“There’s corruption at the OSP” – Martin Kpebu, TV3, invited by OSP to assist with probe

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an Investigative journalist, has announced that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner and Media General’s TV3 for investigation.

According to Manasseh Azure, the invitation comes after comments made by Martin Kpebu alleging that there is corruption brewing at the OSP.

In a post on X, the investigative journalist stated, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited   Martin Kpebu & TV3 to assist investigation over allegations made by Martin Kpebu that there’s corruption at the OSP.

Martin Kpebu also said on TV3 that the OSP deliberately looked away for Ken Ofori-Atta to leave”.

The revelation comes after Martin Kpebu made a shocking revelation about the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

He alleged that there is a lot of corruption going on at the OSP under the watch of Kissi Agyebeng, labelling the office a “crime scene”.

According to Martin Kpebu, if a poll is conducted at the OSP, there will be countless allegations against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

Speaking in an Interview on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 8, 2025, Martin Kpebu alleged, “There are a lot of corruption cases that are brewing in the OSP itself. The Office of the Special Prosecutor has become a crime scene. And I’m telling you this on authority. Let’s go conduct a poll in the OSP office today; you will see the myriad of allegations against Kissi.

“I want to say they are going to answer this question: are there two employees of the OSP who are currently working as house helps in his home? Are there two members of staff who are currently working as house helps?

Meanwhile, they are on the OSP payroll. Kissi Agyebeng should tell the people of Ghana who is Kwabena Boateng Adu, popularly called Baron?” he quizzed.

Also, Lawyer Kpebu accused Kissi Agyebeng of being clueless about Ghana’s constitution despite being a first-class graduate of law.

He alleged that Kissi Agyebeng shockingly colluded with former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to leave Ghana.

Lawyer Kpebu highlighted that Kissi Agyebeng’s recent interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), where he revealed he was powerless to stop Ofori Atta, makes him complicit in the former minister’s leaving Ghana.

Speaking in an Interview on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 8, 2025, Martin Kpebu stated, “I told you that I suspected collusion between Kissi Agyebeng and Ken Ofori-Atta. There you have it; he has forced Kissi Agyebeng to come and confess. You heard the statement. He said he watched Ken Ofori-Atta leave. He watched him leave. He was powerless to prevent it.

“He went to the Immigration Service but didn’t get help. He went to NIB but didn’t get help. When the obvious answer, and the best, was around — that is, tell the sovereign, the owner of the country, the ultimate decider of things in this republic, that is the people of Ghana,” he added.

Lawyer Kpebu noted, “Let’s not forget, first-class graduate — first-class graduate of law — and Kissi doesn’t understand the Constitution that the ultimate decider of major decisions in Ghana is the public. Inform the people. That is the preamble to the Constitution. Sovereignty resides in the people of Ghana — Article 1(1).”

Meanwhile, Lawyer Kpebu, in an earlier interview, threatened to initiate the removal of the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng if he fails to immediately freeze assets related to the terminated SML contract.

OSP formally ‘slaps’ Ken Ofori-Atta, 7 others with 78 counts

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has formally charged former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and 7 others over the SML Scandal.

According to the OSP, they have formally charged Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and 7 others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences.

In a short statement on X on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the OSP stated, “ The OSP this morning formally charged former Minister for Finance, Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and 7 others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences”.

The news comes after the OSP had earlier announced that it would press charges against several individuals implicated in the controversial SML revenue assurance contracts.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, he will press charges against the individual implicated in the controversial revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) by the end of November 2025.

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, are expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

The OSP decision comes after months of investigations uncovering alleged acts of corruption, abuse of office, and breaches of procurement laws in the award and execution of the SML-GRA contracts.

Kissi Agyebeng detailed that the evidence gathered points to criminal conduct on the part of some officials.

The OSP is expected to formally announce the specific charges and commence legal proceedings in the coming days.

Kissi Agyebeng also declared the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited) as needless.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, the OSP comprehensive investigation concluded there was “no genuine need” for the contract.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 30, revealed,  “There was no genuine need for contracting SML for the obligations it’s purported to perform”.

He stressed were “secured for SML through self-serving official patronage, sponsorship [and] promotion based on false and unverified claims.”

The OSP’s investigation painted a picture of non-compliance with Ghana’s public financial laws, revealing that the SML contracts were attended by egregious statutory breaches, adding that“mandatory prior approvals were wantonly disregarded by relevant officials who acted with increased and emboldened impunity.”

Meanwhile, Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has dragged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to the Accra High Court.

According to the claim filed at the High Court in Accra, SML is demanding the return of seized equipment and more than $28 million in damages.

SML is accusing the Office of the Special Prosecutor of an unlawful raid on its offices.

In a statement of claim filed, SML recounted that the OSP on June 10, 2025, raided their officers under a purported warrant.

They revealed the OSP seized several items, including servers, laptops, storage devices, and specialised mineral analysis equipment from the search on their premises.

According to the SML, the seized equipment formed the backbone of Ghana’s petroleum and solid minerals monitoring systems.

They argued that the seizure caused a nationwide collapse of its secure data communication network linking 25 petroleum depots.

SML also accused the OSP of breaching forensic and evidence-handling standards, accusing them of uprooting physical hardware instead of conducting a forensic imaging process.

Zenator Rawlings tipped for the Defence Minister position – Reports

0

The information circulating on social media alleged that Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, is emerging as a top contender for the Defence Minister position.

According to reports, Zenator Agyemang-Rawlings is emerging as a strong favourite for the next Defence Minister, with many within the ruling National Democratic Congress and civil society pushing her nomination.

It has been alleged that her supporters argue that she brings integrity, discipline and a fresh strategic outlook, while insiders say discussions are intensifying ahead of an expected ministerial reshuffle.

It will be recalled that Dr Omane Boamah and seven others lost their lives in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

In the aftermath, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson was appointed to act as caretaker for the Defence Ministry.

Furthermore, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister in Charge of Government Communications, has said President John Dramani Mahama will soon announce a Defence Minister as he fully understands his responsibilities.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu highlighted that Mahama’s administration is committed to filling the leadership gap.

Speaking on Newsfeed on Channel One TV on Monday, October 27, Kwakye Ofosu stated, “President Mahama fully understands his responsibilities and whereas he had a close relationship with the late Minister Omane Boamah, the president is pragmatic and professional enough to understand that life has gone on.

“Whatever needs to be done will be done to ensure that the Defence Ministry has the best of leadership and the policies that they implement contribute to the overall development of our country and ensure our safety and security. In due course, that announcement will be made.”

However, Dominic Nitiwul, a former Minister for Defence and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has warned President John Mahama to urgently appoint a substantive Minister for Defence.

According to him, the delay in making a substantive appointment can affect the effective functioning of the ministry.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Friday, October 24, Nitiwul expressed, “The deputy cannot act as the defence minister. It is the reason the president asked the finance minister to act as the interim defence minister. We all know that the finance minister doesn’t have time. I think that it is time for the president to look for and nominate somebody to take over”.

“In the West Africa region, terrorism is becoming endemic. We are enjoying peace, but we are always threatened by insecurities around us, and I think we need somebody who will offer leadership,” Nitiwul stressed.

“That long delay is not helpful,” he cautioned.

Also, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency, has said no serious country will run for 3 months without appointing a fully functional substantive Defence minister to oversee the formulation and implementation of defence policies.

In a post on his X page, the MP underscored the urgent need for a substantive minister to be appointed to fill the vacant position since the tragic passing of Dr Omane Boamah.

“Nearly 3 months without a substantive Defence Minister is a dangerous gamble and reckless potential compromise of our territorial integrity. What a dangerous inaction! At a time when the security of our country is on the path of rapid deterioration – Gbenyiri, Sampa, Bawku, Galamsey etc, with over 23,000 citizens having fled to neighbouring countries as refugees” he posted

He added, “No serious country will run 3 months without a substantive Defence Minister. Is there no suitable person in NDC who can be trusted by President Mahama to fill the worthy shoes of my departed honourable friend, Dr Omane Boamah? What difficulty might the President be facing for which he has been hesitant in appointing a suitable replacement for the late Minister? We demand the immediate appointment of a substantive Minister for Defence to lead the spirited collective action to retool the Ghana Armed Forces and sustain the territorial integrity of our beloved country”.

Former BOST MD Edwin Provencal appears in court following his arrest at KIA

0

Dr Edwin Provencal, the former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), has appeared before the court following his arrest at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The former MD of BOST was spotted in a viral video being escorted by an EOCO official as they walked into the courthouse.

Some supporters of Edwin Provencal were also spotted showing support for the embattled former MD.

Edwin Provencal was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on November 10, 2025, after allegedly attempting to travel abroad despite being on a stop list.

Edwin Provencal is currently in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for further investigations.

The former BOST CEO was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) while attempting to board a flight out of the country.

Mr Provencal is on EOCO a stop list as part of ongoing investigations into activities that occurred during his tenure as the CEO of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST).

Edwin Provencal was apprehended on Monday, November 10.

Reports suggest he was arrested in an attempt to flee while en route to Maputo, Mozambique, without securing the necessary authorisation.

Edwin Provencal’s arrest comes amid an intensified inquiry into BOST’s operations, with the government emphasising accountability and transparency in state-owned enterprises.

As CEO of BOST Provencal oversaw key aspects of Ghana’s fuel supply and storage infrastructure.

EOCO sources further suggested that officials intercepted him to ensure that the ongoing probe was not compromised.

However, EOCO did not provide additional details on the nature of the investigation.

In related news, the Minister for government communications has disclosed that More than 80 former government officials under the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government have been brought in for questioning over various corruption cases.

Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana TV program, the minister asserted that about 280 cases of corruption involving more than 80 past government officials are being investigated.

“So you may not know. But I can tell you, over 80 different people have been interviewed. Some of them have been given bail quietly. Some of them have people standing surety for them. 80? 80. And more. And this is something that continues to happen. And let me tell you, all the 280 cases that Oram presented have been looked into. All of them, bar none.

So that has been done. There are some done naturally because of the actors involved and their own attempts to seek support from their base. It gets to the front burner. Because when they are invited or arrested, they mobilise people to come and make noise, to demand their release. So that one naturally is covered by the media. And then sometimes even the media gets wind of it, and so you blow it up.” he said

“That is standard practice. It is not everything that comes before the Attorney General or prosecutorial bodies that they take to court. In fact, there may yet be instances where there is evidence of wrongdoing. But perhaps the weight of the evidence may be insufficient. Because in criminal cases, you have to meet a certain height ratio that it must be beyond a reasonable doubt. So there are instances where you see that yes, there are questions to be answered. The questions have not been satisfactorily answered. But if you take it to court, you may not get the evidence that is required to secure a conviction. So you leave it at that until a time when you get additional evidence,” he added.

“But in many instances, there is hardcore, irrefutable evidence. But this Attorney General is a well-trained, well-heeled, experienced legal practitioner. He himself has represented many people in criminal cases. So he is fully aware of the threshold that must be met and the nuances that go into securing a conviction. So because of that, he is doing a thorough job. He is going through the files, the dockets, with a fine comb.”

“I envision a judicial system where justice is neither delayed nor denied” – CJ Baffoe-Bonnie

0

Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has revealed his plans for Ghana’s justice system.

According to Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, he envisions a judicial system where justice is neither delayed nor denied.

Speaking at his swearing-in as Chief Justice on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Jubilee House in Accra, Baffoe-Bonnie stated, “I give my solemn word that I will uphold the rule of law, respect the separation of powers, and protect the Constitution”.

“I will respect the independence of every judge and ensure that the judiciary remains free from improper influence. I will also insist on accountability because independence without responsibility risks entitlement and erosion of public trust.

Our judiciary must be independent, impartial, and accessible. It must not serve the powerful or the connected at the expense of the weak and vulnerable. It must resist any incursions on its freedoms but also embrace accountability, transparency, and continuous reform,” he said.

He added, “Every litigant who enters a courtroom brings not only a case but also hope that justice will be done. I accept the responsibility of preserving that hope,”

“The future of the bar is the future of the bench. Working with the General Legal Council, the Ghana School of Law, and law faculties, we shall pursue a model that ensures opportunity without compromising quality”.

“My vision for the judiciary is that of a service-oriented institution, with courts that are efficient, transparent, and respectful of all persons; judges and staff who uphold high ethical standards, treat litigants with dignity, and apply the law without fear or favour. A judiciary that works not for political ends but for the cause of justice,” he noted.

President Mahama, on Monday, November 17, 2025, officially swore in Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Chief Justice of Ghana.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie fully assumed the responsibility as Chief Justice, tasked with leading Ghana’s judiciary and preserving the integrity of the judicial system.

Mahama, during the swearing-in ceremony, reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the independence of Ghana’s judiciary.

He stated, “The strength of our democracy depends on the delicate yet essential balance of powers among the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary. Today as President, I pledge my unwavering commitment to the independence of the judiciary”.

Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the most senior Supreme Court judge, was appointed by President Mahama to act as Chief Justice during the investigation process of sacked CJ Torkornoo.

He is now confirmed as the substantive head of the judiciary after he was nominated by John Mahama.

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie was appointed to the Supreme Court in June 2008 by then-President John Agyekum Kufuor and is among the most senior justices of the apex court.

His appointment follows President John Mahama sacking the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect after he received a first report from the five-member committee he constituted to investigate three petitions brought against the Chief Justice.

“Whatever you are doing, continue, so that the cedi is respected” – Mahama to BoG, Ato Forson

0

President John Dramani Mahama has told managers of Ghana’s currency to continue whatever they are doing, as the cedi regains respect both locally and internationally.

According to John Mahama, Ghanaians are grateful to the Bank of Ghana and the Finance Ministry for their management of the cedi.

Mahama made this known at the Cedi@60 commemoration by the Bank of Ghana in Accra, themed “Sovereignty, Stability, and Economic Resilience”.

Speaking at the event, John Mahama stated, “I just want to say that the governor and all your team at the BoG, the Ministry of Finance, Ghanaians are grateful to you for the management of our currency”.

“I think that a lot of respect has returned to our currency. And it’s my hope that you will keep whatever you are doing to make sure that we don’t have excess liquidity, all those words you people have; open market operations, whatever, those your technical jargons are,” President Mahama noted.

He further urged the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry to continue their work in stabilising the cedi, “Whatever you are doing, continue doing so, so that the cedi is respected,” he said.

Mahama further detailed that the cedi is anchored on monetary policy, shaped expectations and absorbed domestic, regional, and global shocks.

He added, “Not nearly as a unit of account or a medium of exchange, but as a declaration of independence, our identity, and the capacity of our state,”

“The world is witnessing the emergence of a hybrid monetary ecosystem…Trust in institutions has become as crucial as technical capacity”

Furthermore, Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has said protecting the Cedi is a shared duty.

Dr Johnson Asiama at the Currency Anniversary added, “It is my hope that every Ghanaian—from the child learning to count, to the trader serving her community, to the entrepreneur building something new—can continue to hold the Cedi with unwavering confidence and pride.”

“May we always remember that protecting the Cedi is not the task of any one institution. It is a shared endeavour—an endeavour rooted in our belief in Ghana’s future”, he added.

He further called for a forward-looking approach to strengthen public trust in the Cedi.

The BoG boss added, “Young Ghanaians are growing up in a world where value is moved instantly, where digital interaction is second nature, and where expectations of transparency and accountability continue to rise”.

“Part of our responsibility as policymakers, technicians, and leaders is to ensure that the Cedi—however it is accessed—continues to serve these aspirations,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Cedi@60 celebration marks six decades since Ghana introduced its national currency.

The cedi replaced the Ghanaian Pound in 1965, a historic milestone representing Ghana’s enduring pursuit of economic sovereignty and stability.

“Your ticket is not a visa” – US Secretary warns football fans ahead 2026 World Cup

0

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reminded football fans ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament in the U.S that their match-day ticket are not visas.

According to Marco Rubio, match day tickets do not guarantee football fans admission into the U.S.

He revealed that the US will prioritise visa interviews for ticket-holding fans.

Rubio noted that fans who secure priority status could get an interview date within six to eight weeks, instead of waiting many months.

The last two World Cups in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022) saw a match ticket automatically generate a Fan ID used like a visa; the US, however, will not adopt the same system.

Speaking at the White House on Monday, Marco Rubio stated, “Your ticket is not a visa; it doesn’t guarantee admission to the US,” Rubio said. “We’re going to do the same vetting as anybody else would get. The only difference here is we’re moving them up in the queue.”

He made this known during the announcement of the new FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System (PASS).

President Donald Trump, during the event, stated, “FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System (PASS) will allow World Cup ticket-holders with long wait times to opt with FIFA for a prioritised interview”.

Also, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who joined Trump and Rubio during the announcement, stated, “With this FIFA Pass, we can make sure that those who buy a ticket, who are legitimate football fans or soccer fans, they can come and attend the World Cup in the best conditions, starting from getting their visa”.

Gianni Infantino revealed he estimates about 10 million visitors could travel to the US for the global event.

In related news,  Sports Minister Kofi Adams had earlier stated that the government would not support using government funds to send supporters to the World Cup.

The Sports Minister confirmed that the Government of Ghana will not allocate funds to transport supporters to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to Kofi Adams, if supporters want to go to the World Cup, they have to find their own resources, and the government could help facilitate their travel documents.

Kofi Adams cited the country’s economic challenges and the need to prioritise investment in local sports infrastructure.

He argued that while government funding is off the table, the Sport Minister encouraged individuals and corporate organisations to assist fans with travel arrangements.

Speaking on Peace FM Kokrokoo, Kofi Adams stated, “So far government has not given that indication that supporters will be taken to the World Cup. Well, I don’t think that it is something I will recommend”.

“We need money to build a Sports facility in Ghana, then we are going to spend money to transport supporters all the way to America in where that money could have been used to build multipurpose stadiums in some of the communities”.

He added, “If you want to go, find your own resources, and we can facilitate your travel documents, then you go, or we should mobilise from the cooperate, both private and public and give support to the fans”.

Also, the Government of Ghana, in the 2026 budget, has allocated GH₵150 million to the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson stated, “The government’s sustained investment in sports yielded impressive results, with the Black Stars qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup”.

“An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated for the Black Stars to participate in the World Cup,” he added.

“You are a wizard for not supporting Ken Agyapong” – NPP delegate tells Ntim Fordjour

0

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegate has descended on the member of parliament for Assin South, Rev Ntim Fordjour, over his non-support for flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

According to the NPP delegate, Rev Ntim Fordjour must be a wizard or a jealous person not to support Kennedy Agyapong whom he shares the same Christian faith and constituency border.

Speaking in a viral video, the NPP delegate stated, “The Assin South, I usually do not want to comment about him, that man does not understand God, or he is wicked or jealous person, where honourable has got to he must be jealous of him.

That tie he has been wearing around his neck, he has to take it off because he is not a Christian. I don’t see him as a Christian; in everything, there is politics in it. Ghana is a Christian country. If you say you are a man of God and your fellow Christian and one in whom you share constituency borders is contesting you are against him are you not a wizard?

“I am talking about Ntim Fordjour. I don’t see him as a Christian or a pastor. As Christians, we must be united, and Ghana is a Christian country; moreover, you are a pastor in Assin South, and your own brother, who is a Christian, is contesting you are rather than supporting a muslim, if it is not wizardry, it is jealousy”, the NPP delegate boldly added.

Meanwhile, Rev John Ntim Fordjour has said God has anointed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the promised land in 2028.

According to Rev Ntim Fordjour, God can take anyone and anoint them, be it a Christian or a Muslim.

He claimed that God’s anointing is on Dr Bawumia to lead Ghana into prosperity.

Speaking at Mankessim during Dr Bawumia’s Central Region tour on Tuesday, September 30, Rev Fordjour stated, “I’m a Christian, I’m a pastor, and the Bible I read tells me that God is no respecter of persons. God can take anyone and anoint them, and it doesn’t matter whether the person is a Christian or a Muslim. He can use them to rule over His country and make His people prosper.

“The person I have seen such an anointing on is Dr Bawumia. The one God has anointed to lead us to the promised land in 2028 is Dr Bawumia,” he declared.

Rev Ntim further highlighted that no NDC presidential candidate can be compared to Dr Bawumia.

“My brothers and sisters, my elders, I beg of you – just take a look at all the leaders in the NPP, and also at those who have announced their intention to lead the NDC, and compare. Tell me, who among them, if we put them up against Dr Bawumia, can stand him? Who? There’s nobody”.

“If we change Dr Bawumia, we will miss the penalty”, Rev Ntim Fordjour added.

Watch Bawumia kick off his campaign in Awutu Senya East with spirit-filled worship

0

A video has surfaced of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, kicking off his campaign in Awutu Senya East with spirit-filled worship with NPP delegates.

Dr Bawumia, in the viral video, was shown on the pulpit of a church as he led the NPP delegates during the gospel worship.

Some NPP delegates were also captured, mostly women dancing around Bawumia on the pulpit with others in the crowd.

In related news, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made a bold pledge to New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates that if elected president of Ghana, he will turn the country into abroad “Abrokyire”.

According to Dr Bawumia, he has the track record and ideas needed to transform Ghana.

Speaking to some NPP delegates, the NPP flagbearer hopeful detailed some of his major achievements as Vice President.

Dr Bawumia cited the Ghana Card system when he worked closely with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to ensure the mass issuance of the card.

He also pointed out the mobile money transfers, arguing that they could not be made across networks and could not be linked to bank accounts.

Dr Bawumia stated, “We issued the Ghana Card, and today Ghana is one of the few countries in the world with this type of digital national ID”.

“When we came, the MoMo agents were 107,000. Now they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs for MoMo agents,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians to judge him by the results he has delivered as Vice President.

“You have seen what I can do as Vice President without the power. If you make me president with the power, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ to Ghana here,” he declared.

Also, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are afraid of him ahead of the 2028 elections.

According to Dr Bawumia, the NDC knows that when he wins the NPP’s flagbearership race, he will win the 2028 elections.

He further claimed the NDC are campaigning for some of his opponents due to their fear of him winning the 2028 elections.

Dr Bawumia is quoted by EDHUB to have stated, “The NDC doesn’t want me to win the NPP flagbearership; that’s why they’re campaigning for some of my opponents. They know that if I win the flagbearership race, I will win the 2028 elections”.

“16 still on admission, 3 out of ICU” – GAF on El-Wak stampede victims

0

Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director-General of the Department of Public Relations of the GAF, has provided an update on the victims of last Wednesday’s stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.

According to Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, three out of the five patients initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)  have been moved to another ward.

Speaking in an Interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, November 17, Captain Arhin explained, “The injured are doing well, they are at the hospital, and they are receiving the best of care. On the day of the incident, we had five people in the ICU. As we speak, three of them are doing well and they have been moved to another ward”.

“On the day of the incident, 29 people were brought to the hospital. As we speak now, we have about 16 currently there. Others are all receiving care, some have been discharged, and they have gone home, and they are getting the best of care. We are praying that we do not lose another life, so we are giving them all the best that we can,” she added.

NAIMOS storms Obuasi, disrupting galamsey activities

0

The National Anti-illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) on Monday, November 17, 2025, stormed a galamsey site in Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region.

NAIMOS, acting on intelligence, raided galamsey sites at Anyankyirem, a mining concession belonging to Ashanti Gold Corporation

Illegal miners from Amansie took over the Ashanti Gold Corporation’s legally acquired mining concession, forcing the company to abandon the site.

The operation also led to NAIMOS securing certain strategic areas around the Obuasi Airport.

During the raids, makeshift structures and other tools used for illegal mining were also destroyed, and several mining equipment, including motorbikes, vehicles and water pumps, were seized.

Several galamseyers, following the raid, bolted, but one suspect was arrested and is in custody, assisting with investigations and possible prosecution.

In related news, Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West and Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the GH₵150 million allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

According to Peter Lanchene Toobu, the GH₵150 million for the NAIMOS in the fight against illegal mining is too small.

The lawmaker further asserted that Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, will do something about the allocation to NAIMOS in the 2026 mid-year budget.

The NDC MP is quoted by TV3 as having said, “GH₵150 million for NAIMOS is too small and I’m quite sure the Minister of Finance will do something about it in the mid-year budget”.

His remarks come after Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, has revealed that an amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in the 2026 fiscal year to fight galamsey.

According to Dr Forson, the allocation demonstrates the Mahama government’s continued commitment to protecting Ghana’s natural environment.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Ato Forson stated, “An amount of GH¢150 million has been allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) for their activities against illegal mining and forest degradation”.

He added that the GH¢150m allocated will support ongoing enforcement, intelligence, and monitoring operations led by NAIMOS in the fight against illegal mining.

It will be recalled, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, some months ago revealed the staggering potential financial scope of the anti-galamsey effort.

According to the Lands Minister, a comprehensive fight against illegal mining could cost the nation an estimated $10 billion.

The Lands minister is quoted by 3 news to have said, “The fight against galmsey could cost $10 billion”.

NAIMOS was established to coordinate national efforts against illegal mining by integrating the work of security agencies, regulatory bodies, and local authorities.

Nana Adwoa Gyemfua was abducted following a raid at the Palace of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council at Abene.

Democracy Hub files defamation suit against Nana Kwame Bediako

0

Democracy Hub and its partners have filed a defamation suit against the leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar).

The Democracy Hub and its members, including lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor, have sued Nana Kwame Bediako over his comments suggesting the September 2024#SayNoGalamsey protest was funded by a major political party.

Nana Kwame Bediako, in a video shared on his social media on September 25, 2024, alleged that the #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse and the  #FixTheCountry protest are all machinations of a political party.

Cheddar in the video stated, “Well, let me tell you something: all of these protests and demonstrations that have been organised in this country in the past year or two are organised by one of the duopolies. It is the same politician, and I said it.

I am not going to mention names, but you know that Julorbi and Fix The Country were fixed by one of the existing parties. We cannot do this to ourselves and destroy this country because of a politician’s personal interest or a party’s interest”.

He further added, “Please, Ghana, do your research. The people in front of all these demonstrations, some of them have treason charges.

Ask, find out who is sponsoring them for the mobilisation and all the things that happened. This is not about galamsey; this is about political interest”, he stated.

In their suit filed, the Democracy Hub is requesting the court declare that the allegation by Cheddar is defamatory and also urging the court to order him to apologise and retract his remarks, also to pay damages for ruining their reputation.

Parts of the court document filed at the High Court in Accra read, “The Plaintiffs’ claim is for:

A. A declaration that the statements published and caused to be published by the Defendant on or about 25–26 September 2024 are false, malicious, and defamatory of the Plaintiffs.

B. A declaration that the Defendant’s publications, whether by video, written text, or oral repetition to third parties, have unlawfully injured the reputation, integrity, and public standing of each of the Plaintiffs.

C. An order directing the Defendant to publish a full, clear, and unequivocal retraction and apology, in terms to be approved by the Plaintiffs or this Honourable Court:

a. on the Defendant’s X account;

b. in the same form, prominence, and duration as the impugned videos; and

c. in any additional media outlets as this Honourable Court may deem fit.

D. General damages for defamation, for each Plaintiff, for the injury to reputation, distress, humiliation, loss of public confidence, and the continuing harm caused by the Defendant’s publications”.

Some netizens reacting to the Democracy Hub suit stated, “Now that the fight against galamsey is effective.. You want to suit him, since last year and this year, all you didn’t think of any defamation cos the sponsorship party was failing the fight. Ah, wait oo the same demonstration boys chop money that was supposed to be shared among the participants, you guys are not serious”.

“Senselessly Senseless. Has galamsey ended? Why not still do the demonstration? You menes figa we be small boys. That was factually true. This no go go anywhere masa”, one more X user added.

An X user also added, “Mmmboaaa, Now your party is in power, so you don’t see the need for demonstration against. Has galamsey stopped?”

One more X user added, “Funny. Cheddar is not too far from wrong. In opposition, Oliver’s lawyer was Srem Sai, now he’s deputy AG, so one can presume that what Cheddar is saying is true cos Srem supported Oliver with resources and time. He defended Oliver anytime at a point, Ray Atuguba defended Oliver”.

“Interesting times ahead. I like how people have been testing Ghana’s justice system lately. Mr Bediako can afford some of the best attorneys in the country to face some of the best young attorneys. Let’s see how this plays out in court”, another Ghanaian added.

0

Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for Wa West and Vice Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the GH₵150 million allocated to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The NDC MP is quoted by TV3 as having said, “GH¢150 million for NAIMOS, that is just in the budget. And I’m quite sure that it is too small. Looking at the volume of what they have to do, and their mandate, I’m sure in the media budget review, the Minister of Finance will do something about it”.

“Raise the strength to 1,000, give them full retooling, provide enough resources, and define a clear mandate with timelines. Soldiers can be trained for war and never see battle, but the galamsey menace is destroying our country. If we want the armed forces to succeed in enforcement, we must give them the tools, resources, and a defined timeline,” he stated.

“MMDCEs’ salaries increased from GHS5,000 to GHS35,000” – Adom TV’s Omanhene

0

Omanhene Kwabena Asante, host of Adom TV’s Badwam, has alleged that the salaries of MMDCEs have been increased by the John Mahama-led government.

According to Omanhene, the salaries of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have been increased from GHS5,000 to GHS35,000.

Speaking on Adom TV Dwaso Nsem, Omanhene stated, “Abena listened, in the past when you were an MMDCE, you were taking 5000 today as MMDCE, do you know how much they are taking? They are taking GHS35,000. Just recently, they were taking 5000 cedis today, 35,000 cedis”.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “GHC 5,000 monthly, which may have compromised their efforts to combat illegal mining over the past eight years, as they may have had close ties with miners, resulting in the destruction of our water bodies. Now, with the new monthly stipend of GHC 35,000, that’s a good motivation”.

“The President does not fix the salaries of MMDCEs. They are classified under Article 71 office holders, and the current MMDCEs are earning the same salaries as those who came before them. Any claim to the contrary is false and misleading”, another netizen added.

“Why MMCE’/DCE’s dey chop salary pass MP’s ? Cutting off government expenditure mpo nie? Eii Akua Ghana”, another X user added.

“Masa no MMDC/DCE will take 5000. Even the current assembly members’ allowance pass it

That amount is for our public servants; Teachers are Nurses. When can a teacher or Nurse buy a car or build a house from his/her salary? The system is designed to impoverish the ordinary workers”, another netizen added.

“This guy ankasa, he get agenda… Omanhene or whatever. He that is propagating the agenda, will GHC5000 a month be enough for him to take care of his family??”, another X user added.

Meanwhile, some former MMDCEs whose appointments were revoked in January 2025 have appealed to the government to expedite the payment of their outstanding salary arrears and End-of-Service Benefits (ESB).

“We understand that administrative processes take time, but many of us are going through serious challenges. Some cannot afford their medical bills, and others are struggling to take care of their families. We only appeal that the payments are made soon,” one of them said.

“We have lost some of our colleagues who could not survive the stress and health complications brought on by financial hardship. Several others are bedridden and relying on family and friends for support,” another former MMDCE said with emotion.

“We have served diligently in various parts of the country. All we ask is that the government fast-tracks the process to ease the burden on us and our dependents. We know the President is compassionate and will act,” one of them expressed hopefully.

“Go and read my record, I never raised my voice on the floor” – Speaker Bagbin to Afenyo-Markin

0

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has recounted his time as Minority Leader and challenging claims that he behaved the same way as the current Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin.

According to Speaker Bagbin, the actions taken by Afenyo-Markin were not influenced by him, as he did not engage in the same behaviour that the Minority Leader is currently displaying.

He asserted that Afenyo-Markin claims he took inspiration from him, but he never raised his voice, arguing that his records are there for people to read.

He, however, admitted that he lost his composure on only one occasion when Speaker Peter Ala Adjetey made a personal attack against him.

Speaking in a video shared on X, Alban Bagbin stated, “What the Minority Leader is doing now is not what I did. He has referred to you people several times, saying he took inspiration from my record. Please go and read my record. I never raised my voice or tried to show grandeur on the floor. No!” he said in a video shared by TV3 on Monday, November 17, 2025.

“I studied the ecology, the political environment. I tested the pulse of the people, and you act in line with that. I didn’t do what you are doing. Anybody can go and read. Only on one occasion, when the Rt. Hon. Speaker Peter Adjetey came and read a statement attacking me personally, did I rise to give my side of the story, and he refused to allow me.

“My very good friend Papa Ankoma, who was the Majority Leader then, stood up and said that once he had mentioned me specifically, the standing orders gave me the right of reply. But the Speaker shouted at him, ordered him to sit down, and prevented me from responding,” he recounted.

“That day, I took my books and headed to my office. My colleagues did not follow me; they continued with their political business. It was in my office that a few cameras, led by GTV, came to ask why I had left. I explained that if this was how the Speaker intended to conduct the House, I would respond in kind. That caught the attention of the whole nation,” he said.

He concluded that Afenyo-Markin’s claims of equating his conduct with that of the current Minority Leader are unfounded.

“That is the only instance. Later, when I met him [Adjetey] and explained that he had accused me without basis, they pleaded with me to tone down my response, which made no sense. I am saying this because many people have repeatedly claimed that I behaved the same way when I was Minority Leader. If I had, we could have turned things around within two years, and we almost won the 2004 elections”, he added.

Alban Bagbin was then Minority Leader under the J.A. Kufuor-led government.

Mother demands justice as newborn baby is injured during a cesarean section

0

A mother is demanding justice after her newborn baby sustained a deep cut near the ear during a caesarean.

According to reports, the incident happened at the Jasikan District Hospital.

In a post shared on X by GHOne TV, on Monday, November 17, 2025, read, “A mother in the Oti Region is seeking justice after her newborn allegedly suffered a deep cut near the ear during a cesarean at Jasikan District Hospital.

The family says they were not informed of the injury before being discharged.

The baby was transferred to another hospital for treatment, and the family is demanding answers from the hospital and health authorities. No statement has been issued by the facility”.

Meanwhile, the Jasikan District Hospital has yet to release a statement regarding the news.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “You know they sign a consent form before the procedure. They’re using knives and scissors to cut open the womb. It can happen to the Best of surgeons. Yes the hospital was in the wrong for not informing the parent. The suing should be geared towards that, to foster communication”.

“Some of you are saying ‘complications’ occur only because it’s not your family member who’s the victim.

What stops a health professional or facility from being truthful to their patient about what happened during a surgical procedure and offering empathetic care?

Your attempts to excuse potential medical negligence and malpractice in this country are disgusting”, another netizen added.

One more X user added, “Accountability is what we fear in this country. And that’s why we are never moving forward. If mistakes are made, let’s hold people accountable. Then we learn, then we grow. In other news, a former prime minister is sentenced to death”

Additionally, another netizen added, “My sister’s own was worse, her cheeks were cut open and they had the courage to stick a newborn baby’s cheek. She still has the scars wide on her face, she is 21 now”.

In related news, A three-day-old baby has been dumped along the Kasoa Okrudu River in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

Reports suggest the mother is the alleged perpetrator of the shocking act.

According to eyewitnesses reported that animals had begun consuming the baby’s body when it was discovered.

The reasons for the act remain unknown, though the mother is alleged to be involved.

One male resident, “I was shocked when I saw this. I had to ask some of the elderly women in the area, who confirmed that the baby was not more than three days old. The baby is dead.”

Another witness stated, “The head is decomposing. The baby is dead. It is unfortunate. I don’t understand why someone would abandon the baby here.”

Also, Awutu Senya East Municipal NADMO Director confirmed the incident, stating that police are working to apprehend the suspect, while the baby’s body has been taken to the Police Hospital mortuary for investigations.

“We are working in collaboration with the Police to apprehend the one behind the incident. It occurred at the Kasoa Timber Market”.

“We cannot confirm if the baby was already dead before it was dumped at the scene or if it died after being dumped here.”

Watch as Ghana Prisons Officers pay an educational visit to Ejisu Technical School

0

Some officers of the Ghana Prisons Service have paid an educational visit to the Ejisu Senior High Technical School to share insights about prison life and the need for discipline among young persons.

The Prison Officers highlighted the harsh reality of life behind bars for the young student population and urged them to make informed life choices.

The Officers also made the student demonstrate how the prisoners sleep in their prison cells.

Speaking to the students, the officer stated, “When the prisoners are sleeping, they sleep without their dress due to the heat. About 19 of them sleep like this until it is 6 in the morning.

In Prison, even if you will drink water, there is time for that, if you will bathe, there is time for that, and you don’t eat the food you want”.

Some netizens reacting to the viral video stated, “Why don’t we replace religious and moral education with teachings like this. It should begin in basic schools. Because as rational beings we weigh the consequences of acts before we take them, thus if they’re aware these will be conditions when they misbehave, they might be guarded”.

“This is a very good initiative. It will paint a picture of how prison life is in Ghana, which is likely to deter people from going into crime”, another netizen added.

One more X user added, “This is commendable. Educating the younger generation about the consequences of crime is one of the best ways to curb it in the future”.

In related prison news, there were emotional scenes at the Kumasi Central Prison as inmates granted a presidential amnesty by John Dramani Mahama reunited with their families.

In the viral short video, the Kumasi Central Prison inmates granted amnesty were captured visibly emotional as they waited patiently to be reunited with their families.

The former inmates were later met at the gate of the Kumasi Central Prison by their families, embracing them and sharing passionate moments.

It will be recalled that President John Mahama, on August 18, 2025, granted amnesty to 998 prisoners across the country.

The presidential amnesty follows a recommendation of the Prisons Service Council, in consultation with the Council of State, and in accordance with Article 72(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The decision was announced in a statement by the Presidency, issued and signed by the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

It revealed a total of 1,014 inmates were recommended for amnesty, out of which 998 were approved.

The Presidential amnesty is a constitutional provision that allows the President to pardon prisoners or reduce their sentences on the recommendations from the Prisons Service Council and the Council of State.

The Presidential amnesty is used as a measure to decongest prisons, also to address humanitarian concerns, and ensure justice is tempered with mercy.

It is particularly for defenceless groups such as the elderly, the sick, and nursing mothers.

“When we are united, no evil can touch any of us” – Afenyo-Markin tells NPP

0

The minority leader in parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has told his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) members that when they are united, no evil can touch them.

Afenyo-Markin made these remarks when he recounted how Nana B came to his home around 4 a.m. to urge him to go and represent Abronye in court.

Speaking on Movement TV, Afenyo-Markin stated, “At dawn, I was scrolling through social media, and around 4 am, Nana B called me. When I picked he told me he was at my gate. When he came inside, he told me they had taken Abronye to court”.

He further revealed that when they arrived, the judge was visibly shaken by the presence of numerous high-profile NPP figures who had turned up to support Abronye.

Afenyo-Markin further emphasised that the turnout was a clear demonstration of the strength of unity within the party, noting that if the NPP remains united, nothing can bring them down.

He added, “After a few. Days of public outcry, the Attorney General himself went for variation, so have you seen the power in unity? It was a wake-up call that when we are united, as a party, no evil can touch any of us.

It will be recalled, Abronye was arrested on Monday, September 8, by the Ghana Police Service, based on what the police described as “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”

The Accra Circuit Court had also remanded Abronye into police custody for one week.

Before his arrest, he had sought political asylum and security protection over threats on his life by government operatives and IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno and his boys.

Afenyo-Markin, at the time, quizzed the Ghana Police Service’s decision to keep NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, in the custody of the NIB for a misdemeanour.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the NIB is not interrogating Abronye, nor are they investigating him.

He questioned why the Police would send Abronye, who is being investigated on a matter which is a misdemeanour, into NIB custody.

Speaking to the media at the Accra Circuit Court on September 12, Afenyo-Markin stated, “The police invited him on Monday, September 8. He responded to the invitation, went with his lawyers, and submitted himself to interrogations. Within an hour of interrogations, he was whisked into NIB custody”.

“Why would the police, investigating a matter and having their own cells, decide to send a citizen who is being investigated on a matter which is a misdemeanour into NIB custody?” he questioned

He further explained, “Our checks at the NIB confirm that the NIB is not interrogating Abronye. Neither are they investigating him. According to the NIB, they are only the recipient of the man Abronye. In other words, the police sent him there so that they could keep him. That is why they received him. But they are not the ones who are investigating”.

“So the question is, why would the Ghana Police Service claim to be investigating a person and rather decide to send him to NIB cells? Is it to punish him or what?”

The minority leader added, “They kept him the whole of the night and on Tuesday morning, being the 9th, he was brought to court

“When they brought him to court, the police insisted that they still needed him for further investigation; therefore, they wanted him to be remanded into lawful custody. Of course, the judge upheld the application and remanded Abronye to be brought to court today.

Abronye was later granted bail of the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety, without justification.

“For 3 days, we have not had sex, give us back our husbands” – Dadwene women demand after military and police raid

0

Some women residents of Kyekyewere-Dadwene in the Ashanti region have demanded the return of their husbands following the joint military and police operation in the community.

According to the women, for three days they have not had sexual intercourse following the military and police raid.

The women during the protest demanded President John Mahama give them back their husbands, arguing that they committed no crime.

They further highlighted that their husbands are not involved in galamsey.

Speaking during their protest, the Kyekyewere-Dadwene women stated, “For three days, women in Dadwene have not had sex; we are begging the government to give us back our husbands. Our husbands committed no crime; they are not involved in galamsey”

Their protest comes following the Police and the Military’s storming of Dadwen in the Ashanti Region in a dawn operation to arrest suspects behind the attack on members of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) team and Journalists.

Reports suggest the swoop occurred in early Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025.

The operation was conducted by a coordinated nationwide operation by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service to bring the perpetrators to justice.

A statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, confirmed the ongoing operations.

She revealed that the operation extends to Dadwen and Anwona in the Ashanti Region.

Also, Ehi in the Volta Region, Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani towns in the Ahafo Region.

The Police–Military team swoops follow the attack on the EPA task force and journalists.

The raid followed, two journalists who were accompanying the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on an anti-illegal mining mission who were critically injured after an attacked by a group of galamseyers.

According to reports, the incident happened near Obuasi after the team was attacked by a group of miners at Dadwene, a community near Obuasi.

The EPA officers and journalists, under pressure, retreated for safety.

Reports suggest that as the EPA team made their way through Afari, the situation worsened when one of the vehicles was involved in an accident.

Several were injured, including two journalists in critical condition following the crash.

Ibrahim Abubakar, the Ashanti Regional Correspondent for Media General, and another reporter from Adom News were caught up in the incident.

“Why didn’t they do it, if it was that simple?” – Ato Forson tackles Amin Adam on economy

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, has hit back at the former finance minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, after he attempted to downplay the economic gains the country has made under the Mahama government.

According to Ato Forson, Amin Adam was a finance minister for more than 10 months, but his economic record was poor.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on November 14, 2025, Dr Ato Forson detailed, “I’ve heard NPP say this, but if it was that simple, why didn’t they do that? If, clearly, the economy can rebound that fast under their regime, why didn’t they do it? And I had the immediate past minister, Honourable Amin, my colleague in Parliament, in a press statement.

“I’ve been at the Ministry of Finance for 10 months. I was there in February, so 10 months, even less than 10 months. He was there for the same period as a minister. And his record speaks for itself, and my record speaks for itself. So he was there the same period that I was there.

In fact, he was there, I think, from February or so till January. I’ve been there from February to November. So maybe he stayed even more than I, and so his record speaks for itself, and his record speaks for itself,” he said.

Ato Forson further fired Amin Adam and the NPP for being responsible for the economic mess.

He added, “The NPP were the same people who drove this country to the mess that we are seeing, and we had to sacrifice to be able to turn the tide”.

According to Ato Forson, he has the full support of President Mahama as he maintains discipline and implements prudent policies.

Ato Forson stated, “Let me say this, what we have been able to achieve is largely because of discipline and prudent policies and the coordination we are seeing from the fiscal authorities and the monetary authorities. That is what is giving us the results and, most importantly, the backing from President Mahama.

“Because I couldn’t have achieved the discipline that I’m introducing without the backing of the President, and because of his backing, the government is able to make the necessary changes in our fiscal management. If not him, this couldn’t have been achieved. I may have the intentions, but I will certainly need his backing.

The sort of backing I’m getting from His Excellency the President is giving me the will, the political will, to implement the reforms, very deep-seated reforms in the affairs of managing our fiscal, and that is what is yielding the results that we are seeing,” he stressed.

Ato Foson’s comments come following the NPP caucus and Amin Adam describing the 2026 budget as a “Galamsey Budget, growthless, jobless and minimalist”.

He accused the government of offering only “cosmetic rhetoric,” while “crawling” through economic challenges.

During a press conference at Parliament House in Accra on Friday, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam stated, “The Government chose to present even more half-baked policy ideas packaged as transformative initiatives. As a result, we look set to endure another year of fiscal indiscipline, masked as prudence, despite the economic evidence demanding a change in approach. What we need is economic transformation, which Ghanaians were promised, but what we see now is economic stagnation masquerading as progress.”

“I saw thousands dying, demons looking for blood” – Nigel Gaisie drops prophecy ahead of Detty December

0

Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the founder and leader of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, has dropped a prophecy ahead of the events scheduled for December in Ghana.

The man of God issued a stern warning to event organisers within the Ghanaian entertainment industry concerning programs this December.

According to Nigel Gaisie, in his revelation, he saw fire breaking out during a large event, leading to the tragic deaths of several event attendees.

Nigel Gaisie urged event organisers, the IGP, and National Security to prioritise safety, crowd control, and emergency preparedness.

Speaking to his congregants on Sunday, November 16, Prophet Nigel Gaisie detailed, “From now to December to the 7th of January, the hand of the Lord picked me I saw in the realm of the supernatural that they have plotted especially for the entertainment industry of the Republic of Ghana. This is what I saw when the spirit of the Lord carried me.

I saw that the people of Ghana majority of them, were at an event centre, and all of a sudden, I saw something like fire; there was disorder, then I saw chaotic order in my vision. All of a sudden, I saw hundreds and thousands dying.

So this December, the organiser of the entertainment industry must hear the voice of God, and National Security should hear the voice of God, and CDS should hear the voice of God, IGP should hear the voice of God, and the participant of this program should hear the voice of God”.

Nigel Gaisie added, “Demons are looking for blood, to embarrass this government. If we do not pray, it will be a national cry. So I will pray at my level and let the prayer warriors also pick it up. If you get this video, let’s pray for the Republic of Ghana and let us take precautions.

Don’t insult from the internet, I hear from God, the Lord said I should tell the nation so that intercessors will pray, so that our mothers will pray, so that those organising this event will take precaution measures.

They have plotted death, and it’s going to be massive deaths, it will come through events”.

Some netizens reacting to Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s doom prophecy stated, “What if it was his own 31st night church vision he saw?”.

Another X user added, “Why does it always have to be a doom prophecy? Why God never dey show blessings for Ghana?”.

One more X user added, “In the entire Christian Scripture, demons or even Satan himself are never portrayed as entities that can orchestrate disasters or cause human deaths. All such events are attributed to the acts of God for various reasons.

However, in contemporary Christianity, some faith leaders claim Satan can cause accidents, take lives, and destroy property. This belief is common in mysticism, witchcraft, and Wicca, not biblical Christianity.

Meanwhile, when lives are lost in other places, as happened at El-Wak a few days ago, authorities ask what went wrong in the planning and organisation of the event, not which demonic forces caused it”.

“Masa, if Dampare ask him for evidence, he can’t provide. We dey think oooh, they never saw the development of this nation. But rather death. The God them they serve is different from the one we know, anaa ?”, another netizen added.

Additionally, an X user added, “You don’t need the Holy Spirit to show you anything…. They’re right there, those people are right there, just be careful around that party and their associates”.

“Always giving negative prophecies, feeding fear into Ghanaians to be more tame and timid, because that’s exactly how they eat.  Most prophecies are from demons; that’s exactly how they live. Read the Bible yourself, and you’ll know the real ones by their ways”, another Ghanaian added.

“False and contrived” – GoldBod rebut Asaase Radio GH¢3bn loss claim

0

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has refuted media reports by Accra-based Asaase Radio.

Asaase Radio had earlier claimed the GoldBod recorded losses exceeding GH¢3 billion in its first year of operations.

However, GoldBod, in a statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, rebutted the allegations, describing them as false and contrived.

The Goldbod statement read, “The attention of the Ghana Gold Board (“GoldBod”) has been drawn to a publication by “Asaaseradio” alleging that the GoldBod has recorded losses in excess of GHC3 billion in its first year of operations.

The GoldBod wishes to put on record that the publication under reference is entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contributions of the GoldBod to the revitalisation of Ghana’s economy”.

The statement added, “Contrary to the mischievous claims contained in the said publication, the GoldBod has been making significant surpluses/profits since its establishment. Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod, which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation, will bear this fact out”.

The Goldbod further urged Asaaseradio to retract and render an unqualified apology to the general public for such misleading publication.

“The Ghana Gold Board urges the general public to treat this false publication by ‘Asaaseradio’ with utmost contempt and calls on the management of the station to retract and render an unqualified apology to the general public for such misleading and unethical publication”, the statement added.

In related news, the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) and the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) have revealed Ghana’s small-scale gold export sector has generated over US$8 billion in foreign exchange.

According to the data released by Goldbod, between January and 15th October 2025, over US$8 billion was generated for foreign exchange through the small-scale gold export sector.

The data showed small-scale miners exported 81,719.23 kilograms of gold during the period, valued at US$8.06 billion.

The data showed an increase from US$4.61 billion recorded in 2024, nearly quadruple the amount achieved in 2023, which was US$2.19 billion.

Sizable monthly gains were in May (US$1.17 billion), June (US$957.9 million), and April (US$897.6 million).

Also, Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has clarified that the Goldbod is not in the market buying galamsey gold.

The CEO explained that licensed private individuals make the purchases of gold, not GoldBod.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Sammy Gyamfi explained, “To create the impression that nobody was buying galamsey gold and all of a sudden GoldBod is now giving it a market is clearly wrong”.

“There has always been a market for gold anywhere in the world, including Ghana. Have we ever woken up to any news that there is stranded gold in Ghana? There’s always demand,” he said.

He detailed, “Gold Board itself is not on the market buying gold. These licensed buyers are not stationed at mining sites. They sit in their offices, mostly in district and regional capitals, and buy gold brought to them. They have no technology or system to tell whether the gold was mined responsibly or not”.

“It is this five-month-old corporation called Gold Board that has now been given the mandate to find a solution to that problem. You think we can find a solution in five months to a problem that has existed for decades?” he asked.

Kwahuhemaa released after her abduction – Police

0

The Ghana Police Service has revealed, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua, the Kwahuhemaa, has been released following her abduction during an early morning raid at the palace of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council.

The Ghana Police made this known in a post on X on Monday, November 17, 2025.

The Police post stated, “The Inspector-General of Police has directed the release of the Queen Mother of Kwahu, following an operation by some officers this morning”.

“The IGP has further directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau to conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the operation, and any officers found culpable will be sanctioned. Meanwhile, security has been intensified in and around Kwahu to ensure the safety of all persons”, the post further stated.

This comes after reports that Nana Adwoa Gyemfua was abducted following a raid at the Palace of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council at Abene.

Reports suggest the attack occurred on Monday, November 17, 25, around 4 a.m.

According to the information gathered, Armed men, reportedly dressed in police uniforms, claiming to be from the National Security, raided the Palace of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council at Abene.

The official Toyota Land Cruiser of the Kwahuhene was taken during the raid.

Tracking information from the Toyota Land Cruiser revealed was en route to Accra.

The Nkawkaw and Kwahu Divisional Police Commands have said they had no knowledge of any operations conducted by the personnel who identified themselves as national security agents.

In related news, the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of four suspects for the murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the destooled Akwamuhene of Tanoso in the Bono East Region.

According to the Police statement, the suspects were arrested between Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The suspects have been identified as Issifu Addae (alias Akwasi Addae), aged 48, Stephen Gyamfi, aged 55, Augustine Arhinful, aged 42, and Martha Mansah, aged 65.

The deceased had reportedly been destooled but contested the decision, leading to disputes.

According to police sources, all four suspects have denied any involvement in the killing during interrogation but are in custody, assisting investigations, while police pursue four others linked to the case.

The findings suggest the late destooled chief had been accused of misappropriating five gold bars belonging to the family, and also illegally selling family land.

The suspects Issifu Addae, Stephen Gyamfi, Sampson, and Fosu allegedly visited the disputed land to stop the developer from continuing work and threatened to teach the deceased a lesson.

The Police Investigators further suspect the newly installed Akwamuhene, Nana Akyeampong Duodu, might have masterminded the murder.

Nana Akyeampong Duodu is said to have travelled to the United States at the time of the murder to establish an alibi.

“That was stupid talk” – Lawyer Ampaw fires Stephen Amoah over Samuel Aboagye’s window saga

0

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has criticised the Member of Parliament for Nhyieso Stephen Amoah (Sticka) for disclosing that he once had affairs with the wife of the late parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Obuasi East constituency, Samuel Aboagye.

Maurice Ampaw believes such revelations are immature and should have been kept private, especially considering the current sensitive circumstances.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Maurice Ampaw stated, “Sticka didn’t help himself, coming out to say he was in a relationship with her (Abigail Aboagye). That was stupid talk; Sticka didn’t show maturity. Some things are secret; they are not supposed to be known.

When you were in a relationship with her was a secret, and no one knew about it, he could have denied it”.

His comments follow, Stephen Amoah, who, in an interview, debunked the allegation linking him to the child of the former NADMO Deputy Director, Samuel Aboagye, one of the 8 victims of the helicopter crash.

According to Stephen Amoah, he met Abigail Aboagye seven years ago, but had not seen her for the past seven years until he was invited to her husband’s funeral.

He argued that he only met her again during the funeral of her husband, which makes it impossible for him to be the father of the three-year-old daughter of the widow.

The Nhyieso MP further argued that he is not crazy to father a child with someone’s wife.

Speaking during an interview, Stephen Amoah stated, “I have no issues with anyone in the family. I don’t know any of them, not even the young man (Samuel Aboagye)… I knew the lady seven years ago, but I had not seen her for the past seven years, till recently, when I was invited to her husband’s funeral, which I attended.

“I don’t know her husband anywhere… For over seven years, the only time I saw her was at the funeral, where I asked how she was doing,” he added.

The MP further detailed, “Do you know that when I went to the funeral, her sister, who looked like her, tried to hug me? But thinking it was her, Abigail Aboagye, I rejected the hug and told her that widows are not supposed to be doing this. And the sister said that, ‘Honourable, you are mistaking me for AB, I’m not AB ooo.’ This is now serious; it is”.

“Do I look like someone who will father a child with someone’s wife? Why am I crazy?” he quizzed.

He reiterated, “For the past six to seven years, I have never seen her. The last time I met and exchanged pleasantries with her was at the funeral.”

The rumpus follows: the family of Samuel Aboagye, who is requesting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of a child he shared with his wife, Abigail Aboagye.

The family has sued her for obstructing the investigation, but she’s also asking the court to stop the DNA test mission.

However, Abigail Aboagye has refused to consent to the test and has filed a petition in court to stop the family from proceeding with it.

Rumours suggest, Abigail Aboagye was allegedly having an affair with one Ashanti Region MP (name withheld), even before he passed away.

In court, Mrs Aboagye’s legal representatives have reportedly filed a motion asking the court to reject the family’s request.

The Obuasi District Court has adjourned the case to December 23, 2025.

Some netizens reacting to Maurice Ampaw’s remarks stated, “When I was at training, I remember one thing they always used to drill us on was how to keep secrets. We were told to be ready to die with some secrets. Not even our spouses are supposed to know certain secrets. On this note, I agree with this foolish lawyer”.

“He was debunking allegations made by Black Rasta that he may be the father of the child, so Maurice should rest”, another netizen added.

Meanwhile, Authorities are yet to provide official statements; however, investigations are underway into the attack and abduction.

El-Wak injured victims to receive special recruitment package – GAF

0

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has said all persons injured at the El-Wak Stadium stampede will receive a special recruitment package.

According to GAF, the November 12 stampede victims will receive free medical care at the 37 hospital until they are fully recovered and also receive a special recruitment package after recovery.

GAF, in a press statement on Monday, November 17, 2025, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), Acting Director General of Public Relations, also announced the resumption of its recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region.

According to GAF, its recruitment exercise resumes beginning Thursday, November 20, 2025.

They also announced that the screening process will be placed in eight sub-centres within five key locations in Accra.

“El-Wak Stadium – 2 centres, Nicholson Park, Burma Camp – 2 centres, Air Force Base, Burma Camp, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie – 2 centres and the Eastern Naval Command, Tema”, GAF statement detailed.

The statement further revealed that all qualified applicants will be grouped in batches of 600 and will receive notifications detailing their reporting dates and centres.

They further urged applicants to regularly check the recruitment portal for updates.

The statement further added that new officers will now oversee the recruitment process, which includes Commodore F.A. Nyarko – Director General, Human Resource, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko – Director, Manpower, and Colonel G.B. Eduah – Director, Information Technology.

This follows the six people who have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

According to GAF, 28 people were taken to the 37 Military Hospital.

They further revealed that six people have died, with five in the ICU and another 12 in critical condition.

Reports suggest the six died as a result of a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra after thousands of young Ghanaians thronged the El-Wak stadium in a desperate bid to secure enlistment into the Ghana military.

Meanwhile, Prophet Kofi Oduro, the General Overseer of Alabaster International Ministries, has boldly told the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to refund the 60,000 applicants’ money.

The man of God communicated displeasure in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) following the deaths of six young girls during the military recruitment.

According to Prophet Oduro, the Ghana Armed Forces knew they were looking for a thousand people and should have capped their system at ten thousand, arguing that GAF allowed sixty thousand Ghanaians to show up when they were only looking for four thousand.

Speaking to his congregants, Prophet Oduro stated, “The Armed Forces have given people the opportunity to blaspheme the institution. You are looking for four thousand people. So then the system should be capped at ten thousand.

We block the portal. Case closed. We allow sixty thousand to come in when we want only four thousand, he added.

Prophet Oduro boldly declared that the Ghana Armed Forces must refund the fees of all 60,000 applicants if they fail to recruit them.

According to him, the blood of the six victims who died during the El-Wak stampede would be on the hands of the Army if they fail to refund the 60,000 Ghanians.

“So then I stand on this altar and I say to the Ghana Armed Forces, refund the money of all those 60,000 people. If you don’t enlist them… all the blood of these girls shall be on your head,” he added.

Kevin Okyere granted US$20m bail, restricted from leaving Dubai

0

Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP), has been released on a US$20 million bail in Dubai.

Reports, however, suggest, Kevin Okyere has been restricted from leaving the emirate.

This follows a US$94 million fraud case filed by Switzerland-based Petraco Oil Company SA against Okyere.

Mr Okyere’s bail in Dubai is the latest development in a protracted international legal dispute involving high-value petroleum transactions, cross-border arbitration, and allegations of large-scale fraud.

His arrest came despite previous petitions by Petraco Oil Company to Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) and the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

According to the information gathered, the Swiss company, frustrated by the lack of response in Ghana, pursued legal action in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

It has been claimed that the Office of the Attorney General stalled the case because it was seen as a civil issue that does not require state intervention.

Another claim highlighted that the Mahama government was working to help Springfield, “whose desperate unitization prospect with the Italian oil giant, ENI, didn’t see the light of day, either to sell the block, Afina, to the state or to have it appraised for takeover by another company.

The unitization between Springfield’s Afina discovery and ENI’s Sankofa field in Ghana was a years-long dispute that resulted in a government directive from the Akufo-Addo administration to combine the fields for more efficient development”.

Mr Okyere’s arrest was in connection with what is described as a “systematic and orchestrated economic crime” involving nearly US$93 million allegedly perpetrated by Springfield Exploration & Production Limited and GMP Energy Limited, both Ghanaian oil companies, along with their senior executives.

Meanwhile, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, a Ghanaian businessman and real estate mogul, has called on authorities to bring back Kevin Okyere, following reports that the Springfield Group CEO has been detained in Dubai.

Reports claim Mr Okyere was arrested in the company of the two bodyguards and was detained upon landing in Dubai for a transit stop on an Emirates Airlines flight en route to Paris.

The real estate mogul, in a passionate statement, described Kevin Okyere as one of Ghana’s most intelligent and visionary young entrepreneurs.

Nana Kwame Bediako lamented Ghana’s recurring pattern of undermining its brightest minds, citing past examples of Kwame Nkrumah, local banks, Darko Poultry Farms and Apino soaps.

He further urged the government to rise above political influence to protect innovators who are building the nation’s future.

In a post on social media, Nana Kwame Bediako wrote, “Kevin Okyere is one of the most intelligent, visionary young Ghanaians of our time ,a man who secured an oil block before age 40, who could have brought billions of dollars into our economy. A deep thinker. A future builder. A rare national asset”.

He added, “Ghana has mastered one thing: destroying its brightest sons and daughters.

We look for the bad in our own people, even when they are the ones creating wealth around us. We are not building men. We are killing souls.

We betrayed Nkrumah.

We destroyed our banks.

We collapsed Darko Poultry Farms, which could have been feeding half of Africa today.

We crippled Apino soaps”.

Cheddar post added, “And today, we stand here again, watching another bright son of this nation being cast out.

A nation that attacks its visionaries has no future. Our future must not depend on politics. Our government must protect Ghanaian innovators and not politicians’ interests.

I hope the government rises above political influence and stands for what is right.

Protect your young builders. Protect your future”.

“I knew Samuel Aboagye’s wife 7 years ago, but I’m not the father of Abigail’s child” – Stephen Amoah

0

Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Nhyieso, has debunked the allegation linking him to the child of the former NADMO Deputy Director, Samuel Aboagye, one of the 8 victims of the helicopter crash.

Angel FM Kumasi (ABN) reporter, Chuku Joseph, detailing the matter on Angel FM Kumasi, stated, “Ali (Host), what is happening is that among the helicopter crash victims was Samuel Aboagye, the Deputy NADMO Director. We were called by Nana Kwabena Gyamara Oyiakwan II, the Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of Samuel, to witness the court proceedings.

“The issue is that after Samuel’s death, his wife, Abigail, was contacted for a DNA test requested by the government to confirm the identities of the crash victims.

He added, “At the time, she was in the United States. She initially agreed to provide their child for the test, but when the date arrived, several calls to her went unanswered. When the family visited her residence, they discovered she had left with the child.”

“According to the family, while Samuel was alive, he allegedly expressed doubts about the paternity of the child, claiming the boy resembled a child of a certain politician, who is a Member of Parliament in the Ashanti Region,” Chuku noted.

The Angel FM reporter added, “The chief mentioned the politician’s name, but since there is no concrete evidence so for now, we cannot disclose it publicly”.

“It appears that she was allegedly dating the said politician before marrying Samuel, and the family claims the child resembles the politician. Because of these suspicions, the family wants a DNA test conducted by MediLab in Kumasi. But Abigail refused, left for the United States, and the family has now brought the issue before the Obuasi District Court,” Chuku explained.

“How did Gloria Owusu get into Parliament?” – Kwesi Pratt shreds Trobu MP

0

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the Managing Editor of Insight Newspaper, has fired the Member of Parliament for the Trobu constituency, Gloria Owusu, following her remarks concerning the Covid-levy.

According to the MP for Trobu, it is not true that the government has removed the COVID-19 levy.

Speaking after the 2026 budget reading, Gloria Owusu stated, it is not true that they have scrap covid levy. I am a Member of Parliament and a businesswoman. I have written duties and I can show them to you. The COVID-19 levy still exists. It is not true that the government has removed it.

If the Minister is saying he has scrapped it, I don’t know if the effect will start from tomorrow, but as we speak, anyone who deals in importation knows that the levy still exists.

Reacting to the Trobu MP comments, Kwesi Pratt quizzed how Gloria Owusu got into Parliament if she could not understand that the budget read was for 2026 and is yet to be approved.

The veteran journalist argued that the MP’s remarks show she is ignorant of the Constitution.

Speaking on Pan Africa TV, Kwesi Pratt stated, “I saw a video of a lady, an NPP Member of Parliament, who was asked to comment on the budget, and she was like, ‘We should go to the market, the prices are the same, nothing has changed”.

“And I was wondering how this woman got into Parliament. Why? This woman is an Article 71 officeholder. She is sitting in Parliament and doesn’t know that what was read was the 2026 Budget. She doesn’t know that as of yesterday, the budget hadn’t been approved”, he said.

Meanwhile, some Ghanians fired back at Kwesi Pratt, saying, “Hypocrites. She’s better than about half of the NDC MPs, yet he doesn’t ask how they got there. We all hear them when they try to speak in parliament”.

“His statement alone of saying NPP member of parliament got me angry. This person was sent by the people of a certain constituency, so why don’t we learn sense by mentioning the name of the constituency? This is why when our MPs are in parliament stand against even good policies”, one more X user added.

One netizen added, “Better to stay mute than to comment on a subject you’ve little or no knowledge about. No one knew her, probably, but here we’re trying to fathom how she sneaked into parliament. It’s okay to be ignored on certain subjects, just don’t expose yourself in an embarrassing manner”.

A netizen added, “I also said the same thing oooo. You see the voters are our problem oooo they just vote anything bia to be an MP”.

“Wait oo Kwesi Pratt thinks even his own blood daughter, who looks like him, is smarter than Gloria Owusu. Masa, you are delusional cos your girl is emptier and useless”, another X user added.

Additionally, a netizen added, “We learn from each other every day. The MP was either confused or she lacked comprehension about the budget. The budget is for 2026, and the things will take effect next year”.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has said that the Government abolishing the COVID-19 Levy will hand GH₵3.7 billion back to households and businesses.

Ato Forson stated, “Mr Speaker, by abolishing the COVID-19 levy, Government is putting GH₵3.7 billion in the pockets of individuals and businesses in 2026 alone”.

Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia’s remarks have caught the attention of Ghanaians, with netizens saying, “Bawumia couldn’t bring ‘Abrokyire’ to his hometown or the Greater Accra in 8 years, yet he wants power. @KevinEkowTaylor is right. Next joke please”.

“If he has been a to promised the people of Cape Coast an airport,  what else can he not promise?”, a netizen added.

One more X user added, “His boss promised to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.  What is the state of Accra?

Where is the airport you promised, Cape Coast?”.

A netizen noted, “Bawumia wants to take glory but not the shame. I did this, I did that, same time you were not in charge of anything, not the economy, not finance, nothing. Meanwhile, the digitalisation was not being run at the office of the vice president either”.

Also, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a presidential candidate hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are afraid of him ahead of the 2028 elections.

“This is an old video from 2024”, another netizen stated.

A netizen added, “Dem go force make you to release ‘one-shoulder’ videos sometimes is best if you keep mute‼️all pointing back to rumours”.

“What you’re doing is rather giving grounds to whatever rumour. Mo nsua nyansa kakra”, an X user added.

“I still don’t understand why this man would have come to his page and made comments, especially about the recent happenings in the country”, another netizen added.

Additionally, a netizen added, “Life hack: Never give people the reaction they want from you. Play smart, and starve them”.

In related news, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the private legal practitioner and activist, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to protect Malik Basintale’s natural street-mobilising talent.

According to Vormawor, the appointment of Malik Baintale to a bureaucratic role was a strategic blunder.

He noted that Basintale has been a revelation for the NDC during the run-up to the 2024 elections by earning street credibility and mobilising the youths.

Vormawor asserted that the Basintale boy should have been kept from outside Government and given a full-time job to mobilise support for the NDC 24/7.

This follows parliament approval after his appearance at the appointments committee.

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the most senior Supreme Court judge, was appointed by President Mahama to act as Chief Justice during the investigation process of sacked CJ Torkornoo.

He is now confirmed as the substantive head of the judiciary after he was nominated by John Mahama.

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie was appointed to the Supreme Court in June 2008 by then-President John Agyekum Kufuor and is among the most senior justices of the apex court.

His appointment follows. President John Mahama sacking the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect after he received a first report from the five-member committee he constituted to investigate three petitions brought against the Chief Justice.

Hours after President Mahama received the committee reports, Chief Justice Torkornoo was sacked with immediate effect.

A statement from the presidency stated, “President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Article 146(9) of the 1992 Constitution, removed the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect”.

“This follows receipt of the report of the Committee constituted under Article 146(6) to inquire into a petition submitted by a Ghanaian citizen, Mr Daniel Ofori. After considering the petition and the evidence, the Committee found that the grounds of stated misbehaviour under Article 146(1) had been established and recommended her removal from office.

“Under Article 146(9), the President is required to act in accordance with the Committee’s recommendation,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, a private citizen, identified as Gbande Nabin Yussif has has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to sack the yet to be sworn in Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.

In a petition signed by Gbande Nabin Yussif on October 6, 2025, the private citizen is pleading with President Mahama to sack the acting chief justice on the grounds of misbehaviour.

He references comments made by Paul Baffoe-Bonnie following a lawsuit filed by Israel Tetteh, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamokpor, and a group calling itself the Ghana Law Society.

Parts of Gbande Nabin Yussif’s comments read, “I respectfully submit this petition for the removal of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and currently Acting Chief Justice, on the grounds of stated misbehaviour. Article 146(1) provides that: A Justice of the Superior Court or a Chairman of a Regional Tribunal shall not be removed from office except for stated misbehaviour or incompetence or on the ground of inability to perform the functions of his office arising from infirmity of body or mind.”

“The Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct have been endorsed by the United Nations as part of the global standards for judicial ethics and have been recognised as an inspiring literature in drawing up Ghana’s Judicial Code of Conduct”, part of the petition reads.

The petitioner noted that the acting CJ’s statement is a breach of multiple provisions of Ghana’s Judicial Code.

Ghana’s Presidential Jet returns home after 8 months of repair works

0

The Vice-President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, has revealed that Ghana’s presidential jet, the Falcon 900 Executive Jet, has returned home after eight months of repair work in France.

According to Bright Simons, Ghana’s presidential jet underwent a compulsory maintenance process while in France.

In a post on X, Bright Simons wrote, “Ghana’s presidential jet has been delivered safely back into the custody of the Ghana Air Force since Monday, the 10th of November. Exactly 8 months after it was sent to the Dassault Falcon Service MRO base at Paris Le Bourget (PLB).

Whilst at PLB, it underwent a MANDATORY 24-month and 1600-hour technical inspection”.

Mr Simons further detailed, “During this extensive inspection, severe defects affecting the fuel tank and a turbofan were discovered, triggering prolonged repairs that could only be done with manufacturer assistance at that specific Dassault facility.

All the complex repairs, final tests (including leak tests, engine ground runs, and acceptance flights), have been successfully completed. The long delay in completing the repairs was due to some apparent difficulty sourcing certain OEM-certified spare parts. The aircraft has, however, been given the all clear by DFS now.

Before delivery to Accra, a positioning flight from Marseille, relating to minor logistics, was conducted”, his post concluded.

Also, Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Deputy Minister for Defence, some days ago provided parliament with updates on Ghana’s presidential aircraft, the Falcon 900 Executive Jet.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defence, the presidential aircraft is in its final stages of testing in France.

The Deputy Minister of Defence detailed that the Falcon 900 Executive Jet was ferried to Dassault Falcon Service in Le Bourget, France, for its mandatory 24-month and 1,600-flying-hour periodic inspection.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Ernest Brogya Genfi stated, “Mr Speaker, the Falcon 900 executive aircraft was ferried to Dassault Falcon Service in Le Bourget, France, on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, for the 24-monthly and 1,600-flying-hours periodic inspection.

This inspection is a mandatory airworthiness requirement that ensures that all main maintenance and due-list tasks compiled for the inspection are completed”.

He added, “After successfully repairing the section of the wing that experienced the leakages, other challenges were encountered while reinstalling the lower panel beneath the wing”.

“Upon completion of the rectification, the aircraft will undergo a leak test of the fuel tanks, a third engine ground run, painting of the wing lower panel, and finally, an acceptance flight will be performed,” he said.

Ghana’s Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet was purchased in 2009 and arrived in the country in 2010.

It replaced a 37-year-old Fokker 27 aircraft, which was regarded as a flying coffin.

The Falcon 900 EX Presidential Jet has since been grounded at the Dassault Falcon Service facility in Le Bourget, France, due to massive wear and tear issues.

In 2021, the former Akufo-Addo government sought to purchase a new and bigger jet for the Presidency, but faced public backlash over accusations of extravagant travels by Akufo-Addo.

How Akufo-Addo gov’t blew US$40m on armoured vehicles; with GAF receiving none

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance and the acting Minister of Defence, has revealed that Akufo-Addo government in 2020 paid US$40 million for armoured military vehicles, but the supplier has still not made any delivery.

According to Ato Forson, on 13th August 2020, the former Akufo-Addo government entered an agreement worth US$80 million with ELBIT Systems Land Ltd for the procurement of 19 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).

He revealed the country later paid US$40 million to the supplier; however, the Ghana Armed Forces has yet to receive a single Armoured Personnel Carrier.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement in Parliament on November 13, 2025, Dr Ato Forson made this shocking revelation, “Mr Speaker, on 13th August, 2020, the Government of Ghana entered into a supplier’s credit agreement of US$80 million with Messrs. ELBIT Systems Land Ltd for the procurement of nineteen (19) Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and related defence systems,” he said.

He continued, “Mr Speaker, sadly, despite the disbursement of US$40 million to the supplier, the Ghana Army has not received a single APC.”

“In light of the significant payment already made and to prevent financial loss to the State, the Government has taken steps to renegotiate the existing agreement with the supplier, and it will be re-presented to Parliament for consideration,” he stated.

Also, Ato Forson announced that the government will commence the procurement of four helicopters and two aircraft for the Ghana Air Force.

Mr Forson stated, “The Ghana Air Force will be retooled. Beginning in 2026, the Government of Ghana will initiate procurement processes for the acquisition of four modern helicopters, one long-range aircraft, and one medium-range aircraft. These are expected to be delivered within four years, provided the procurement is finalised in 2026”.

“In 2026, the government will procure two 72-meter Offshore Patrol Vessels equipped with helipads and combat systems. These vessels will enable the Navy to conduct long-endurance patrols, safeguard the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), prevent maritime crimes, protect critical offshore infrastructure, and support bunkering and oil field security operations,” he noted.

Mr Forson disclosed that the government will renegotiate a US$80 million agreement signed on August 13, 2020, with Messrs.

According to him, the deal was for the procurement of 19 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) and related defence systems.

Meanwhile, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has criticised the John Mahama government following its decision to buy a luxury helicopter instead of fighter jets for the military.

According to Ntim Fordjour, the government are buying a luxury helicopter to fly the President and ministers around.

He further quizzed what fighter jets the military is going to use as a fighting force.

Speaking after the 2026 budget presentation, Rev Ntim Fordjour stated, “The Military is a fighting force. Instead of buying military fighter jets, you are going to buy a luxury helicopter to fly your President and ministers around. What about the soldiers? What fighter jets are they going to use as a fighting force?

Instead of you to prioritise the urgent critical needs, you are rather prioritising what you will use to fly around”, he added.

“Mahama appointed me to get the job done, not to win popularity contests” – Ato Forson

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, has boldly stated that President John Dramani Mahama appointed him to get the job done and not to win popularity contests in ministries, departments, or agencies.

According to Ato Forson, his priority is to serve the masses and not to seek popularity.

He made these remarks while explaining his decision to cut non-essential spending like foreign travel, workshops, and luxury procurements.

Ato Forson further asserted that as finance minister, if one is popular among his colleagues, then there is something wrong.

Speaking during an interview on Joy NEWS after the 2026 budget reading, Dr Ato Forson stated, “If, as a finance minister, you are too popular, then there’s something wrong with it. Too popular within the group that you are talking about, then you are failing”.

“I want to be popular with the people of Ghana. Whatever I have to do to serve their needs and be able to save, to pay for school feeding, to pay for free SHS, to be able to put nurses in hospitals, to build hospitals, to give maternal care. Instead of somebody travelling, I will cut that expenditure and give it to someone who needs dialysis,” he indicated.

Ato Forson further revealed that President John Mahama read the entire 2026 Budget cover to cover, highlighting that the budget has the full backing of the president.

“The President read this budget cover to cover… This is his document, not my document. I read on his behalf… to Parliament and the people of Ghana,” he added.

Ato Forson further revealed that a damning audit report exposing billions of cedis will to be released next week.

The Finance Minister revealed that the Audit findings are so shocking that they could overshadow the 2026 Budget.

He stated, “The one thing that the auditors are certain about is that they have rejected ¢10 billion and said that they don’t pay because the liabilities are recycled”.

Ato Forson disclosed that auditors uncovered Interim Payment Certificates that had been recycled for the state to pay.

He added, “The report will be published next week. It will blow your mind. Let me tell you, it is damning, in fact, troubling.”

“Some of them felt that, oh, as for that one, it’s been processed and it’s legitimate,” he said. “I said, stop it. My instinct told me, ‘Stop it’, let’s subject it to audit.”

“You know how much was there? GH¢13 billion. That GH¢13 billion, the Auditor General has validated GH¢12 billion, the GH¢1 billion left, the Auditor General said, don’t pay, they are fictitious. So somebody just concocted.”

He highlighted the certificates. Passed through all the required processes, “only waiting at the Auditor General’s office, at the Controller and Accountant General’s office, and Bank of Ghana, just waiting for cash for payment. If not that audit, Ghana would have lost that one.”

“The names are there. The audit will be out, and so they will publish not only their names, but the companies and all those behind it.”

“Ghana is back and open for business” – Ato Forson declares

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has boldly declared that Ghana is back and open for business.

According to Ato Forson, the turnaround within 10 months of the Mahama administration is due to the resilience Ghanaian people and the government’s leadership.

The Finance Minister boldly told international partners and investors that Ghana has regained its economic stability.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Ato Forson stated, “To our international partners and investors, Ghana is back, strong, credible, and open for business. The story of Ghana is no longer one of crisis but of recovery and renewal”.

“The reforms we have undertaken are not quick fixes; they are the foundations of a resilient, competitive, and inclusive economy.”

He further recounted that the Mahama administration inherited a deeply distressed economy, “Ghana was indeed at the bottom of the abyss, a nation in distress with its economy bleeding and its people weary, yet yearning for leadership with the courage and vision to rebuild,”.

“Barely a year ago, our economy was uncertain. Today, the cedi in your pocket is stronger, prices are stabilising, and new opportunities are emerging across agriculture, industry, and technology,” he said.

Ato Forson added, “This progress is the fruit of sacrifice and discipline. Ghanaians tightened their belts, businesses adapted, and government stayed the course”.

Furthermore, Ato Forson has announced that the government will commence the construction of a 1,200-megawatt (MW) state-owned thermal power plant in 2026.

He revealed the move is part of the government plan to ensure a reliable and affordable electricity supply for the country.

The finance minister added that Ghana’s OCTP and Jubilee partners will produce 150 million standard cubic feet of gas, which will be sufficient to generate up to 1,200 megawatts of power.

Dr Forson said, “The 1,200-megawatt state-owned thermal power plant will support the provision of reliable and affordable power while ensuring long-term energy security for the country”.

In related news, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has stated that Ghana’s problem has always been borrowing.

According to Ato Forson, the country sometimes borrows just for consumption.

Ato Forson revealed he has no intention to rush back to the international capital market for loans.

He emphasised that Ghana must break the cycle of reckless borrowing, adding that borrowing must be deliberate and growth-focused.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express after presenting the 2026 Budget, Dr Ato Forson stated, “It has been Ghana’s problem, borrowing, borrowing, sometimes borrowing for consumption”.

He stressed. “I’m not one of those people. I’m not in a hurry to go to the capital market to borrow, no way. If I’m to take money, obviously there’s a budget, there’s a deficit to a stent, and you have to finance the deficit. I will take it domestically,” he said.

“We should be able to borrow and set up a domestic infrastructure board in cedi, so that you, if you have money and you want to support infrastructure, you should be able to support the government,” he said.

He added, “The appetite is not going into the capital market just to borrow. Like in the past, we saw it 3 billion every year.”

“You want to borrow smart, what does that mean? Borrow for things that you think the multiplier is better,” he said. “Let me put it simpler, not to borrow for shopping, okay, borrow for growth.”

Police, Immigration, Prisons, and Fire Service recruitment to be fully digital – Interior Minister

0

Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister for the Interior, has revealed that the Prisons, Immigration, Police and Fire Service recruitment will be fully digital.

According to him, the digitised recruitment processes will eliminate manual queues and prevent further tragedies.

He revealed the new system will replace paper-based procedures with an online application platform.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, November 14, the Minister stated, “Our hope is to have a seamless process. Everything will be moved from paper to paperless. You can start the process and finish with your mobile phone from the comfort of your home with the code, which will be published on Sunday, November 16.

“The process we’re developing is a robust, centralised e-recruitment portal to ensure harmonisation,” he assured.

He further revealed that the nationwide security services recruitment exercise has been postponed to Monday, November 17.

Muntaka Mubarak added, “The advertisement indicated that application forms would be available on November 15, 2025. However, in light of the unfortunate incident that occurred on Wednesday during the Armed Forces recruitment process, the Ministry of the Interior, in consultation with Security Chiefs, has decided to postpone the start date of applications from November 15 to Monday, November 17, 2025, as a mark of respect to the bereaved families and those who were injured.

He said, “It will be published in the national dailies, on the Ministry and its Agencies’ website, and on social media platforms.”

“There are two major channels to purchase application vouchers. From any GCB Bank Branch Nationwide. At the comfort of your home via USSD dial code. The details of the web address and the USSD short code details will be in the publication. The system we are deploying is a robust centralised E-Recruitment Portal, an initiative implemented to ensure harmonisation and standardisation of the conduct of recruitment across the various agencies under the Ministry of the Interior,” he said.

Meanwhile, applicants have been cautioned not to deal with individuals or groups who claim they can influence the recruitment process for a fee.

“The Ministry of the Interior and its Agencies do not charge any fee at any stage of the exercise. Any applicant found to have submitted false information pr forged documents will be disqualified and may face prosecution”.

Additionally, applicants who engage middlemen at any stage of the recruitment process will be automatically disqualified from the process”

The development comes following the El-Wak tragedy during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed six people have died in the ongoing military recruitment at the El-Wak Stadium.

Reports suggest the chaos occurred around 6:20 a.m. when applicants breached security protocols.
