“Visionary” – Franklin Cudjoe reacts to Mahama gov’ts 198km Accra–Kumasi expressway project

0

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has reacted to the John Mahama government’s 198km Accra–Kumasi expressway project under the Big Push initiative.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, the 198km Accra–Kumasi expressway project is Visionary.

He, however, warned that the project should be done without pain to residents, the environment and our coffers.

Franklin Cudjoe also highlighted that the project must be properly procured with only the best contractors for the job.

In a social media post ob X, he wrote, “Visionary. It should be done without pain to residents, the environment and our coffers. Clear alternate routes be prepared,  advance warning or notices to residents of changes in traffic, safety notices and warnings and 24-hour construction.

It must be properly procured with only the best contractors for the job. Good luck to all of us. May we see such replicated on all major roads”, he added.

According to the Finance Minister, the project will include eight interchanges, three major bridges, round-the-clock service areas, and automated tolls, aiming to boost connectivity between Accra and Kumasi.

In the video shared during the 2025 budget presentation by Ato Forson, he stated, “The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is the flagship of President Mohammed’s Big Push infrastructure program.

It is Ghana’s first fully modern six-lane bi-directional Class A expressway, a highway worthy of a nation on the rise. Stretching 198.7 kilometres, this expressway will become the central spine of Ghana’s economy, linking our capital city, Accra and Kumasi, the heartbeat of the Ashanti Region”.

He further added, “It will cut through the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions, creating a powerful southern-northern economic corridor that connects people, markets, and opportunities. To achieve this, the expressway follows a brand new alignment.

This alone reduces the current travel distance by more than 50 kilometres, bringing it down from 250 kilometres to just under 199 kilometres. The impact on time and efficiency will be remarkable. Travel time between Accra and Kumasi will be cut by half. Transport costs are expected to fall by nearly 40%”.

Also, Ato Forson has said the Accra–Kumasi expressway project will create 30,000 jobs during construction and cut transport costs by 40%.

He further detailed, “And during construction, the project will create over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs for engineers, artisans, suppliers, and young people eager to work and build. But this project is more than a road. It’s a catalyst for transformation. It will spark the development of new industrial parks, logistics hubs, storage centres, and service economies along its length. It will power our 24-hour economy and strengthen Ghana’s global competitiveness.

The expressway will feature eight major interchanges, each designed to ease congestion and enhance access. These interchanges will be located at Accra Hub, Adeiso, Asamankese, Akim Oda, Ofoase, Lake Bosomtwe, and Kumasi. Together, they will form a network of seamless movement and connectivity”.

The finance minister further added, “The project also includes three significant bridges crossing the Birim and Pra Rivers, ensuring a safe, continuous, high-speed drive across changing terrain. To support travellers and transport operators, full-service areas will be built along the route.

This would include emergency medical centres, fire stations, maintenance and rescue units, catering rest stops, fuel stations, electronic vehicle charging points, and safe, well-lit parking spaces. All these facilities will operate round the clock in keeping with our 24-hour economy. Finally, two modern toll plazas, one in Accra and one in Kumasi, will each have 20 lanes.

They’ll rely on automated tolling technology to ensure smooth, efficient revenue collection with minimal delays. The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is not just concrete and asphalt. It is a bold statement of intent, a promise to build faster, connect deeper, and transform Ghana’s future. The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is going to open up our dear country”.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said the John Mahama-led government is committed to completing the 198-kilometre Accra–Kumasi Expressway in three years.

Watch Ibrahim Mahama’s hilarious reaction after a lady asked for a photograph

0

Ibrahim Mahama, a Ghanaian business mogul, has been spotted in a viral video in a light-hearted moment with a lady at a public event.

The Ghanaian business mogul was captured walking alongside Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, when a lady approached him for a picture.

Ibrahim Mahama hilariously told the lady that President John Dramani Mahama was around and she was asking for a picture from him, a common man.

He stated, “President dey here and you dey look for common man like me?”

The lady laughing quickly replied, “Ahhh, you’re not.”

Ibrahim Mahama later invited the lady and another gentleman nearby to join them as they posed for the photograph.

In related news, Ibrahim Mahama has covered GH¢8,500 for the Life-Saving Surgery of 16-year-old Abdul Wahab Nimatu in Tamale.

This follows an appeal by Radio Tamale’s Du Sof.

The support includes GH¢5,000 for Surgery, GH¢1,500 for Medication, and GH¢2,000 for Hospital Admission.

Furthermore, Ibrahim Mahama has said one can not be the richest man forever, as one will die one day and leave their riches.

According to Ibrahim Mahama, if a rich person lives in a country where help is needed, and does not help that person is a stupid man.

Speaking to some creatives in the Ashanti Region, Ibrahim Mahama stated, “If you live in a country where help is needed and you don’t help, you are a stupid man. You can’t be the richest man in this country forever.

You’ll die and leave it one day. Let’s try and work together and put all our differences aside. It doesn’t matter. We will always have one president, one MP. We can’t have two MPs in one constituency”.

He added, “You can’t hold this country like that…People have come and gone, people will come and go so the small time we have in this country, let’s help one another. There is no big man; we are all the same”.

Sulley Muntari detained over $300,000 debt in Dubai – Reports

0

The fresh information making rounds suggests former Black Stars and Inter Milan player Sulley Ali Muntari has reportedly been detained in Dubai over $300,000 debt in Dubai.

Ghana Chronicles sharing the post on X stated, “According to sources, the celebrated footballer is allegedly being held over a financial dispute involving a US$300,000 loan he reportedly obtained from an individual, with a promise to repay it with substantial interest.

Muntari is said to have defaulted on the repayment, leading to his detention in the Emirates for some months now.

Reports further indicate that the ex-Inter Milan, AC Milan and Portsmouth star has been facing financial difficulties in recent years.

Unconfirmed information suggests that several of his assets, particularly landed properties in East Legon – Accra, acquired during his playing days, have been sold or are currently for sale”.

The post added, “A luxurious apartment property inside Villaggio at Dzorwulu over the Tetteh Quashie overpass in Accra, where he resided, The Herald heard, was rented.

The whereabouts of his wife, Menaye Donkor, a Ghanaian businesswoman, entrepreneur, and former Miss Universe Ghana, and their two children are unknown”.

Sully Muntari, who played for several top European clubs, including AC Milan, Portsmouth, and Inter Milan, also had a short stint with Accra Hearts of Oak.

He was also part of the iconic Inter Milan team led by Jose Mourinho that won the treble in 2010.

Sully Muntari was also a member of the legendary Black Stars team that went all the way to the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

However, Samuel Anim Addo, the Manager and representative of former Black Stars Striker Asamoah Gyan, has dismissed reports suggesting former Black Stars Midfielder Sulley Muntari was arrested in Dubai.

In an official statement shared on his verified X account, Anim Addo revealed Sulley Muntari is safe and currently residing in Dubai.

He wrote, “Sulley Muntari is safe and currently residing in Dubai, where he is focused on his personal affairs and business activities.

We urge the public to disregard the false reports circulating in the media. The outlets responsible for these publications are hereby warned to retract their statements and issue an apology. Failure to do so will result in legal action by Sulley Lawyers”.

“Instead of buying fighter jets, you are going to buy a luxury helicopter” – Ntim Fordjour fires gov’t

0

Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the John Mahama government following its decision to buy a luxury helicopter instead of fighter jets for the military.

According to Ntim Fordjour, the government are buying a luxury helicopter to fly the President and ministers around.

He further quizzed what fighter jets the military is going to use as a fighting force.

Speaking after the 2026 budget presentation, Rev Ntim Fordjour stated, “The Military is a fighting force. Instead of buying military fighter jets, you are going to buy a luxury helicopter to fly your President and ministers around. What about the soldiers? What fighter jets are they going to use as a fighting force?

Instead of you to prioritise the urgent critical needs, you are rather prioritising what you will use to fly around”, he added.

Rev Ntim Fordjour’s comments come following the Finance Minister Ato Forson announcing that the government will commence the procurement of four helicopters and two aircraft for the Ghana Air Force.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Mr Forson stated, “The Ghana Air Force will be retooled. Beginning in 2026, the Government of Ghana will initiate procurement processes for the acquisition of four modern helicopters, one long-range aircraft, and one medium-range aircraft. These are expected to be delivered within four years, provided the procurement is finalised in 2026”.

“In 2026, the government will procure two 72-meter Offshore Patrol Vessels equipped with helipads and combat systems. These vessels will enable the Navy to conduct long-endurance patrols, safeguard the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), prevent maritime crimes, protect critical offshore infrastructure, and support bunkering and oil field security operations,” he noted.

Mr Forson disclosed that the government will renegotiate a US$80 million agreement signed on August 13, 2020, with Messrs.

According to him, the deal was for the procurement of 19 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and related defence systems.

“Despite the disbursement of US$40 million to the supplier, the Ghana Army has not received a single APC. To prevent financial loss to the state, the government is renegotiating the agreement, which will be resubmitted to Parliament for consideration,” he stated.

However, some netizens reacting to Ntim Fordjour’s remarks stated, “Honestly, buying jet fighters for our military when the last time we actually went to war was during the Sagrenti War in the 1870s is like buying a Lamborghini for a man who only drives from his bedroom to the kitchen. The only time we will see these jet fighters being used will be on Independence Day”.

“But who are they going to fight with fighter jets?  Maybe it is not such a good idea to buy fighter jets”, another X user added.

“Politics in Ghana is so funny and hypocritical. Few years ago, these people were in. Support of buying a jet today, they’re against it, and those who were against it cooked out every opportunity and excuse to buy the jet”, a netizen added.

Additionally, an X user added, “All of a sudden, these people think they have the sense to give out submissions. Why didn’t your government perform when they had the chance? Jokers”

“The fact that you marry a pregnant woman doesn’t mean the child is yours” – NPP MP to NDC over economy

0

Dr Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has boldly claimed that the NDC government is benefiting from the prudent economic management under the former Akufo-Addo government.

According to Stephen Amoah, who used pregnancy as an example, he cited that someone can impregnate another, but that does not mean the child is yours if you marry that person.

He added that the NDC government have done virtually nothing about the economy and is just reaping the reward from the foundation laid by the former  Akufo-Addo government.

Speaking to the media before the 2026 budget reading, Dr Stephen Amoah stated, “Last quarter of 2024, the NPP government was able to restore the economy to the extent that we are benefiting from that. It’s a process. Is just like, sorry to say, pregnancy? Somebody can impregnate another person. If you marry the person and the person gives birth, it doesn’t mean that that person is your child. I don’t know if you understand what I’m saying.

You need DNA to confirm 100%. You need that thing to check whether it is true or not. But what I’m trying to say, the NDC government has done nothing wrong or bad”.

He further added, “What we are experiencing today is a result of the prudent economic management of the previous administration. And here in this house, please, I know your outfit is one of the best, even in Africa.

Go and get the last budget statement that Ato Forson presented. Open primary macro indicators. Check how the economy was performing and find out whether the NDC government has added even one or two to it, no”.

In a separate interview, Dr Amoah stated, “The economy is doing well, but the NDC government and this whole executive body have done virtually nothing about the economy. They haven’t done anything. What have they done?”.

“They are not underperforming their benchmark, but they are still in the preparatory stage. You can’t use six months just to turn things around. I’m not saying they are not doing well or they are doing well, but they should be honest with Ghanaians”.

“The performance of the economy today has virtually nothing to do with the NDC government. What we’re experiencing today is as a result of the prudent economic management of the previous administration,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has boldly declared that Ghana is back and open for business.

According to Ato Forson, the turnaround within 10 months of the Mahama administration is due to the resilience Ghanaian people and the government’s leadership.

The Finance Minister boldly told international partners and investors that Ghana has regained its economic stability.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Ato Forson stated, “To our international partners and investors, Ghana is back, strong, credible, and open for business. The story of Ghana is no longer one of crisis but of recovery and renewal”.

“The reforms we have undertaken are not quick fixes; they are the foundations of a resilient, competitive, and inclusive economy.”

He further recounted that the Mahama administration inherited a deeply distressed economy, “Ghana was indeed at the bottom of the abyss, a nation in distress with its economy bleeding and its people weary, yet yearning for leadership with the courage and vision to rebuild,”.

“Barely a year ago, our economy was uncertain. Today, the cedi in your pocket is stronger, prices are stabilising, and new opportunities are emerging across agriculture, industry, and technology,” he said.

Ato Forson added, “This progress is the fruit of sacrifice and discipline. Ghanaians tightened their belts, businesses adapted, and government stayed the course”.

In the video shared during the 2025 budget presentation by Ato Forson, he stated, “The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is the flagship of President Mohammed’s Big Push infrastructure program.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said the John Mahama-led government is committed to completing the 198-kilometre Accra–Kumasi Expressway in three years.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast on Friday, November 14, 2025, Dr Forson stated, “With the express road, you will pay something higher than a toll, but with a trunk road, you will not pay, or at worst, you pay only a toll fee.

“We are working on the financing for the Accra-Kumasi Express road. The engineer’s estimate is already out, but because they have yet to tender it out, I cannot put the financing out like that.

“We have budgeted 30 billion for Big Push. President Mahama will finish this project before he leaves office,” he said.

When asked if the 198km Accra–Kumasi Expressway could be completed within three years, Ato Forson stated, “Yes, we will get it done.”

Gov’t committed to completing Accra–Kumasi Expressway in three years – Ato Forson

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has said the John Mahama-led government is committed to completing the 198-kilometre Accra–Kumasi Expressway in three years.

The Finance Minister revealed, the expressway is one of the top priorities of the Mahama government under the Big Push Infrastructure Programme.

According to Ato Forson, the 198-kilometre Accra–Kumasi Expressway is designed to ease travel, improve safety and connect Ghana’s two largest cities.

He further revealed that the project will operate on a user-pay model, explaining that the toll will differ.

In related news, President John Mahama has made a bold declaration that Ghana will have the best roads in West Africa within the next 24 months under the Big Push Initiative.

According to John Mahama, his government is dedicated to constructing more roads over the next two years, with the aim of making transportation safer and more efficient.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony of the 195-kilometre Wenchi–Bole–Sawla–Wa Road, President Mahama stated, “I wish to repeat my apology and regret to the people of Ghana that with the start of the big push, the whole of Ghana is going to be a construction site for the next two years.

Wherever in this county you go, the road will be under construction, so I ask the Ghanaians to be patient with us and to accept the inconvenience.

Twenty-four months after the launch of the Big Push, you will have the best roads in West Africa”.

He further added, “For the past few years, this strategic artery has been allowed to deteriorate. Potholes, failed pavements, and broken drains have made travel difficult and hazardous.

Vehicle operating costs have risen by nearly 40%, and travel time between Wenchi, Sawla, and Wa can take up to eight hours. Because of the slow pace of movement, armed robberies have also become common. This is unacceptable in modern Ghana.”

According to President Mahama, when the road is completed, travel time will he cut by 50 per cent.

President Mahama added, “When completed, travel time between Wenchi and Wa will be cut by more than 50%, road accidents will reduce by about 45%, and farm produce will reach markets on time. This is the essence of the 24-hour economy: good roads that support production, processing, and logistics to run continuously, creating jobs and sustaining livelihoods.”

“Under this phase of the Big Push, we will reconstruct the Fufulso–Sawla Road and complete the Bole–Mandari–Chache connection to the Ivory Coast border”.

“This will create a continuous high-quality highway from Techiman through Wenchi, Bamboi, Sawla, Wa, and Hamile, connecting the agricultural heartlands of the middle belt to our northern frontier”, he revealed.

Mahama further directed contractors to prioritise local labour and local suppliers during the construction to boost the local economies.

“If you need labour, take the local people, don’t bring workers from elsewhere. If you need food or water, our people here are enterprising enough to supply you. I urge the youth from Bamboi, Banda, Tinga, Bole, and Sawla to take advantage of this opportunity”, he stated.

“Empty budget, hopeless, jobless and growthless” – Former Finance Minister Amin Adam

0

Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, the former Finance Minister, has boldly stated that the 2026 Budget statement is an empty budget, hopeless, jobless and growthless.

The former finance minister shared his quick remarks after the budget presentation in parliament yesterday, November 13, 2025, stating, “Empty budget, hopeless, jobless and growthless”.

However, some Ghanaians have shared their thought regarding the comments made by Amin Adam, stating, “These people are still in denial. They will stay in opposition for 64 years”.

“Maybe he describes himself and his party, and obviously not the budget”, one more X user added.

“You people claimed you created 2 million jobs, and so why are you talking about jobless again?”, another netizen added.

One more X user added, “This clearly shows that this greedy mdf doesn’t have the nation at heart but only wants power for personal gains”

Additionally, one more Ghanaian stated, “Are we really part of God’s creation? What is this? Ask him what he thinks is hopeless and growthless about the budget, and see him fumble for

Why can’t we be positive and hope the country becomes better for us all, rather than go on with this partisan whatever”,

“Of course, because if it were up to them, they would create many loopholes to exploit for their benefit, but since they are out, it hurts to see someone else do exceedingly better within less than a year compared to the nonsense the NPP and this man, plus his on-the-run predecessor, did”, another X user added.

Also, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in parliament, has fired shots at the NDC-led government over its failure to provide clarity on its flagship 24-Hour Economy policy.

The Minority leader noted that despite the campaign promises that the 24-Hour Economy policy would create massive employment opportunities for Ghanaians, the 2026 budget failed to mention it.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy in Parliament, revealed that the government is targeting total revenue and grants of GH¢268.1 billion for 2026.

He further revealed that the government aims to create up to 800,000 new jobs across various sectors.

The Finance Minister also highlighted that GH¢110 million has been allocated in the 2026 budget for the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Programme.

Afenyo-Markin, speaking shortly after the Minister for Finance’s budget statement, quizzed the Mahama government on where the one job running three shifts is.

According to Afenyo-Markin, Ghanaian youths are asking for the NDC’s promised one job running three shifts to provide three jobs.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, Afenyo-Markin stated, “When Ghanaians voted for the NDC, they said they were bringing them jobs. They said they would do this through their flagship 24-Hour Economy — one job running three shifts to provide three jobs.

“Go to Ga Mashie and other places; the youth there are asking where the jobs are or the 24-Hour Economy. But the budget didn’t even mention it. Yet you have MPs singing about a policy they cannot even see”, he added.

In related news, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that President John Mahama has directed all public schools from basic to secondary to purchase staple food items produced in Ghana.

The directive announced in the 2026 budget is aimed at supporting Ghana’s agricultural sector and ensuring market stability for Ghana’s local farmers.

The Mahama government initiative is dubbed a “Buy Ghana, Eat Ghana”.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Ato Forson stated, “President Mahama has also directed all schools, from basic to secondary, to purchase rice, maize, chicken and eggs produced in Ghana only.”

The “Buy Ghana, Eat Ghana” directive covers a significant portion of the national food budget.

The Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the School Feeding Programme, the Free Secondary Education Secretariat, and the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFBC) have been tasked to rigorously enforce the directive explicitly.

Also, the Finance Minister has announced that Ghana’s economy is breathing again, stronger and steadier.

Dr Forson stated, “Ghana’s economy is breathing again, stronger, steadier and full of promise.

“We will soon become servants”- Ken Agyapong warns NPP Akans

0

Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, has warned the Akans in the party that they will soon end up becoming servants if they are not united.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, Akans must support their own, arguing that northern political actors within the NPP are uniting behind a single candidate, which could lead to Akans, whom he described as royals, becoming servants.

The former Assin Central lawmaker noted that there is a high level of disunity among the Akans groups within the NPP.

Speaking to NPP delegates in Kyebi in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Ken Agyapong stated, “Let me tell you something. My grandparent told me something — that what is good is what is your own”.

Let us be very careful because we are making a mistake. Some people are able to get together and say, ‘This is our brother.’ But when it gets to our turn, we are not able to unite. We shall remain servants if we don’t change our minds. If we remain disunited, we shall remain servants for long. I’m speaking Twi to you, and I am not afraid of anyone. I will speak my mind.

When you go to some places, they will say, ‘I would have supported you, but if I show my face, they will say I’ve betrayed my brother.’ But as for you, an Abuakwa person, have you not betrayed your brother? What you would not be happy with if it were done to Kweku, don’t do it to Kwesi, he added.

Ken Agyapong further highlighted that minority tribes are threatening and discriminating against the majority Akan tribe, “I am surprised that we, the majority, sit down for the minority to discriminate against us. Tribal politics are going on, and it looks like you people have not seen it. The royals will soon become servants if we don’t change our attitude. I am telling you, and I’m not afraid”.

He boldly added, “Today I am standing in Nana Akufo-Addo’s hometown and speaking Twi to you. We are not afraid of anybody. In which country do you allow the minority to threaten the majority?

Only in Ghana. It is only in Ghana that we allow the minority to threaten the majority, and it is because we don’t love ourselves. Let your Akyem be of concern to you. If we don’t do that, they will take us for granted in Ghana”.

Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia has said that after serving the NPP for 17 years, how can anyone call him a stranger within the NPP?

Dr Bawumia cited that his roots within the NPP can be traced to the United Party (UP) and the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition.

Speaking to delegates and party faithful during his tour of the Oti Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “Today, some of my opponents say I am an outsider and a stranger, who does not deserve to lead the party because of where I come from.

This is dangerous, divisive and contrary to the diversity of our unifying tradition,” he stated.

He added, “Those who say this don’t understand our history. Our tradition is the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, formed by all the main tribes across Ghana. This is the tradition of the NPP”.

“If Dr Bawumia, after 17 years of service to the party, is described as an outsider and stranger, how do we grow the party to attract new members from all parts of Ghana?” he asked.

Dr Bawumia further declared, “Any member from any part of the country can lead the party if you are capable. It does not matter where you are—Dagomba, Ga, Dangbe, Sefwi, Ewe, Dagarti, Wala, Bono, Asante, Akyem, Kwahu, Mamprusi, Kusasi, Konkomba, Fante, Frafra, Guan, Gonja, Sisala, Kasena, Kotokoli, Bimoba, or Chakosi.”

“Circulating letter about Deputy Defence Minister resignation fake” – Presidency

The Office of the President has dismissed allegations claiming that the Deputy Defence Minister Brogya Genfi’s resignation has been accepted by President John Mahama.

On social media, there was a rumour circulating on November 12, 2025, alleging that the Deputy Minister of Defence had resigned following the El-Wak tragedy during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.

In a post shared on X by the government’s Information Services Department (ISD) stated, “The Office of the President has not issued any such statement. The circulating letter claiming that President Mahama has accepted the resignation of a Deputy Minister for Defence is fake”.

In related news, Brogya Genfi has ordered all screening personnel who were stationed at the El-Wak sports stadium during the military recruitment exercise to step aside.

According to an X post shared by MP Edem Agbana, the military personnel have been ordered to step aside for an investigation into the stampede by the Deputy Minister of Defence.

In a post shared on X by Edem Agbana on Thursday, November 13, 2025, it stated, “Deputy Defence Minister, Brogya Genfi, has stated that all personnel responsible for the screening process during the military recruitment have been asked to step aside while official investigations into the stampede are conducted”.

However, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the suspension of its military recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

The exercise has been suspended until further notice.

According to GAF, the decision was taken to ensure the safety and proper coordination of the recruitment process.

President Mahama also paid a visit to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra following the tragic stampede on Wednesday, November 12.

Mahama was accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Cassiel Ato Forson, Felix Kwakye and other government officials.

His visit to the 37 Military Hospital was to obtain further information regarding the tragic stampede.

Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama, speaking at the gathering at the launch of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Poultry Initiative, has said all six victims in the GAF recruitment tragedy were female.

President Mahama stated, “a heartbreaking loss for the entire nation. The tragic news is that I have been informed by the military that six young women, who simply sought an opportunity to serve their nation, lost their lives in this heartbreaking incident. We are praying for the 12 others who remain in critical condition”.

Also, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has donated GH¢100,000 to support the medical treatment of victims injured in the El-Wak Sports Stadium stampede.

“It is only in Ghana that we allow minorities to threaten the majority” – Ken Agyapong goes tribal

0

Kennedy Agyapong, an NPP flagbearer aspirant, has caused a stir following his recent rants about minority tribes threatening and discriminating against the majority Akan tribe.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, it is only in Ghana that we allow the minority to threaten the majority.

Speaking to NPP delegates in Kyebi in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Ken Agyapong stated, “I am surprised that we, the majority, sit down for the minority to discriminate against us.

Kennedy Agyapong further warned the Akans in the party that they will soon end up becoming servants if they are not united.

Ken Agyapong added, “Let me tell you something.

Also, Dr Bawumia has said that after serving the NPP for 17 years, how can anyone call him a stranger within the NPP?

“Ghana’s problem has been borrowing” – Ato Forson

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has stated that Ghana’s problem has always been borrowing.

According to Ato Forson, the country sometimes borrows just for consumption.

Ato Forson revealed he has no intention to rush back to the international capital market for loans.

He emphasised that Ghana must break the cycle of reckless borrowing, adding that borrowing must be deliberate and growth-focused.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express after presenting the 2026 Budget, Dr Ato Forson stated, “It has been Ghana’s problem, borrowing, borrowing, sometimes borrowing for consumption”.

He stressed. “I’m not one of those people. I’m not in a hurry to go to the capital market to borrow, no way. If I’m to take money, obviously there’s a budget, there’s a deficit to a stent, and you have to finance the deficit. I will take it domestically,” he said.

“We should be able to borrow and set up a domestic infrastructure board in cedi, so that you, if you have money and you want to support infrastructure, you should be able to support the government,” he said.

He added, “The appetite is not going into the capital market just to borrow. Like in the past, we saw it 3 billion every year.”

“You want to borrow smart, what does that mean? Borrow for things that you think the multiplier is better,” he said. “Let me put it simpler, not to borrow for shopping, okay, borrow for growth.”

Also, Dr Ato Forson, during the 2026 Budget reading, has told Ghana’s international partners and investors that Ghana is “back, strong, credible, and open for business.”

He stated, “To our international partners and investors, Ghana is back, strong, credible, and open for business. The story of Ghana is no longer one of crisis but of recovery and renewal”.

“The reforms we have undertaken are not quick fixes; they are the foundations of a resilient, competitive, and inclusive economy.”

“Ghana was indeed at the bottom of the abyss, a nation in distress with its economy bleeding and its people weary, yet yearning for leadership with the courage and vision to rebuild,” Dr Forson stated.

Meanwhile, the  World Bank has warned the John Mahama-led government not to rush back to the Eurobond market.

According to the World Bank, international investors will see Ghana’s quick return to the World Bank as an easy way out.

The Bank urged the Mahama administration to fix Ghana’s economy to strengthen the country’s fiscal and growth fundamentals, and to convince the private sector that public debt is sustainable.

The World Bank stated, “Importantly, the new administration [Mahama Administration] should also refrain from a hasty return to the Eurobond market, which international investors would interpret as taking the easy way out,” the report said. “Instead, the government should focus on strengthening the country’s fiscal and growth fundamentals and on convincing the private sector… that public debt is on a sustainable path.”

“Sudden macroeconomic stops and crises have led the country to request a record number of IMF programmes, remaining under active IMF programmes for 40 out of its 68 years of history,” the Bank observed.

However, President John Mahama has already echoed during his media encounter that he was not in favour of an early return to the capital market.

According to John Mahama, Ghana has survived without going to the capital markets.

President Mahama stated, “We have survived without going to the capital markets. We’ve survived without borrowing. … As the President, I would not favour a quick return to the international capital market. I think we should go like this for a while and consolidate the economy before we look at external financing.”

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has announced that President John Mahama has directed all public schools from basic to secondary to purchase staple food items produced in Ghana.

The Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the School Feeding Programme, the Free Secondary Education Secretariat, and the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFBC) have been tasked to rigorously enforce the directive explicitly

Also, the Finance Minister has announced that Ghana’s economy is breathing again, stronger and steadier.

Dr Forson stated, “Ghana’s economy is breathing again, stronger, steadier and full of promise.

This is not just a recovery; it is a reset. It is the story of a nation that refused to stay down.

“This is a rebirth from the ashes of a daunting inheritance; a heavy burden laid

upon us by the previous administration”, he noted.

“It is the story of Ghanaians who endured hardship with dignity and held on to hope when the road was rough,” he noted.

Additionally, Dr Ato Forson, during the 2026 Budget reading, has told Ghana’s international partners and investors that Ghana is “back, strong, credible, and open for business.”

He stated, “To our international partners and investors, Ghana is back, strong, credible, and open for business. The story of Ghana is no longer one of crisis but of recovery and renewal”.

Gov’t allocates GH₵150m to Black Stars for 2026 FIFA World Cup

0

The Government of Ghana, in the 2026 budget, has allocated GH₵150 million to the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

The GH₵150 million has been allocated to the Black Stars as part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson announced on Thursday, November 13, 2025, while presenting the 2026 Budget Statement.

He revealed that the allocation is part of the government’s broader commitment to support national teams’ participation and to enhance sports development.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson stated, “The government’s sustained investment in sports yielded impressive results, with the Black Stars qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup”.

“An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated for the Black Stars to participate in the World Cup,” he added.

Dr Forson further emphasised the government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and talent development nationwide.

He revealed plans to construct new stadia in selected regions.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Kofi Adams had earlier stated that the government would not support using government funds to send supporters to the World Cup.

The Sports Minister confirmed that the Government of Ghana will not allocate funds to transport supporters to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to Kofi Adams, if supporters want to go to the World Cup, they have to find their own resources, and the government could help facilitate their travel documents.

Kofi Adams cited the country’s economic challenges and the need to prioritise investment in local sports infrastructure.

He argued that while government funding is off the table, the Sport Minister encouraged individuals and corporate organisations to assist fans with travel arrangements.

Speaking on Peace FM Kokrokoo, Kofi Adams stated, “So far government has not given that indication that supporters will be taken to the World Cup. Well, I don’t think that it is something I will recommend”.

“We need money to build a Sports facility in Ghana, then we are going to spend money to transport supporters all the way to America in where that money could have been used to build multipurpose stadiums in some of the communities”.

He added, “If you want to go, find your own resources, and we can facilitate your travel documents, then you go, or we should mobilise from the cooperate, both private and public and give support to the fans.

The government can team up and get the cooperate to support, that will be a good idea, but allocating state money in the budget to transport supporters to the World Cup, I don’t think that it will happen”.

The Sports Minister further revealed that Ato Forson has not made any provision for supporters in the 2026 budget to be read on November 13, 2025.

“So far, what the Minister of Finance has captured in his budget is the cost of preparation for the national team’s appearance; there is no competent in the budget for supporters”, he added.

GH¢150m allocated to NAIMOS to fight galamsey in 2026 budget

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has revealed that an amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in the 2026 fiscal year to fight galamsey.

According to Dr Forson, the allocation demonstrates the Mahama government’s continued commitment to protecting Ghana’s natural environment.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Ato Forson stated, “An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) for their activities against illegal mining and forest degradation”.

He added that the GH¢150m allocated will support ongoing enforcement, intelligence, and monitoring operations led by NAIMOS in the fight against illegal mining.

It will be recalled, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, some months ago revealed the staggering potential financial scope of the anti-galamsey effort.

According to the Lands Minister, a comprehensive fight against illegal mining could cost the nation an estimated $10 billion.

The Lands minister is quoted by 3 news to have said, “The fight against galmsey could cost $10 billion”.

NAIMOS was established to coordinate national efforts against illegal mining by integrating the work of security agencies, regulatory bodies, and local authorities.

Meanwhile, Ten heavily armed men impersonating the anti-galamsey taskforce at the Nyankamam-Armori Forest have been arrested by the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The heavily armed men were arrested by NAIMOS at the Nyankamam-Armori Forest in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

The suspects were said to be operating with impunity, extorting money from illegal miners.

NAIMOS, in a dawn operation, led to the arrest of the group. The suspects were found with weapons and talismans.

They have since been handed to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and prosecution.

In related news, NAIMOS has arrested Iddrisu Zakari, popularly known as Yaayaa.

Iddrisu Zakari has been labelled as a notorious galamsey kingpin involved in illegal mining activities within the Osino Residential Area.

Reports suggest the NAIMOS operation took place on Monday, November 10, 2025, at about 6:06 p.m.

According to reports, Iddrisu Zakari was arrested at Bonsu after agreeing to meet NAIMOS.

He agreed to meet with a NAIMOS operative to negotiate the release of his arrested thugs and to discuss a possible halt to the ongoing inquiries into his operations.

Iddrisu Zakari has been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

Recall,  NAIMOS conducted a dawn operation at Osino in the Eastern Region, arresting 36 suspected illegal miners on Friday, November 7, 2025.

The group includes 32 Nigerien nationals and 4 Ghanaians, reportedly caught mining illegally along the Birim River in the Fanteakwa South District.

In a post on social media, Felix Kwaye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications, stated, “NAIMOS Conducts Massive Dawn Strike in Eastern Region, arrests Several Foreign Galamseyers (32 Nigerien and 4 Ghanaians) in Swoop at Osino in the Fanteakwa South District – 8 November 2025”.

“There is no executive that can control me” – Speaker Bagbin declares

0

Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has dismissed claims that the executive arm of government controls his actions.

According to Speaker Bagbin, no executive can control me.

He stressed that no executive authority can dictate his conduct or decisions.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, Alban Bagbin boldly stated, “The statement you just made is a very serious statement. As I sit here, there’s no executive that can control me”.

Speaker Bagbin made these remarks following Asante-Akim Central Member of Parliament Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, who, during the debate on the Appointments Committee’s report on Chief Justice nominee Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, claimed that the executive was exerting undue influence over both the legislature and the judiciary.

He added that such interference was among the reasons the Minority walked out during the vetting of Chief Justice nominee Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi also argued that ongoing court cases challenging the removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo made it unacceptable for Parliament to proceed with the vetting.

Meanwhile, Parliament has approved the nomination of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Chief Justice of Ghana.

This follows heated vetting and debate on the Appointments Committee’s report.

During the approval process in parliament, the minority rejected the voice vote and demanded a head count, which ended with the Majority recording 169 members while the Minority recorded 63 members.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is now expected to be sworn into office by President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House in the coming days.

In related news regarding Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, has donated GH¢100,000 to support the medical treatment of victims injured in the El-Wak Stadium stampede.

Speaker Bagbin, accompanied by the leadership of Parliament, visited the victims at the 37 Military Hospital on Thursday.

He commiserates with the injured and their families.

According to him, his gesture was to help alleviate the financial burden on the victims.

He further expressed grave concern about the recurring challenges associated with public sector recruitment exercises.

Speaker Bagbin highlighted the need for urgent reforms to make the process safer and more efficient.

“We are going to do galamsey in Parliament” – Angry youths say after anti-Galamsey task force raid

0

Angry youth in Ahafo Nkaseim have expressed their frustration against the John Mahama-led NDC government over its constant interference in their galamsey activities.

According to the Angry youths, the Mahama government does not want to allow them to engage in galamsey activities, so they are coming to do galamsey at the parliament.

Speaking in a viral video, the enraged youth at Ahafo Nkaseim stated, “They said they won’t let us do galamsey; we are going to do galamsey in Parliament. We are going to steal from those who led us to vote for them”.

The enraged youth outburst follows an anti-Galamsey task force raid that destroyed their illegal mining settlement.

Netizens reacting to the viral video stated, “What they said in anger was also a confession: they’ve learned from their leaders. They watched politicians mine public funds, strip communities bare, and call it governance. So when they vow to do galamsey in Parliament, it’s not rebellion, it’s imitation. The youth aren’t the disease. They’re the symptom”.

Another netizen added, “Hot rhetoric, poor strategy. Threatening to ‘do galamsey in Parliament’ is just theatre; stealing is criminal whether in the bush or the chamber. Channel that fury into demanding jobs, holding kingpins and politicians accountable, and stop romanticising lawlessness”.

“These individuals have experienced extreme poverty, and galamsey has significantly improved their standard of living; they won’t give it up easily”, one more netizen added.

One more X user added, “I keep saying that from the previous government to the current one. None is using the right approach to end galamsey.  These are people who have tasted huge sums of money before.  If you really want to stop galamsey,  first educate, and start providing jobs for these communities”.

“@GhPoliceService @NAIMOSGhana, can you please catch those in the video too? This is the way to bring sanity. They’ll stop without knowing they have stopped. Soon, all this nonsense and illiterate mindsets will reset back to being human. Ethiopia and co are developing and flourishing, but this particular people are dragging Ghana back, and they are those who vote for people like Nana Akufo-Addo and his corrupt NPP team. They don’t know what accountability and growth are; all they care about is their stomach and selves, hence it gives room for people like Ken Ofori Atta and family to raid, loot or heist from us”, one more netizen added.

The galamseyers appeared at the site armed with a pistol and attempted to bribe the Task Force with a cash amount of GHS 100,000.

“The performance of the economy has nothing to do with the NDC gov’t” – Stephen Amoah

0

Dr Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has said the performance of the economy today has nothing to do with the John Mahama administration.

According to Dr Stephen Amoah, the Mahama government is reaping the reward from the foundation laid by the former  Akufo-Addo government.

He boldly asserted that the NDC government have done virtually nothing about the economy.

Speaking ahead of the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement on Thursday, November 13, Dr Amoah stated, “The economy is doing well, but the NDC government and this whole executive body have done virtually nothing about the economy.

Also, the member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Opong Nkrumah, has claimed that forex injections through the gold purchase programme, introduced in 2021 under the Akufo-Addo administration, as the factor that has enabled the BoG to have enough forex to ensure market intervention.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated, “As we celebrate 60 years of the Ghana Cedi, to many Ghanaians, the most important question is, what is the value of the Cedi? What can it really buy?

“That brings to mind two specific questions: the question of inflation targeting and inflation management, and the exchange rate. Mr Speaker, if you have studied the economic history of our country, our cedi performs very well at some point in time and also very poorly at some point in time. Whenever a government has access to large volumes of forex reserves to do what they call market intervention, the Cedi is able to stand its ground against international currencies, and whenever we run short of hard currency, the depreciation gets very dire”.

“I am happy to reiterate the comment made by the Minister for Education that the governor announced about 37.4 per cent appreciation of the Cedi year to date. The question is how? But I think the government has answered it already by saying that it is because they are doing market intervention. In fact, this month alone, the BoG is dumping about 1.3billion Dollars onto the market, that’s the reason for the appreciation, so where are they getting these dollars from?”

He added, “Mr Speaker, it is because in 2021 a gold purchase programme was introduced for the first time in our history, aimed at enabling the state, through the BoG and the PMMC, to buy gold and increase our gold reserves, that is why we moved from 8 tonnes to 30 tonnes. At that time, gold prices were averaging about 1,700 dollars per ounce.

“Today, gold prices are averaging about 4,000 dollars per ounce. So, because of this gold purchase programme, we are able to mobilise a lot of forex, and the central bank is now doing a lot of market intervention with the forex. Has anything strange happened? No. It is because of the conditions of the market and the introduction of the gold purchase programme that today we are able to mobilise a lot of forex through the BoG and the Godbod, which used to be PMMC, and this forex is now being dumped onto the market.”

“It begs the question that if you leave the market to the normal forces of the demand and supply of currency without the market intervention, will we get the 37.4% appreciation? Respectfully, I doubt,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is expected to present the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament today, Thursday, November 13, 2025.

His presentation is in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution.

The Mahama government has detailed that the 2026 Budget will focus on job creation, economic expansion, and the Big Push Agenda, among other key initiatives.

Wontumi files application at the High Court to unfreeze his bank accounts

0

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has filed an application at the High Court seeking to unfreeze his bank accounts.

It will be recalled, the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) froze the bank accounts of Chairman Wontumi following the prosecution into his engagement in illegal mining.

Appiah-Kubi, a former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North and lawyer for Wontumi, stated, “Today, we are going to move an application to defreeze [the accounts].”

The FIC, acting in accordance with Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020. Froze the accounts, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (a.k.a. Chairman Wontumi), Akonta Mining, Hallmark Civil Engineering Limited

“In accordance with Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044), you are hereby directed to immediately freeze all accounts in relation to and in association with the above-named subjects pending further directives,” parts of a letter from the FIC stated.

Also, Paul Yandoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), has made a shocking claim against the John Mahama-led government.

According to Paul Yandoh, the government has frozen the Mobile Money account of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

He claimed the move is an attempt to frustrate Chairman Wontumi, who is facing multiple charges related to illegal mining activities.

He further highlighted that what Wontumi is going through is more than what Job went through in the Bible.

Speaking on Wontumi TV on Friday, October 17, 2025, Paul Yandoh lamented, “… Do you know that Chairman Wontumi’s Mobile Money wallet has been frozen? He cannot send nor receive money.

What Wontumi is going through is more than what Job went through in the Bible. This must be condemned by Ghanaians”.

Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi has won a defamation suit at the Supreme Court.

Wontumi won the case against Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, the former Minister of Trade and Industry and now Ghana’s Special Envoy for Reparations.

Ekwow Spio-Garbrah sued Wontumi in 2022 at the High Court in Kumasi, seeking $10 million for allegedly defaming him.

According to Ekwow Spio-Garbrah,  Wontumi and his media house defamed him by calling him a thief ahead of the 2020 general elections.

However, the Kumasi High Court reportedly threw out the case, citing it had no merit, with Ekwow Spio-Garbrah asked to pay GH¢150,000 as costs.

Reports suggest the Supreme Court heard the appeal on November 12, 2025, and in a unanimous decision, dismissed the appeal filed by Ekwow Spio-Garbrah.

The Law Platform in a post revealed that the Acting Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, chaired the five-member panel of the Supreme Court made up of Justice Issifu Omoro Tanko Amadu, Justice Emmanuel Yonny Kulendi, Justice Ernest Gaewu, and Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie.

“It’s heartbreaking” – Dr Zaato slams Pusiga MP over El-Wak tragedy remarks

0

Dr Joshua Zaato, a political scientist and senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, has slammed the Member of Parliament for Pusiga, Laadi Ayii Ayamba.

According to Dr Zaato, Laadi Ayii Ayamba’s comments on the floor of parliament following the El-Wak tragedy are heartbreaking.

He revealed the MPs’ comments were deeply disappointing and out of touch with the grief families of the victims were enduring.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on November 13, 2025, Dr Zaato stated, “If you had nothing to say, young girls died, mothers were mourning, mothers were crying. When you have such people making policies for us, you wonder where we are as a country. When you have such mediocrity, it’s heartbreaking”.

“Everybody in the chamber was cringing. You could feel it. People were like, ‘no, no, no this woman is not ready to be called honourable”,  he stated.

Their remarks follow the MP for Pusiga, who claimed the El-Wak tragedy during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise was beyond human control.

According to the Pusiga MP, yesterday was the day the Almighty Allah had ordained for them to die.

Speaking on the Floor of Parliament, Laadi Ayii Ayamba said, “There is nothing that happens that doesn’t happen at the right time. This is what the Almighty Allah has ordained for them. Today is their day. No matter how, no matter what, no matter who was there, as what.”

She added, “Even if we brought all the presidents of the world to sit there as ministers or whatsoever, once today is ordained for them to die, they will. And this is what has happened. Unless you don’t believe in the oneness of God, unless you don’t believe in the oneness of the Almighty Allah, it is not anybody. It is not anybody.”

Ayamba further clarified, “Who wanted them to die? There is no single officer there who wanted even one single soul to pass.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed six people have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

Reports suggest the chaos occurred around 6:20 a.m. when applicants breached security protocols.

According to GAF, 28 people were taken to the 37 Military Hospital.

They further revealed that six people have died, with five in the ICU and another 12 in critical condition.

Also, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has donated GH¢100,000 to support the medical treatment of victims injured in the El-Wak Sports Stadium stampede.

He commiserates with the injured and their families.

Old Tafo MP demands apology from 4 social media users over claims linking him to late Samuel Aboagye’s widow

0

Ekow Vincent Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, is demanding a retraction and apology for defamatory statements published against him linking him to the late Samuel Aboagye’s widow.

In a statement filed by lawyers for Ekow Vincent Assafuah revealed that he is demanding an apology from 4 social media users over false claims linking him to late Samuel Aboagye’s widow or face a lawsuit.

In a social media post, the Old Tafo MP stated, “My lawyer has served a formal notice demanding the retraction and apology of defamatory statements published about me by the Deputy CEO for Petroleum Hub Development Corporation and 3 others.

Reputation is a priceless asset built through years of service, sacrifice, and integrity”.

In one of the claims against the MP, the social media user identified as Abena Afriyie stated, “At such age having occupied deputy ministerial position and being MP and if you can’t find a wife but go after people’s legitimate wives then you are cursed. RIP Samuel Aboagye”.

Also, Vincent Assafuah has boldly stated, he is not the father of the late Samuel Aboagye’s child.

According to Vincent Assafuah, Ghanaians should stop calling and tagging him.

In a Facebook post, he stated, “I’m not the father of Samuel Aboagye’s child. Stop calling and tagging me.”

The rumpus follows: the family of Samuel Aboagye is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

The family has sued her for obstructing the investigation, but she’s also asking the court to stop the DNA test mission.

However, Abigail Aboagye has refused to consent to the test and has filed a petition in court to stop the family from proceeding with it.

Rumours suggest, Abigail Aboagye was allegedly having an affair with one Ashanti Region MP (name withheld), even before he passed away.

In court, Mrs Aboagye’s legal representatives have reportedly filed a motion asking the court to reject the family’s request.

The Obuasi District Court has adjourned the case to December 23, 2025.

Angel FM Kumasi (ABN) reporter, Chuku Joseph, detailing the matter on Angel FM Kumasi, stated, “Ali (Host), what is happening is that among the helicopter crash victims was Samuel Aboagye, the Deputy NADMO Director. We were called by Nana Kwabena Gyamara Oyiakwan II, the Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of Samuel, to witness the court proceedings.

“The issue is that after Samuel’s death, his wife, Abigail, was contacted for a DNA test requested by the government to confirm the identities of the crash victims.

He added, “At the time, she was in the United States. She initially agreed to provide their child for the test, but when the date arrived, several calls to her went unanswered. When the family visited her residence, they discovered she had left with the child.”

“According to the family, while Samuel was alive, he allegedly expressed doubts about the paternity of the child, claiming the boy resembled a child of a certain politician, who is a Member of Parliament in the Ashanti Region,” Chuku noted.

The Angel FM reporter added, “The chief mentioned the politician’s name, but since there is no concrete evidence so for now, we cannot disclose it publicly”.

“It appears that she was allegedly dating the said politician before marrying Samuel, and the family claims the child resembles the politician. Because of these suspicions, the family wants a DNA test conducted by MediLab in Kumasi. But Abigail refused, left for the United States, and the family has now brought the issue before the Obuasi District Court,” Chuku explained.

“The sad part is they have already selected persons for the recruitment” – Ken Agyapong on El-Wak tragedy

0

Kennedy Agyapong, an NPP presidential candidate hopeful, has levelled some allegations against the government and the Ghana Armed Forces in the ongoing recruitment exercise.

He explained that the sad part of the El-Wak tragedy yesterday was that GAF had already selected their recruits and the recruitment exercise was just a façade.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, applicants who are seen standing in the scorching sun will be rejected as the government and GAF have already selected persons for the recruitment through other channels.

Speaking to some NPP delegates during his campaign, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “The sad part in all this is that the young person who died, they have already selected persons for the recruitment. This is the truth I have been speaking about: that you miss me, but you are the same people who say I should be quiet.

This is the truth: the politicians think they are more sensible than everyone. I have been there before. I am telling you, after they have recruited their own person, they will now announce recruitment for young people to go and stand in the sun, after all that, you will not be recruited. They have already selected persons for the recruitment”.

Kennedy Agyapong further made a bold declaration, “If you like, vote for if you like don’t, for the sake of the country anybody I will appoint anybody who will sell an appointment; I will arrest that person”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to Ken Agyapong’s comments stated, “The cheap politics is becoming too much, people are always waiting for a tragedy to happen so they can use it for political advantage. Both NPP and NDC have been using this procedure for decades; this is not new. People even die during training. we shouldn’t make this look like a political agenda, but rather find solutions to prevent future incidents like this”.

“This man sometimes talks as if he is not a politician…He has been part of this corrupt and inefficient system in this Country.  Suddenly, you have become an angel”, another netizen added.

Another X user added, “Oh yes. Even in 2021, when his party was in power, that was exactly what they did to us. They made us line up in the scorching sun, and we never got recruited. Later on, we heard recruitment for sale.

Those who will be recruited are at home relaxing and having a good time while watching others struggle, but they will never be recruited. The sad truth”.

“They think all the parties are the same.  Some things, some do it differently, at least we can see from this government, the past 8 years, did you see any government jobs being advertised? How many people have people paid money to be picked? He’s speaking from his time, not from what’s happening…!!!!”, one more X user claimed.

His comments follow: The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed six people have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

The suspects Issifu Addae, Stephen Gyamfi, Sampson, and Fosu allegedly visited the disputed land to stop the developer from continuing work and threatened to teach the deceased a lesson.

The Police Investigators further suspect the newly installed Akwamuhene, Nana Akyeampong Duodu, might have masterminded the murder.

Nana Akyeampong Duodu is said to have travelled to the United States at the time of the murder to establish an alibi.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has placed a GH₵1million bounty on Mark Agingre, a native of Binduri in the Upper East Region.

Ato Forson, Controller, accused of illegal GH¢1.4bn withdrawal from DACF

0

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, and the Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Agyei, have been accused by the Minority in parliament of allegedly colluding to unlawfully withdraw GH¢1.4 billion from the District Assemblies Common Fund.

According to the minority, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Kwasi Agyei withdrew GH¢1.4 billion from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) account at the Bank of Ghana in November 2025.

They further alleged that the withdrawal follows an earlier removal of GH¢11.3 million from the same account.

The minority argued that the move deepened the financial constraints of local authorities and stalled development projects in the country.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, addressing journalists in Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, highlighted that the action is a blatant disregard for the law.

He further called on President John Mahama to intervene in the situation.

According to Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Supreme Court ruling affirms that DACF disbursements are constitutional payments and not subject to ministerial directives.

Annoh Dompreh, speaking to the media, stated, “On November 4, they paid. The Controller and Accountant General released it, and it went into the account of the District Assemblies Common Fund. Then, on November 11, they blocked the same payment. On November 12, they swept the account. The amount involved is some GH¢1.4 billion”.

“The Minister of Finance and the Controller and Accountant General cannot direct or reassign these payments. As we speak, it is clear that the Finance Minister, together with the Controller, is micromanaging the funds of the DACF and redirecting these funds to wherever they so please,” he added.

Ato Forson, in a post on X ahead of the 2026 Budget Presentation stated, “I journeyed to Takoradi yesterday to inspect the abandoned Market Circle project.

Standing at the heart of this vibrant city, the site reminded me of the immense promise it holds for thousands of traders and families.

I’m pleased to assure our compatriots there that the contractor will return to the site early next year as we conclude the ongoing debt restructuring”.

Ato Forson also visited the Takoradi Market Circle, he stated, “I am deeply grateful to everyone at Takoradi Market Circle for the warm welcome, the honest feedback, and the heartfelt words of encouragement.

It was truly uplifting to hear that prices of goods and services have generally seen significant reductions — a clear sign that our collective sacrifices are paying off.

We will continue to work tirelessly to deliver on our promises and build the better future you deserve”.

Chairman Wontumi wins case at the Supreme Court

0

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has won a defamation suit at the Supreme Court.

Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, in his writ, stated, “All that Inusah Fuseini is saying is that even he, Inusah Fuseini, is a thief. If you mention Spio-Garbrah’s name, he is a thief, Sylvester Mensah is a thief, Joshua Alabi is a thief, all their presidential candidates are thieves, so if John Mahama is a thief, then let us allow him to continue stealing”.

However, Chairman Wontumi, in his statement, stated he meant no malice but was only interpreting the statement made by Inusah Fuseini.

Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi was in court for one of his mining cases.

In Court, the state prosecutors in the case against Chairman Wontumiserved notice to the High Court that they will rely on four witnesses in the trial.

Chairman Wontumi, Kwame Antwi pleaded not guilty and are currently on bail.

Furthermore, Prophet Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, has dropped a prophecy regarding Chairman Wontumi.

According to Prophet Roja, Wontumi will be jailed for 15 years if Ghanaians and his loved ones do not pray for him.

He emphasised that Wontumi has wronged someone who is now in a position of power and influence, capable of ensuring his imprisonment.

Prophet Roja emphasised that an urgent spiritual intervention is needed by  Wontumi to avert the foretold prophecy.

Speaking on Onua TV with Captain Smart, Prophet Roja stated, “If Ghanaians don’t pray for Wontumi, he would be jailed for 15 years. I am saying it on TV, his loved ones should pray for Wontumi.

It is all over the news, I am seeing that they have written the number 15, and it is on TV that they have jailed Wontumi for 15 years. He should pray hard”.

He further added, “Wontumi stepped on someone’s foot, and that person will sit with him to gain his freedom from what he is going through. There is a communication going on behind his back. If he allows God in his life, Ghanaians will come out to see what I said on the Captain Smart show. I am seeing 15, and it will not be more than that”.

“Things like these didn’t happen under my watch” – Nitiwul on El-Wak tragedy

0

Dominic Nitiwul, a former Minister for Defence and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has weighed in on the El-Wak tragedy during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

According to Dominic Nitiwul, God being gracious to him, the El-Wak tragedy didn’t happen when he was the Minister for Defence under the Akufo-Addo government.

Nitiwul is quoted by GHOne to have said, “God being graceful to me, things like these didn’t happen under my watch”.

However, netizens have fired shots at the former Defence Minister following his remark. A netizen stated, “Idiot! This was the guy who decided not to ever do an open recruitment and thus decided to pick only party folks behind the scenes! He’s the reason we are experiencing this!”.

“Which people brought us here in the first place by leaving youth behind without employment for the past 8yrs”, another netizen added.

An X user added, “Akoa y3 kwasia… I hope he’s investigated for the missing ammunition and how an exiled Bawku chief allegedly found his way back into the town, fueling tensions last year”.

Some netizens also dragged Laadi Ayii Ayamba, the Member of Parliament for Pusiga, who has claimed the El-Wak tragedy during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, was beyond human control.

The information gathered suggests the six died as a result of a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

According to reports, thousands of young Ghanaians thronged the El-Wak stadium in a desperate bid to secure enlistment into the Ghana military.

The chaos occurred following the large crowd jostling at the entry points, resulting in a stampede that led to multiple injuries and fatalities.

The information gathered suggests the bodies of the six deceased have been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital morgue.

Several other potential military recruits are receiving emergency treatment at the facility’s casualty ward.

OSP request a transfer of Mustapha Hamid and 10 others’ cases to a different court

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has sought to withdraw and transfer the ongoing extortion case against the former NPA CEO, Dr Mustapha Hamid, and 10 others to a new court.

The prosecutors from the OSP in court told the presiding judge that a new charge sheet was filed on October 17, but was assigned to Criminal Court 4 (CC4).

They further revealed that December 9, 2025, has been confirmed as a return date for the new case filed.

The prosecution stated, “We humbly pray that to ensure a smooth transition, the court should oblige us the same date, December 9, so that we may on that day withdraw from this court and proceed to the other court CC4”.

The accused Lawyer Joseph Kpemka did not oppose the OSP application.

Meanwhile, the presiding judge adjourned the matter to December 9 at 10 a.m.

Furthermore, Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid has sued the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

The former NPA CEO is seeking GH¢20 million in a defamation suit and an unqualified apology, and a retraction over the OSP  linking him to the alleged embezzlement of GH¢1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF).

He is also seeking the court to restrain the OSP and its agents from making further defamatory remarks about him.

Mustapha Hamid, in a writ filed at the High Court on November 10, 2025, is seeking a declaration that the statement made by the OSP during a press briefing on February 12, 2025, was defamatory.

Also, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has filed an application seeking the release of his passport in the GH¢291m NPA case.

Reports reveal that Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the first accused, is requesting the release of his passport to undertake an urgent assignment in Canada.

According to the OSP, it has opposed the application, which is scheduled to be heard by the court on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

In a post on social media, the OSP stated, “The Criminal High Court is scheduled to hear, on 13 November, an application filed by the first accused person, Dr Mustapha Hamid, seeking the release of his passport in the ongoing GH¢291 million case involving allegations of extortion, abuse of office, and money laundering against him and nine (9) others in connection with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

Dr Hamid contends that the release of his passport is necessary to enable him to travel to Canada to attend a political engagement. The Republic, however, has opposed the application. The accused person was ordered by the Court to surrender his passport as part of his bail conditions. He remains on the OSP’s stop list”.

“Completely useless” – Kwesi Pratt blasts Afenyo-Markin over Shakespeare quote

0

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the Managing Editor of Insight Newspaper, has fired shots at the Minority Leader’s Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin over his opening remarks during the vetting of Chief Justice nominee Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

According to Kwesi Pratt, Afenyo-Markin’s use of a Shakespeare quotation during the vetting was a useless talk and completely useless.

Kwesi Pratt asserted that although he studied Shakespeare and still does, he could not understand the relevance of the quote.

He quizzed the minority leader on how many Ghanaians could understand the Shakespearean quotation he used.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Kwesi Pratt said, “I watched the vetting. I studied literature and Shakespeare. So, when the Minority Leader opened his statement with a quotation from Shakespeare, I was sitting there wondering what he was trying to say. I couldn’t make head or tail of it”.

“Look at the population of Ghana, how many of us are completely illiterate, how many have the capacity even to understand Shakespeare? Me, I’ve read Shakespeare, and I didn’t see the relevance. Useless talks, Parliamentary speeches should be understandable to your constituents. Do you believe even 10% of the population understood that quotation?” he asked.

The veteran journalist, however, noted that the quotation may have been intended to showcase the Minority Leader’s brilliance, but did not contribute meaningfully.

Pratt, quoting the line stated, “First, as I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed”

from Macbeth (Act 1, Scene 7), Pratt admitted he himself could not see the connection.

“Even we have to go and read. Why do you punish us like this? We elected you to serve our interests, but now the language you speak is Greek to us,” he added,

The veteran journalist humorously stressed the need for MPs to use language open to the public.

Meanwhile, some netizens reacting to Kwesi Pratt’s comments stated, “DRAMA!!!  Perhaps our lawmakers need training in theatre and, especially, diction!”.

Another explained what the Minority leader wanted to say, “In Shakespeare’s Macbeth (Act 1 Scene 7), Macbeth struggles with the morality of killing a noble king, knowing his ambition will destroy both conscience and order. This mirrors the current moment in the vetting committee(the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo feels like Duncan’s murder: senseless, driven by ambition, and cloaked in legality).

Just as Macbeth’s act poisoned Scotland’s crown, this decision threatens the moral core of Ghana’s judiciary. The speech by Afenyo was a warning that power gained through betrayal only breeds chaos”.

One more X user added, “Big man paaa that admits he studied and still reads Shakespeare books and doesn’t understand this quote for one of Shakespeare’s books. And HE IS LAUGHING. Eiii Massaaa”

“Confused Afenyo Markin is being strategic, just to stay relevant and busy, he resorted to confusing the house with quotes he has no interpretation of, chaff”, a X user adds.

Additionally, a netizen added, “They all understand perfectly, it’s deep and cuts like a sword, and they are all complicit, so they all find ways to make a joke out of it so that the masses will be more confused. Ghana politics”

However, an X user also fired Kwesi Pratt, “Growing up, we all thought Kwesi Pratt was a sensible person, but bcos of biases and his political party (NDC), now he’s useless as a foot soldier, the language u just spoke goes to ur constituency and ask how many understood what u just spoke about? Stop being a hypocrite and foolish”.

“Ghana’s system is designed to intentionally stress out the ordinary citizen” – Saddick Adams

0

Saddick Adams, a veteran sports journalist and broadcaster with Angel TV, has reacted to the tragic deaths of six young Ghanaians at EL-Wak during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.

According to Saddick Adams, Ghana’s system is designed to intentionally stress out the ordinary citizen.

In a post on social media following the tragic incident, Saddick Adams wrote, “The system is designed to intentionally stress the hell out of the ordinary citizen from the day he is conceived to the day of death. Even corpses aren’t spared.

This country’s system will stress you at every phase of your life”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to Saddick Adams’ comments stated, “Facts. But I do believe every system, no matter how compact, has a loophole. You just need to sit back, use your head and figure it out. You’ll suffer for some time, though, but the end result will be worth it. Rushing for quick ones like this will always result in bloodshed. Don’t misconstrue me, I’m not saying you should steal or defraud people.

“And you have leaders who expect change to be expected from protecting these systems with their lives because it’s beneficial to them that way, or because they went through the same. Smh”, another netizen added.

One more X user added, “Life in such a system wears on the soul, but endurance becomes a quiet strength. Even when everything seems against you, surviving and moving forward is a testament to resilience and hope”.

Another netizen added, “Hmmmm, say that again. Deliberately to stress the hell out of us, and at the end, one is not recruited. I remember 2021. The struggle is real for the ordinary”.

Additionally, another X user added, “Meanwhile, to serve in the military of other countries, it’s an honour. No stress like this. There’s already a protocol list there, and those on the list are sleeping at home. Those without connections are left to rot. Posterity!!!”

“Honestly, in this country, it sometimes feels like certain things are done without proper consideration. Based on the information and the scheduled date of the exercise, it’s clear that many people have applied, so a large turnout is expected”, a netizen added.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed six people have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

“It wasn’t me!” – Collins Adomako clears his name from alleged affair with Samuel Aboagye’s wife

0

Collins Adomako-Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, has sought to clear his name from the ongoing hunt to identify the alleged Ashanti Region MP fingered for having an affair with the late Samuel Aboagye, a former Deputy Director of NADMO.

It will be recalled that Samuel Aboagye died in the August 6, 2025, Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash.

In a Facebook post, Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, posted, “It wasn’t me!!!!!! I just love SHAGGY’s songs.”

Many Facebook users have linked his comment to the ongoing controversy to identify the alleged MP, with many pointing fingers at various MPs from the Ashanti Region.

Also, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, the Member of Parliament, has boldly stated, he is not the father of the late Samuel Aboagye’s child.

According to Vincent Assafuah, Ghanaians should stop calling and tagging him.

Vincent Assafuah, in a post on Facebook, stated, “I’m not the father of Samuel Aboagye’s child. Stop calling and tagging me.”

According to reports, the family of Samuel Aboagye is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed six people have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

According to GAF, 28 people were taken to the 37 Military Hospital.

They further revealed that six people have died, with five in the ICU and another 12 in critical condition.

Former NSA boss Osei Assibey’s bail reduced to GHc623m

0

The High Court has reduced Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority’s bail condition from GHc800 million to GHc623 million.

The High Court bail variation, however, maintained all other bail conditions.

This follows Osei Assibey’s lawyers arguing in court that the original bail of GHc800 million was impossible to meet by their client.

According to his lawyers, the initial bail would require providing dozens of high-value properties in Accra and Kumasi, which makes it unrealistic.

Osei Assibey’s lawyers also noted that the main purpose of bail was preventing flight risk, which has been achieved by their client surrendering his passports and also being placed on a stop list.

Dufie Prempeh, representing the Attorney General’s office, opposed the variation, arguing that the original conditions were reasonable.

The court, in its ruling, accepted that a reduced bail of 623 million cedis is more realistic, but maintained all other conditions of his sureties and property pledges.

Meanwhile, the Former Director-General of the National Service Authority is accused of authorising payments to over 60,000 non-existent national service personnel and misappropriating public funds.

The former NSS boss is facing multiple counts under sections “179A(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 1(2)(c) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044)”.

Prosecutors allege that the former NSA boss “willfully caused financial loss of GH¢500,861,744.02 to the Republic by authorising the payment of allowances to over 60,000 “ghost” service personnel between August 2021 and February 2025. Also facing six counts of stealing.

The theft includes, “GH¢3.6 million on August 22, 2023, GH¢516,000 each on September 11, October 26, and November 23, 2023, GH¢1.03 million on December 18, 2023, GH¢2.06 million on May 14, 2024.

He has also been accused of transferring GH¢8.26 into his personal account.

The charge sheet also cites “unauthorised withdrawals from the Kumawu Farm Project account (No. 1018631542212), amounting to GH¢74 million”.

Meanwhile, Blakk Rasta, a Radio and Television personality, has dropped a bombshell about the former  Deputy Executive Director of the NSA, Gifty Oware-Mensah.

According to Blakk Rasta, Gifty Oware-Mensah ran to the Attorney General, kneeling on her feet and begging the AG to have mercy on her and vowed to repay all the stolen money.

Blakk Rasta claimed that the former deputy NSA boss also told the Attorney General she is ready to pay for all she and her husband stole and also ‘sing like a bird’ against his former boss, Osei Assibey Antwi.

The controversial musician and presenter Blakk Rasta shared this on his show The Black Pot.

Speaking on his show, the Black Pot, Blakk Rasta alleged, “Gifty Oware was hot, you know what she did, and this is exclusive, she ran all the way to the Attorney General, knelt on the ground, and begged the Attorney General and said ‘ I am wrong, I am sorry for whatever I did, I don’t want to go to jail, me and my husband, are going to pay for what ever money we have stolen’”.

Blakk Rasta added, “After paying the money, I am ready to tell the whole story about my boss Osei Assibey Antwi, everything he has stolen, everything we did together to steal the Ghaanain people’s money. That was the plea deal”.

0

The High Court today, November 13, 2025, will hear the motion filed by the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) seeking the release of his passport.

Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the first accused, is requesting the release of his passport to undertake an urgent assignment in Canada.

The OSP in an update post on X stated, “The court is also expected to hear a motion filed by Mustapha Hamid seeking the release of his passport, which was seized by the court as part of his bail conditions, to enable him to attend a political event in Canada. The prosecution has opposed the application”.

They further revealed that the criminal High Court will also take the pleas of Mustapha Hamid and nine (9) others in connection with a GH¢291 million NPA scandal.

“The Criminal High Court will today take the pleas of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Mustapha Hamid, and nine (9) others in connection with a GH¢291 million grand extortion and money laundering scheme uncovered at the Authority.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has also frozen assets exceeding GH¢100 million and US$100,000, including real estate holdings, lands, fuel stations, and fuel tankers, among others. Additional assets are still being traced”, the OSP statement added.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed it has amended the charges against former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others.

The accused are alleged to have extorted hundreds of millions of cedis and foreign currency from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies under the guise of official duties, and subsequently laundered the proceeds through property acquisitions and business entities to conceal their illicit origins”.

The accused persons are Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, Kwaku Aboagye Acquaah, Propnest Limited, Kel Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.

“My blood boils when I see headlines like this” – Chadder on EL-Wak tragedy

0

Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, a businessman and political leader, has reacted to the tragic deaths of six young Ghanaians at EL-Wak during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.

According to Chadder, Ghana’s youth are not dying because of misfortune, but are dying because of neglect.

He highlighted that once again, tragedy strikes where there should have been hope for the Ghanaian youths.

Nana Kwame Bediako fumes that his blood boils when he sees headlines like the EL-Wak tragedy.

In a statement posted on X on November 12, 2025, Bediako wrote, “Once again, tragedy strikes where there should have been hope. Six young lives have been lost and dozens more injured following a stampede during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise. These were ambitious youth, desperate for a chance to serve their country and secure a livelihood in a nation that has too often failed to provide either.

My blood boils when I see headlines like this. Year after year, we mourn similar incidents, and yet, nothing changes. The truth is glaring: Ghana’s youth are not dying because of misfortune, they are dying because of neglect”.

He added, “While thousands scramble for a handful of military positions, governments past and present busily sign away our nation’s precious natural resources, such as lithium, for pennies in royalties. How can a nation so rich in minerals, talent, and opportunity continue to act so poorly in foresight and leadership?

Instead of building industries and refining our own resources, we allow others to extract, process, and profit, leaving us with scraps in return. If Ghana were truly committed to industrialising and adding value locally, the youth would not be stampeding at recruitment centres; they would be working in factories, research labs, and technology hubs powered by Ghanaian ingenuity”.

Nana Kwame Bediako further noted that the tragic incident exposes the deeper crisis of governance.

He added, “This tragic incident exposes more than just poor planning. It reveals a deeper crisis of governance. The organisers of this recruitment exercise clearly failed to consider safety protocols or crowd management measures, despite knowing the overwhelming unemployment that plagues our young population. Such disregard for human life is unacceptable and unforgivable”.

According to Cheddar, it’s time Ghana confront the uncomfortable truth that leaders are more focused on scoring political points.

“It is time we confront the uncomfortable truth: our leaders are more focused on scoring political points than on building a sustainable future. True leadership is not about ribbon-cuttings and headlines; it is about foresight, accountability, and a genuine commitment to national development.

The Twelve Pillars I gave represent the clarity, courage, and vision that Ghana desperately needs. It was a blueprint for self-reliance, industrialization, and national dignity. These principles are the gateway to our freedom.

The youth of Ghana deserve more than empty promises and preventable tragedies. They deserve jobs, dignity, and a country that values their lives. Let this not be another story that fades after a few news cycles. Let it be the wake-up call that forces us to rethink how we govern, how we plan, and how we protect our people.

Because no dream of serving one’s nation should ever end in death”, he concluded.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed the passing of six young women during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise at El-Wak.

Mahama described the incident as a heartbreaking loss for the entire nation.

Speaking to the gathering at the launch of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Poultry Initiative in Kumasi on Wednesday, November 12, Mahama stated, “a heartbreaking loss for the entire nation. The tragic news is that I have been informed by the military that six young women, who simply sought an opportunity to serve their nation, lost their lives in this heartbreaking incident. We are praying for the 12 others who remain in critical condition”.

He further extended condolences to the bereaved families and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

Owners of SML exposed in another shady last-minute contract at GACL

0

The Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) owners have been exposed for cooking another shady last-minute contract at the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).

According to a Joy News report, Evatex Logistics Limited, a company affiliated with SML, three days before the 2024 elections, was awarded a contract.

Evatex Logistics Ltd is said to be a mining and sieve-dooring company with no record of having ever performed the services.

Evatex Logistics was contracted by GACL to provide revenue assurance services in regard to cargo at Kotoka International Airport.

A narrator in JOY NEWS probe explained, “Three days to the 2024 election, however. A Shady Revenue Assurance and Auditing Contract, similar to that of the SML Scandal, was cooked at Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL)

This contract, which appeared to be backdated, was awarded to Evatex Logistics Ltd., a mining and sieve-dooring company with no record of having ever performed the services.

Our investigation revealed that this company is linked to SML, an email address on the website of Evatex. Evertel@ghana.com is the same email address on the website of Evans Timbers Ltd., A parent Company of SML”.

It also added, “A search at the Office of Registrar of Companies also revealed that the beneficial owner of SML Evans Adusei is also the beneficial owner of Evatex Logistics, a mining company awarded the contract at the Airport.

In fact, Evans Adusei is both the CEO of SML and the CEO of Evatex.

The list of workers submitted by Evatex to the Ghana Airports Company to execute the contract contains the names of notable SML employees and managers”.

The investigative report revealed SML was used a a post-retirement destination for GRA employees.

“The SML head of engineering, Hamdan Abubakari, is named in the Evatex list. SML head of IT Price Sarpong is also on the list to perform the contract, and former head of Legal at the GRA  Philip Jude Mensa, now an SML employee, witnessed the Evatext contract with Ghana Airports Company is on the Evertech list together with a former Commissioner of Customs and now General Manager of SML, Isaac Crentsil.

SML, which now appears as a post-retirement destination for GRA employees, sneaked to the Airport disguised as Evertex”, it added.

Procurement expert Korina Ata Bedu noted, “Under our labour loss, an employee cannot receive salaries from two companies”.

Also, Benjamin Boakye detailed that SML itself have admitted they were doing things wrong as SML was exposed and they needed Evatex Logistics to bid for another government project.

He noted that if SML were convinced that the work they were doing was generating returns for Ghana, they would not have bid for another contract with the name Evatex.

ACEP Benjamin Boakye added, “You are better off going with a company that is mature or old, but they couldn’t because of the controversies around SML and how exposed the Company was in the public eye.

They themselves admit that they have been doing things wrong, and don’t have even the confidence to work or bid with the same company. If they were really genuinely convinced that the work that they are doing is generating returns, I don’t see why you would want to write on thermo force into another company to bid for another Government project”.

Meanwhile, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the managing director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has ended the scandalous revenue assurance contract with Evatex Logistics.

The report suggests that Evatex Logistics Limited, a company affiliated with SML, has been served with a termination letter on 28th July, 2025.

According to reports, no payments have also been made to date to Evatex Logistics.

“The terms of reference indicated that, upon successful completion of the assignment, GACL would pay Evatex Logistics Ltd out of the recouped amount—a fee equivalent to 15%, which shall be charged on the total of the possible royalties unearthed, concealment uncovered, and recouped by GACL under the audit assignment”.

Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare’s statement read, “Reference is made to the Revenue Assurance Audit agreement (The Agreement) executed between Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and Evatex Logistics Limited on the 4th of December 2024.

Management would wish to bring to your notice (as at the date of this letter), its intention to terminate the Agreement without cause oursuant to the termination clause (a) of the agreement which states as followe: A party may terminate this Agreement before its expiry, without cause, by providing the other party a one month’s prior written notice of ts decision to terminate….”

The GACL MD added, “Hence, effective 27th  of August 2025, the agreement executed on the 4th  of December 2024 shall cease to have effect and shall be considered as terminated by GACL. You are therefore required to use this notice period to demobilise and leave the premises of Kotoka International Airport on or before the 27th  of August 2025.

We thank you for your intention to carry out the revenue assurance audit and wish you well in your future endeavours”.

“I’m not the father of Samuel Aboagye’s child, stop calling and tagging me” — Ekow Assafuah

0

Ekow Vincent Assafuah, the Member of Parliament, has boldly stated, he is not the father of the late Samuel Aboagye’s child.

According to Vincent Assafuah, Ghanaians should stop calling and tagging him.

He is quoted by the State News as having stated, “I’m not the father of Samuel Aboagye’s child. Stop calling and tagging me.”

According to reports, the family of Samuel Aboagye is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

Also, Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the late Samuel Aboagye, a former Deputy Director of NADMO, Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, has revealed that his brother doubted the paternity of his 3-year-old child.

According to Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, his brother had always doubted whether he was the father of his three-year-old child.

“Collective amnesia is real; in 2025, there’s sympathy for Ataa Ayi” – Saddick Adams fumes

0

Saddick Adams, a veteran sports journalist and broadcaster with Angel TV, has fumed at Ghanaians showing sympathy for notorious criminal Ataa Ayi.

The veteran journalist noted that collective amnesia is real and quizzed how, in 2025, some Ghanaians still have sympathy for Ataa Ayi.

According to Saddick Adams, when Ataa Ayi was arrested in 2005, it was almost unanimous that the judge who sits on his case would send him to the firing squad.

He noted that Ataa Ayi’s 70-year jail sentence was valid in law.

In a post on X, SaddicK Adams wrote, “Collective amnesia is real. In 2025, there’s sympathy in some quarters for Ataa Ayi that 70 years seems too harsh for the most notorious armed robber the nation has ever known. Because the judge who pronounced sentence [which was valid in law] claims he was influenced by fear for his own life”.

He added, “In 2005, when he was arrested, it was almost unanimous that the judge who sits on his case should send him to the firing squad”.

His comments following the debate on social media after Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie justified his reasoning behind sentencing notorious armed robber Atta Ayi to 70 years in prison.

According to Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the lengthy sentence for Atta Ayi was to protect his family.

He explained that if he had given Ataa Ayi 30 years, when he came back, his family would be the first the notorious armed robber would have attacked.

Speaking during his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, November 10, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie explained, “I gave him 70 years. And what I told myself was that if Ataa Ayi was given 30 years and he comes back, my family would be the first he would attack. By the time he comes back after 70 years, I will be dead and gone,” he said.

Ataa Ayi was labelled as Ghana’s most notorious criminal at the time, with a bounty placed on him.

He masterminded numerous armed robberies, stealing money, cars, jewellery, and other valuables and also shot victims.

The Police, led by  ACP Kofi Boakye, managed to arrest some members of his gang after fierce gun battles that left others dead.

Ataa Ayi was later convicted on multiple counts and jailed in 2005.

According to reports, Atta Ayi has now been described as a changed man.

“If you want to go to the World Cup, find your own resources” – Sports Minister tells Blacks stars fans

0

Sports Minister Kofi Adams has stated that the government would not support using government funds to send supporters to the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has promised Ghanaians football fans he will guarantee Ghana is given an appreciable visa quota for football fans to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reacting to Ghana’s qualification, Ablakwa, in a post on X, congratulated the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

“If possible, I will get Shatta Wale to join NPP” – John Boadu

John Boadu, the former NPP General Secretary and now National Chairman hopeful, has said that if possible, he will get Ghanaian dancehall king Shatta Wale to join the party.

According to John Boadu, the NPP’s future will depend on how they connect with the youth.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, John Boadu stated, “I know how to deal with these young guys, selling our messages, and making our message not too hard, as soft as they want, we’ll be able to get to them,” he said.

“By the year 2028, ages between 18 to around 36 to 40 will be about 60% of the voters. The solution is to get into their arena and deal with them”.

When asked if he is going to get Shatta Wale to join the NPP, John Boadu responded,  “If possible, why not, and campaign for you? Not necessarily a hard campaign, but passing through this high content”.

However, he was reminded that the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections engaged King Paluta, yet suffered a humiliating defeat.

He noted, “You need to do more of that by nurturing these youthful people. I am saying it is not even necessary to have them at your rallies”

“You need to meet them where they are. You need to be able to tap them with their interest and not necessarily bring them on your political platforms, and it is important that we look at that.”

He further argued that the NDC is now having a growing influence of young academics.

John Boadu added, “You can now see that academia, for instance, looks like the NDC is having a lot of them as we speak now. Many of these people don’t need so much”.

“It’s not about an appointment. Many of them just need recognition. Many of them need that touch, that belonging touch of the party to be able to get because many of them want to be seen as the ones who are even reviewing your programs, reviewing your policies”, John Boadu noted.

He further praised Shatta Wale for his massive influence among Ghanaian youth citing, “The crowd Shatta Wale pulled for his birthday concert, no political party can achieve that”.

His remarks follow the ShattaFest 2025, a night to celebrate Ghanaian Dancehall icon Shatta Wale as he marked his 41st birthday on October 18, 2025.

Fans from various parts of Ghana crowded the Independence Square in Accra on October 18, 2025, to spend the night with the artiste as he and various other Ghanaian musicians treated the audience to hit songs.

A star-studded lineup, including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, and DopeNation, among several others, featured during the ShattaFest.
