“Most Nurses and Doctors are so heartless” – Prophet Kofi Oduro

0

Prophet Kofi Oduro, the General Overseer of Alabaster International Ministries, has called out Health workers, particularly Nurses and Doctors, following the recent ongoing brouhaha over the Ridge Hospital incident.

The man of God, speaking to his congregation, recounted some incidents of medical negligence he experienced first-hand at the Tema General Hospital and the Achimota Hospital.

According to Prophet Kofi Oduro, the majority of Nurses and Doctors are so heartless.

Speaking to his congregation in a short video shared by SIKAOFFFICIAL on X, Prophet Kofi Oduro stated, “I went to the Tema General, and a patient fell from his bed to the floor. The patient was lying there for 40 minutes. I went to the Achimota Hospital, where five nurses, one a doctor they were on tablets, laughing, and a patient was lying next to us, screaming, ‘I am dying, I am dying’, and they were just giggling on the internet”.

“You are so heartless, most of you, Nurses and most of you doctors are so heartless”, the man of God confidently added.

His comments come following the Ridge Hospital brouhaha with a self-styled social activist, identified as Ralph St. Williams, who stormed the emergency ward and filmed staff while accusing them of delaying treatment for his patient.

In a video that has since gone viral, Ralph is seen with blood on his hands, shouting at doctors and nurses for allegedly ignoring an accident victim he brought in. The footage, which also showed critically ill patients receiving treatment, has sparked concerns about patient privacy and hospital protocols.

According to Ralph, he had waited for over an hour without his ward being attended to. His actions, however, escalated into a heated confrontation, with witnesses reporting that a nurse was assaulted in the process. The hospital later confirmed that the Ghana Police Service had to be called in to restore order.

Additionally, a statement signed by Juliana Hariwa, Head of Public Relations, Ridge Hospital, explained that the incident happened during a period when clinicians were handling multiple emergencies at once. The statement said the activist, together with relatives of the patient, “invaded the emergency triage” in large numbers, disrupting service and creating unnecessary tension.

Also, Michael Kosi Dedey, an Engineer and Policy Analyst, has said the management system of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) needs to be questioned.

According to the Policy Analyst, the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the visit to Ridge Hospital following the assault was needless.

He noted that the Ridge Hospital management should handle the issue with the minister, only providing leadership through policy direction, not personal interventions in incidents.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Michael Kosi Dedey stated, “What is the minister going to do there? The Minister hasn’t gotten a duty for the day? The hospital authorities should have been able to take care of that situation. For me, again, it points to weak systems.

“Where it takes a minister to go into the hospital to go and do what? These are questions that we need to ask about management systems. That minister should be sitting in his office to assess what has gone wrong.

He added, “Why couldn’t the hospital authorities control [the situation]? He should be looking at policies and guidelines to support the hospitals instead of looking for possible control opportunities.

“This is not leadership. The same minister has been going around fighting the Chief Executives of hospitals. Clearly and consistently, the minister has demonstrated these inefficiencies,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the nurse at the Ridge Hospital has filed a lawsuit against Ralph Saint Williams over allegations of assault and defamation.

Rejoice Tsotsoo Bortei, in her suit, also accused Ralph Saint Williams of publishing damaging remarks about her on social media.

In the nurse’s writ filed at the High Court, she is demanding GH₵7 million in damages — GH₵5 million for battery and GH₵2 million for defamation.

‘We have marked journalists criticising us, they will come and meet us’ – GRNMA Secretary

0

The General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr David Tenkorang-Twum, has issued a threat to Journalists who are criticising nurses unfairly following the Ridge Hospital incident.

According to the GRNMA Secretary, those Journalists criticising nurses have been marked and they are going to meet them at the hospital.

He noted that he intends to prove to them that they are professionals and do not intend to cause them harm.

Speaking in an interview on Neat FM, Dr Tenkorang-Twum said, “Those journalists, we have marked them. They will come and meet us in the hospital; I am serious about this. I said they will come and meet us in the hospital, and we will show them that we are professionals.

“They are in their offices saying all sorts of things they want, but when they come to us, we will prove to them in our consulting rooms that we are professionals”.

“Not that we will do them evil, but we will demonstrate that we are professionals. The nonsense they do on the radio, we won’t do the same, we will show them professionalism”, he added.

His remarks come following the bashing being levelled at some nurses and midwives, and also comments he made against the health minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, following the Ridge Hospital brouhaha.

Dr David Tenkorang accused Ghana’s Health Minister of lacking education on the hospital’s triage system.

Speaking on Asempa FM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Dr David Tenkorang stated, “The most disgusting and infuriating thing is the second point; the minister should know that there are systems over there. If he doesn’t understand, he should get somebody to educate him on the triage system.

So, that statement does not make sense to me at all; it doesn’t make sense. Whoever wrote that statement doesn’t even understand the hospital system. Why? Is he a farmer? What kind of life is that?” he fumed.

Meanwhile, the Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana has also condemned Dr David Tenkorang-Twum, comments against the Health Minister.

According to the Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana, the GRNMA General Secretary’s comments are highly unacceptable and unbecoming a leader of his stature.

In a statement signed by the association’s President and secretary read, “We, the Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana wish to place on record our strong condemnation of the recent utterances made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum”.

“While we continue to stand firmly with our fellow nurses and midwives in their legitimate concerns and struggles, we find the language and description he used in reference to the Honourable Minister of Health to be highly unacceptable and unbecoming a leader of his stature. As a senior representative of the nursing profession, we believe Dr. Tenkorang-Twum should have exercised greater discretion, professionalism, and respect in his choice of words, regardless of any disagreement with government policy or actions”.

Also, the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) issued a 24-hour ultimatum for Dr David Tenkorang-Twum to retract and render an apology to all farmers.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, GNAFF, in a statement read, “GNAFF hereby serves notice to Dr David Tenkorang-Twum to, within 24 hours, retract his unfortunate remarks and render an unqualified apology to all farmers and fishermen across Ghana. Anything short of this will compel GNAFF to consider the appropriate steps necessary to defend the dignity and integrity of our hardworking members”.

“Farmers and fishermen have long been the backbone of Ghana’s economy, contributing immensely to the nation’s growth, food security, and economic survival. It is highly disheartening and unacceptable for such a venerable group to be subjected to public ridicule in this manner,” the statement added.

“If God’s favour falls on me, why not?” – Eric Opoku on NDC flagbearership ambition

0

Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, has broken his silence on rumours surrounding his ambition to succeed President John Mahama as NDC flagbearer.

According to the Agric Minister, his priority now remains the success of Ghana’s agricultural sector, which is key to John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.

He asserted that God has always chosen leaders for the NDC, so if God’s favour falls on him, he will gladly accept it.

Speaking on the Citizen Show on Accra 100.5 FM on Friday, August 22, 2025, Eric Opoku stated, “God has a way of choosing leaders for the NDC over the years, and if that favour falls on me, why not? I will gladly accept it”.

“Sometimes, when leaders are chosen, some may dislike the decision, but it becomes what everyone must rally behind to win the next election.

“If the party’s grassroots decide I should lead them, I will lead them.”

However, unconfirmed reports also suggest, Eric Opoku, the current Minister of Food and Agriculture, is being pushed by some bigwigs within the NDC.

According to sources, Eric Opoku is being pushed forward as John Mahama’s heir, silently, not to create unnecessary attention for the minister.

It has also been alleged that a strong team has been mobilised to advocate for Eric Opoku.

Eric Opoku joins a tall list of NDC bigwigs, including National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 elections is expected to field a new candidate as current President John Dramani Mahama is serving his constitutionally mandated second term in office.

President John Mahama, with just months in his second term in office, has to deal with speculations of surrounding his successor.

Haruna Iddrisu, in December 2024, responded to the growing calls for him to contest the NDC flagbearer position after John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 on Friday, December 13, 2024, he stated, “My eye is on the ball, but I don’t know about tomorrow.”

Also, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said, “No serious politician rules out any position. It’s known that it is ambition that drives politics.

And if you rush to rule things out, you get to a point where you’ll be at a corner where you regret having ruled out certain positions”.

Meanwhile, a recent Global InfoAnalytics survey on the NDC flagbearer race indicates Haruna Iddrisu, the education minister, has become the National Democratic Congress (NDC )’s most preferred candidate to lead the country for the 2028 general elections.

The recent poll shows Haruna Iddrisu is slightly ahead of the NDC Chairman, Asiedu Nketia.

Haruna Iddrisu in the poll garnered a total of 27 per cent, followed by Asiedu Nketia pulling 26 per cent.

The finance minister, Ato Forson, pulled 22 per cent, with Chief of Staff Julius Debrah securing  11 per cent.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also garnered 8 per cent, with the member of parliament for Korle Klottey, Zanetor Rawlings, polling 4 per cent.

Mussa Dankwah, in his post on X, stated, “Haruna and General knock horns in what may be an interesting race for the NDC, at least from General’s voters’ perspective”.

However, the earlier poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics some months ago had Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang at the top with 33%, Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, managed to poll 24% of total votes cast, while Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, followed with 16%.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, managed 13% of votes each.

“The so-called tribal statements I made were facts” – Dr Bryan Acheampong

0

Dr Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has said the statement he made, widely regarded as a tribal statement against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was factual.

According to Dr Bryan Acheampong, the statements were facts he was sharing with some NPP party members.

Dr Bryan Acheampng is quoted by GHONE TV to have said, “The so-called tribal statements I made were facts I was sharing with party people”.

The lawmaker in his statement cited former President John Agyekum Kufuor and Akufo-Addo’s getting votes from the Kusasi, but Bawumia’s belonging to one side of the divide led to the NPP losing votes with the Kusasi.

According to Dr Bryan Acheampong, the NPP chose Dr Bawumia, who is a Mamprusi, one of the tribes in the Bawku Conflict caused the NPP to lose its seat in the Oti Region, Upper East, Upper West, and the Northern Region.

Speaking to a gathering, Dr Bryan Acheampong stated, “President Kufuor won all NPP votes in Kusasi, and President Akufo-Addo also did the same thing, but because the fight is between two tribes (Mamprusis and Kusasis) and we elected a flagbearer from one of them, we lost in the Oti Region, Upper East, Upper West, and the Northern Region.

“We lost all our seats because of the candidate we presented (Dr Mahamudu Bawumia), and he could be a victim of circumstance and not his fault, but the timing didn’t favour him”, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged his rivals for the NPP 2028 flagbearership to contest him with their visions and ideas.

According to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s 2026 primaries must be on ideas and visions and not on tribal or religious propaganda.

Dr Bawumia, addressing the NPP New York 33rd Anniversary celebration on Sunday, August 24, dismissed attempts to discredit him based on his northern roots or Islamic faith.

He noted that tribal or religious propaganda is dangerous and unworthy of the NPP’s democratic tradition.

Dr Bawumia at the event stated, “If you want to contest me, come with a vision, come with your ideas, come with your track record, come with your integrity and let us decide”.

“The NPP has always been the party that embraces all Ghanaians, regardless of where they come from or what religion they practise. That is our heritage and our strength. If we stay true to this and focus on ideas, we will be well-positioned to win the 2028 elections,” he added.

Also, Dr Bawumia replied to some NPP members who are claiming his wife, Samira Bawumia, is not a true Ghanaian.

The former vice president noted that when Samira Bawumia was campaigning the length and breadth of Ghana for the NPP, her identity as a Ghanaian was never questioned.

According to Dr Bawumia,  the NPP’s internal politics has become dangerous.

He asserted that the NPP is not a tribally or religiously bigoted party.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia questioned, “When Samira was campaigning the length and breadth of Ghana for the party, they did not say she was not a true Ghanaian. So what has changed now? Why now?”.

Dr Bawumia emphasised that his wife has made immense contributions to the NPP by mobilising support across the country both in government and in opposition.

He added that the propaganda from his rivals is are clear sign of the lack of a clear message and vision.

“It made me realise how desperate and dangerous some of our internal opponents have become. NPP is not a tribally or religiously bigoted party, so look for other issues to market yourselves,” he declared.

“We are the party of inclusivity and hope. Our strength has always come from embracing Ghanaians of every background. That is what will make us win in 2028,” he concluded.

“Shut that door, we don’t need it” – Prophet Kofi Oduro on prophecy submission for review

0

Prophet Kofi Oduro, the General Overseer of Alabaster International Ministries, has fired shots at the Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, following his calls for the submission of prophecies to his office for review.

According to Prophet Kofi Oduro, the prophecy door must be shut, as Ghana does not need an office for reviewing prophecies.

He asserted that Ghana needs hospitals, schools and roads, but the government is opening doors for nonsense.

Speaking to his congregation, Prophet Oduro stated, “We are here talking nonsense. If someone receives a prophecy, he should bring it. What kind of nonsense is that? Do you know the nonsense prophecies some people want to prophesy?

Shut that door, we don’t need it,  we need Hospitals, we need schools, look at the rubbish roads we have, and you are opening a table for what nonsense”, he added.

Also, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has told Ghanaian Prophets that their prophecies about death are enough.

According to Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, his office was not set only for receiving prophecies.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah asserted that if the prophet receives prophecy about Ghana becoming like Malaysia, Singapore or South Korea, then come see me.

The Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations is quoted by GH ONE TV to have said, “Enough of your death prophecies, my office isn’t for receiving prophecies”.

“I’m praying for the day our prophets and seers will have a vision of a Ghana that is transformed and prosperous. If you have any prophecy about Ghana becoming like Malaysia, Singapore or South Korea, then come see me”.

He had earlier revealed that they had received plenty of new prophecies, which are undergoing review.

According to Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, his office has received a lot of prophecies.

Speaking to the media, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah stated, “We have received plenty, oh my goodness, there is somebody who is a dedicated volunteer. I don’t want to give numbers, but it is plenty, believe me. It should be more than 200. Like I said, I don’t want to play the numbers game”.

He further justified the government’s decision to receive and review prophecies about the nation.

The presidential envoy emphasised that about 70–80% of prophecies have no substance, but the 20 per cent deserved some probe.

Afriyie Ankrah detailed, “By and large, 70–80% is of no substance. Then you look at the rest of the 20% and you sift through, and maybe 2–3–5% may deserve some further probe. It’s not a full-time job or an office set up solely to receive prophecies; that’s not how it works.”

“If you say a Ghana Air Force plane is going to crash, whichever way, it’s a security matter. Those specific ones, we are saying, don’t put it out there in a raw form that will create problems. We’ve created a WhatsApp platform and an email address. Send it to us, and then we will review,” he said.

He further added, “Testing means there is room for review, to assess and evaluate, because some will definitely be chaff. There’s a lot that is completely bogus and will be discarded. But there may be a few that have some substance.”

According to Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, it was not set up solely to receive and review prophecies.

He added, “I got my appointment letter about two weeks ago. People didn’t know about the office, so when the statement came out, maybe some thought an office had been set up solely to collect prophecies. That’s why you saw all those memes. But the office is meant to coordinate with all religious bodies, Christian, Muslim, and others, to help foster unity and oneness in the country.”

He further emphasised the importance of his work, adding that religion plays a dominant role in Ghanaian life.

“If you look at the last population census, the religious community constitutes over 90% of the population. They are critical in society. Governance is about protecting and advancing the interests of citizens, and faith is part of our social reality”.

We won’t disappoint you if you vote NDC to win the Akwatia seat – Julius Debrah assures

0

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has assured the Oseawuohene that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not disappoint them if they vote for them to win the Akwatia by-election.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah led a high-powered delegation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to storm the Akwatia ahead of the by-election.

The NDC bigwigs, led by Julius Debrah, visited the Oseawuo Division of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional State in the Eastern Region.

Julius Debrah’s delegation consisted of George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organiser, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the former NDC National Chairman and Ambassador Victor Smith, among others.

They introduce Bernard Bediako Baidoo Esq, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election, to the Chief of Akyem Wenchi Daasebre Dr. Assumadu Nyarko Appiah.

Also, with over a week to go, the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party and other contenders are busily on the grounds of the Akwatia constituency ahead highly anticipated by-election.

The campaign activities have surged in recent days, with parliamentary candidates’ executives holding rallies, health walks, town hall meetings and door-to-door campaigns to woo voters.

The NPP is seeking to retain the seat following the demise of their Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi, leaving the seat vacant.

However, the NDC, on the other hand, is mounting a challenge with a better representation for Akwatia.

Also, the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of ten suspects and the confiscation of nine weapons in a security operation ahead of the Akwatia by-election.

Reports indicate the weapon consists of a pump-action gun and one locally manufactured single-barreled gun.

The weapons were seized by the Eastern South Regional Police Command in a series of snap checks and targeted operations.

In a series of operations, the Police on August 22, 2025, near the St. Dominic Hospital, intercepted a vehicle driven by Bernard Kumi Ofosu.

A  Tulpar double-barrel pump-action gun, four AAA live cartridges, and two blank cartridges were recovered. The suspect produced a licence for the firearm, but is still in custody.

Joshua Amenuku was also arrested at the Akwatia Y-Junction snap check with officers finding 15 live BB cartridges on him, with Police checks at his home finding a Tulpar pump-action gun and more cartridges.

On that same day, Enoch Asiedu and Lu Youyan, a Chinese national, were arrested at the Boadua Livingstone checkpoint.

Pieterson Joseph was arrested on August 23 at the Boadua Livingstone Junction with a pump-action gun and 46 cartridges in his car.

Also, one Stephen Nkansah was arrested after he was intercepted in a Toyota Tundra pickup with registration WR 5535-13 was intercepted with search uncovered three pump-action guns.

In addition, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has already served notice that anyone who comes with arms during the Akwatia by-election will be dealt with by the Police.

The IGP assured the public of the Ghana Police Service’s readiness to provide a safe Akwatia by-election.

IGP Yohuno gave the assurance after the Police Management Board (POMAB) visited the High-Risk Operation Training Centre at Akyerematen on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

According to the IGP, the Ghana Police Service is prepared to safeguard voters, electoral officers, political parties, and the media.

Speaking to recruits at the Police Training School at Kyerematen in the Eastern Region, IGP Yohonu stated, “During the Akwatia by-election, if you come with arms, we (Police) will deal with you with arms.

We have brought men here, and they are trained on how to handle arms. As we are going to the election ground, we decided to come and sharpen our skills for the by-election.

Today, they will move to Akwatia and assess all the threats just to let the country know that we are ready for the election, and all the threats we hear from social media have given us the room to prepare and to remove fear for the electorate in Akwatia that nobody can come here to cause any trouble,” he said.

He added, “We want to assure Ghanaians that the police is ready to handle any type of thing that may come in Akwatia. We are ready with the men. We have the men who can handle this situation, and then our eyes are red for Akwatia and nobody, nobody should think of coming to cause trouble”.

“No political party should mobilise men to come and foment trouble, and nobody should have in mind the intention of snatching a ballot box. We have prepared our men adequately to handle this situation, and that, I informed the political parties as I met them yesterday [Tuesday],” he explained.

Shatta Wale could face a prison sentence over Lamborghini Urus – Lawyer

Legal expert Kwadwo Ofori Dankwah has warned that the Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, could face a prison sentence over the Lamborghini Urus.

According to him, under the Criminal Act 29, if one is found receiving stolen items, the suspect could face a similar punishment as the person who committed the theft.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo,  Lawyer Kwadwo Ofori Dankwah detailed, “Under the Criminal Act 29, sections 146, 147, and 148 address the issues of possession of stolen property, receiving stolen goods dishonestly, and dishonestly possessing stolen items. The law states that if you are found guilty of any of these offenses, the penalties can be similar to those faced by the person who actually committed the theft.

“For instance, if someone steals a car and another person buys it knowing it was obtained illegally, both could face similar prison sentences. In this context, Shatta Wale could potentially be brought before the criminal court for charges related to dishonestly receiving and possessing stolen property, along with additional issues related to tax evasion,” a legal expert explained.

He further added that Ghana risk a travel ban if an influential person tries to get these charges dismissed.

“I do not think that any influential individual would try to intervene to dismiss these charges easily. If someone attempts to do so, there is a risk of a travel ban being imposed, which would restrict them to staying only in Ghana,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shatta Wale, has performed a spiritual bath following his release from Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) custody.

Shatta Wale’s spiritual cleansing was led by Teshie Gbuglah Mantse, Original Nii Martey Laryea I.

The spiritual cleansing is believed to get rid of any negative energy or spiritual burden following his recent legal issues.

Shatta Wale was released from EOCO custody on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Shatta Wale was released after fulfilling revised bail conditions.

His earlier bail condition was set at GHC10 million bail with two sureties.

Cephas Boyuo, Shatta Wale’s lawyer, confirmed that the bail amount of GH₵10 million has been reduced to GH₵5 million with two sureties.

As part of the bail conditions, Shatta Wale is expected to report to EOCO three times a week.

Shatta Wale, upon returning home in a live video, stated, “I want to say thank you to my management team… Everybody has been supportive with this, and to you, the fans, I owe you a beautiful concert one of these days because you guys have been supportive”.

“I heard some of you came there from morning, and you didn’t want to leave, but as you have seen my video, you should know Shatta is safe, your king is safe, One Don is safe. I am home now, and I want to say a big thank you for supporting me, for being around me in times like this, because I needed you guys the most. You guys are the ones that hold me down,” he added.

Shatta Wale further thanked the staff of EOCO for their professionalism.

He added, “To all the staff of EOCO, you guys have been wonderful. At least I came there, you guys really took me through the rightful processes that were needed and I just want to say God bless you”

“To Mr. Raymond Archer, I just want to tell you I thank you so much for your understanding. I thank you so much for cooperating.”

Meanwhile, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced that Ghanaian Dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, does not have any documentation to prove ownership of the Lamborghini Urus.

EOCO also revealed the artist has failed to identify who he purchased the Lamborghini Urus from.

According to EOCO, Shatta Wale’s documents in his possession show the Lamborghini Urus is in the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail.

In a statement released by EOCO on Thursday August 21, 2025 stated, “So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus except to say that he bought it from the “street” and from someone possibly called “ZAK,” who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.

So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah also does not possess any documentation in terms of receipt or transfer documents which show that he owns or purchased the said vehicle, except a customs declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail”, he added.

The EOCO statement also revealed that the  2019 Lamborghini Urus has been identified by the FBI and the US Justice Department as proceeds of a $14 million crime involving one Nana Kwabena Amuah.

However, Shatta Wale had previously, in a TikTok live session, claimed he bought his luxury Lamborghini Urus $150,000.

Shatta Wale stated, “I bought the Lamborghini for $150,000 and didn’t know it was from Adu Boahene. I’m leaving the car for you people, don’t come to my house, and let nobody invite me.”

“Raymond Archer, I will leave the car for you people. Don’t come to my house. Don’t let anybody invite me. That’s why I have bought a new Lamborghini,” he fumed.

Protect Basintale’s natural street-mobilising talent – Vormawor tells NDC

0

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the private legal practitioner and activist, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to protect Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) natural street-mobilising talent.

According to Vormawor, the appointment of Malik Baintale to a bureaucratic role was a strategic blunder.

He noted that Basintale has been a revelation for the NDC during the run-up to the 2024 elections by earning street credibility and mobilising the youths.

In a post on X, Vormawor wrote, “I have been thinking of writing this post for a while. I haven’t found the right time to do so. It’s been a busy few weeks. But yesterday’s events at PAC and the comments by the Chair has precipitated it. Because it is precisely everything i recommend against.

Now, i know that for non-deep thinkers, this might be taken as a controversial take. But when have I ever not tried to think outside, in fact, against the box?

I think that Malik Basintale’s appointment as a bureaucrat was perhaps one of the least strategic decisions the NDC has ever made”.

He added, “It doesn’t matter where anyone sits; we can all agree that Malik has been a revelation. Particularly in the run in towards the election. Great street credibility with mobilising enthusiasm.

The challenge with most political parties is that as soon as they get into government, they begin to crumble into managerial and bureaucratic speak. They begin to see the tsooboi as the task of opposition candidates. They start to think facts and figures only is what drives credibility. No! It never has”.

Vormawor asserted that the Basintale boy should have been kept from outside Government and given a full-time job to mobilise support for the NDC 24/7.

He added, “Malik should have been kept outside the Goverment. His full-time job should have been deploying him accross the country to continue to rally young people behind the government and government policies. He should have been supported and resourced to continue to rally up the base. 24/7.

That’s how you build a mass political party! You don’t let up, or lull for a moment.

Now, it is true that in the process, Malik would have been built a massive national profile. He would become extremely popular. Jerry Rawlings-esque, almost. For me, that’s exciting. I know for some people, that would be threatening to their personal political ambitions”.

Vormawor further detailed, “But think about it. A barely 30-year-old young man supported to build massive enthusiasm for the party is a long-term win. So it allows it to build a platform for the presidency? And so what?

Unfortunately, the NDC has taken its foot off the pedal. Its massive mobilisation infrastructure is now demobilised. Young men line up their party offices with half-literate half half-formatted CVs; they will never get.

Malik sits in Accra sorting between Zoomlion contracts and per diem allowances. His true talent was wasted; shelved to be deployed just a few months to the elections. When it is too late”.

He further cited the Ashanti Regional Minister’s work so far in the region, “See what Dr Frank Amoakohene is doing in Ashanti? That’s the energy (x 16) you need to maintain generational enthusiasm.

This is why Nkrumah was different. The CPP never stopped mobilising. They defined high-energy politics. This is why they won elections by a landslide always”.

Vormawor boldly urged the NDC to get Malik Basintale back to the streets with a budget to mobilise the base 24/7.

His comments come after Malik Basintale faced the Public Accounts Committee on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Meanwhile, PAC Chair Abena Osei Asare commends YEA CEO Malik Basintale for his prompt and dedicated embrace of public service, demonstrating commitment to serving all Ghanaians.

Abena Osei Asare stated, “Sometimes it is good to taste power; your language and everything change. It is not all about tsooboi; rather, it is about serving your people with diligence, respect, and humility.

I am glad you have embraced that public service role so quickly”, she added.

Akwatia is a “no weapon” zone during upcoming by-election – Small Arms Commission

0

The National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA) has warned politicians, party leaders and the public that anyone found with a weapon during the Akwatia by-election will be arrested and prosecuted.

On Sunday, in a statement issued by the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA), emphasised that improvised weapons, tasers, pepper spray, knives, and machetes pose a threat to peace and stability of Ghana electoral process.

The statement noted, “Anyone found with any form of weapon will be promptly arrested and prosecuted”.

The Small Arms Commission called on politicians and party leaders to set an example by urging their supporters to express their political choices peacefully and lawfully.

“The use of arms or threats of violence must never be tolerated as a means of gaining political advantage”, the statement added.

In a related Akwatia by-election news, the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of ten suspects and the confiscation of nine weapons in a security operation ahead of the Akwatia by-election.

Mahama’s use of a commercial flight poses no security threat – Security Analyst

0

Andrews Asiedu Tetteh, a Security analyst, has said President John Mahama’s use of a commercial flight poses no security threat.

The security analyst detailed that, aviation industry prioritises the safety, security, and comfort of travellers.

According to him,  the President’s security details are allowed to conduct a security sweep on the commercial flight before the president even boards the plane.

Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, “No. To a large extent, no. One of the most secure areas in terms of security has to do with the aviation industry. The aviation industry prioritises the safety, security, and comfort of travellers. To even get on board a commercial flight, a lot of things go on.

Apart from the searches conducted, several other security measures take place behind the scenes without your knowledge”.

He added that “if a president is going on board, his security is allowed to conduct security checks before the President gets on board the plane. These security checks are done even way ahead before the President boards the plane.”

Security analyst also noted that President John Mahama will have the final authority in determining whether Ghana need a new presidential jet based on his safety or any other reasons.

Ghana’s Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet was purchased in 2009 and arrived in the country in 2010 has been a topical issue following the August 6 tragedy.

The presidential jet replaced a 37-year-old Foker 27 aircraft, which was regarded as a flying coffin.

His comments come following President Mahama’s use of a commercial Emirates flight during his trip to Japan.

The Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet has since been grounded at the Dassault Falcon Service facility in Le Bourget, France, due to massive wear and tear issues.

In 2021, the former Akufo-Addo government sought to purchase a new and bigger jet for the Presidency, but faced public backlash over accusations of extravagant travels by Akufo-Addo.

Also, Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) New Juaben North Constituency Chairman, has said the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, told President John Dramani Mahama the presidential jet was a coffin.

According to Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, the late Omane Boamah pointed blankly warned Mahama about Ghana’s presidential jet as not safe.

Speaking on Atinka TV, Boateng-Agyemang stated, “I will never join the conversation about buying a new private jet. Look at what has happened regarding the crash; my family member was involved. I don’t want to make it emotional, but the truth is, they refused to service the aircraft because of what they had said”.

“The report from Omane Boamah to the president was clear. He told him point-blank that the jet Okudzeto Ablakwa was making noise about, when former President Akufo-Addo was using it, was not safe. He said if Mahama sits in it, he, Omane Boamah, would not because the jet was a coffin”,  Boateng-Agyemang claimed.

He further alleged that the Z9 Helicopter that crashed on August 6, 2025, was due for servicing.

He added, “If President Mahama says my cousin never warned him, he should come out and deny it. But if he does, my brother’s ghost will haunt him forever. The truth is that the jet that crashed was due for servicing, which was going to cost the nation 12 million euros”.

Also, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has called on all political actors to stop playing politics with the procurement of presidential planes and helicopters.

According to the Asantehene, lives are at stake, and Ghana must ensure the safety and efficiency of the president and its personnel in the security service.

Raymond Archer vs Daniel McKorly – A personal and political showdown of power

0

It begins like a tale of two men who climbed different ladders to power.

One was a firebrand journalist with a nose for corruption, the other a hustler at the port who turned cargo into an empire.

Their names? Raymond Archer and Daniel “McDan” McKorley. What started as an ambition soon unravelled into one of Ghana’s fiercest business rivalries.

Raymond Archer was once feared in the corridors of power. His newspaper, The Enquirer, dug deep into political scandals, earning him loyal readers and bitter enemies. But Archer wanted more than headlines.

He built factories at the Ghana Trade Fair Centre, pouring millions into packaging and labels. For a moment, it seemed journalism had given birth to an industry.

Meanwhile, Daniel McKorley was writing a different script. Starting small in freight forwarding, he founded McDan Shipping in 1999. The gamble paid off. His company grew across Africa, adding aviation, logistics, and even salt mining.

By the 2010s, McDan wasn’t just a businessman; he was a symbol of what grit—and political connections—could achieve in Ghana.

In February 2020, Archer’s world came crashing down—literally. Bulldozers rolled into the Trade Fair site, flattening his factories in the dead of night. Machines worth millions were reduced to rubble.

Management said tenants had overstayed their contracts. Archer called it an ambush. In the background, whispers linked McDan to the exercise. The press had its villain.

Months later, McKorley was appointed Board Chairman of the Ghana Trade Fair Company. To Archer’s supporters, this was proof of orchestration, that the bulldozers had a businessman’s fingerprints.

To McDan’s allies, it was politics as usual. Either way, suspicion deepened. Ghana’s business arena was no longer just about contracts—it was about control.

Fast forward to April 2025. Archer resurfaces, not as a publisher or industrialist, but as Acting Director of EOCO—the agency empowered to investigate and prosecute economic crime.

The timing felt cinematic. A man who lost his fortune at the hands of the state now wielded the state’s sharpest sword. The city buzzed with one question: would Archer settle old scores?

Even before Archer’s comeback, McDan was facing headwinds. In late 2024, Ghana Airports shut down his jet terminal over millions in alleged arrears. McDan disputed the figures, blaming bureaucratic tricks and politics.

For a man who built his empire on flight and freight, the grounding was more than business—it was a dent in the aura of invincibility.

By July 2025, the feud reached a new theatre. A McDan warehouse at Spintax was demolished by National Security, officially for aviation safety reasons. But the timing was suspicious. Archer had just taken charge of EOCO. The opposition cried vendetta. The government said enforcement. And ordinary Ghanaians shook their heads—was this justice or just revenge?

Julius Debrah – A rise from defeat to flagbearer ambition

0

Julius Debrah, a grassroots NDC loyalist from Obomeng Kwahu, holds a degree in Archaeology and Sociology from the University of Ghana.

He rose from business and tourism into national politics through resilience and strategy. Calm but sharp, he earned respect for linking local communities to national goals.

As he eyes the 2028 NDC flagbearership, his grassroots appeal is his strength, but uniting a divided party will test his political skill.

Julius Debrah’s political baptism was one of defeat, shaping his tenacity. In 2000, he contested the Suhum parliamentary seat for the NDC, securing 41.2% but losing to the NPP’s Ransford Agyapong. Undeterred, he ran again in 2004, improving to 43.5% yet falling to Frederick Opare-Ansah.

The closest blow came in 2012, when he lost by a mere 388 votes to Opare-Ansah, despite earning 48.49%—a painful reminder of Suhum’s NPP stronghold.

Debrah’s first major breakthrough came under President Atta Mills’ administration. Appointed CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority in 2009, he led the transition from the Ghana Tourist Board to the Authority through Act 817 in 2011. modernising the sector and promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage globally.

His vision of tourism as a driver of growth and community empowerment gained national attention, leading to his appointment as Eastern Regional Minister in 2013, and shortly after, Greater Accra Regional Minister.

By May 2014, Julius Debrah became Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, where he championed decentralisation and grassroots decision-making as keys to national progress. He strengthened local governance structures, linking them to goals like infrastructure development and poverty reduction, while earning praise from traditional leaders and rural voters for his calm, results-driven style. Yet, his push for decentralisation met resistance from power brokers within the NDC, exposing tensions and hinting at future betrayals.

In 2015, Julius Debrah was appointed Chief of Staff under Mahama, steering the NDC through economic troubles and corruption scandals. The party’s 2016 election defeat marked a low point, with Debrah blamed for missteps and stepping down in 2017. Though criticised for the loss and internal disunity, he stayed loyal to Mahama and quietly worked to rebuild trust within the party.

The NDC’s 2016 defeat unleashed a wave of betrayals. As Mahama’s administration crumbled, some allies abandoned ship, eyeing their own political futures under the NPP’s dominance. Debrah stood firm, refusing to betray Mahama.

From 2017 to 2024, he worked tirelessly in the shadows, rallying NDC’s base and rebuilding its image. His efforts were pivotal in Mahama’s 2024 comeback, a historic return that stunned the NPP.

Debrah’s loyalty earned him the moniker “the one who stayed,” a badge of honour in a party rife with opportunism. Yet, this loyalty came at a cost—some within the NDC viewed his closeness to Mahama as a liability, fearing he lacked the independence to lead.

Reappointed Chief of Staff in January 2025, Debrah returned with purpose. Under Mahama’s second term, he played a key role in stabilising the government post-2024. His efforts in the Akwatia by-election, engaging traditional leaders, bolstered NDC candidates and showcased his grassroots clout.

Debrah’s clean record—no scandals, just service—sets him apart in a political landscape often marred by corruption. His experience spans tourism reform, regional administration, and executive oversight, making him a versatile leader. Yet, his return hasn’t been without friction. Some NDC factions question his influence, seeing him as too tied to Mahama.

Whispers of Debrah’s 2028 flagbearership bid are now a roar. Groups like Citizen Eye Ghana hail him as “strategic and unifying,” citing his unblemished record and grassroots appeal. His journey from Suhum’s electoral losses to Chief of Staff shows a leader forged in adversity. Yet, the path is fraught.

Rivals like Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Haruna Iddrisu, and Eric Opoku are formidable, each with their own loyalists. Debrah’s strength lies in his ability to bridge divides, but the NDC’s competitive primaries demand more than loyalty. His increased social media presence signals a calculated campaign, but early jockeying has sparked tensions. Some see him as the natural successor to Mahama; others view him as too cautious, lacking the charisma of flashier contenders.

The NDC is a cauldron of ambition, and Debrah’s 2028 bid stirs it. Public snubs and subtle digs from rivals like Asiedu Nketia hint at strained relations. The party’s chairman, a political titan, commands a loyal following, making him a formidable foe. Other contenders, like Iddrisu and Opoku, add complexity, each vying for the flagbearership.

Debrah’s calm demeanour, once an asset, now faces scrutiny—can he unify a party splintered by personal agendas? His history as a consensus-builder, from tourism to local governance, suggests he can.

Yet, the NDC’s internal politics is a minefield, where loyalty is often trumped by power plays. Debrah’s ability to navigate these tensions will define his candidacy.

In a political arena often tainted by scandal, Debrah’s clean record shines. No corruption allegations, no ethical lapses—just a career of service. From revitalising tourism to strengthening local governance, his achievements are tangible.

As Chief of Staff, he’s avoided the traps that ensnared others, maintaining a reputation for integrity. His grassroots appeal, rooted in years of engaging communities, makes him a candidate for the people, not just the elite. Yet, this very strength draws scepticism—some NDC insiders see his lack of flash as a weakness in a charisma-driven race.

The path to 2028 is a gauntlet. Debrah faces a crowded field—Asiedu Nketia, Iddrisu, and Opoku—all with strong bases. The NDC’s unity hangs in the balance, as personal ambitions threaten to fracture the party. Debrah’s losses in Suhum taught him resilience; his wins in tourism and governance, strategy.

His role in Mahama’s 2024 comeback proves he can deliver under pressure. Yet, the flagbearership race demands more—a vision to inspire, a plan to unite. Debrah’s grassroots networks and clean record give him an edge, but rivals exploit his ties to Mahama, painting him as a loyalist, not a leader.

His challenge is to redefine his image while maintaining loyalty.

Akufo-Addo’s double-track negatively impacted the quality of education – Haruna Iddrisu

0

Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, has said the former government’s double-track system in Senior High Schools (SHSs) negatively affected the quality of education.

The Education Minister noted that the double-track system reduced contact hours and study time for students in the Senior High School.

Speaking at a media briefing on Sunday, August  24, 2025, Haruna Iddrisu stated, “The double-track system has impacted negatively on the quality and outcomes of education under the Free SHS policy. Students have fewer contact hours and less study time, which affects their performance.

“Government’s commitment to ending the system can only be realised at three levels: expanding infrastructure, strengthening digital resources in schools, and allowing private SHSs to absorb qualified students to ease the pressure,” he said at a media briefing.

Also, Haruna Iddrisu has announced that an eleven-member committee to guide the reversal from double-track to single-track has been set up.

The committee has been tasked to review the 2024/2025 academic calendar and propose a roadmap for a single-track.

The committee includes,

Prof. Godwin Awabil, University of Cape Coast (UCC)

Prof. Samuel A. Atintono, PRINCOF

Prof. Smile Gavua Dzisi (Mrs.), Deputy Director-General (Management Service), GES

Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Deputy Director-General (Quality and Access), GES

D. W. Agbenyo, WAEC

Rosemond Wilson (PhD), WAEC

Mr. Augustus Agyemfra, CODE

Mr. David Odjidja, CHASS

Addo Nicholas Nii Kpakpoe, COHBS

Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Schools & Instructions Division, GES

Meanwhile, Haruna Iddrisu, some months ago, revealed that the John Mahama government is taking all the necessary steps to ensure that the Double-Track system at the Senior High School level is phased out by 2027.

The sector minister revealed they are working on a revised curriculum If the government is to succeed in ending the double-track system.

Speaking in an engagement with members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) at a meeting held in Sunyani in the Bono Region, Haruna Iddrisu stated, “We are working to revise the curriculum…If the government is to succeed in ending the double-track system, not later than Monday, you should have a board so that all expenditures are properly approved by the board.

“We expect that by the year 2027, the double-track system will be a thing of the past,” he added.

However, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, a former Deputy Education Minister, has warned the NDC against cancelling the double track system under the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

According to him, the double-track system was implemented under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government to ease pressure on the limited infrastructure in Senior High Schools.

He indicated that abolishing the double-track system would result in over 500,000 students being unable to go to school.

“Abolishing the double-track system would mean sending 500,000 students home. Our current infrastructure can only support 1 million out of the 1.5 million students,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that senior high schools across the country will reopen in October for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The 2025/2026 academic year will be a single-track and a modified double-track system being referred to as the transitional academic calendars.

The single-track system first-year and second-year students are to report on October 18, 2025, with the third-year students reporting on October 11, 2025.

The first term will run till February 27, 2026, with Christmas break being set from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026.  Also,  the second term will run from May 4, 2026, and close on August 21, 2026.

In addition, the double track operating the transitional calendar will have first-year reporting on October 18, 2025, and third-year students returning on October 27, 2025.

The second term is expected to start from January 5, 2026, with a five-week online learning period before fully resuming in May.

Embattled Wontumi TV presenter denied bail once again

0

The Accra High Court has once again rejected a bail application from the legal team of Wontumi TV presenter Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare.

Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare has been remanded into custody, following his appearance before an Accra High Court today, August 25, 2025, over allegations of the President’s involvement in the GAF Z9 helicopter crash.

The case has subsequently been adjourned until August 27, 2025.

Akyemkwaa Nana Kofi Asare was arrested on August 12 over allegations claiming President John Mahama had a hand in the GAF Z9 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians.

Speaking in a viral video while being escorted back into custody, Akyemkwaa Nana Kofi Asare stated, We are strong, we are still strong, the elephant is strong, I am strong, we are stronger than apartheid. I’m the hero”.

It was earlier reported that Akyemkwa Nana Kofi Asare was allegedly abducted by unknown armed men.

Reports suggest Akyemkwa Nana Kofi Asare was whisked away in a dramatic “Rambo-style” operation.

Eyewitnesses say the assailants, heavily armed, arrived in unmarked vehicles, firing warning shots all over, forcibly picked up the journalist, and sped off without revealing their identities or intentions.

Akyemkwa Nana Kofi Asare, after the tragic Helicopter crash on August 6, which claimed eight lives, boldly stated that President John Mahama could be held accountable for the accident.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Akyemkwa Nana Kofi Asare stated, “Mahama should be held accountable; he is aware of everything. Asiedu Nketia should be asked why he said he would not attend the event but delegated responsibility to Samuel Sarpong.

The document was also given to Fiifi Kwetey to go, and he also refused, asking the NDC’s first vice, Samuel Sarpong, to attend instead.”

He further claimed, “Another instance, the plane was there, the delegates and protocols were on board, and Ato Forson pulled out Muntaka for a meeting, is it madness?

Eight people’s husbands, fathers, and you are telling us this nonsense to believe”.

In addition, the Wontumi TV issued a public apology to President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the general public over recent comments made by one of our on-air presenters, alleging that the President had a hand in the recent tragic military helicopter crash.

Wontumi TV statement read, “The management of Wontumi TV wishes to inform the general public that comments made by our presenter, Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, on Saturday, 9th August 2025, do not in any way represent the views, position, or policy of Wontumi TV.

We acknowledge that the statement was inappropriate, unfounded, and contrary to our station’s values of professionalism, accuracy, and fairness in broadcasting. The remarks were made without evidence and do not reflect the views, policies, or editorial position of Wontumi TV”.

The statement added, “As a responsible media house, we deeply regret the distress and reputational harm this may have caused to the President, the NDC, and the affected families.

We wish to assure our cherished audience and the public that immediate steps are being taken to address the matter. Disciplinary action will be taken against the presenter in question, and we have reinforced our editorial guidelines to ensure that all on-air personalities speak only to verified facts and credible records”.

“Wontumi TV remains committed to upholding the highest standards of journalism and ethical broadcasting. We will continue to provide our viewers with accurate, balanced, and respectful content at all times.

We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident and call for unity and sensitivity in discussing matters of national grief”, the statement concluded.

However, a management member of Wontumi Radio in Accra, Gordon Asare Bediako, has said Wontumi Multimedia has not issued any apology to President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

NPP’s National Chairman has gone into hiding after defeat – Asiedu Nketia jabs

0

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has hilariously jabbed the New Patriotic Party (NPP )’s National Chairman Stephen Ntim.

According to John Asiedu Nketia, Stephen Ntim has gone into hiding after the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 defeats.

During the final funeral rites of the acting national deputy security coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, a representative of the King of Mamprusi announced Asiedu Nketia as the NPP National Chairman.

Speaking at the final funeral rites, Asiedu Nketiah, although the Mamprusi king’s representative corrected his mistake, stated, “Let me gladly accept the honour conferred on me as the Acting National Chairman of NPP by His Majesty, the representative of the King of Mamprusi. He is our grandfather, so I cannot reject the title that is conferred on me.”

Asideu Nketia further aimed a dig at the NPP’s National Chairman, who he claimed has gone into hiding after the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

“It is fitting and proper because the NPP National Chairman comes from my place. We are brothers. Unfortunately, after their friendly defeat, he’s gone into hiding,” he remarked.

Asiedu Nketia further urged the NPP to come to him for advice to help them get out of their problems.

“If there is somebody who should take care of his in his absence, I have accepted that responsibility. And so, my brothers (NPP), if you need any advice as to how to get out of your problems, you can come to your brother. I will be acting until my brother comes back to acting for the days or you find a fitting replacement,” he said to more laughter from the gathering”, he added.

However, it must be noted that the National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, is family in June 16, 2025, issued a statement raising concerns over his current condition.

The letter, signed by the family members, including Kingsley Oteng (Family Head), Adelaide Ntim (MP), and other close relatives, stated, “We, the family members of Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, bring you warm greetings.

To begin with, we can all attest to Mr. Stephen Ntim’s lifetime commitment and dedication to The New Patriotic Party for decades, rising through the ranks from 1st National Deputy Chairman to his distinguished service as the current Nationa Chairman, as demonstrated by his genteel but very assertive leadership style, his enthusiasm to his job and his sheer love for this great party.

At this juncture, we the family members of Mr Stephen Ntim have learned that the party has convened a meeting scheduled to be chaired by Mr Ntim and we would like our beloved son, brother, nephew and relative, Stephen Ntim, to be excused from attendance of this event, due to recent developments on his health and well being beginning from today 16th, June 2025.

Although not official, it is well known that Mr. Ntim is not well at the moment, and his condition requires time off from active professional activities in the interest of medical attention and monitoring for the time being

Therefore, in compliance with his professional medical advice and in cognisance of his demanding office, we, the family members, do hereby request that Mr Ntim be temporarily excused, not only from active office duty but also from outright party politics until further notice”, the family stated.

They added, “This is the resolution from the recent extended family meeting. Common sense dictates that Steve, as a matter of urgency, be temporarily excused, not only from the rigours of active politics but from intra-party activities in order to make way for needed peace and solace and for concentration on the ongoing required medical treatment process”.

Asideu Nketia further took a jab at the NPP’s National Chairman, who he claimed has gone into hiding after the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

“It is fitting and proper because the NPP National Chairman comes from my place. We are brothers. Unfortunately, after their friendly defeat, he’s gone into hiding,” he remarked.

He added, “If there is somebody who should take care of his in his absence, I have accepted that responsibility. And so, my brothers (NPP), if you need any advice as to how to get out of your problems, you can come to your brother. I will be acting until my brother comes back to acting for the days or you find a fitting replacement,” he said to more laughter from the gathering.

Also, Asiedu Nketia at the event added that the NDC and government would have reversed the tragic August 6 helicopter crash if it were within their power.

He added, “If there was anything that the NDC, both in party and in government, could do to reverse this tragedy, it could have been done,” he stated. “But unfortunately, nothing we do can bring back Honourable Limuna.”

“What we must concentrate on is to make sure the family he left behind is catered for… That is why His Excellency the President directed the establishment of a fund to take care of the families of the victims of the August 6 disaster,” he added.

Meanwhile, the final six of the August 6  helicopter crash victims were laid to rest on August 15, 2025.

The solemn state funeral was held at the Black Star Square in Accra.

Contest me with visions and ideas, not on tribal or religious propaganda – Dr Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has urged his rivals for the NPP 2028 flagbearership to contest him with their visions and ideas.

His comments come on the back of  Dr Bryan Acheampong, a flagbearer hopeful, who attributed the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 presidential election to the tribe of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

However, a statement released from the campaign office of Dr Bryan Acheampong has cautioned the public against mischief.

According to them, Dr Bryan Acheampong’s message was not about division.

“Dr Acheampong has not, at any point, blamed former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict. His comments in the original video clearly stated that Dr Bawumia was a victim of circumstances, not a cause of division”, the report stated.

“Dr Acheampong’s message is clear: the NPP must unite around a winning strategy and candidate. His vision is to position the NPP for decisive victory in 2028 and to govern with the strength and clarity needed to resolve the deep-rooted issues holding communities and the nation back”, the report added.

Meanwhile, a new poll released by Global Info Analytics on August 21, 2025, shows the former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is the leading candidate ahead of the party’s primaries in January 2026.

The Global Info Analytics shows Dr Mahamudu Bawumia running away with a commanding 52% lead, with his closest contender, Kennedy Agyapong, the former Assin Central MP, with 17%.

Dr Bryan Acheampong polled 3%, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former Education Minister, polled 1%.

Kwabena Agyapong, former General Secretary, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo all polling less than 1%.

However, 10% of delegates remain undecided, with 9% declining to disclose their choice.

Samira’s identity was never questioned when she was campaigning for NPP – Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and 2024 NPP flagbearer, has replied to some NPP members who are claiming his wife, Samira Bawumia, is not a true Ghanaian.

Speaking at the NPP New York 33rd Anniversary on Sunday, August 24, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia questioned, “When Samira was campaigning the length and breadth of Ghana for the party, they did not say she was not a true Ghanaian.

NPP lost our seats because of Bawumia’s tribe – Dr Bryan Acheampong

0

Dr Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has said the party lost all its seats in the 2024 election because of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s tribe.

He cited former President John Agyekum Kufuor and Akufo-Addo’s getting votes from the Kusasi, but Bawumia’s belonging to one side of the divide led to the NPP losing votes with the Kusasi’s.

“Politics remains the number one obstacle to Ghana’s Rule of Law” – Prof Prempeh tackles Sam George

0

Professor H Kwasi Prempeh, the Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC), has tackled the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, after his immediate suspension of the enforcement exercise on unlicensed delivery riders.

The exercise was being carried out by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC) and the Ghana Police against unlicensed delivery riders.

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, Sam George announced the directive to be halted in a post on X, which raised public concern after a viral video captured chaotic scenes.

Angry delivery riders clashed with PCSRC officials at the National Theatre in Accra over the seizure of their motorcycles.

According to Sam George, the exercise is consistent with Ghana’s existing laws regulating the use of motorbikes for courier services, but he asserted that the enforcement must be accompanied by wider stakeholder and public sensitisation.

Sam George, in his post, stated, “I have directed this afternoon an immediate halt to the ongoing enforcement action by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission.

The action, in conjunction with the Ghana Police, is necessary to bring sanity and order to the use of motorbikes for delivery purposes as stipulated by law. However, I believe the Commission needs to do more stakeholder engagements and public education before resuming enforcement. We must enforce the law with a humane face to it”.

However, Professor H Kwasi Prempeh, in a Facebook post, noted that Politics remains the number one obstacle in Ghana’s Rule of Law culture.

According to Prof  Prempeh, what is the point of setting up a regulatory body with the authority to regulate, for a minister or a politician to simply issue directives to halt their actions?

He further questioned whether Sam George had the power to give such an order.

In a Facebook post on August 23, 2025, “What is the point of setting up a regulatory body with the authority to regulate and enforce a regime of measures and related sanctions in a designated industry if the minister or some other politician can simply issue directives to countermand an enforcement action by the regulator? Does the applicable law give him the power summarily to countermand the regulator’s enforcement action this way?

“Why have the regulator at all then? Ordinarily, the minister would be limited to issuing policy directives in writing, not intervening in the regulator’s work on a case-by-case basis”, he added.

“This is the appropriate division of labour or ‘separation of powers’ between politician and regulator. Once a Minister intervenes improperly this way, the regulator is effectively rendered useless. Politics remains the number one obstacle to building a Rule of Law culture in this town. We are the ultimate victims and losers!”Prof Prempeh wrote.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC) arrested about 150 unlicensed courier operators in Accra following efforts to sanitise Ghana’s fast-growing courier and logistics sector.

According to the regulators, many arrested were operating through ride-hailing platforms without proper vehicle registration, with others running independent delivery services without the required licenses.

The regulators revealed that the courier operators not only evade taxes but also pose consumer protection risks and security.

They added that operators had been given a two-month grace period to fulfil licensing requirements, but majority of them failed to meet the deadline

“Because of the delivery services they are offering, the law mandates them to come for that license. Section 10 of the Act makes it a criminal offence to operate delivery services without a license from the Commission,” he stated.

“No political party should mobilise men to come and foment trouble, and nobody should have in mind the intention of snatching a ballot box. We have prepared our men adequately to handle this situation, and that, I informed the political parties as I met them yesterday [Tuesday],” he explained.

Meanwhile, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also known as Nana B, has revealed the party will protect itself in the upcoming Akwatia by-election on Tuesday, September 2.

Nana B noted that the NPP party’s supporters being attacked during the Ablekuma North have made it necessary for the party to put its security measures in place.

Speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Tuesday, August 19, Nana B stated, “We have said that it is important that we protect ourselves. Self-protection is well defined within the remit of the law. We are not going to deploy any thugs. We are not going to deploy any vigilantes. No, but what we have said is that we are going to protect ourselves. I am not sure that is a crime.

“We will protect ourselves. All that we are saying is that the protection will not be unlawful. The protection will not infringe on any laws whatsoever. It will not be an act of illegality,” he stated.

Also, Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, has alleged that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are likely to bring thugs to the Akwatia by-election.

Speaking in an interview on the Channel One Newsroom, Salam Mustapha stated, “When we were going to Ablekuma North, there were remarks from NDC people that they are going to retaliate for what happened in Ayawaso West-Wuogon and so on.

There were such remarks made by NDC people, and it happened. And I can tell you, knowing the NDC, they are very dishonest. We cannot trust them when they say they are not going to bing people there. You go there and the ‘azoka’ boys will be there. I know these people. We have worked over the period, and I can tell you that the NDC will bring thugs,” he stated.

“It can only be God” –  Napo on his political success

0

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh also known as Napo, the former running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 presidential election, has attributed his political success to God.

According to Napo, it can only be God, as in every step he takes, he seeks God first.

Napo, in a social media post on X on August 24, 2025, shared an extract of an interview he had on JoyNews’ Personality Profile.

He wrote, “Every step I make, I seek God first. So, if you look at my political journey, it’s nothing but pure goodness and mercy”, he said.

“It can only be God”, he remarked.

Napo, in his post, further wrote, If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, let Matthew Opoku Prempeh” now say.

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul.”

Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”

Psalms 124:1-8 NKJV”.

In addition, Napo, in a similar video, reminded politicians not to think of the political space as everything is a game.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Personality Profile,  Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh stated, “You live by what you don’t want to be done to you; don’t do it to a fellow human being. You might think that because we are in a political space, everything is a game. If I destroy Napo, I’m very, very happy. But hey, it’s not like that.

What goes around comes around. You might have destroyed Napo with the power of your microphone today, but definitely, you will be destroyed when you least expect it,” he stated.

In addition, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, in that same interview, also stated he was brought up to sit at the table with decision makers.

According to him, he was brought up to cherish one thing, public service, and not only public service, but bringing value through public service.

Napo further revealed, “I would say that is how I was brought up. I was brought up in a very politically aware family with a history of decades of partisan politics or active political life.”

“I was brought up to cherish one thing, public service, and not only public service, but bringing value through public service and for public service, meaning you just don’t participate. You participate in terms of regular impact.”

“That is how I was brought up, brought up to prove myself that I can sit at the table with decision makers, and not only the elderly, but a true decision maker.”

He added, “So brought up by grand uncles and uncles far older than myself, whose children were far older than me, and I served all of them, so that’s how I was brought up.”

“So me growing up, having public service has been a duty that has been imprinted in my heart, mind, and everything I do, so even deciding to belong to which associations growing up were all the associations that brought public service to the fore.”

Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh also narrated his early years joining the Boy Scouts and the Red Cross Society.

The former education minister narrated, “Like joining Boy Scouts at a very early age, be an altar boy. Not only that, joining the Red Cross Society, going to do medicine and public service.”

“The only difference is that some public service duties are very, very small, personal, but really impactful, and some are large and maybe impactful.”

“So being a doctor, you are serving one person at a time, and it could be very, very impactful for somebody who needs surgery, who is dying in agony, and you go in and you repair a strangled hernia or a rotten appendix or something, and you relieve his frustration. He sleeps well, and it brings a lot of joy to your heart and everything”, he stated.

Meanwhile, in a related Napo news, he has refuted rumours that he has switched camp.

He stressed that he cannot be ungrateful to Dr Bawumia after making him the running mate.

Napo stated, “It is not true, I’ve not moved from any camp to any camp. I remain where I am. Can I be ungrateful to Dr Bawumia after making me the running mate? What kind of human being will be so ungrateful?

I’ve not moved any camp; what I’ve done is to try and unite the party against whoever emerges as the flagbearer of the NPP. There’s only one person who can become the flagbearer of the NPP”.

Why Mahama’s father was arrested and jailed in 1966

0

President John Dramani Mahama’s father is Emmanuel Adama Mahama, born in Bole Bamboi and had ties to Damongo, the former capital of the West Gonja District. Mr Emmanuel Mahama was a prominent Ghanaian politician, educator, and rice farmer from the Gonja ethnic group in the Savannah Region. A devout Presbyterian, his Christian values profoundly shaped his family’s upbringing.

His multifaceted career began as an educator in the Northern Region, where he also ventured into rice farming, an enterprise he significantly expanded later in life.

Emmanuel Adama Mahama was a close ally of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He served as the first Member of Parliament for the West Gonja constituency and the first Northern Regional Minister (then referred to as Regional Commissioner) under Nkrumah’s government during Ghana’s First Republic.

He was instrumental in supporting Nkrumah’s administration, particularly in the Northern Region. – Attached is a photograph of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of the Republic of Ghana, pictured with his Ministers. Emmanuel Adama Mahama (wearing a smock) is in the far-right corner.

A rare photo of Emmanuel Adama Mahama, father of President John Dramani Mahama, with Queen Elizabeth II during her state visit to Ghana in November 1961.

Emmanuel Adama Mahama also served as Deputy Minister of Industries during Nkrumah’s government and represented Ghana at the 1963 Leipzig International Fair in the German Democratic Republic.

Following the 1966 CIA-backed coup that overthrew President Kwame Nkrumah’s government, Emmanuel Adama Mahama was imprisoned for two years due to his political involvement as a close ally of Nkrumah.

His son, John Dramani Mahama, while revealing why he was reluctant to venture into politics, noted that his dad’s traumatic experience led him to pursue a career as a commercial rice farmer.

Despite Emmanuel Adama Mahama’s reluctance to re-enter politics, he later served as a Senior Presidential Adviser during Ghana’s Third Republic under President Hilla Limann (1979–1981), reflecting his continued influence in Ghanaian politics aligned with Nkrumah’s legacy. His appointment stemmed from Limann’s need for experienced allies sympathetic to Nkrumah’s ideals, as Limann’s People’s National Party (PNP) drew inspiration from Nkrumah’s Convention People’s Party (CPP).

After serving as a Senior Presidential Adviser during Hilla Limann’s government (1979–1981), Emmanuel Adama Mahama was deeply affected by the 1981 coup d’état led by Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, which overthrew Limann’s administration.

He went into exile in Nigeria after the 1981 coup, as noted by his son, John Dramani Mahama, in his memoir titled “My First Coup d’État: And Other True Stories from the Lost Decades of Africa”, published by Bloomsbury on July 3, 2012.

An exclusive throwback video of President John Dramani Mahama recounting how he was raised in Offa, Nigeria, by his stepmother, a Yoruba woman, after his father, Emmanuel Adama Mahama, sought exile there following the 1981 coup that overthrew Hilla Limann’s government.

Emmanuel Adama Mahama passed away on June 14, 2001, and at the time of his death, he had 19 children, including the current President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and Business mogul and Philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama.

A throwback video of President John Dramani Mahama talking about how his father, Emmanuel Adama Mahama, and Dr. Bawumia’s father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, were close friends, noting that they both attended Tamale Senior High School, served as Northern Regional Ministers, each had 19 children, and called each other neighbors because they lived in the same vicinity.

“He’s like a King naked in the public square” – Bridget Otoo slams Vincent Assafuah over private jet lies

0

Presidential Staffer at Government Communications, Bridget Otoo, has taken a swipe at Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, over the MP’s recent post on President Mahama’s foreign trip to Japan.

According to the former broadcaster, the MP’s claim that the President blew more than $650,000 of taxpayers’ money to charter a private jet for his travel to Japan, Germany, and Singapore was a deliberate lie concocted by the lawmaker.

“… with the NPP, they’re a different kind of opposition. I mean, MPs are lying. Just this past Sunday, you had a Member of Parliament write that the President flew private jets. Went ahead to calculate how much the President spent on private jets, where he flew to, how it was. Now you’re talking about this deliberate lie. Absolutely deliberate lie,” Bridget said when she appeared on KSM’s Unfiltered YouTube show.

When KSM asked, “Is it something that he sat down and fabricated, or he actually thought somebody misinformed him and he decided to?”

Bridget responded, saying, “So I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. So assuming somebody even gave him false information, when you are found out, what do you do? You retract, you apologise and move on. Now he’s standing on the lie. He’s a king who is naked in the public square. Everybody can see that you’re lying.

And you’re saying, oh no, that’s not what I meant. I am just asking the question that, okay, if the President is going, he should have gone this way. If he did 10 hours, it should have been $105,000.”

Bridget Otoo went on to slam Rev. Ntim Fordjour, another NPP MP for Assin South, who also alleged in the early days of the Mahama government that an air ambulance was trafficking drugs from Gran Canaria into the country.

“I say they should leave that to the foot soldiers. I can understand if the foot soldiers are doing that, but not a Member of Parliament. I mean, one, two, a whole Reverend took us on a wild goose chase with some fake cocaine scandal.”

Bridget commended Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for what she described as “a fantastic job” when the NDC was in opposition.

“It tells you that Mr. Ablakwa did a fantastic job when we were in opposition. Because when he put his documents out, he wasn’t just talking. He backed it with evidence, documents, he scanned, made it public, was on platforms to defend it, made impact, would petition STRIDe where he needed to, petition whichever institution is involved, right? But these people are low-budget Ablakwa.

They can literally string their documents together. So they try, go on Facebook. Are you advising them to learn to lie and lie properly? No, not lie, Ablakwa did not lie, no. No, I’m just joking on that, yeah. I want them to hold the government accountable, but do so with sincerity, do so diligently. But don’t just—what they are doing is child’s play.” She added.

“Enough of your death prophecies” – Elvis Afriyie tells Prophets

0

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, has told Ghanaian Prophets that their prophecies about death are enough.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah had earlier called for prophets to send all their prophecies about the Government to be subjected to a review.

He also revealed that they have received plenty of new prophecies, which are undergoing review.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian prophet Samuel Henry, commonly known as Prophet Roja, has dropped another doom prophecy about Ghana’s presidency.

Speaking in an interview on Angel TV, Prophet Roja revealed that there is bad news coming, and the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, will replace a top official at the Presidency.

According to Prophet Roja, what happened during the late Prof Atta Mills’ time in office will happen again.

He detailed, “There is bad news coming. It is big and black. I don’t want to mention names, but I see a man called Julius Debrah replacing someone else in Ghana. He is going to be used to replace somebody’s chair in Ghana.

Very soon, in 2025, he will be promoted, and he will be used to replace someone else.

Prophet Roja also claimed the Speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin, will also be replaced by someone for some time.

“The Speaker of Parliament right now, some will be taking over,  I see someone taking his seat for some time”, he confidently claimed.

He added, “The last time I said something like this, something happened during Atta Mills’ time, that is, 2012, and I have seen the same thing repeating itself from 2024; it is on record, you can check on Angel FM platforms.

There is a possibility that what I am saying will happen”.

Sanitation workers to get 300% pay increase – Basintale hints

0

Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has revealed plans to increase the allowance of the agency’s sanitation module by 300 per cent.

Speaking to journalists after appearing before the Public Accounts Committee on Friday, August 22, 2025, Basintale stated, “When I took office, I swore by my late grandfather’s grave that no contract would be signed to pay GH¢258. That figure is unacceptable in this modern era. In any future contract, we will not go below the minimum wage. We are looking at more than a 300 percent increase,” he stressed.

“We have not discovered ghost names; what we found are individuals who were absent. Those at post have been validated, but those absent will lose two months’ pay.

“Beneficiaries who were validated can attest that their allowances have already been credited to their accounts,” he explained.

Malik Basintale, some months ago, promised on his late father’s grave not to renew the Zoomlion contract with workers receiving GH¢250.

In a write-up address to Malik Basintale on X, Manasseh Azure wrote, “Here is evidence that the Zoomlion contract expired before you took office. And your predecessor, who fought it, notified the company. Please, do the needful.  Don’t resurrect this thievery. Don’t disappoint the youth who massed up and marched with you in the sun and in the rain during the campaign.

Elder Joseph Siaw Agyepong of THE CHURCH OF PENTECOST told parliament yesterday that the sweepers are paid below the minimum wage because they work 4 hours a day, six days a week”.

He added, “The cleaners of your office don’t work all day, so it does not make sense to pay these people below the minimum wage. That’s the essence of the minimum wage.

Besides, only humans with the instincts of wild beasts would allow their fellow Ghanaians to work for a month and go home with only $17 a month, while the businessman makes millions”.

The Basintale boy stated, “I promise on my honour as I stand by the grave of my late DAD, NOT to RENEW the contract in its CURRENT STATE or FORM.

It is EVIL for the Previous government to have committed to this, and I SHALL STOP IT.

My brothers and sisters, on December 7th, 2024, Change came and Change must Happen”.

According to Malik Basintale, if his family member was a Zoomlion worker, he won’t be happy with them taking Ghc250 as salary, and so cannot be happy with others taking that amount.

He added, “If my mother/Brother/Sister were a Zoomlion worker, I won’t be happy with either of them taking Ghc250 as Salary and as such, I can’t be happy with you, your mother, father, brother or sister taking same”.

Subsequently, it will be recalled that the Mahama-led government decided not to renew the 19-year-old contract between the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

The presidency, in a letter responding to Manasseh Azure Awuni’s petition, revealed plans not to renew the Zoomlion contract.

President John Dramani Mahama, some months ago, stated that every district would be responsible for its sanitation.

According to John Mahama, the Cabinet will soon meet on the decentralisation of the sanitation budget and make every district responsible for its sanitation.

He further revealed that the performance of MMDAs will be measured by Cleanliness.

Speaking to supporters in Dodowa during his thank you tour of the Greater Accra Region, President Mahama stated, “Cabinet will soon meet on a decentralisation of the sanitation budget and make every district responsible for its own sanitation”.

“Cleanliness will become one of the key performance indicators for measuring the performance of MMDAs and will determine whether they remain in office or are removed.”

“I’m happy you clapped because to whom much is given, much is expected,” Mahama remarked.

He further added, “More resources are going to be available to all assemblies to implement their development projects and carry out effective sanitation programmes to keep our districts clean.”

“It will be legally backed, properly funded, and operationalised through partnerships with local assemblies and private sector service providers.

MMDCs shall be responsible for ensuring the success of the National Sanitation Day events in their districts. Greater Accra, as the face of Ghana, must be clean, green, and dignified,” Mahama said.

‘Arrogant behaviour of GRNMA Secretary must be swiftly condemned’ – Bernard Mornah

0

Bernard Mornah, the former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has said the arrogant behaviour of the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr David Tenkorang-Twum, must be condemned.

In a Facebook post, Bernard Mornah wrote, “As a proud farmer, I assert that disagreements may arise, but the haughty and seemingly arrogant behaviour of Dr David Tenkorang must be swiftly and firmly condemned. We should treat our leaders with dignity,” he said in a Facebook post on August 21, 2025.

“I am profoundly dismayed by the fervent defence mounted by some Ghanaians in support of the unmistakably derogatory comments made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association against our Honourable Minister of Health, Minta Akandoh”.

He added, “It is crucial to acknowledge that no profession is subordinate to another. Indeed, farming is the oldest profession, and without farming, no person can survive,” he added.

“We should also condemn the reported attack on a Nurse at the Ridge Hospital whilst we anticipate a speedy conclusion of the Committee set up to investigate the disturbance.”

His statement comes from the back, Dr David Tenkorang, firing shots at Ghana’s Health Minister, claiming he lacks education on the hospital’s triage system.

Speaking on Asempa FM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Dr David Tenkorang was reacting to the Ministry of Health’s explanation on Ridge Hospital violence regarding the Health Minister’s visit to Ridge following the incident.

Dr David Tenkorang stated, “The most disgusting and infuriating thing is the second point; the minister should know that there are systems over there. If he doesn’t understand, he should get somebody to educate him on the triage system. It is such that you can’t say because you are the first person to show up, you should be taken care of. When you come, we will triage you and establish if your ailment requires immediate care or delayed care as compared to others.

“After assessing and we will establish that your situation requires immediate care, they will attend to you immediately. If it requires that you are placed on standby for others to be cared for, not that they will neglect you, they will give you first aid or whatever, but they will attend to other people who need immediate attention. So, that statement does not make sense to me at all; it doesn’t make sense. Whoever wrote that statement doesn’t even understand the hospital system. Why? Is he a farmer? What kind of life is that?” he fumed.

The General Secretary of GRNMA further fumed at the Health Minister’s interaction with Ralph after the Ridge incident.

He added, “What is even annoying is what the minister did. His statement runs contrary to his posture. You went there, and the same Ralph who had engaged in that act of hooliganism, you went there to embrace him. Look at the pictures on social media.

“He affectionately embraced the Ralph guy, somebody who has been fingered as the perpetrator of that heinous crime. He embraced him, and then the guy whispered into his ears, and he was smiling; whether it was a question or whatever, then he was smiling. How did the guy get to know that the minister had come there for him to rush there immediately?” he questioned.

Dr David Tenkorang further accused the Health Minister of being disrespectful towards nurses.

“I agree with you, but the man does not give respect to nurses. How can you treat nurses like this? It’s the clearest case of disrespect. You go and embrace the very guy, and look, initially he was being defended that he met the person before meeting the management. It’s not true. Look, if you show us respect, we will also show you respect. I mean, what is he trying to show us?” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr David Tenkorang-Twum, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), has been given a 24-hour ultimatum by the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) to retract and render an apology to all farmers.

False and misleading, Mahama has not been snubbed for GBA 2025 Annual Conference – GBA

0

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has replied to Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Legal practitioner and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, after he claimed the Bar Association had snubbed President John Mahama for the upcoming 2025 Annual Conference.

The GBA, in a statement, describe the allegations as false, misleading, and a misconception of facts.

In a statement signed by the Ghana Bar Association President, Mrs Efua Ghartey, read, “The attention of the Ghana Bar Association (the GBA) has been drawn to publications stating that the GBA did not invite the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to the 2025 Annual Conference of the GBA, and that the GBA has not accorded the President of the Republic the level of prominence given to the immediate past president of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Annual Conferences of the GBA in the years 2017 through to 2024. The publication also raises a concern about the fact that the GBA has rather invited the Chair of the Bar Council of England and Wales.

The allegations in the publications are false, misleading, and a misconception of facts, and the GBA urges all persons to verify information (which the GBA is available to give) on such matters before publishing the same”.

The GBA statement revealed President Mahama had already accepted to honour their invitation.

“The GBA wishes to set the record straight by stating that the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has been invited as the Guest of Honour at the 2025 Annual Conference of the GBA to be held in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, and the President has graciously accepted to honour the invitation.

As far back as March 2025, the Bar Council paid a courtesy call on the President and extended an informal invitation. Thereafter, we sent a formal invitation letter dated 21st July, 2025, which was received at the presidency on 29th July, 2025. Subsequently, the GBA received an acceptance letter from the presidency dated 1st August, 2025, with Ref. No. OPS 311/25/2817”.

“This year’s Conference shall be under the distinguished patronage of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, as Guest of Honour”, the statement added.

The GBA also responded to the allegations of inviting the Bar Council of England and Wales after their controversial letter demanding that the president reinstate the suspended Chief Justice.

“We also wish to place on record that this is not the first time the Bar Council of England and Wales is joining the GBA at its annual Conference. At the Association’s Annual Conference held in Ho, the Volta Regional capital in the year 2022, the Bar Council of England and Wales participated in the Conference.

The GBA also maintains relationships with other professional bodies like the African Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Nigerian Bar Association, the Sierra Leonean Bar Association, Law Society of Kenya, the Law Society England and Wales, the American Bar Association, among others, who from year to year are invited to attend programmes of the GBA”, it added.

The GBA statement follows; Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Legal practitioner and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has fired shots at the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) over their list of speakers scheduled for the GBA’s 2025 annual conference.

The Majority Chief Whip in a post on X on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, shared a list of speakers scheduled for the GBA’s 2025 annual conference.

He recounted that the Ghana Bar Association from 2017 to 2024 almost always had former President Akufo-Addo as their Special Guest of Honour and Speaker, but in 2025, John Mahama is missing in the list of advertised Speakers.

According to Dafeamekpor, the Ghana Bar Association’s unalloyed bias against JDM and the NDC government is too glaring to be ignored.

Dafeamekpor, in his post, wrote, “I saw how the GBA organised its Annual Conference from 2017-2024 in this country.

The then Prez, Nana Akuffo Addo, was nearly always the Special Guest of Honour & Speaker.

That isn’t the case in 2025. The Prez is conspicuously missing from the list of advertised Speakers at the Confab”.

He further accused the Ghana Bar Association leadership of inviting the President of the Bar Council of England and Wales after they recently attacked the John Mahama-led government.

Dafeamekpor added, “What’s curious is that the GBA leadership has rather decided to invite the President of the Bar Council of England & Wales. A group that recently attacked this Govt without any provocation.

GBA, kindly add the Prez of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association for effect.

Your unalloyed bias against JDM and the NDC Govt is too glaring to be ignored now. You can continue to act as a Wing of the main opposition party to do its bidding, we are ready for you”, he confidently added.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Bar Association Annual Conference is scheduled to be held in Wa, Upper West from September 14 to September 19, 2025.

“Omane Boamah told Mahama the presidential jet was a coffin” – Ex-NPP MP

0

Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) New Juaben North Constituency Chairman, has said the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, told President John Dramani Mahama the presidential jet was a coffin.

Ghana’s Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet was purchased in 2009 and arrived in the country in 2010.

It replaced a 37-year-old Foker 27 aircraft, which was regarded as a flying coffin.

Also, the Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, before his passing, revealed that Ghana’s presidential jet is sick and heavily corroded.

According to the Defence Minister, the Presidential jet is in France due to serious technical faults.

Omane Boamah further revealed that the return date for the Presidential jet keeps changing.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, July 21, Dr Omane Boamah stated, “It is sad to note that for some time now, whenever the president’s jet goes for either maintenance or overhaul, the date that is scheduled for it to return to Ghana keeps changing”.

“They have extended it to two months before, and later two and a half. In this case, as we speak, the aircraft is still not in.”

“We are hoping that the date that has been given will see the Falcon in Ghana,” he said.

“The truth is that the presidential jet is heavily corroded… However, that does not in any way justify hiring or renting luxurious aircraft persistently for presidential use,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has called on all political actors to stop playing politics with the procurement of presidential planes and helicopters.

According to the Asantehene, lives are at stake, and Ghana must ensure the safety and efficiency of the president and its personnel in the security service.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made this known when the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace following last week’s tragic helicopter crash.

He described the incident as a national concern and further expressed deep sympathy to President John Mahama and the bereaved families.

The Asantehene stated, “Enough of the politicising of the purchase of presidential planes and helicopters. Human lives are at stake here. We must invest to safeguard their safety and efficiency”.

He further noted that most of the military aircraft currently in use are not in good condition.

He emphasised the need for investment in modern and reliable alternatives.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further urged all political divides to come together to address Ghana’s aviation and security logistics challenges.

Presidential jet was handed to Mahama in airworthy condition – Former Defence Minister

0

Dominic Nitiwul, the former Minister of Defence, has said the former Akufo-Addo government handed over an airworthy presidential jet to the NDC-led John Mahama government.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, Dominic Nitiwul revealed that the Falcon 900 was serviced by the manufacturers and was used by Akufo-Addo until he left office.

Dominic Nitiwul detailed, “It came back with everything anew after they (manufacturers) worked on it. The servicing was done by the manufacturers; they worked on it and said everything was okay. So, there was no problem with it.

“So, the former president started using it in April 2024. He used it until the time he handed it over. That is why I said that we have given out a jet that is airworthy, serviceable and can fly,” he said.

He added, “After using it for one more year, it was found out that the corroded part was still giving the jet problems. So, the Air Force recommended to the new government to send it back to France for further servicing”.

“What we should not be doing is politicking. Even though the former minister is gone, I don’t really want to criticise him, but it was wrong for him to come and start talking about an expensive jet. What is the meaning of expensive jet?… Has he even told Ghanaians the cost? Or is he relying on what Okudzeto said? I think that’s terribly wrong,” he said.

However, the Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, before his passing, revealed that Ghana’s presidential jet is sick and heavily corroded.

In addition, Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) New Juaben North Constituency Chairman, has said the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, told President John Dramani Mahama the presidential jet was a coffin.

Ghana’s Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet was purchased in 2009 and arrived in the country in 2010.

It replaced a 37-year-old Foker 27 aircraft, which was regarded as a flying coffin.

GNAFF gives GRNMA secretary a 24-hour ultimatum to retract and render an apology to all farmers

0

Dr David Tenkorang-Twum, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), has been given a 24-hour ultimatum by the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) to retract and render an apology to all farmers.

The  Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) demands come following Dr Tenkorang-Twum’s description of the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh’s statement, as written by a farmer.

According to the GNAFF, the GRNMA secretary’s remarks are unacceptable.

Their statement comes from the back, Dr David Tenkorang, firing shots at Ghana’s Health Minister, claiming he lacks education on the hospital’s triage system.

Honda CR-Vs, Ford F-150, Range Rovers, and Dodge models – EOCO lists brands of suspicious stolen cars

0

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has raised an alarm on four car brands highly suspicious of being stolen cars in Ghana.

According to the Head of EOCO’s Legal Unit, Leo Anthony Siamah, car brands like Honda CR-Vs, Ford F-150 pickups, Range Rovers, and Dodge models are very high in terms of the number of stolen car they have retrieved.

Interpol has placed Ghana as one of the hubs of stolen cars in West Africa.

Leo Anthony Siamah warned buyers to be circumspect and conduct due diligence when buying certain models of cars.

The Head of EOCO’s Legal Unit speaking on Upfront stated, , “There are certain types of vehicles that are suspicious. For instance, the Honda CR-V series, the Ford F-150, the Range Rover, and I think the Dodge Ram. These are four brands that are very high in terms of the number of stolen vehicles we recover. Most of them happen to be these vehicles. So, obviously, if you are going to purchase one of those vehicles, that should be a red flag for you”.

He further added that the EOCO office is not limited to only those models. “We’ve gone after a couple of Toyota Highlanders and Honda Accords. So, it’s not like we have a preference,” Siamah clarified.

EOCO warned against buying too new and accident-free vehicles, especially 2023 and 2024 models, on the Ghanaian market.

“If you look at one of those vehicles that was recently released, maybe a 2023 model, 2024 model, which is accident-free, it should be a red flag for you. That should point you to doing extra — for instance, go to Interpol to find out whether or not that car’s status is stolen,” he recommended.

Meanwhile, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, the Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, just a day ago announced that they have impounded 43 high-value luxury vehicles stolen from across Europe.

According to COP Lyida Donkor, the high-value luxury vehicles were stolen from the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Canada, the USA, Germany, Italy, and France.

The CID Director General revealed that a collaboration between the CID, Customs and Interpol, DIGIPOL, and the FBI led to the recovery of about 43 vehicles.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, August 4, 2025, COP Lydia Donkor detailed, “These 43 vehicles are mainly high-value luxury vehicles such as Rolls-Royce, Audi Q8,

Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, etc., stolen from countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Canada, USA, Germany, Italy, and France”

“Out of the 43 vehicles that have been impounded, investigations have been completed and the courts have ordered that 18 of them should be repatriated to the countries of origin.

“Eight have already been repatriated, while ten are pending. Repatriation cases on the remaining 25 are still pending in court,” she said.

She added, “It is sad to note that in almost all the cases mentioned above, those who clear the vehicles in Ghana are unable to provide proof of ownership or purchase of the vehicles from the country of origin prior to their importation into Ghana.

Let me indicate here that payment of customs duties in Ghana does not mean that the vehicle was legitimately acquired from the country of origin”

“Let me indicate here that payment of customs duties in Ghana does not mean that the vehicle was legitimately acquired from the country of origin,” she added.

COP Lyida Donkor further detailed how the criminals smuggled 43 stolen luxury vehicles into Ghana.

She revealed that a special CID task force, set up to tackle vehicle-related crimes, gathered intelligence exposing the car smuggling criminal scheme.

She revealed that the vehicles are often rented from car rental companies in Ghana under false pretences.

“These criminals rent vehicles using fake identities. While the rental agreement is still valid, they secretly arrange for the vehicles to be shipped out.

Once they receive confirmation that the vehicle has been successfully exported, they stop paying the rental fees and cut off communication with the rental company,” she explained.

“We urge the public to report suspicious vehicle dealings and cooperate with police investigations as the CID intensifies its fight against cross-border vehicle crimes,” she said.

“I am not completely in retirement” – K. T. Hammond

0

K. T. Hammond, the former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has said he is not completely in retirement after losing his 2024 parliamentary seat.

The former lawmaker indicated a possible return to contest the constituency’s parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.

According to K.T. Hammond, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the Adansi Asokwa seat by default.

Speaking to the media, Kobina Tahiru Hammond stated, “I am not completely in retirement. I had to return to my law books to sharpen a few things. But I am not in retirement, if that is what you think. In any event, as I said, watch this space”.

K.T. Hammond further claimed the 2024 parliamentary election in Adansi Asokwa was filled with irregularities.

He explained, “Those boxes, what were they doing at Lomito Clinic? Is that where we voted? You heard it in the script when he was telling me that I was complaining about some of my pink sheets. Just have a look at them.

“They had tippers, inks, and other things on them; it was crazy. There was a lot of mess attributed to this Adansi Asokwa election, and it was beyond description. I felt I had to contain myself,” he recounted.

Kobina Tahiru Hammond further touched on the Obuasi High Court’s fine against him.

According to K.T. Hammond, he will appeal the court’s fine of ¢60,000 after his election petition case was dismissed.

On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the court imposed a fine of ¢60,000 on K. T. Hammond for wasting their time with his petition.

The case was presided over by Justice Kwabena Twumasi.

K.T. Hammond lost the Adansi Asokwa seat to Dorani by 954 votes and filed a case against Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani after he was not pleased with the outcome of the election.

The former Trade and Industry Minister, Kobina Tahiru Hammond, shockingly, on three occasions failed to appear before the court.

The court on August 19, 2025, proceeded with its ruling.

Richard Andy, the lawyer for the incumbent MP, speaking to some journalists, revealed that K.T. Hammond had no legal basis.

K.T. Hammond added, “I am told that the Judge awarded 60,000 cedis, or so I am appealing, and this time I am appealing in my own right. I will put my own signature. I am appealing as the appellant in person; I am not going to go through a lawyer. The cost of 60,000 is completely unfair.

“I’m not too upset with the judge. There was some mix-up; there was no attendance by the lawyers, I’m told. You can understand. We filed a petition, a few things went wrong,” he said.

He further claimed the NDC won the 2024 election by default.

“The NDC won the Asokwa election by default. For whatever reason, we, the NPP, decided to hand over power on a silver platter. He didn’t win,” he added.

KT Hammond further provided reasons for his failure to appear before the court three consecutive times.

“He [lawyer] talked about me not filing the suit myself, but it was filed in my name. He made a scandalous suggestion that I ask someone [a lawyer] whose name was not even registered on the bar list. I don’t even understand. This is a person who was my classmate, and we left the university and law school same year. He has been in practice for close to 35 to 40 years,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani, the member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa Constituency, has said his constituents keep gifting him money, kicking KT Hammond out of Parliament.

The lawmaker stated, “If, by the grace of God, the people of Adansi Asokwa have been liberated from trials and tribulations through me, the insults and all the disgrace should stop, because you people dash me money when I go out. They ask, ‘Are you the one who overthrew KT Hammond?’ When I respond in the affirmative, I am given a token to buy fuel”.

“The substantive issue was not even addressed because he breached all the laws guiding election petitions. By the grace of God, the court has listened to what my lawyers and I said and has dismissed the case. When I get back, many of my constituents will be happy that he has lost again, and many people will be tagging him with all kinds of things that he could have avoided in the first place,” he stated.

KT Hammond lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani.

Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani, NDC candidate, secured 14,229 of the valid votes cast while KT Hammond secured 13,275 votes.

Good luck, Alhaji. It is possible. Good man”.

Meanwhile, A new poll released by Global Info Analytics on August 21, 2025, shows the former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is the leading candidate ahead of the party’s primaries in January 2026.

Mr. Boakye said the youth organisers and their deputies across the country approached Samira Bawumia, wife of Dr. Bawumia, right before the recently held National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana in Accra.

“490 out of the 546 youth organisers and their deputies in Ghana have collectively contributed money to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential candidacy for the upcoming election. They met Hajia Samira, Sammi Awuku, Dr. Gideon Boako, and Ekwow Vincent a day before the delegates conference with the proposal,” David Boakye said.

He added that the youth, together with their deputies, have already sent some selected representatives to meet Dr. Bawumia and assure him of their decision, adding that they will pick up the nomination forms for Dr. Bawumia come Wednesday, August 12, 2025.

In addition, in the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyapong finished second in the Super Delegates Conference with 14.30% of the vote, behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who secured 61.47% emerging the winner.

The NPP 2026 primaries are heating up with the main front-runners for the NPP’s flagbearer position, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Minister for Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, and former Minister for Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.

Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo have also declared their intention to contest.

Access Bank, Bank of Africa in “turf war” over SG-SSB takeover

0

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, has blown an alarm on an emerging turf war ongoing over the takeover of Societe Generale – Social Security Bank (SG-SSB).

Bright Simons revealed that there is a secret war between a Nigerian banking giant and a Moroccan big bank to take over the Ghanaian bank.

The Nigerian bank has been identified as Access Bank, while the Moroccan bank is the Bank of Africa.

In a social media post on August 21, 2025, on X, Bright Simon detailed, “Apparently, a secret war is underway between Nigerian and Moroccan big banks to take over a Ghanaian bank”.

The think-tank vice president noted that Societe Generale, like many banks in Ghana, have drifted from its purpose.

He explained, “Like most former special-purpose/quasi-policy banks in Ghana, SG has drifted far from its original purpose and is now an undifferentiated tier-one bank, competing mostly for upper crust.

The two frontrunner banks competing to snap up SG’s shares are, according to some sources, Bank of Africa (Morocco-origin) and Access Bank (Nigeria-origin).

It does not seem like SSNIT and the government of Ghana have any clear strategy or preference”.

According to Bright Simons, the Central Bank has decided that the SG makes a choice, and they would be subjected to a minimum standard.

“The Bank of Ghana appears to suggest that once SG makes a choice, it would subject it to minimal standards based on the “fit-and-proper person (owner)” rules, which would be perfunctory as both frontrunners are already active on the market.

If the authorities were so inclined, some factors that could weigh on their minds would be competition and external commercial linkages. An objective analyst might suggest that BoA’s smaller footprint poses less market concentration risk. Its Maghreb links could also be seen as diversifying since Ghana is already well exposed to the Nigerian banking ecosystem.

But these are marginal factors. And Access Bank has strong points too, its dynamism, for instance”, Mr Simons explained.

Bright Simon additionally explained why no global player seeks to replace Societe Generale , adding that global banks are retreating from the African market.

He added, “Why didn’t another global player seek to replace SG? Well, global banks are in a sort of general retreat from Africa.

When news broke in May last year that SG’s exit was imminent, the suggestion was that it was an exit from multiple mediocre and marginal African markets to focus on strategic locations like Morocco, Senegal, and Ivory Coast. Very much part of a consolidation trend.

This may come as a bit of a surprise to those who know how profitable African banking looks on the surface. All those net interest margins that would make a Global North bank swoon”.

Mr Simons, using a chart under his post, illustrated why it is now time for Africa’s homegrown mega banks to step up to the plate and make a play for their own global ambitions.

He detailed, “As careful readers would see from the attached charts, however, there are important nuances. Though prepared under some data constraints, the charts clearly show that, adjusted for risk, inflation, and exchange rate, quite a chunk of the juicy returns disappear from the standpoint of a global HQ observer.

Next, you look at contribution to regional top- and bottom-line numbers, and the risks and regulatory burden suddenly look cumbersome. In the past, the view was that exposure to some of the edgiest trends could only be had in places like Africa. Tight regulation at home and abroad has, however, abated the appetite of global banks”.

Bright Simon, in his post, also detailed why the Societe Generale was founded in 1975 by  Ghana’s public pension fund.

He wrote, “The bank in question, Societe Generale (SG), formerly SSB, was founded in 1975 by Ghana’s public pension fund, SSNIT, to serve financial inclusion purposes, similar to, say, the postbanks in Japan”.

SSNIT retained the controlling share until 1997 (the govt sold out in 1995). In 2004, the French bank, SG, took control. SSNIT now owns about 19% while SG owns 60%+”.

In addition, Bright Simon added that a reliable source available to him reports that SSNIT has decided to jump into the bidding war, but is reportedly offering the lowest price on account.

He wrote, “ A usually reliable source backs a new report that SSNIT has decided to throw its hat in the ring.

SSNIT is reportedly offering the lowest price on account of “local goodwill”, it says it can muster.

SG’s mothership in Paris is tighter with the Moroccans. For obvious reasons, Morocco is SG’s most strategic market in Africa on various dimensions.

Access Bank is reportedly working hard on deploying more political capital.

So, the game is on”, he added.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Asiama, in March 2025, revealed the prospective buyers engaging BoG in the sale of shares in Societe Generale.

Speaking during the 123rd Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) press conference in Accra on Friday, March 28, he stated, “The sale of shares in Societe Generale is ongoing, a number of prospective buyers have touched base with us. But as you know, we are central bank regulators; ours is to issue a no objection, ours is to ensure that the prospective buyer meets the fit and proper requirements. And so we await negotiations on their part. When it is included, we will then look at the aspect that we have to look at.

“We will have to make sure that they meet the policy guidelines when it comes to mergers and acquisitions, and to make sure that everything is fit and proper”.

“So that is where we are as far as the SG transaction is concerned. We are waiting for the shareholders, we are waiting for the agreements that can be reached, and then we will get involved for that sale to go to the next step”, he added.

Shatta Wale cannot be compelled to disclose the seller of his Lamborghini Urus – Lawyer

Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers, a Private legal practitioner, has said the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) cannot compel the dancehall artiste Shatta Wale to disclose the seller of his Lamborghini Urus.

According to Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers, Shatta Wale has the constitutional backing to remain silent and not provide information that may incriminate him.

Speaking on 3FM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers stated, “Shatta Wale has the right not to incriminate himself, and this privilege can be invoked in both civil and criminal proceedings”.

Mr Brako-Powers further touched on the unconstitutional detention of Shatta Wale.

“The law is clear that 48 hours is 48 hours and not a minute or second beyond. This attitude of law enforcement agencies does not ensure certainty of the law’s application,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced that  Shatta Wale does not have any documentation to prove ownership of the Lamborghini Urus.

In addition, Shatta Wale was Shatta Wale has thanked his fans, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and his management team following his release from custody.

He was released from EOCO custody on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

“People dash me money for overthrowing KT Hammond” – Adansi Asokwa MP

0

Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani, the member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa Constituency, has said his constituents keep gifting him money for overthrowing  KT Hammond out of Parliament.

According to the Adansi Asokwa MP, his victory has liberated the people of Adansi Asokwa from trials and tribulations.

Speaking to the media after the court’s ruling the lawmaker stated, “If, by the grace of God, the people of Adansi Asokwa have been liberated from trials and tribulations through me, the insults and all the disgrace should stop, because you people dash me money when I go out. They ask, ‘Are you the one who overthrew KT Hammond?’ When I respond in the affirmative, I am given a token to buy fuel”.

“The substantive issue was not even addressed because he breached all the laws guiding election petitions. By the grace of God, the court has listened to what my lawyers and I said and has dismissed the case”.

He added, “When I get back, many of my constituents will be happy that he has lost again, and many people will be tagging him with all kinds of things that he could have avoided in the first place”.

KT Hammond lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani.

Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani, NDC candidate, secured 14,229 of the valid votes cast while KT Hammond secured 13,275 votes.

Meanwhile, K.T.

On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the court imposed a fine of ¢60,000 on K. T. Hammond for wasting their time with his petition.

The case was presided over by Justice Kwabena Twumasi.

However, K.T. Hammond has said the Obuasi High Court fine of ¢60,000 is completely unfair.

According to K.T. Hammond, he will appeal the court’s fine of ¢60,000 after his election petition case was dismissed.

Speaking to the media, K.T. Hammond stated, “I am told that the Judge awarded 60,000 cedis, or so I am appealing, and this time I am appealing in my own right.

Also, K. T. Hammond has said he is not completely in retirement after losing his 2024 parliamentary seat.

The former lawmaker indicated a possible return to contest the constituency’s parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.

Alan Kyerematen doesn’t need to be engaged to return to NPP – Miracles Aboagye

0

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the 2024 Communications Director of Dr Bawumia’s Campaign, has said Alan Kyerematen doesn’t need to be engaged to return to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Miracles Aboagye asserted that Alan Kyerematen left the NPP of his own volition.

Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, Miracles Aboagye stated, “Nobody convinced Alan Kyerematen to leave NPP. He doesn’t need to be engaged to return to the party”.

Miracles Aboagye, in the same interview, further clarified that Hopeson Adorye and other persons who left the party of their own accord must apply to become members again and added that not all who apply will be received back into the NPP.

According to Miracles Aboagye,  Hopeson Adorye, and other NPP members who left the party to join the Movement for Change are not part of the NPP’s amnesty.

He said, “Nobody is asking Hopeson Adorye to come back to the NPP. He is not part of the NPP; he is not part of those given the amnesty… In fact, the NPP does not expect Hopeson Adorye to come back.

“In a group we would want people who will bring positive energy to return. If you have an organisation like Starr FM and one of your staff members who leaves keeps bad-mouthing you, would you want such a staff member back? You would want a team that is pursuing a common agenda. I don’t think there is anybody in the NPP that would say that we want Hopeson back.

He added, “No politician would want negative energy. Do you know what one negative person can do? One negative energy can disrupt thousands of your people”.

“Let me put it on record, they are not part of the amnesty; they have to apply. So, they should even pray that when they apply and the application is vetted, they will be accepted. Because your acceptance will be based on the contribution you are bringing on board,” he said.

However, Hopeson Adorye, the director of Special Duties of the Movement of Change, has boldly stated Alan Kyerematen will never go back to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His remarks follow the NPP’s granting all suspended party members general amnesty.

According to the NPP, the move is aimed at promoting unity and reconciliation.

The amnesty has been granted to all members suspended or who have pending disciplinary cases.

On August 16, 2025, in a statement signed by Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, the Acting National Chairman read, “I bring you warm greetings from the national secretariat of the party.

I write to inform you that the National Council, at its Emergency Meeting held on Friday, July 25, 2025, resolved in the interest of unity and reconciliation to grant a General Amnesty to all Party members who have been suspended or whose disciplinary cases are currently pending before the appropriate adjudicatory bodies.

We hereby serve notice that this directive lifts all such suspensions and waives any ongoing proceedings against affected members”, the statement noted.

The NPP’s acting chairman’s statement continued, “Members who have forfeited their membership are required to submit a formal application to he national secretariat for reinstatement. Upon reinstatement, you shall remain ineligible to contest any internal party election until a mandatory two-year period has elapsed.

This measure reflects the Party’s unwavering commitment to fostering internal cohesion, strengthening solidarity, and preparing collectively for the political tasks ahead”.

The statement further added, “In view of this resolution, Party leadership at all levels is hereby strictly advised to refrain from any arbitrary suspension of members. All disciplinary matter must be handled solely in accordance with the procedures, principles, and due process provisions expressly enshrined in the Party’s constitution. The National Secretariat requests your full compliance with this directive.

We count on your continued cooperation”, the NPP statement concluded.

0

A new poll released by Global Info Analytics on August 21, 2025, shows the former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is the leading candidate ahead of the party’s primaries in January 2026.

According to the Global Info Analytics, the poll surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing all responses across 263 of the 276 constituencies.

Meanwhile, in the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries, Kennedy Agyapong finished second in the Super Delegates Conference with 14.30% of the vote, behind Dr.

Also, it has been revealed that close to 490 youth organisers and deputy youth organisers with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have contributed to picking up nomination forms for former flagbearer and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to contest in 2028.

This is according to David Boakye, Bono East Regional Secretary of the NPP. Mr. Boakye made this disclosure to Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi FM.

Meanwhile, a group of 220 former MMDCEs who served under the immediate past Akufo-Addo government, on June 23, 2025, officially declared their endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia held an open interaction with the MMDCEs in Accra two months ago as part of his stakeholder consultations. Following the meeting, the former MMDCEs held a press conference to declare their absolute confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and endorsed his candidature for the 2028 elections.

In addition, Kennedy Agyapong, a former Assin Central lawmaker and NPP presidential aspirant hopeful, has said the New Patriotic Party has a fighting chance in the 2028 elections if the party chooses him as the flagbearer.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, he is the NPP’s best bet to win the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He boldly emphasised that he is going to beat the NDC hands down if voted as the NPP presidential candidate.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Pan African Television, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “The party has a fighting chance, but it depends on the candidate they choose. If they choose Kennedy Agyapong, they have a fighting chance; I will beat NDC hands down”.

“GH¢60k court fine completely unfair, I will appeal” – K.T. Hammond

0

Kobina Tahiru Hammond, the former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has said the Obuasi High Court fine of ¢60,000 is completely unfair.

Speaking to the media, K.T. Hammond stated, “I am told that the Judge awarded 60,000 cedis, or so I am appealing, and this time I am appealing in my own right.

Meanwhile, Kobina Tahir Hammond, after his election defeat, expressed deep concerns about his constituents.

K.T. Hammond recounted that his constituents on the voting day wanted money from him before they went and cast their votes.

Speaking on Adom TV, KT Hammond expressed his unhappiness with the voters in his constituency. He detailed, “The places where cars could not go, I was walking there, even places during my youth days where I was not going this time, I walked there and made sure we covered everywhere”.

“The day came for us to vote people were just standing there, they were saying they would not vote because they wanted money, I was like look at your Astroturf, look at your schools, look at your water, look at your roads, what will even make you cry is that one place that we created a road for the chief and the people that area they did not even vote”, he added.

KT Hammond further added, “There are so many sad things, if we voted and the NDC beat me comprehensively I would be like KT and they have beaten me like that, 2020 they got like 13,000 and we hit 18,000 so you expect that if they beat me the numbers should be added to theirs for it to be 19,000, the NDC still had their 14,000, our 18,000 dropped to 13,000, the NPP did not vote”.

“I have heard most of my colleagues have lost their seats as well, the NDC did not beat us, the NPP supporters decided not to vote, so they should take it”, he emphasised.

In a separate interview, K.T. Hammond accused his constituents of deception.

According to him, during the campaign period, when he visited some communities, his constituents promised to vote for him massively, but it turned out to be false.

He stated, “In certain places I went to and what I knew of the places, in fact, they were places that I had done so much that when I went round campaigning, they said that, I now think that there was an irony in what they said. They said, “We will vote for you as a thank you. God bless you, we will vote to say thank you. And they didn’t vote”.

KT Hammond lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani.

The NDC candidate secured 14,229 of the valid votes cast while KT Hammond secured 13,275 votes.

“Your unalloyed bias against JDM is too glaring to be ignored” – Dafeamekpor blasts GBA

0

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Legal practitioner and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has fired shots at the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) over their list of speakers scheduled for the GBA’s 2025 annual conference.

From September 14 to September 19, 2025, the 2025 Ghana Bar Association Annual Conference is scheduled to be held in Wa, Upper West.

Meanwhile, Dafeamekpor’s reference to the President of the Bar Council of England & Wales comes following the UK Bar Council, Commonwealth Lawyers, who have ordered President John Dramani Mahama to immediately and without delay, reinstate the suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, in a joint statement, the Bar Council of England and Wales and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association demanded the reinstatement of the Chief Justice.

Parts of their statement noted, “Immediately and without delay, reinstate the Chief Justice of Ghana to her Office, consistent with both the hitherto strong attachment to the rule of law demonstrated by Ghana and also, the constitutional duties incumbent upon them”.

They stated that the rules of practice must “include the time frame within which the investigating committee must conclude the disciplinary process against the Chief Justice, without any further delay and communicate that decision of that process to all concerned in upholding the rule of law in Ghana.”

According to the Bar Council of England and Wales and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, the investigating committee permitting petitioners to use witnesses instead of attending themselves to answer questions on their petitions does not follow the rules and norms of due process.

They argued that the decision by the investigating committee to “deny the Chief Justice’s legal representative the respect required when attending the hearings of the investigating committee is contrary to the Latimer House Principles, which underline the duty to ensure fair and just process.”

However, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has replied to the UK Bar Council, Commonwealth Lawyers.

Dr Dominic Ayine, in a statement, emphasised that the suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo’s suspension will remain until the inquiry committee completes and submits its report to President Mahama.

Shatta Wale released from EOCO custody after meeting GH₵5m revised bail

The EOCO statement also revealed that the  2019 Lamborghini Urus has been identified by the FBI and the US Justice Department as proceeds of a $14 million crime involving one Nana Kwabena Amuah.

Read EOCO’s earlier statement below:

“Charles Nii Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale, was invited by EOCO to assist in investigations surrounding a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a car identified by the FBI and the US Justice Department as proceeds of a $14 million crime involving one Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian who is currently serving a jail term in the USA.

The investigation forms part of a larger probe regarding possible co-conspirators in the same crime, which occurred in the US involving some Ghanaians and recoveries of the proceeds of the crime.

Following requests from the FBI and the US Justice Department to EOCO to track the vehicle and conduct local investigations in respect of uncovering possible co-conspirators in Ghana, EOCO began looking for the vehicle until it was identified and seized in or around May this year, in the possession of Charles Nii Armah Mensah.

On August 15, 2025, a United States District Court of the Eastern District of Kentucky, Central Division of Lexington, in a criminal case of the United States of America vrs. Nana Kwabena Amuah issued an order forfeiting a substitute asset on the Lamborghini Urus in question, authorising the US Government to take possession of the said vehicle in Ghana as restitution for the crime.

On August 5, 2025, following a public claim by Charles Nii Armah Mensah that he purchased the car at a price of US$150,000 from an unidentified party, EOCO invited him to report on August 13, 2025. The appointment was later rescheduled for August 20, 2025, at 10 am to assist with investigations.

Counsel for Charles Nii Armah Mensah indicated to EOCO officers that they would prefer to report at 11 am. EOCO readjusted its schedule to align with its time. Shortly before 11 am, Counsel for Nii Armah called EOCO to claim that his client was not available and that he was also busy. EOCO indicated to Counsel that he and his client were expected to report as scheduled.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah arrived at the office around 3 pm and insisted that he was not going to cooperate until his Counsel arrived, a right which he is entitled to and was accorded. EOCO investigators and Charles Nii Armah Mensah waited from 11 am till 5 pm before his Counsel showed up. Incidentally, EOCO’s closing time is 5 pm. Nevertheless, EOCO staff and the operational team chose to carry on with the interrogation, which ended around 9 pm. Officers eventually left the office around 11 pm.

Nii Armah was granted bail around 9 pm, shortly after interrogation ended. He was granted bail of GHC 10,000,000 with two sureties to be justified. Once the sureties are presented, hopefully this morning, EOCO will undertake surety inspection, which is a standard protocol, after which Charles Nii Armah Mensah will leave custody.

So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus except to say that he bought it from the “street” and from someone possibly called “ZAK,” who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.

So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah also does not possess any documentation in terms of receipt or transfer documents which show that he owns or purchased the said vehicle, except a customs declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail”.

“Nobody needs to remind me, I am a proud farmer” – Health minister replies GRNMA General Secretary

0

Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, has said nobody needs to remind him of his farming background.

Mintah Akandoh boldly emphasised that he is a proud farmer.

According to Mintah Akandoh, the notion that only a person with medical training is qualified to serve as health minister is misplaced.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Mintah Akandoh stated, “I understand, on the lighter note, I have been reminded of the fact that I am a farmer. Yes, nobody needs to remind me. I am a proud farmer, and everybody knows it. Until my appointment, I was one of the largest rice farmers in this country. I am proud of that”.

“Please, we have a lot to deliver, and some of these things will not divert our attention. We will continue to do our best for Mother Ghana,” he stressed.

The Health Minister further described the remarks about his professional background as a distraction meant to divert his attention from Ghana’s health sector challenges.

Mintah Akandoh further defended his handshake with social media activist Ralph St. William, who has been fingered in the Ridge Hospital assault.

According to Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, his handshake with Ralph St. William was not an endorsement of the alleged assault but an act of courtesy.

The Health minister emphasised that the fact that he shook hands with him does not mean he would stop any measures taken by the government to unravel the situation.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh stated, “After we finished the meeting with the hospital management, I put together a committee to investigate the matter in question. So, after that meeting, we came outside, and my attention was drawn to a gentleman who I was told was at the centre of the controversy.

“So, on approaching me, I asked, ‘Why did you do what you did?’ When I asked, the gentleman stretched his hand, shook me, and attempted to whisper something into my ear. At this point, should I push him away, snub him, or shout at him? Even if that guy has been prosecuted and sentenced to life imprisonment, if he stretches his hand to shake me, as a minister and as a public officer, I have a duty to greet him back,” he said.

“The fact that I shook hands with him does not mean I should stop any measures the ministry or government will take to unravel the situation,” he stressed.

His comment comes on the back of the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr David Tenkorang, firing shots at Ghana’s Health Minister, claiming he lacks education on the hospital’s triage system.

“If the Golden Stool is from the sky or not, so what?” – Okatakyie slams Dormaahene

0

Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, a controversial media personality, has slammed Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, over his recent comments on the Golden Stool.

Speaking on his For the Records show on August 19, 2025, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah quizzed the Dormaahene whether the Golden Stool is from the sky or not, then so what?

According to him, the Dormaahene had the perfect opportunity to talk about development, but chose to attack the Asantehene.

Afrifa-Mensah stated, “Nana Dormaahene, respectfully, if the Golden Stool is from the sky or not, then so what? The conversations you were having, what beneficial interest will that bring to the Bono people? There are a lot of pressing issues you could have addressed instead of talking about the Golden Stool.

“You had the perfect opportunity to talk about development and how to support the region, but what you did instead was driven by personal interest. What have you done for the people of Dormaa to show off?”

He continued, “Whether the Golden Stool came from the skies or not, it belongs to the Asantes and nothing else.

“You started this attack four years ago, but still, John Mahama continues to engage with the Asantes. Aren’t you tired, Nana Dormaahene? You did this for the NDC, and now that the NDC is in power, you are still attacking the Asantes.”

His comments come after Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has said anyone who claims the Golden Stool was summoned to descend from the sky is a liar.

According to the Dormahene, the Golden Stool, when it was recently outdoored, looked welded when it was displayed in public.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie”.

“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?” he quizzed.

Meanwhile, the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people is known as Sika Dwa Kofi, was said to have been summoned down from the sky by the high priest Okomfo Anokye.

According to history, the Golden Stool descended in a cloud of white dust, amidst thunder.

History further asserts that the Golden Stool landed on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, by the command of the Okomfo Anokye, a fetish priest.

It must be noted that the Dormaahene is a critic of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and historical narratives that he claims are distorted facts in the country’s history.

Meanwhile, Nana Obiri Boahen, a Lawyer and historian, has also tackled the Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, following his recent comments regarding the Golden Stool.

According to Obiri Boahen, the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi potency that cannot be underrated.

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on August 16, 2025, Obiri Boahen stated, “So, the Golden Stool, please, with due respect, don’t underrate the potency of the Golden Stool. Under no circumstances should you speak against it.

It is like you are not a Jew but underrating the Ark. Because the Ark, if you are not a Levite, you can’t touch it”.

“The Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, if you are not a royal, you can never carry it. That is one of the mysteries”, he added.

NPP wants Alan supporters for baboon work – Solomon Owusu

0

Solomon Owusu, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of wanting to use Alan supporters who return to the party for baboon’s work.

According to Solomon Owusu, despite the amnesty Movement for Change will not return to the NPP.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Gold, Solomon Owusu stated, “We want to change the dynamics of our body politic so that when we say yes, it’s yes and when we say no, it’s no”.

He asked, “Between supporters of Alan Kyeremanten and the NPP, who must give the other amnesty? We are supposed to be giving them amnesty to even be talking to us”.

“Now, this whole release is also to tell Mr Alan Kyeremanten and his supporters that we only need your presence to come and do the baboon jobs in the NPP”, Solomon Owusu added.

Solomon Owusu’s comments come following the NPP’s granting all suspended party members general amnesty.

However, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the 2024 Communications Director of Dr Bawumia’s Campaign, Hopeson Adorye and other persons who left the party of their own accord must apply to become members again and added that not all who apply will be received back into the NPP.

According to Miracles Aboagye, Hopeson Adorye, and other NPP members who left the party to join the Movement for Change are not part of the NPP’s amnesty.

Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, Miracles Aboagye stated, “Nobody is asking Hopeson Adorye to come back to the NPP.

“No politician would want negative energy. Do you know what one negative person can do? One negative energy can disrupt thousands of your people,” he said.

“Let me put it on record, they are not part of the amnesty; they have to apply. So, they should even pray that when they apply and the application is vetted, they will be accepted. Because your acceptance will be based on the contribution you are bringing on board,” he added.
