Dr Bryan Acheampong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has made yet another shocking revelation about funding some NPP members of parliament since 2021.
Speaking to NPP delegates in Bumso in the Eastern Region, Dr Bryan Acheampong revealed that he was paying sixty-two NPP MPs GH¢20,000 every month.
He highlighted that at the time the NPP had 169 MPs and everyone could not be given a position, adding that at the time he was not a government appointee but was able to fund 62 MPs GH¢20,000 every month as support for them to be able to visit their constituencies.
Dr Bryan Acheampong, speaking to the delegates, stated, “At that time, we were 169; not all of us could be given a position. I did not hold any position. But from 2021, I gave 62 Members of Parliament GH¢20,000 each every month. I was supporting them so they could all visit their constituencies”.
Last year, Dr Bryan Acheampong also revealed he personally financed the NPP’s campaign in the Eastern Region during the 2024 election season.
According to Bryan Acheampong, he funded the party’s campaign activities by giving each NPP polling station executive in November, numbering about 26,000, GHS 2 million each.
Dr Bryan Acheampong further revealed that he also financed 33 parliamentary candidates in the Eastern region with GH¢100,000 every month from May to October.
In a viral video sighted Dr Bryan Acheampong stated, “In 2020, we were in government, so nobody needed my money. But in 2024, the regional chairman and the regional secretary are here, in the Eastern Region, except for about six MPs who were financially independent. I gave each of the remaining parliamentary candidates GH¢100,000”.
“It was from May to October — May, June, July, August, September, October. In November, my regional chairman and regional secretary can bear witness, we have 26,000 polling station executives in the Eastern Region, and I gave each of them GH¢2,000,000 in November to work with at their polling stations,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bryan Acheampong has promised to restore discipline in the NPP when he wins the party’s flagbearer position on January 31, 2026.
The Abetifi lawmaker highlighted that a lot of people within the NPP are just talking, insulting, and fighting on all platforms.
According to Dr Bryan Acheampong, there is no respect for authority within the NPP, and lines are being crossed back and forth.
Speaking on Asaase Radio, Dr Bryan Acheampong explained, “A lot of people in our party, just talking, insulting, fighting… on all platforms, radio, TV, social media, everywhere there’s banter. There’s no respect for authority; lines are being crossed back and forth. Nowhere in the world can you win an election with this level of indiscipline?
“Look at my campaign, you won’t find anybody in my campaign speaking against anybody or insulting anybody. No, you dare not,” he said.
He added, ”January 31st, when I win on February 1st, I will restore discipline. To start with, I will ensure that everyone downs their tools, drops their mics and raise your fingers from the screen. Let’s have a conversation on how we are going to communicate with each other and how we are going to communicate with the external publics,” he said.
“To start with, I will ensure that everybody downs their tools. Come down, drop your mic, raise your fingers from the screen and let’s have a conversation on how we’re going to communicate to each other, how we’re going to communicate with the external publics going forward.
