Dr Osei Kwame Despite, a Businessman and media mogul, has finally broken his silence concerning the feud between the wives of music icon Daddy Lumba.

According to Dr Osei Kwame Despite, it will be a curse for him to support one side during the commotion that ensued during the funeral planning and subsequent court cases.

He revealed that he gave Lumba’s family GH¢100,000 to support the family in public.

Dr Kwame Despite further added that, Akosua Serwaa visited him upon his return to Ghana from Germany with her kids, and he later gave money and a car to Papa Shee to be given to her, but never supported anyone.

He stressed that he had never spoken to Serwaa nor Odo Broni’s lawyer, and did not know what was happening.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, Dr Kwame Despite detailed, “Charles was a close associate for a long time. When his death happened, I went to commiserate with the family and gave them GH¢100,000 to support the family. I gave the money to them in public and not privately”.

“I didn’t have any interactions with the family after that until I received a call from Serwaa in Germany informing me of her arrival for the funeral,” he explained.

He added, “Serwaa, upon her arrival, came to greet me with her kids after visiting Charles’ house. A few days before the one-week observation, I was planning a trip to Holland for a funeral, which also clashed with the date for Charles’ funeral,”

“I gave money and a car to Papa Shee to be given to Serwaa. I don’t have an issue with anyone, so I’m surprised at the claims that I am supporting someone. It is a curse for me to even do such a thing. I’ve never spoken to Serwaa nor Odo Broni’s lawyer, and do not know what is happening. I haven’t spoken against anyone,” he insisted.

Meanwhile, the Kumasi High Court later declared Akosua Serwaah Fosuh and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as the surviving spouses of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

The court presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith‑Arthur ruled that Akosua Serwaa cannot be declared the sole surviving spouse, as the evidence she provided did not affirm her claims.

During proceedings on Friday, November 28, evidence showed Odo Broni was customarily married to Daddy Lumba before his passing.

The court also highlighted that Akosua Serwaa was customarily married to Daddy Lumba, but rejected her alleged German marriage certificate presented as it was not an original certificate.

The court ruled that both Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni are recognised as surviving wives of Daddy Lumba and must be acknowledged by the Abusuapanyin in the performance of the widowhood rites.

The plaintiff, Akosua Serwaa Fosu, was seeking a court declaration that she is the only surviving wife of the late musician, allowing her to have exclusive authority to carry out all widowhood rituals.

She was also demanding that the court restrain Odo Broni from falsely claiming to be the late singer’s wife.

Daddy Lumba was later buried on December 13, following subsequent back and forth in court a day before the burial.

The Accra High Court paved the way for the funeral of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, scheduled for December 13, 2025, to proceed as planned.

This follows the failure of applicants seeking to block the arrangements amid a family dispute to deposit GH¢2 million into court by the 2:00 pm deadline on December 12, as ordered by the judge to cover potential costs.

The court subsequently struck out their injunction application, lifting the earlier legal barrier.
