Mohammed Buhari, popularly known as Gen Buhari, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) social media activist, has broken his silence after he was detained.
According to Gen Buhari, he was detained in one of the most dangerous cells near the sea in Jamestown after he turned himself in to the National Security in the company of his lawyer.
Gen Buhari stressed that he would never forgive the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government after the treatment he went through.
The NPP activist insisted that he did not commit any crime, adding that on a later day he would share a full account of the ordeal.
In a post on X, Gen Buhari wrote, “I was detained in one of the most dangerous cells near the sea in Jamestown, Accra, after turning myself in to National Security with my lawyer.
During my detention, there was no running water, so I couldn’t bathe until the day I was released and guess what? I had to use sachet water bought by inmates to bath. We also had to eat next to the toilet that couldn’t be flushed due to no water, so waste built up all day and was only flushed once at night with sachet water. It was hell in there.
This is something I will never forget, and I doubt I can ever forgive this NDC Government for what it has done to me.
I will share my full account on what I experienced despite not having committed any crime”.
It will be recalled that Gen Buhari and fellow activist Godfred Ansu Damoah were arrested by state security for circulating a video of President John Mahama demanding GH¢150 million from the National Security Coordinator.
The video was later described as AI-manipulated.
A court granted both men bail of GH¢30,000 each with two sureties.
Also, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has issued a Facebook post clarifying a video of President John Dramani Mahama which has gone viral.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, the viral video circulating on social media has been deliberately distorted by some misguided elements.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained that President Mahama was referring to the release of GH¢150 million for post-flood mitigation works during a discussion with the National Security Coordinator.
He further urged Ghanaians to disregard the mischievous lies and not to be misled by the circulating claims.
In a Facebook post on Monday, July 27, Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated, “Some misguided elements have sought to distort the President’s words in this video to achieve narrow partisan ends.
The President clearly speaks of the “release” of GHS 150 million, which was in direct reference to funds for post-flood mitigation works.
That is what he was discussing with the National Security Coordinator and nothing more.
Disregard the mischievous lies!”.
Meanwhile, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has weighed in on the continuous arrest of persons accused of insulting President John Dramani Mahama and other government officials.
The Majority Chief Whip expressed his disappointment over the recent arrests.
According to Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, he personally opposes the arrests of people for insulting the government.
However, the Majority Chief Whip argued that the arrest although insults are unfortunate, they do not harm the government in any way and called for such arrests to cease.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 on August 8, 2026, Dafeamekpor stated, “I am upset by some of these arrests; they go against the government. Sometimes, the government does not even sanction them; it is the Police. As a government, we must pay attention to some of these things because they do not help. These insults do not hurt the government, so we should allow the people to speak”.
