He disclosed that Dr Bossman Asare would have faced sustained pressure had he remained in office.

Prof Charles Marfo argued that Dr Bossman Asare made the right move by stepping down, highlighting that his continued stay at the Electoral Commission would have attracted persistent criticism and scrutiny.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV, Prof Marfo stated, “He did well because he would not have known peace. We would have really worried him, whether there was a deal or whatever; he was smart to resign and might have even enjoyed some resignation packages”.

“I think it was also a realisation that he made a mistake in even accepting the position,” he added.

It will be recalled that Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Government Spokesperson, earlier disclosed that Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr Bossman Asare, has resigned.

According to Kwakye Ofosu, effective July 31, 2026, Dr Bossman Asare would no longer be the Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

The Government Spokesperson made the announcement when he addressed the Government Accountability Series on Monday, June 15.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu further disclosed that Bossman Asare, in his resignation letter, stated that he is stepping down to return to academia and continue his work at the University of Ghana.

He also disclosed that EC’s Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, has retired from his position.

In related news, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Government Spokesperson, has disclosed that Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr Bossman Asare, resigned of his own volition.

Kwakye Ofosu argued that the resignation was entirely voluntary and was carried out in accordance with established procedures.

According to Kwakye Ofosu, Dr Bossman’s resignation was not influenced by political pressure.

Speaking on Citi FM on June 15, 2026, Kwakye Ofosu stated, “First of all, there is no basis for giving any assurance because nothing of that sort has happened. The process for removing a member of the Commission is clearly spelt out by law.

“Dr Bossman Asare himself, of his own volition, wrote to the President indicating his desire to leave at the appointed date, and that is what happened,” he stated.
