list. SML head of IT Price Sarpong is also on the list to perform the contract, and former head of Legal at the GRA  Philip Jude Mensa, now an SML employee, witnessed the Evatext contract with Ghana Airports Company is on the Evertech list together with a former Commissioner of Customs and now General Manager of SML, Isaac Crentsil.

SML, which now appears as a post-retirement destination for GRA employees, sneaked to the Airport disguised as Evertex”, it added.

Procurement expert Korina Ata Bedu noted, “Under our labour loss, an employee cannot receive salaries from two companies”.

Also, Benjamin Boakye detailed that SML itself have admitted they were doing things wrong as SML was exposed and they needed Evatex Logistics to bid for another government project.

He noted that if SML were convinced that the work they were doing was generating returns for Ghana, they would not have bid for another contract with the name Evatex.

ACEP Benjamin Boakye added, “You are better off going with a company that is mature or old, but they couldn’t because of the controversies around SML and how exposed the Company was in the public eye.

They themselves admit that they have been doing things wrong, and don’t have even the confidence to work or bid with the same company. If they were really genuinely convinced that the work that they are doing is generating returns, I don’t see why you would want to write on thermo force into another company to bid for another Government project”.

Meanwhile, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the managing director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has ended the scandalous revenue assurance contract with Evatex Logistics.

The report suggests that Evatex Logistics Limited, a company affiliated with SML, has been served with a termination letter on 28th July, 2025.

According to reports, no payments have also been made to date to Evatex Logistics.

“The terms of reference indicated that, upon successful completion of the assignment, GACL would pay Evatex Logistics Ltd out of the recouped amount—a fee equivalent to 15%, which shall be charged on the total of the possible royalties unearthed, concealment uncovered, and recouped by GACL under the audit assignment”.

Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare’s statement read, “Reference is made to the Revenue Assurance Audit agreement (The Agreement) executed between Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and Evatex Logistics Limited on the 4th of December 2024.

Management would wish to bring to your notice (as at the date of this letter), its intention to terminate the Agreement without cause oursuant to the termination clause (a) of the agreement which states as followe: A party may terminate this Agreement before its expiry, without cause, by providing the other party a one month’s prior written notice of ts decision to terminate….”

The GACL MD added, “Hence, effective 27th  of August 2025, the agreement executed on the 4th  of December 2024 shall cease to have effect and shall be considered as terminated by GACL. You are therefore required to use this notice period to demobilise and leave the premises of Kotoka International Airport on or before the 27th  of August 2025.

According to Vincent Assafuah, Ghanaians should stop calling and tagging him.

He is quoted by the State News as having stated, “I’m not the father of Samuel Aboagye’s child. Stop calling and tagging me.”

According to reports, the family of Samuel Aboagye is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

We were called by Nana Kwabena Gyamara Oyiakwan II, the Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of Samuel, to witness the court proceedings.

“The issue is that after Samuel’s death, his wife, Abigail, was contacted for a DNA test requested by the government to confirm the identities of the crash victims.

He added, “At the time, she was in the United States. She initially agreed to provide their child for the test, but when the date arrived, several calls to her went unanswered. When the family visited her residence, they discovered she had left with the child.”

“According to the family, while Samuel was alive, he allegedly expressed doubts about the paternity of the child, claiming the boy resembled a child of a certain politician, who is a Member of Parliament in the Ashanti Region,” Chuku noted.

The Angel FM reporter added, “The chief mentioned the politician’s name, but since there is no concrete evidence so for now, we cannot disclose it publicly”.

“It appears that she was allegedly dating the said politician before marrying Samuel, and the family claims the child resembles the politician. Because of these suspicions, the family wants a DNA test conducted by MediLab in Kumasi. But Abigail refused, left for the United States, and the family has now brought the issue before the Obuasi District Court,” Chuku explained.

Also, Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the late Samuel Aboagye, a former Deputy Director of NADMO, Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, has revealed that his brother doubted the paternity of his 3-year-old child.

According to Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, his brother had always doubted whether he was the father of his three-year-old child.

“Collective amnesia is real; in 2025, there’s sympathy for Ataa Ayi” – Saddick Adams fumes

0

Saddick Adams, a veteran sports journalist and broadcaster with Angel TV, has fumed at Ghanaians showing sympathy for notorious criminal Ataa Ayi.

The veteran journalist noted that collective amnesia is real and quizzed how, in 2025, some Ghanaians still have sympathy for Ataa Ayi.

According to Saddick Adams, when Ataa Ayi was arrested in 2005, it was almost unanimous that the judge who sits on his case would send him to the firing squad.

He noted that Ataa Ayi’s 70-year jail sentence was valid in law.

In a post on X, SaddicK Adams wrote, “Collective amnesia is real. In 2025, there’s sympathy in some quarters for Ataa Ayi that 70 years seems too harsh for the most notorious armed robber the nation has ever known. Because the judge who pronounced sentence [which was valid in law] claims he was influenced by fear for his own life”.

He added, “In 2005, when he was arrested, it was almost unanimous that the judge who sits on his case should send him to the firing squad”.

His comments following the debate on social media after Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie justified his reasoning behind sentencing notorious armed robber Atta Ayi to 70 years in prison.

According to Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the lengthy sentence for Atta Ayi was to protect his family.

He explained that if he had given Ataa Ayi 30 years, when he came back, his family would be the first the notorious armed robber would have attacked.

Speaking during his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, November 10, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie explained, “I gave him 70 years. And what I told myself was that if Ataa Ayi was given 30 years and he comes back, my family would be the first he would attack. By the time he comes back after 70 years, I will be dead and gone,” he said.

Ataa Ayi was labelled as Ghana’s most notorious criminal at the time, with a bounty placed on him.

He masterminded numerous armed robberies, stealing money, cars, jewellery, and other valuables and also shot victims.

The Police, led by  ACP Kofi Boakye, managed to arrest some members of his gang after fierce gun battles that left others dead.

Ataa Ayi was later convicted on multiple counts and jailed in 2005.

According to reports, Atta Ayi has now been described as a changed man.

“If you want to go to the World Cup, find your own resources” – Sports Minister tells Blacks stars fans

0

Sports Minister Kofi Adams has stated that the government would not support using government funds to send supporters to the World Cup.

The Sports Minister confirmed that the Government of Ghana will not allocate funds to transport supporters to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to Kofi Adams, if supporters want to go to the World Cup, they have to find their own resources, and the government could help facilitate their travel documents.

Kofi Adams cited the country’s economic challenges and the need to prioritise investment in local sports infrastructure.

He argued that while government funding is off the table, the Sport Minister encouraged individuals and corporate organisations to assist fans with travel arrangements.

Speaking on Peace FM Kokrokoo, Kofi Adams stated, “So far government has not given that indication that supporters will be taken to the World Cup. Well, I don’t think that it is something I will recommend”.

“We need money to build a Sports facility in Ghana, then we are going to spend money to transport supporters all the way to America in where that money could have been used to build multipurpose stadiums in some of the communities”.

He added, “If you want to go, find your own resources, and we can facilitate your travel documents, then you go, or we should mobilise from the cooperate, both private and public and give support to the fans.

The government can team up and get the cooperate to support, that will be a good idea, but allocating state money in the budget to transport supporters to the World Cup, I don’t think that it will happen”.

The Sports Minister further revealed that Ato Forson has not made any provision for supporters in the 2026 budget to be read on November 13, 2025.

“So far, what the Minister of Finance has captured in his budget is the cost of preparation for the national team’s appearance; there is no competent in the budget for supporters”, he added.

Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has promised Ghanaians football fans he will guarantee Ghana is given an appreciable visa quota for football fans to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reacting to Ghana’s qualification, Ablakwa, in a post on X, congratulated the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

“If possible, I will get Shatta Wale to join NPP” – John Boadu

John Boadu, the former NPP General Secretary and now National Chairman hopeful, has said that if possible, he will get Ghanaian dancehall king Shatta Wale to join the party.

According to John Boadu, the NPP’s future will depend on how they connect with the youth.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, John Boadu stated, “I know how to deal with these young guys, selling our messages, and making our message not too hard, as soft as they want, we’ll be able to get to them,” he said.

“By the year 2028, ages between 18 to around 36 to 40 will be about 60% of the voters. The solution is to get into their arena and deal with them”.

When asked if he is going to get Shatta Wale to join the NPP, John Boadu responded,  “If possible, why not, and campaign for you? Not necessarily a hard campaign, but passing through this high content”.

However, he was reminded that the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections engaged King Paluta, yet suffered a humiliating defeat.

He noted, “You need to do more of that by nurturing these youthful people. I am saying it is not even necessary to have them at your rallies”

“You need to meet them where they are. You need to be able to tap them with their interest and not necessarily bring them on your political platforms, and it is important that we look at that.”

He further argued that the NDC is now having a growing influence of young academics.

John Boadu added, “You can now see that academia, for instance, looks like the NDC is having a lot of them as we speak now. Many of these people don’t need so much”.

“It’s not about an appointment. Many of them just need recognition. Many of them need that touch, that belonging touch of the party to be able to get because many of them want to be seen as the ones who are even reviewing your programs, reviewing your policies”, John Boadu noted.

He further praised Shatta Wale for his massive influence among Ghanaian youth citing, “The crowd Shatta Wale pulled for his birthday concert, no political party can achieve that”.

His remarks follow the ShattaFest 2025, a night to celebrate Ghanaian Dancehall icon Shatta Wale as he marked his 41st birthday on October 18, 2025.

Fans from various parts of Ghana crowded the Independence Square in Accra on October 18, 2025, to spend the night with the artiste as he and various other Ghanaian musicians treated the audience to hit songs.

A star-studded lineup, including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, and DopeNation, among several others, featured during the ShattaFest.

Also, Public Relations Officer for the Shatta Movement, Sammy Flex, has claimed 673,000 people were in attendance at the event.

Afenyo-Markin ‘embarrasses’ Ghana’s parliament in Nigeria

0

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has petitioned the Speaker to refer Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin to the Privileges Committee for ignoring Parliament’s decision removing him from the ECOWAS delegation.

It will be recalled that in July 2025, Parliament adopted the composition of Ghana’s delegation to the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The Majority Leader moved the motion and proposed amendments, including the replacement of the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, with his deputy, Patricia Appiagyei, to meet the 30% female quota specified by ECOWAS.

He also changed Dr Bryan Acheampong as observer and made Millicent Yeboah Amankwah a member of the delegation.

Speaking on the floor of parliament on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Ayariga recounted, “Mr Speaker, I think somewhere on the 22nd of July [2025], this House passed a resolution constituting the delegation of Ghana to the ECOWAS Community Parliament. Mr Speaker, if you recall, we had removed the name of the Minority Leader, Honourable Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, Member for Effutu, from the list of Ghana’s delegation to the ECOWAS Community Parliament,” he said.

“Mr Speaker, this resolution of this Parliament was communicated to the ECOWAS Parliament by, I believe, your good self. The ECOWAS Community Parliament convened to sit in Port Harcourt in the River State of Nigeria from the 25th to the 28th of September 2025,” he said.

Ayariga continued, “Our Parliament’s delegation, as constituted by our resolution, went to Port Harcourt and found the Honorable Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin sitting there, refusing to give way as directed by this Parliament.”

The Majority leader noted that when it was time for the new delegation to be sworn in, the ECOWAS Parliament initially refused, citing the conduct of Afenyo-Markin as disobedience.

He recounted, “Indeed, whilst our nominated delegation was there and it was time to swear in members, the ECOWAS Parliament refused to swear in Ghana’s delegation. They refused to swear in Ghana’s delegation and said that they will not (sic) …. They caved in and swore in four members of our delegation. Mr Speaker Afenyo-Markin was at that session of the ECOWAS Parliament, attended the session of the ECOWAS Parliament in clear defiance of a resolution of this Parliament”.

He further petitioned the Speaker to refer Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin to the Privileges Committee.

According to Mahama Ayariga, it is time that the Honourable Afenyo-Markin be put in his proper place.”

He added, “The provisions of Order 31 state that any act or omission which affronts the dignity or authority of the Parliament of Ghana, or produces any such effect, constitutes contempt of Parliament and a breach of parliamentary privilege.

“Mr Speaker, by defying this Parliament’s resolution removing him from the ECOWAS Parliament and actually going to Port Harcourt and attending the session, he has clearly affronted the dignity and engaged in an act that constitutes an affront to the authority of this Parliament. And it is time that the Honourable Afenyo-Markin be put in his proper place”.

Mahama Ayariga added that Afenyo-Markin’s action is contempt of parliament and a breach of parliamentary privileges.

Live video captures Mahama’s convoy involved in an accident

0

A viral video has emerged of President John Dramani Mahama’s convoy involved in an accident.

Reports suggest the incident happened on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, en route to the sod-cutting ceremony of the Wa Big Push Project.

In the viral video shared on X, Mahama’s ultramodern Mercedes-Benz S-Class was spotted, followed by other vehicles.

The accident occurred when one vehicle in the convoy applied its brakes immediately, with other drivers failing to stop their vehicles in time, leading to the crash that involved about three cars in the convoy.

No casualties were recorded, with only the cars being damaged in the accident.

In related news, President John Dramani Mahama proceeded to cut sod for the Big Push project and warned contractors and engineers of the Big Push road construction projects that the days of poor construction, inflated claims, and abandoned projects are over.

He boldly declared that contractors must deliver quality on schedule and within budget, as Ghanaians deserve better.

Speaking at the Wa Big Push Project sod-cutting ceremony on November 11, John Mahama stated, “To our contractors and engineers, let me be clear: the day of poor construction, inflated claims, and abandoned projects is over. Ghana deserves better. You must deliver quality on schedule and within budget, and the Ghanaian taxpayer must see value in every kilometre of road we construct”.

Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, will allocate GHC30.8 billion in the 2026 budget for the government’s Big Push road construction projects.

According to John Mahama, the 2026 budget allocation will be double this year’s allocation of GHC13.8 billion.

He added, “As I’ve said everywhere, this year, the Finance Minister put 13.8 billion cedis into the Big Push road construction, and next year, he’s reserving 30.8 billion cedis for the Big Push road construction. And so, payment is not going to be the problem. If a contractor is not working, it is not because he hasn’t been paid. The Minister of Finance has guaranteed that once you raise your certificate and it is certified and inspected, and you’ve completed the road to specification, you will receive your payment immediately.”

“To achieve success in our communities, I urge you to support the work, protect the materials, and cooperate with the engineers,” he appealed.

“I will always apologise to President Mahama” – Ken Agyapong

0

Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said he will always apologise to President John Mahama.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, John Mahama is a good friend, and he does not want to lose his friendship.

He expressed guilt over his 2021 warning to President Mahama during post-election tensions after NPP supporters’ shops were attacked.

Mr Agyapong added that he regrets his words and values President Mahama’s friendship, revealing that his own party people have been ungrateful.

Speaking in a radio interview, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “I will always apologise to President Mahama. He is such a good friend. One thing that makes me guilty. In 2020, when we won the election, they were burning the NPP supporters’ shop at Kantamanto, and I warned President John Mahama that they were doing that because of him.

So if they dare burn any NPP member’s shop again, we are going to burn their house. NPP people see it as a sin, so I apologise today, and I still apologise to Mahama”.

He further cried out, “My people have been so ungrateful to me, and I will never lose a good friend like that. So this time I am quiet deal with your thing, now that I am quiet, he is an informant.”

In related news, Kwesi Botchwey Jnr, an aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has fired shots at NPP presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong.

According to Kwesi Botchwey Jnr, the NPP as a party needs someone with mental fortitude to be president, not someone who will require injections to chair cabinet meetings.

Speaking on Movement TV, Kwesi Botchwey Jnr stated, “We need a president who has the emotional and mental fortitude, who has a mental resilience even in the face of extreme provocation, he will not say this person is poor, so he should keep quiet.

That type of president, before you speak at a cabinet meeting unless you must bring your bank statement, because the president does not like poor people, he told Jennifer Queen and also told Abronye.

His presidency, if care is not taken before the cabinet meeting, if he is not injected, there will be no cabinet meeting”, Kwesi Botchwey Jnr stated.

Hon. Genfi stressed that recruitment into the GAF “is not for sale and will never be for sale,” warning against fraudulent syndicates exploiting the process.

In related news, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has threatened legal action against the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) if they fail to review the maximum age requirement for enlistment.

According to Dafeamekpor, the current age cap should be aligned with the National Youth Authority Act, 2016 (Act 939).

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, October 9, 2025, Dafeamekpor argued, “I intend to test this matter because, you see, we need to test systems to let systems work. And when systems are supposed to work, they must work within the existing legal framework. We must all obey the law”.

“I won’t have any problem if the armed forces say that the person between the ages of 15 years and 35 years is eligible to apply, but subject to a medical fitness test, because in a lot of countries, persons below 18 years are eligible to be recruited into the army, subject to parental consent,” he noted.

He further explained, “So this matter must be tested; if the army resists this call, it may leave me with no option but to seek a remedy in the judicial forum. Our army is constitutionally established and given effect to it under Article 102 by Parliament, and subsequently with legislation such as the National Youth Authority Act, which is the law that governs the youth bracket of this country, whether the army can continue to conduct its business without recourse to this laid down legislation”.

The shipment, valued at US$29,321,064.51, was reportedly discharged at Tema, Ghana.

Mr Okyere, who holds UK citizenship, allegedly ignored multiple court warnings to appear and prove his innocence by September 3, 2025, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest”.

They further added, “There are several claims regarding the circumstances of Mr Okyere’s arrest, with some asserting he was en route to Paris, France, on an Emirates Airlines flight when Dubai police detained him upon landing for a transit stop on Friday night.

Mr Okyere’s arrest is in connection with what is described as a “systematic and orchestrated economic crime” involving nearly US$93 million allegedly perpetrated by Springfield Exploration & Production Limited and GMP Energy Limited, both Ghanaian oil companies, along with their senior executives.

Meanwhile, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, a Ghanaian businessman and real estate mogul, has called on authorities to bring back Kevin Okyere, following reports he has been detained in Dubai.

The real estate mogul, in a passionate statement, described Kevin Okyere as one of Ghana’s most intelligent and visionary young entrepreneurs.

Nana Kwame Bediako lamented Ghana’s recurring pattern of undermining its brightest minds, citing past examples of Kwame Nkrumah, local banks, Darko Poultry Farms and Apino soaps.

He further urged the government to rise above political influence to protect innovators who are building the nation’s future.

Watch how immigration officers shockingly drag US deportees on the floor from a hotel

A video has gone viral of Immigration officers forcibly dragging a Sierra Leonean woman who was part of the 20 West African nationals deported from the US.

In the viral video shared on X, immigration officials were seen dragging a woman on the floor out of a hotel in Ogbojo, Accra.

Reports suggest the incident happened at the Vicsem Hotel in Ogbojo, a suburb of Accra.

The US deportees were scheduled to be repatriated to their respective countries.

The Sierra Leonean woman who is alleged to be a registered nurse and who lived in the United States for 35 years.

According to the information gathered, the woman pleaded with officials to remain in Ghana as she claimed to have no relatives in Sierra Leone.

The Immigration officers declined her appeal; however, reports suggest she suffered an asthma attack during the confrontation with the officers.

The US deportees were brought into Ghana as part of an arrangement with the United States.

It will be recalled that President John Mahama, speaking to the media some weeks ago, revealed that some 14 US deportees arrived in Ghana, with several of them being Nigerians and a Gambian.

He cited the regional bloc Ecowas’s free movement protocol that allows citizens of member states to enter other West African countries without a visa for up to 90 days.

John Mahama further revealed that Ghana had already facilitated the return of the Nigerians to their country, while the Gambian was still being assisted.

He stated, “We were approached by the US to accept third-party nationals who were being removed from the US. And we agreed with them that West African nationals were acceptable”.

“The government of Ghana took the principled and humanitarian decision to accept the limited number of West African nationals deported from the United States under exceptional circumstances, in line with Ghana’s long-standing Pan-African ideals and unwavering commitment to regional solidarity,” President Mahama stated.

He added, “Our decision is grounded purely on humanitarian principles and Pan-African solidarity to offer temporary refuge where needed, to prevent further human suffering, and to maintain our credibility as a responsible regional actor. Ghana’s decision must be understood as an act of Pan-African empathy. It is not transactional like Rwanda, Eswatini, Uganda, or South Sudan”.

Mahama, however, clarified that the arrangement should not be seen as an endorsement of President Donald Trump’s new U.S. immigration policies.

“The days of poor construction, inflated claims, abandoned projects are over” – Mahama tells contractors

0

President John Dramani Mahama has warned contractors and engineers of the Big Push road construction projects that the days of poor construction, inflated claims, and abandoned projects are over.

In a separate sod-cutting ceremony of the 195-kilometre Wenchi–Bole–Sawla–Wa Road, Mahama made a bold declaration that Ghana will have the best roads in West Africa within the next 24 months under the Big Push Initiative.

According to John Mahama, his government is dedicated to constructing more roads over the next two years, with the aim of making transportation safer and more efficient.

He stated, “I wish to repeat my apology and regret to the people of Ghana that with the start of the big push, the whole of Ghana is going to be a construction site for the next two years.

Wherever in this county you go, the road will be under construction, so I ask the Ghanaians to be patient with us and to accept the inconvenience.

Twenty-four months after the launch of the Big Push, you will have the best roads in West Africa”.

He further added, “For the past few years, this strategic artery has been allowed to deteriorate. Potholes, failed pavements, and broken drains have made travel difficult and hazardous.

Vehicle operating costs have risen by nearly 40%, and travel time between Wenchi, Sawla, and Wa can take up to eight hours. Because of the slow pace of movement, armed robberies have also become common. This is unacceptable in modern Ghana.”

According to President Mahama, when the road is completed, travel time will he cut by 50 per cent.

President Mahama added, “When completed, travel time between Wenchi and Wa will be cut by more than 50%, road accidents will reduce by about 45%, and farm produce will reach markets on time. This is the essence of the 24-hour economy: good roads that support production, processing, and logistics to run continuously, creating jobs and sustaining livelihoods.”

“Under this phase of the Big Push, we will reconstruct the Fufulso–Sawla Road and complete the Bole–Mandari–Chache connection to the Ivory Coast border”.

“This will create a continuous high-quality highway from Techiman through Wenchi, Bamboi, Sawla, Wa, and Hamile, connecting the agricultural heartlands of the middle belt to our northern frontier”, he revealed.

Mahama further directed contractors to prioritise local labour and local suppliers during the construction to boost the local economies.

“If you need labour, take the local people, don’t bring workers from elsewhere. If you need food or water, our people here are enterprising enough to supply you. I urge the youth from Bamboi, Banda, Tinga, Bole, and Sawla to take advantage of this opportunity”, he stated.

“We will go to Lordina to ask her to beg President Mahama on behalf of Wontumi” – Paul Yandoh

0

Paul Yandoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said he is planning on reaching the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, to beg President Mahama on behalf of Chairman Wontumi.

According to Paul Yandoh, Chairman Wontumi was personal and went overboard with some of his utterances against President Mahama.

Paul Yandoh called on John Dramani Mahama to pardon Wontumi for any sins he committed against him.

Yandoh further revealed his plans to lead a delegation to meet Mrs Lordina Mahama, to plead on behalf of Chairman Wontumi for forgiveness.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on November 11, 2025, Paul Yandoh stated, “We accept that sometimes Chairman Wontumi goes overboard. We are all Politicians, sometimes we say things, even President Mahama, during campaign times, said a lot of things.

“Recently, the MP for Awutu Senya East claimed that people had killed two of her followers, but it turned out she was lying. So, President Mahama, sometimes we all say things that may come across as personal. We apologise for that and plead with you to forgive Chairman Wontumi, we know some of the things Wontumi said were overboard,” he said.

“We also want to know someone close to President Mahama whom he values deeply, so we can reach out to the person to apologise. Wontumi went too personal.

“His wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama, is one of such people, so we will try to contact her and apologise on behalf of Chairman Wontumi,” Yandoh added.

Also, other close affiliates of Wontumi, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, have said President John Dramani Mahama is seeking vengeance against the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman.

According to Lawyer Ampaw, Mahama is seeking vengeance after Chairman Wontumi accused him of having an affair with his maid.

He alleged that President Mahama is abusing his power and influence to orchestrate Chairman Wontumi’s imprisonment as a means of retaliation for the criticisms he has directed at his family.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Lawyer Ampaw stated, “I look at Ghana and I can see doom, the president is full of vengeance, Mahama laughs with people but punishes them later. Look at what he is doing to Agradaa.

Chairman Wontumi disrespected Mahama; he accused Mahama of sleeping with his maid, and that thing still pains Mahama, so Mahama personally wants Wontumi to be jailed, and also Ibrahim Mahama wants the same.

The president is the only one who can free you from jail in Ghana; even if the court jails you, the president can pardon you. So when the president is annoyed with you, you are doomed”, he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi is expected in court today as his mining case was adjourned to November 12 and December 4, respectively.

“We need someone with mental fortitude, not one who will require injections to chair meeting” – Bawumia boy fires Ken Agyapong

0

Kwesi Botchwey Jnr, an aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has fired shots at NPP presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong.

Netizen on X reacting to Kwesi Botchwey Jnr comments stated, “People like Kwesi Botchway do not think of the “aftermath” of the primaries. Will he campaign for the party if Ken becomes the flagbearer of the party? How would he convince me not to take his initial view about Ken?. Over to you, NPP”.

A netizen added, “Looking at the utterances from both leading camps, it clearly shows you are handing the 2028 campaign message for the NDC”.

“This is very bad and unfortunate. Kwasi, you got it all wrong on this one!! We cannot continue on this path, it is unhealthy, it is bad, and above all, it murky the future project. Nahhhh!!”, another netizen added.

“Eii, meyɛm koraa ahye me. To say that Someone who can lead your party needs to be injected before forming a cabinet when he becomes the president is denigrating. You’re just beginning your political career, and this is how you’re going to start? Hmmm, such an unwise character”, one X user added.

Meanwhile, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told all New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants to prioritise issue-based campaigning.

He urged the NPP aspirants to maintain a tone of mutual respect ahead of the January 31, 2026, presidential primaries.

Akufo-Addo made this known when he hosted the five aspirants vying for the NPP’s presidential nomination at a breakfast meeting held at his private residence in Nima, Accra, on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.

The former president emphasised the importance of a clean and respectful contest.

He encouraged the spirit of camaraderie among the aspirants and called for a unified NPP to recapture power.

The Dormahene is quoted by EDHUB to have said, “I will gift Otumfuo two cows if he can resolve the long-standing Bawku conflict”.

The Bawku conflict escalated following the return of rival Chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile.

Despite increased efforts by security forces to suppress the unrest and safeguard commuters, armed assailants continue to unleash deadly attacks.

Meanwhile, the Manhyia Palace, in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, on Monday, November 10, 2025, has announced the concluding session of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, mediation into the Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

According to the Manhyia Palace statement, the  Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has scheduled November 30 and December 1, 2025, for the final mediation sessions.

“His Majesty praises both sides for their positive approach to the mediation so far and appeals to all concerned to avoid any actions likely to affect the progress towards a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict”, it added.

Also, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has revealed that plans are in motion to help resolve the ongoing feud between Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“Samuel Aboagye doubted the paternity of this particular child” – Brother of Helicopter victim

0

Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the late Samuel Aboagye, a former Deputy Director of NADMO, Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, has revealed that his brother doubted the paternity of his 3-year-old child.

According to Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, his brother had always doubted whether he was the father of his three-year-old child.

Speaking to the media after court proceedings on November 11, 2025, Nana Oyiakwan said, “When the helicopter crash happened, our younger brother Samuel Aboagye was among the victims. When the bodies were taken to Accra, the families were asked to identify them through DNA tests. I went there and called his wife, who was in America, to bring the child for the DNA, and she agreed, but she never did.

“They later took my DNA sample, as well as samples from my mother and another child Samuel had with a different woman, to help identify the bodies. But when Samuel was alive, he doubted the paternity of this particular child, and our mother is aware of that. So, when his wife refused to bring the child for the DNA test, we were not convinced.

“After the funeral, she asked that we perform all the traditional rites and let her return to her family house, but when we requested to conduct the DNA test, she refused.”

Meanwhile, the family of the late Samuel Aboagye has dragged his widow, Mrs Abigail Aboagye, to the Obuasi District Court.

The family of Samuel Aboagye is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

Angel FM Kumasi (ABN) reporter, Chuku Joseph, detailing the matter on Angel FM Kumasi, stated, “Ali (Host), what is happening is that among the helicopter crash victims was Samuel Aboagye, the Deputy NADMO Director.

Police–Military team storms Dadwen to arrest galamseyers who attacked EPA team and journalists

0

The Police and the Military have stormed Dadwen in the Ashanti Region in a dawn operation to arrest suspects behind the attack on members of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) team and Journalists.

Reports suggest the swoop occurred in early Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025.

The operation was conducted by a coordinated nationwide operation by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service to bring the perpetrators to justice.

A statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, confirmed the ongoing operations.

She revealed that the operation extends to Dadwen and Anwona in the Ashanti Region.

Also, Ehi in the Volta Region, Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani towns in the Ahafo Region.

The Police–Military team swoops follow the attack on the EPA task force and journalists.

Meanwhile, Professor Nana Ama Klutse, the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), has detailed the event that led to the accident during the agency’s anti-galamsey operation.

According to the EPA CEO, her team’s vehicle got involved in the crash while they were fleeing for their lives from heavily built and armed galamseyers.

The EPA CEO revealed the soldiers said they couldn’t overpower the heavily armed galamseyers, so they had to run for their lives.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Professor Nana Ama Klutse narrated, “As the operation we started yesterday (Wednesday, November 5), it’s a three-week plan that the EPA has, to ensure, especially the services that others provide for mining in our water bodies, which is illegal, we plan to tackle that aspect as well”.

“So we realised that it is not just enough to say, stop mining in the river bodies, but we saw that we needed to deal with the suppliers.”

“On our way near Obuasi, we saw galamsey happening on the ground, so we decided to have a look at what they were doing. When we stopped and walked into the area, as we were getting closer, they were running away, and all of them had left by the time we got there”.

She added, “We looked around for what we could pick, and we did pick. While leaving, we saw that there were actually more of the excavators, three, that were inside a river body; they had mined in the river and blocked the river in such a way that it had taken different tributaries around the area and flooded some places. It is messy. It was really a bad situation.”

“We had the military with us, and the national security also were with us, but then we saw that we couldn’t exchange fire or we could not fight them, so we had to run for our lives. So in the course of running, speeding on the road, we encountered this accident,” she narrated.

The EPA boss described the galamseyers as heavily built men were dressed in black with CID written on the back.

She further detailed, “Some of the heavily built men were dressed in black with CID written on the back. The soldiers and the national security men asked them for their ID cards, but it became confrontational, and so we had to leave because they said they could not overpower them”.

“While they were having the confrontation, we got intel from Accra that we should leave immediately, where we were and that even the route we planned to take, we should not use it again… we had to use another route altogether, much longer through the Western Region, the Central Region to Kumasi, but just before we reached Kumasi is when we had the head-on collision,” she explained.

Professor Nana Ama Klutse further detailed the intent of the injuries sustained by the journalists, “We thank God that we all have our lives now, it is just unfortunate that we have some injuries. The most critical one is a broken thigh, which is one of the Joy TV cameramen. Abubarkar has some chest pains, and he is responding to treatment.

Adom TV’s correspondent had a head injury; he is also responding to treatment. Then we have some EPA staff who were also involved in the accident; they are all responding to treatment. We have discussed it with the doctors and nurses in charge to pay special attention to them because we were on a national assignment before this unfortunate incident happened.”

Samuel Aboagye’s wife files motion in court to stop family from conducting DNA test on their child

0

Samuel Aboagye, one of the victims of the military helicopter crash wife has filed a motion in court to prevent the family from conducting a test on their child.

According to reports, the family of Samuel Aboagye is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

The family has sued her for obstructing the investigation, but she’s also asking the court to stop the DNA test mission.

However, Abigail Aboagye has refused to consent to the test and has filed a petition in court to stop the family from proceeding with it.

Rumours suggest, Abigail Aboagye was allegedly having an affair with one Ashanti Region MP (name withheld), even before he passed away.

Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary Candidate, died in the tragic accident that claimed 7 other lives on Wednesday, August 6.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

The victims lost their lives en route to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP).

Meanwhile,  Captain (Rtd) Paul Forjoe, a member of the committee that probed the August 6 crash, has revealed that the military helicopter crash was caused by a sudden altitude change.

According to the investigative committee, the tragedy was caused by a sudden loss of altitude and lift resulting from a powerful downdraft.

Speaking during the presentation of the findings at a public briefing on Tuesday, November 11, Captain (Rtd) Paul Forjoe detailed, “The investigation determined that the accident was caused by the sudden loss of altitude and lift due to downdraft.

“This loss of altitude without a change in power or pitch altitude is consistent with a downdraft associated with changing environmental conditions over high terrain,” Captain Forjoe stated.

Also, Captain (Rtd) Paul Forjoe noted that the Helicopter crash response was timely despite the difficult terrain.

“The fact that these first responders managed to get to the site in about two hours was remarkable because the terrain has very steep slopes,” he said.

“It was raining, it was slippery, so it wasn’t the easiest thing to do… we can confidently say the emergency response was very timely.”

Additionally, he revealed that the military helicopter was airworthy but lacked key safety equipment.

“The aircraft was declared serviceable and signed off by the pilot, who was fully competent to operate it,” Captain Forjoe added.

Gifty Oware-Mensah, the former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), has been released on bail after fulfilling the conditions of her GH¢10 million bail.

The former deputy NSA boss met her bail condition after 20 days, after she was granted bail by the High Court.

Reports suggest, Gifty Oware-Mensah met the requirements on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in the company of her husband and lawyer, Opoku Adusei, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem.

Mrs. Oware-Mensah, accused of causing a financial loss of over GH¢38 million to the state, has denied all charges.

In court, Gifty Oware-Mensah pleaded not guilty to five charges levelled against her by the Attorney General.

The former NSA Deputy Executive Director pleaded not guilty to five charges, including stealing and money laundering, in the ₵38 million ghost names scandal.

She made her court appearance at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Gifty Oware-Mensah was granted a GH¢10 million bail with three sureties in connection with the NSA ghost names scandal.

The Attorney-General’s Department alleged Gifty Oware-Mensah misappropriated a total of GH¢38,458,248.87 between February 2022 and March 2024, overseeing finance, audit, and procurement at the NSA.

According to prosecutors, she dishonestly transferred GH¢31.5 million from a loan facility meant to support National Service Personnel into her private company accounts.

The said money was under the pretext of supplying goods on a hire-purchase basis; however, investigation revealed no such goods were supplied, and the names used to secure the loan were ghost names from the NSA’s internal system.

AG also alleged, “Out of the money received, the accused transferred GH¢22,925,518,69 to Amaecom Global Company of which she was a director, and the remaining amount to three other companies.”

Gifty Oware-Mensah’s charges include “Stealing GH¢31,502,091.40 belonging to the National Service Authority. Willfully causing financial loss to the state through the fake hire-purchase arrangement, Abuse of public office for personal gain and Money laundering through the transfer of funds into personal and affiliated accounts”.

Meanwhile, Blakk Rasta, a Radio and Television personality, has alleged that Gifty Oware-Mensah has begged the Attorney General not to jail her.

Iddrisu Zakari has been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

Recall,  NAIMOS conducted a dawn operation at Osino in the Eastern Region, arresting 36 suspected illegal miners on Friday, November 7, 2025.

The group includes 32 Nigerien nationals and 4 Ghanaians, reportedly caught mining illegally along the Birim River in the Fanteakwa South District.

In a post on social media, Felix Kwaye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications, stated, “NAIMOS Conducts Massive Dawn Strike in Eastern Region, arrests Several Foreign Galamseyers (32 Nigerien and 4 Ghanaians) in Swoop at Osino in the Fanteakwa South District – 8 November 2025”.

The NAIMOS team also impounded heavy-duty machinery and recovered substantial amounts of cash and other mining-related materials from the site.

In related NAIMOS news, the Task Force has arrested the Chief of Dokokyina, Nana Ogyeahohuo Barima Anum, for obstructing the arrest of a prominent galamsey.

Reports suggest the incident occurred in an anti-galamsey operation at Besiasi in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.

According to the information gathered, the arrest occurred around  4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

The Chief is said to have pursued members of the task force in an effort to disrupt the arrest of Asenso Kwabena, a prominent galamsey kingpin.

In a video shared on X, the Nana Ogyeahohuo Barima Anum was caught while driving a grey Mercedes-Benz ML 350 with a registration number GT 870-14.

Also, the National Inter-Ministerial Offensive System (NAIMOS) Task Force has arrested a galamsey kingpin attempting to bribe them with GHS 100,000.

This comes following NAIMOS a successful raid at an illegal mining (galamsey) site in Bisiasi, Ayensuano District, Eastern Region.

The operation resulted in the arrest of the alleged operation leader, who is accused of blocking and polluting the Ayensu River.

The galamseyers appeared at the site armed with a pistol and attempted to bribe the Task Force with a cash amount of GHS 100,000.

In a post by Bridget Otoo, a presidential staffer, she wrote, “A Galamsey Kingpin attempted to bribe the NAIMOS team with 100,000 cedis. These guys had blocked and polluted the Ayensu River at Bisiasi in the Ayensuano District of Eastern Region.

“Galamseyers earning GHS300 a day won’t stop if minimum wage is GHS21 a day” – Ama Daaku

0

Ellen Ama Daaku, an NPP communicator and aide to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said illegal miners (galamseyers) who earn 300 cedis a day will not stop if the minimum wage is 21 cedis a day.

According to Ellen Ama Daaku, a rise in the minimum wage would empower galamsey operators to abandon illegal mining and secure better employment.

She explained that the fight against galamsey is being handled in isolation, suggesting that it should be considered within the current economic conditions and their impact on people.

Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Monday, November 10, 2025, stated, “How do you expect people involved in galamsey to stop if they’re earning 300 cedis a day while the minimum wage is 21 cedis a day? Increase the wage, if you want them to stop”.

“We should weave the galamsey fight into the current situation and its impacts on people,” she said.

Her comments come after the government has approved a 9 per cent salary increase for all public sector workers under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) for the 2026 fiscal year.

The 9 per cent upward adjustment in the national daily minimum wage, moving it from GH₵19.97 to GH₵21.77, is effective January 1 to December 31, 2026.

Dr Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, commended Organised Labour for their cooperation and patriotism.

He stated, “The country has gone through difficult times with high inflation and interest rates, but today both indicators have declined. The government is working to further reduce inflation from the current 8 per cent to ease the burden on Ghanaians”.

Meanwhile, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has said illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, is becoming a mafia situation.

According to the Asantehene, if care is not taken, the galamsey menace will engulf the whole country.

He added that the issues surrounding galamsey must be taken seriously, stressing that it should not be trivialised nor politicised.

Speaking at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards on November 8, 2025, the Asantehene stated,  “Galamsey, for example, is an issue that is so dear to everybody’s heart. We have to be very careful because it’s destroying this country. It’s more and more like a mafia situation where if you are not very careful, it’s going to engulf all of us.”

“And, therefore, we have to take this issue very, very seriously. We joke about it or we think it’s not serious, but it is, and I was asking how many people would vote for a party or a government, while we don’t want to take a firm decision on this. I’ve asked myself, because it’s politics, it’s because of votes, nothing else”.

“I can’t see why we cannot take up this matter seriously unless we are all complicit. Other than that, it’s also a serious matter. So, I was listening to the president, and I feel that more must be done to stop this,” he added.

Also, President John Dramani Mahama has vowed that as the President of Ghana, he will never give up in the fight against galamsey.

According to John Mahama, his government is leading a programme to restore mined and degraded lands and also create employment for youth.

“Tall and nice Ken Agyapong will appeal more to Gen Z girls than Asiedu Nketiah” – Naa Torshie tells NPP

0

Irene Naa Torshie, the former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), has told NPP delegates that the former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, will appeal more to Gen Z girls.

Naa Torshie quizzed the NPP delegates, if Kennedy Agyapong, a tall, nice man with a flat tummy, is placed side by side with Asiedu Nketia in an election, who would appeal more to Gen Z girls and more?

Speaking in a video shared on social media during his campaign events in the Central Region, Naa Torshie stated, “People are saying that if you bring Ken, we would vote for you. So, what do we have to do? For the Central Region, if you vote for someone else, people will laugh at you.

“I’m from the Greater Accra Region, and my people and I have decided that we are going to vote for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong… what about you?” she asked.

“Maybe there is something you might not like about him. But when Kennedy, the man that he is, stands — a tall, nice man with a flat tummy and American English — and you look at Asiedu Nketiah with his shoulder pad, who would Gen Z girls vote for during an election?” she quizzed.

Some netizens have reacted to the comments made by Irene Naa Torshie, saying, “Yes, we know that the NDC government is trying for the mother of Ghana, but we need a serious opposition party to keep the current government on track. But seeing these things happen is not good for the country.

NPP paaaa nie!!!Awurade Nana Nyankop)n in Ship Dealer’s voice!!! Npp agu!”.

“I wonder why these NPP guys talk like they have never been to school before. Campaign on ideas and policies, not these childish things”, one netizen added.

A netizen added, “Thank God for where NPP is heading.. It is my heartfelt prayer that it get worse than this, so the party will collapse.. For the sake of our generations to come, NPP must collapse and never resurrect again.. Amen”

“This is where the NPP always gets it wrong! It’s NOT about flat stomach and Gen-Z girls, but fortitude and foresight and the ability to build a country with sound economic foundations!”, one more X user added.

In related news, Kennedy Agyapong has cried out over Bryan Acheampong’s financial muscle in the NPP presidential race.

In an outburst on VOV Radio in the Hohoe Constituency, Ken Agyapong called on NPP delegates to reject money politics.

He stated, “When we were begging for five hundred Ghana cedis, where were they? When we didn’t have cars as late as May 2016, where were these rich people in the NPP? Those giving you money today will abandon you after the election.”

“I’m not corrupt, but my weak point is womanising” – Kofi Jumah

0

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former managing director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, has said he is not corrupt and will never be corrupt.

According to Kofi Jumah, his only weakness is womanising.

Maxwell Kofi Jumah also touched on his retirement plan, adding that he desires to retire on a beach with a young girl.

The former GIHOC boss detailed that he desires warmth from the beach and a baddie who will rub his head.

Speaking on Accra-based Asaasepa FM, Maxwell Kofi Jumah stated, “Where I have got to in life, I should be residing at a beach with a young girl taking a cocktail while a young girl gives me the warmth I need. I am past active politics, where we have to be shouting and arguing about politics.”

“I’m not corrupt and I will never be corrupt, but my weak point is womanising. I love women, but you can never attach corruption and bribery to me because it is not in my nature”.

“I will continue to stand for the truth even when I’m standing between death and life. No worker of GIHOC can say I took money from him or her before employing him or her to GIHOC,” Kofi Jumah stated.

However, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Magdalene Ndamley has alleged that Kofi Jumah took a GH¢40,000 weekly allowance for GIHOC.

She accused him of causing the massive debts at the GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.

Speaking in an interview on Radio XYZ on May 2, 2025, stated, “You couldn’t challenge him on financial matters. We have called him about the official car, and he says he won’t return it because GIHOC owes him”.

“This man has plunged GIHOC into huge debts. Every Friday, he instructed that GH¢40,000 be handed to him. He was already receiving a fuel allowance and his regular salary, yet he demanded an additional envelope of GH¢40,000 every Friday at 2:00 p.m. Even when he was not at work, the amount was sent to him via mobile money,” she added, speaking in Twi.

Meanwhile, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been granted bail in the sum of GHS500,000 with two sureties.

He was earlier arrested in connection with the alleged theft of company vehicles.

On Monday, June 30, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) granted him bail.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor confirmed the arrest during a press briefing.

She stated, “We received the petition to the effect that some vehicles, which were the property of that company, have been stolen by the said Maxwell Kofi Jumah. He is in our custody at the CID headquarters, and he is assisting in an investigation.

“I must say that as of this afternoon, we have retrieved three vehicles; the said vehicles that were stolen by him have been retrieved, so he is really assisting us in the investigation, and we will take it up from there,” she said.

Meanwhile, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has responded to national security storming his house over an alleged state vehicle in his possession.

In a Facebook post, he wrote, “I hear the Mahama people want to come for the GIHOC car in my possession. Can someone tell them that the car is parked safely? They can come for it. They should also prepare to hand over my properties to me. It is more than the car. A whole lot more. Interesting times ahead”.

“Plantain theft in rural areas is like stealing a car in cities” – Baffoe-Bonnie defends harsh sentencing

0

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Chief Justice nominee, has defended harsh sentencing meted out to persons who steal a bunch of plantain in the rural areas.

The acting Chief Justice used his own personal experience during his parliamentary vetting to defend sentencing equating a rural woman’s stolen plantain to an urban car theft.

According to Baffoe-Bonnie, when a magistrate sentences someone to three years for stealing a bunch of plantain, people in Accra might scoff, but do they know what that bunch of plantain means to a woman in rural areas?

Speaking during his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, November 10, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie explained, “So, while admitting that there are some people who shouldn’t be there. There are also some people who are there who have to be there.

Honourably, we’re always talking about a bunch of plantains and creating on eggs, my mother is a Catholic, was eclectic house tell the story”.

He added, “My mother was a catholic, you know, these old ladies how when this was in my time, the Catholic priest was a white person. So at the end of the year, my mother wants to go and then harvest a particular plantain that has nurtured over the year.

My mother was going into their farm every morning with a bent back. This young one was sitting under a tree playing drafts every day my mother passed by him to go to the farm. Now, one year on, it’s time for harvest. My mother wants to harvest the plantain to come and give to the reverend minister. The white priest who speaks Latin, and then this young man has gone there. You know, when they go there, they don’t cut the plantain. They move from the top. So my mother will walk all the way to the place before realising that their plantain has been harvested”.

Baffoe-Bonnie added, “We sit in Accra here when the magistrate decides to send the boy to prison for three years, we sit in Accra here and say they stole only a bunch of plantains. Do you know what it means? What bunch of plantain means to my mother is like stealing your car. You see. So, I mean, there are so many reasons. The magistrate is a judge; they have these sentencing guidelines they have them”.

Also, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has justified his reasoning behind sentencing notorious armed robber Atta Ayi to 70 years in prison.

According to Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the lengthy sentence for Atta Ayi was to protect his family.

He explained that if he had given Ataa Ayi 30 years, when he came back, his family would be the first the notorious armed robber would have attacked.

The acting Chief Justice explained, “I gave him 70 years. And what I told myself was that if Atta Ayi was given 30 years and he comes back, my family would be the first he would attack. By the time he comes back after 70 years, I will be dead and gone,” he said.

Watch Dr Bawumia skillfully display his energetic agbadza dance moves

0

A video has surfaced of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, displaying his energetic agbadza dance moves.

In the viral video shared on X, Dr Bawumia was spotted among some supporters at Agotime-Ziope Constituency in the Volta Region.

Dr Bawumia was spotted in a happy mood as he danced Agbadza, a traditional Ewe dance of the people of the Volta region.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the video stated, “From steering to dancing, the next score will be catastrophic. What a display of sheer desperation draped as skillfulness. Next joke!”.

Another netizen added, “He once told them they were Togolese on Ghana’s voter register because of their names. Now he is so comfortable dancing with them because votes”.

“If he likes, make him dance pass @dancegodlloyd …. Opposition he go dey there ….afflection of the NPP shall not rise a second time until they learn”, one more X user added.

“He danced into opposition and is still dancing. That Ghanaians voted them out doesn’t mean they should be doing anyhow in opposition. Funny guy”, an x user also added.

Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia has said he has risked his life for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and how can anyone call him a stranger?

According to Dr Bawumia, he has served as running mate four times, as Vice President for two terms, and as flagbearer.

Dr Bawumia further emphasised that he has sacrificed, lost opportunities, and even risked his life for the NPP. So how can anyone call him a stranger?

Speaking to delegates and party faithful during his tour of the Oti Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “Those who make such comments do not understand the history of our party. The UP was formed from the coming together of people from all walks of life — and that unity gave birth to the NPP”.

“The NPP’s strength lies in its diversity. It does not matter whether you are Dagomba, Ga, Dangme, Sefwi, Ewe, Asante, or Kwahu — if you are capable, you can lead this party,” he stressed.

He added, “I have served as running mate four times, as Vice President for two terms, and now as flagbearer. I have sacrificed, lost opportunities, and even risked my life for this party. So how can anyone call me a stranger?”

“What we need is unity and mutual respect in our party and in Ghana. Let’s reject divisive talk and focus on building a stronger NPP that represents everyone,” he concluded.

Bawumia further added, “Today, some of my opponents say I am an outsider and a stranger, who does not deserve to lead the party because of where I come from.

This is dangerous, divisive and contrary to the diversity of our unifying tradition,” he stated.

He added, “Those who say this don’t understand our history. Our tradition is the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, formed by all the main tribes across Ghana. This is the tradition of the NPP”.

“If Dr Bawumia, after 17 years of service to the party, is described as an outsider and stranger, how do we grow the party to attract new members from all parts of Ghana?” he asked.

Dr Bawumia further declared, “Any member from any part of the country can lead the party if you are capable. It does not matter where you are—Dagomba, Ga, Dangbe, Sefwi, Ewe, Dagarti, Wala, Bono, Asante, Akyem, Kwahu, Mamprusi, Kusasi, Konkomba, Fante, Frafra, Guan, Gonja, Sisala, Kasena, Kotokoli, Bimoba, or Chakosi.”

Mahama’s gov’t real test will come after IMF programme – Former Deputy Finance Minister

0

Abena Osei-Asare, a former Deputy Finance Minister and Chairperson of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, has said the John Mahama-led NDC government’s real test will come after exiting the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

The PAC Chair highlighted that she is happy with what the NDC government is doing, but asserted that the real challenges will come after the IMF program.

Ghana’s IMF program in May 2023 was designed to restore macroeconomic stability, foreign reserves, and reduce public debt.

The three-year  $3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility is expected to conclude in 2026.

Speaking on The Point of View, Abena Osei Asare stated, “Clearly, they are fast-forwarding the reforms that we put in place. I am happy that they are going by those reforms, and that is what is yielding results. The most important thing is to sustain this beyond the IMF programme.”

“That is where the fear is, that beyond the IMF programme, have they put in buffers, have they put in systems and strategies that will uphold or maintain whatever they have done”.

I am happy with what they are doing. I will say that the test will come after they have gone off the IMF programme and what they have put in place to sustain it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has declared at the IMF/World Bank talks that Ghana’s economy has turned the corner.

The BoG Governor declared that Ghana’s economy is back on track after years of instability.

He described Ghana’s economy as being “back on track” following months of policy discipline.

Speaking at the IMF/World Bank Governor Talk Series in Washington, D.C., under the theme “From Crisis to Confidence: Ghana’s Journey to Macroeconomic Stabilisation,” Dr Asiama stated, “We came to meet a challenged economy in the sense that, remember, we had a domestic debt issue in 2022, fiscal policy was highly expansionary. It led to our exiting the international financial market. There was a resort to domestic financing.

“We remember all the sovereign downgrades we had to suffer. We came into office with a lot of liquidity, high inflation, [and an exchange rate that was depreciating widely,” he said.

He added, “And I remember when we came in, there were talks about whether we should cancel the programme altogether, there were doubts as to whether we would be able to carry on the programme.

“But I am happy to say that eight months down the road, we have turned the corner. Ghana is back,” Dr Asiama declared.

The Governor added, “Growth has rebounded, inflation has cooled, and Ghana is now outperforming expectations under the IMF programme. Inflation, which stood at 23.5 per cent in January 2025, has since dropped to 9.4 per cent in September — the first single-digit rate in four years, beating the government’s 11.9 per cent target.”

The BoG Boss also revealed that the Central Bank occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi for periods of exceptional market pressure.

The BoG Governor refuted claims that the Central Bank is overstepping its bounds in managing the foreign exchange market.

According to the BoG Governor, the Central Bank’s actions fall within a flexible exchange rate framework aimed only at curbing excessive volatility.

Dr Asiama explained, “The framework that we have is a flexible exchange rate management framework. Essentially, what we do is smooth excessive volatilities. Yes, there were allegations about whether we were intervening in the market, but that was not exactly the case”

Dr Asiama highlighted that in the second and third quarters of 2025, Ghana undertook several “lumpy” foreign payments, including billions of U.S. dollars to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and domestic bondholders, adding that at the same time, remittance inflows weakened, draining liquidity from the interbank foreign exchange market.

He added, “In the mix of that, the central bank had to step in. The interbank FX market had dried up, so the central bank had to provide that support”.

“We do not over-support the market at all. What we seek to do is limit volatility to ensure smooth dynamics in the market, and that is the framework we will maintain going forward,” he affirmed.

Ex-BOST CEO arrested after attempting to ‘flee’ despite being on a stop list

0

Edwin Provencal, the Former Chief Executive Officer of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), has been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

According to reports, the Former BOST CEO was arrested after allegedly attempting to travel abroad despite being on a stop list.

Edwin Provencal is currently in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for further investigations.

The former BOST CEO was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) while attempting to board a flight out of the country.

Mr Provencal is on EOCO a stop list as part of ongoing investigations into activities that occurred during his tenure as the CEO of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST).

Edwin Provencal was apprehended on Monday, November 10.

Reports suggest he was arrested in an attempt to flee while en route to Maputo, Mozambique, without securing the necessary authorisation.

Edwin Provencal’s arrest comes amid an intensified inquiry into BOST’s operations, with the government emphasising accountability and transparency in state-owned enterprises.

As CEO of BOST Provencal oversaw key aspects of Ghana’s fuel supply and storage infrastructure.

EOCO sources further suggested that officials intercepted him to ensure that the ongoing probe was not compromised.

However, EOCO did not provide additional details on the nature of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Minister for government communications has disclosed that More than 80 former government officials under the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government have been brought in for questioning over various corruption cases.

Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana TV program, the minister asserted that about 280 cases of corruption involving more than 80 past government officials are being investigated.

“So you may not know. But I can tell you, over 80 different people have been interviewed. Some of them have been given bail quietly. Some of them have people standing surety for them. 80? 80. And more. And this is something that continues to happen. And let me tell you, all the 280 cases that Oram presented have been looked into. All of them, bar none.

So that has been done. There are some done naturally because of the actors involved and their own attempts to seek support from their base. It gets to the front burner. Because when they are invited or arrested, they mobilise people to come and make noise, to demand their release. So that one naturally is covered by the media. And then sometimes even the media gets wind of it, and so you blow it up.” he said

“That is standard practice. It is not everything that comes before the Attorney General or prosecutorial bodies that they take to court. In fact, there may yet be instances where there is evidence of wrongdoing. But perhaps the weight of the evidence may be insufficient. Because in criminal cases, you have to meet a certain height ratio that it must be beyond a reasonable doubt. So there are instances where you see that yes, there are questions to be answered. The questions have not been satisfactorily answered. But if you take it to court, you may not get the evidence that is required to secure a conviction. So you leave it at that until a time where you get additional evidence.” he added.

“But in many instances, there is hardcore, irrefutable evidence. But this Attorney General is a well-trained, well-heeled, experienced legal practitioner. He himself has represented many people in criminal cases. So he is fully aware of the threshold that must be met and the nuances that go into securing a conviction. So because of that, he is doing a thorough job. He is going through the files, the dockets, with a fine comb.”

Acquire modern helicopters and training simulator – Investigative committee report to GAF

0

Captain Paul Forjoe, a member of the investigative committee probing the tragic military helicopter crash on August 6, has revealed that the crash report recommends that the Ghana Armed Forces acquire modern helicopters and a training simulator.

According to the investigative committee report, the Air Force must invest in simulators for recurrent pilot training.

He further added that Ghana contracts certified aviation weather providers and develops en route navigational aids, especially in remote areas.

Speaking during the official presentation of the findings, Captain Forjoe detailed, “We have recommended that the Air Force acquire modern aircraft with terrain avoidance warning systems and modern navigation systems”.

“The aircraft should also have cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders, which are the audio-visual capable types.”

Captain Forjoe added that the Air Force should consider establishing flight data monitoring that will allow better real-time oversight of aircraft operations.

“The Air Force should seriously consider establishing flight data monitoring and en route tracking systems,” he explained.

Also, Captain (Rtd) Paul Forjoe, a retired pilot and a senior aviation engineer with the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB), revealed that the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash was caused by a sudden altitude change.

According to the investigative committee, the tragedy was caused by a sudden loss of altitude and lift resulting from a powerful downdraft.

Captain (Rtd) Paul Forjoe detailed, “The investigation determined that the accident was caused by the sudden loss of altitude and lift due to downdraft.

Manhyia Palace announces Dec. 13 as new date for Daddy Lumba’s funeral rites

The final funeral rites of the late highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have been rescheduled to December 13 by the Manhyia Palace.

Daddy Lumba’s funeral was earlier slated for December 6.

During a meeting at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025, Dadiesoabahene was appointed to oversee the arrangements of the funeral.

Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, the sister of Daddy Lumba, requested that a postmortem be conducted, arguing that she suspects foul play surrounding her brother’s death.

She further asked for a change in date for the postmortem to be conducted.

Otumfuo Saamanhene noted that the police will handle the postmortem and revealed December 13 as the new date for the funeral.

Also, Akosua Brempomaa has been pardoned for her invocation of the Great Oath and warned to refrain from such actions.

It will be recalled that the sister of highlife legend Daddy Lumba invoked the Otumfuo’s Great Oath, demanding that the family head investigate the cause of the musician’s death before proceeding with his burial.

She warned that if the family fails to act, the oath will take effect against those responsible.

In a separate interview, Ernestina Fosu on Adum TV after her court appearance on 28 October 2025, vowed to block his burial until the cause of death is known.

She stated, “The funeral will not be held on 6 December. We did not file for an injunction because we are insane. We still do not know what killed my brother. We cannot allow people to rush his funeral”.

She further alleged that some members of the funeral committee are exploiting her brother’s death for financial gain.

“Some people have taken deals. They signed a contract with Flora Tissue and kept two billion for themselves; that’s why they are in such a hurry,” she alleged.

Also, the Kumasi High Court dismissed an injunction of Akosua Serwaa.

The  Kumasi High Court threw out an injunction application filed by the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, to halt the highlife legend’s burial and funeral arrangements.

Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur presiding,  on the case ruled that, under Ghanaian customary law, the family holds the right to make decisions regarding a deceased person’s remains.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh’s injunction application sought to block the head of the extended family and Odo Broni, also identified as his spouse, from proceeding with funeral rites.

We also assessed the aircraft to see if it was for the purpose, he added. It met all the basic safety requirements,…the helicopter was in good condition and met all safety requirements.”

According to Maxwell Kofi Jumah, he desires to retire on a beach with a young girl.

The former GIHOC boss detailed that he desires warmth from the beach and a baddie who will rub his head.

Kofi Jumah emphasised that he is past active politics, where he would be shouting and arguing about politics.

Maxwell Kofi Jumah further touched on the accusation levelled against him of being corrupt.

The former GIHOC boss claimed he has never been corrupt and will never be, adding that his only weak point is womanising.

“I’m not corrupt and I will never be corrupt, but my weak point is womanising. I love women, but you can never attach corruption and bribery to me because it is not in my nature.

I will continue to stand for the truth even when I’m standing between death and life. No worker of GIHOC can say I took money from him or her before employing him or her to GIHOC,” Kofi Jumah stated.

“I wasn’t angry” – PAC Chair Abena Osei Asare on clash with DVLA boss

0

Abena Osei Asare, the Chairperson of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has finally reacted to her clash with the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Julius Neequaye Kotey, at the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) sitting.

According to Abena Osei Asare, her attitude toward Julius Neequaye Kotey was not one of anger but that of someone executing her duties as PAC Chair.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV on November 10, 2025, Abena Osei Asare stated, “I wasn’t angry, but you know, when you are in a position, you have to live up to it. You came, you told us you were doing ABCD with reference to the number plates, and you are coming up with new security features. When we sit there, it’s about the people of Ghana, and we echo their concerns.

“When we give you the opportunity to share what you do, it’s not about Abena or the Ranking Member asking. But Ghanaians need answers.”

When quizzed about whether the matter had been resolved, Abena Osei stated, “I gave him the opportunity to answer, and he chose to answer the way he did.”

Recall the heated exchange was about concerns raised PAC chair about privacy and data protection under the DVLA’s new digitisation initiative.

The DVLA is introducing number plates embedded with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips.

According to the DVLA boss, the  RFID chips would enhance security and curb vehicle-related criminality.

The DVLA boss explained that the RFID-enabled plates would make it very difficult for external entities to tamper with or replicate vehicle information.

Nonetheless, PAC Chair Abena Osei Asare sought clarity on the scope of data to be embedded, whether the plates would bear vehicle owners’ surnames.

“I’m asking you a specific question. Is it going to have the user’s surname on the number plates?” she asked.

The DVLA CEO stated, “We don’t put names on number plates… I was wondering why that question. Sorry, but we don’t put names on number plates.”

His answer frustrated the Chair, who stated, “What are you telling me? People pay to have their names on number plates, and you sit here as the DVLA boss and tell me you don’t put numbers on number plates.

“Haven’t you seen specialised numbers with people’s surnames and personalised names on number plates? yes or no…. So why are you telling me you don’t put names on number plates?

Kotey clarified, “We don’t put names on number plates… So, I can explain that”.

Osei Asare stated, “Not that you can explain that. You said, you don’t expect me to ask you that question…that is what you said. You don’t expect me to ask you that question because people do not put their number plates, their names on their number plates.

“That is a blatant lie. You have people who pay for specialised number plates, and they have theirs, and if I’m asking you, you just mentioned that there are going to be security features.

“And I’m asking, is that going to include people’s names on that plate? And you said, you don’t expect me to ask you that question, are you not a DVLA boss?”

Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Minister of Transport, attempted to calm tempers and provide clarification.

The Minister of Transport explained, “I think he was trying to explain that we have different types of numbers that we can acquire, so if you want …”

However, the DVLA boss, faced with the Committee’s insistence, withdrew comment, saying, “Honourable Chair, respectfully, I withdraw that statement.”

The PAC chair, Osei Asare, accepted the withdrawal but accepted the clarification, but insisted that the Committee’s scrutiny was motivated by public interest.

Also, the DVLA boss has said he chose not to argue back during the Public Accounts Committee engagement.

He highlighted that he didn’t want to be disrespectful, so he chose not to argue back.

Manhyia Palace announces Otumfuo’s final mediation sessions on the Bawku Conflict

0

The Manhyia Palace, in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, on Monday, November 10, 2025, has announced the concluding session of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, mediation into the Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

According to the Manhyia Palace statement, the  Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has scheduled November 30 and December 1, 2025, for the final mediation sessions.

The statement shared on X read, “Manhyia Palace is pleased to announce that His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has scheduled two days, November 30 and December 1, 2025, for what is expected to be the concluding session of his mediation in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict”.

“His Majesty praises both sides for their positive approach to the mediation so far and appeals to all concerned to avoid any actions likely to affect the progress towards a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict”, it added.

Also, President Mahama, speaking to the Overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Yiri, lamented that Bawku, which was once a prosperous commercial centre, is now a pale shadow of itself.

He noted that the conflict has affected the Mamprusi, Kusasi, Moeshies, Hausas, and all other ethnic groups living in the area.

Speaking at the Jubilee House during a visit by a delegation from the Nayiri, John Mahama added, “I cannot speak of peace and development in the North without touching on the situation in Bawku. The protracted conflict in Bawku continues to pose a grave challenge to our national peace and regional harmony.

Bawku, which has always been the booming and prosperous commercial centre, is now a pale shadow of itself. Nobody is happy about this situation. Youth move around on motorcycles with sophisticated assault rifles and fire indiscriminately.

The conflict has affected everyone, Mamprusi, Kusasi, Moeshies, Hausas, and all other ethnic groups living in the area. Many professionals have fled the area, and public service workers are refusing postings to Bawku,” he said.

Background

The Bawku conflict escalated following the return of rival Chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile.

Alhaji Seidu Abagre fled Bawku after an arrest warrant was issued against him; however, the High Court in Kumasi on October 17, 2024, nullified the warrant, allowing him to resurface.

In the past weeks, fresh violence has exploded in Bawku after a student of Bawku Senior High School was apparently pulled from his dormitory and shot dead by unknown attackers.

The residence of the Member of Parliament for Bawku and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, was also reportedly set on fire.

Also, there is the recent killing of a Kusasi chief in Kumasi, which has sparked a series of reprisal attacks.

Reports suggest two more individuals were reportedly killed in Kumasi in connection with the chieftaincy tensions.

Despite increased efforts by security forces to suppress the unrest and safeguard commuters, armed assailants continue to unleash deadly attacks.
