Private legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hamza Suhuyini, has called on appropriate state authorities to invite former Assin Central MP Ken Agyapong to substantiate his allegation of an NDC member offering his wife a lucrative contract in exchange for bribes.

It will be recalled that Ken Agyapong alleged that a National Democratic Congress (NDC) official approached his wife with a contract worth $55 million.

The former Assin Central MP alleged that the practice of selling public contracts and demanding.

He alleged that similar incidents have occurred in dealings linked to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Ken Agyapong, an NDC official approached my wife with a contract worth $55m, demanding an 11%  kickback.

Speaking on Net 2 TV, Ken Agyapong alleged, “An NDC official approached my wife with a contract worth $55 million and demanded an 11% kickback.

The $55 million, the person demanded 11%, demanding an advance of 7% before she would be awarded the contract”.

However, Ken Agyapong did not disclose the name of his spouse, nor did he provide details of the purported contract.

Reacting to Ken Agyapong’s claims on TV3’s New Day programme on 22 June 2026, Suhuyini underscored that there is a need for accountability, particularly in light of the government’s stated commitment to fighting corruption.

“I expect those mandated to enforce our laws to invite Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to substantiate these allegations. I am particularly interested in the claim that a leading member of the ruling NDC made such an offer to his wife.

“We need to know the truth because this is a government that has vowed to deal decisively with corruption. Since assuming office, President Mahama has demonstrated fidelity to and commitment towards that promise. If there is any substance to these allegations, then the public deserves to know,” he said.

Suhuyini added, “Ken also makes the point that, for the NDC and the NPP, we are all the same. He says he is concerned about the future of the youth of this country, and that is a fair point. If this country is indeed moving in the direction we believe it is under the current administration, then I think that effort is yielding results”.

He further suggested that Ken Agyapong draw the NDC into his controversy to deflect criticism from his own party, the NPP.

“Those political leaders who allegedly made such an offer should be exposed. However, I can assure you that he dragged the National Democratic Congress into the matter when he realised he had said too much about the NPP. He knew members of the NPP would come after him, which is why he attempted that form of equalisation. You cannot simply make such claims without evidence,” Suhuyini said.

Meanwhile, Ken Agyapong has also accused the former NPP-led government under Akufo-Addo of selling the Agenda 111 project to people and taking a 10% share.

The former MP issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), threatening to expose their actions if they continue to provoke him.

Ken Agyapong, however, in the heat of his submission, disclosed that the NPP failed to complete the Agenda 111 project due to the 10% share they were taking.

Ken Agyapong dismissed suggestions that he was motivated by bitterness, adding that his comments were about national development rather than partisan interests.

Speaking on Net 2 TV, Ken Agyapong alleged, “The NPP says I am bitter. I will not say anything to them. They think it is about what they did during the campaign. They can’t shut me down. If Ghanaians want to know, they should ask them about Agenda 111 if they were able to complete one. They sold the contracts to other people and take 10 per cent,” he alleged.

“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place,” he cautioned.
