The Office of the Atukpai Mantse and Gbese Mankralo has debunked media reports alleging the death of Nii Ayi Bonte II, Gbese Mantse and Adonten of the Ga State.

According to the Office of the Atukpai Mantse, the reports are false, unfounded, and without any basis.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Office disclosed that the circulation of the information has caused unnecessary anxiety among family members, traditional authorities, and subjects.

They also condemned what they described as a malicious act and urged the public to disregard the reports entirely.

The Office of the Atukpai Mantse stressed that matters concerning the welfare and status of traditional leaders are communicated through appropriate customary and official channels and not through unverified social media publications.

Their statement further warned individuals involved in originating or disseminating the information to cease immediately and refrain from such actions, adding that it undermines the dignity of the Gbese Stool and the Ga Traditional Institution.

The statement follows earlier reports that claimed that the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte II, a former Hearts of Oak executive, has died.

The alleged reports claimed Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte II, died after a short illness.

It claimed that the Gbese Mantse passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

The earlier report claimed that Gbese Mantse claimed death came two days after he took part in traditional activities marking the lifting of the ban on drumming and noise-making ahead of the Homowo Festival.
