Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, has openly accepted her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, Adwoa Safo, in a statement, disclosed that she has immense love and respect for my brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, adding that in the spirit of honouring our father’s wishes, she publicly acknowledges and accepts him as the Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
Parts of Awoa Safo’s statement read, “I have immense love and respect for my brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, and in the spirit of honouring our father’s wishes, I publicly acknowledge and accept him as the Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asafo Church”.
“He has my full support, and I state unequivocally that I am prepared and willing to work together with him in the interest of the family and the Church, in furtherance of our father’s Vision and Legacy,” she stated.
“The time has come for us, as a family, to transcend whatever differences, misunderstandings or grievances that may have characterised the immediate aftermath of the demise of our dear dad and consign them to history,” she stated.
Adwoa Safo added, “Our father’s legacy transcends any one individual. It is a collective inheritance and a profound responsibility entrusted to us, as his children, and it is a charge we must keep and hold on to, dearly,” she said.
“We must therefore rise above our differences, preserve what he built and ensure that his ideals continue to inspire generations to come,” she added.
“I encourage all members of the Kristo Asafo Church and the larger Kantanka family and everyone associated with our father’s work whilst he was alive to acknowledge and respect the unity of the family,” she said.
“Let us embrace this new chapter with reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose,” she added.
Adwoa Safo further extended her goodwill to Israel Kwadwo Safo and other siblings, saying, “I extend my sincere goodwill and best wishes to my brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, and to my other siblings on this renewed journey of peace and forgiveness”.
“May this new chapter bring healing, unity and renewed strength as we come together to honour and advance the legacy of our beloved father,” she added.
Adwoa Safo’s statement comes on the back of the newly installed leader of the Kristo Asafo Movement, Nana Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr (Akofena) declaring during his address to the public that he now regards his Adwoa Safo and his other siblings as his children.
Nana Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr also revealed that he is ready to reconcile with his elder sister, the former Minister and MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.
According to Nana Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr, as head of the Kristo Asafo Mission, his role has changed the nature of his relationship with his brothers and sisters.
Speaking during a public address on July 27, 2026, Akofena stated, “They’re no longer my siblings. They’re now my children”.
“Going forward, I will call my child and the rest of my children, and the family will also be part of calling my eldest child, Sarah Adwoa Safo, so we can settle our differences. We do not want our issues to come out here.
Nana Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr’s remarks come weeks after the dispute within the family of the late Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka which escalated into violence.
