Nana Akua Addo, a Ghanaian fashion icon, has taken to social media to open up about her marriage after videos of her and her husband in a heated altercation surfaced online.
In a video, Nana Akua Addo on TikTok detailed the trauma she has allegedly been going through in her home for some years now.
She further disclosed why she has been missing at some events, mainly red-carpet shows in the country.
Nana Akua Addo shockingly revealed that her husband had placed a curfew on her, adding that she was often subjected to heavy beatings whenever she went against the rule.
Nana Akua Addo in the video stated, “Some of you kept asking why you don’t see me at red-carpet events. The thing is that I am on a curfew, and anytime I go out and come back after 10 PM, I am always beaten.
“I can’t fight these battles, and I have been doing all these things all these years just because I want to get the money and come out of it”.
She further added, “He used to prevent me from getting any deals that came my way. But because his family came to ambush me, I left the home for about a month, and that was how I was able to go to Milan and Nigeria.”
“When I was pregnant, he refused to give me money so I could go to the hospital. So I got eclampsia at the seventh month. And it was either they save the baby or me. When he came to visit me in the hospital, I asked for GH¢200, and he told me he would send it as mobile money.
“I made him aware that I couldn’t operate the phone if he sent mobile money because they had placed drips in my veins. He called his mother to the hospital, and she came to fight me, insulted me, and even said some harsh words to me. Three days after the incident, I lost my baby,” she added.
Meanwhile, viral videos circulating on social media have captured Nana Akua Addo in a heated confrontation with members of her husband’s family, sparking widespread discussion online.
Some of the clips appear to show Nana Akua Addo engaged in a physical altercation with her husband, while other videos capture a heated verbal exchange involving a man believed to be her brother-in-law.
In one of the videos shared across several TikTok pages, the man is seen exchanging words with Nana Akua Addo in the presence of her mother-in-law, husband and child.
During the confrontation, the man allegedly accused Nana Akua Addo of infidelity and directed derogatory remarks at her.
Nana Akua Addo responded by challenging the man, saying, “The effrontery. Even you that sleep with house girls.”
The man replied, “I love house girls. A prostitute like you, you be sleeping with land guards, you be sleeping with people. You’re mad. You sleep with people; everybody knows.”
Her husband, who was present during the confrontation, was heard saying, “Shame on you,” before leaving the room.
Also, the man believed to be her brother-in-law subsequently claimed that he had videos to support his allegations against Nana Akua Addo.
The exchange became more heated when Nana Akua Addo accused him of ambushing and insulting her.
She stated, “You ambush me, and you call me ashawo (prostitute), and you don’t even have DNA on your children. All my children are from one father. You fathered a child out of wedlock. Take it from your mother”.
The man responded by saying he loved all his children and was proud of being a father.
In separate videos that have since surfaced online, Nana Akua Addo is also seen involved in a physical altercation with her husband.
Other videos and images show the fashion icon at a health facility with a swollen lip, blood-stained clothing and visible injuries, further raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Nana Akua Addo has not issued a formal public statement on the matter. However, she was reportedly seen in the comment section of one of the videos appealing to a popular TikTok blogger to remove some of the content, citing the welfare of her children.
Meanwhile, videos purportedly showing her husband being arrested and escorted in handcuffs have also surfaced online.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged altercations remain disputed, and the claims circulating online have not been verified.
