In a video message to NDC members, sympathisers and the general public, Vanderpuye reflected on his political journey.

He recounted how his political journey had taken him from the revolutionary era through the party’s participation in Ghana’s democratic process.

Vanderpuye stated, “I have served you through the revolution days up to today when we have the National Democratic Congress in a democratic dispensation. This is proof that I have built a life of service and a heart that cares”.

He further highlighted that empowering others, building strong institutions and taking responsibility are essential qualities of effective leadership, noting that years of sacrifice and commitment had deepened his dedication to the NDC.

According to Vanderpuye, his decision to seek the chairmanship is driven by a desire to rebuild, reform and reset the party while restoring unity and confidence among its members.

“I consider myself ready to, together with you, step up to this very important call,” he declared.

Mr Vanderpuye pledged to work towards creating a united, inclusive and caring party where every member, regardless of their position, would feel valued and have a sense of belonging.

He added, “We will build the NDC as one united, inclusive, and caring family, restoring trust among members and a strong sense of belonging at every level”.

Vanderpuye urged party members to support his ambition, expressing optimism that collective efforts could help build a stronger and more resilient NDC.

In related news, Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho has criticised former Member of Parliament Nii Lante Vanderpuye over his reported ambition to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship position.

Koku Anyidoho described the ambition as “senseless” and alleged that it was being encouraged by Church Street, a group within the governing party.

In a post on social media, he urged Nii Lante Vanderpuye to abandon the contest, insisting that he would not win.

“Forget this senseless ambition of yours supported by Church Street. You will NOT win, and you are wasting your time,” Mr Anyidoho wrote.

He further warned that he could make additional revelations if those he described as Mr Vanderpuye’s supporters continued to back the bid.

“Don’t force me to say what I don’t want to say. Tell your Church Street masters to back off before some of us say what we don’t want to say,” he added.
