The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has said the entire party leadership stands fully with the Minority leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.
Nana B dismissed any assertions of disagreement within the party over the Minority Caucus’ scrutiny of the GoldBod losses.
According to Nana Boakye, there is no confusion within the party, as its leadership, including Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, fully supports the Minority leader.
Speaking during a press conference held by the party on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Nana Boakye stated, “Let me say this boldly and plainly that the entire leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including the presidential candidate, are fully behind the Minority. There is no confusion anywhere.
“We are fully behind the Mighty Minority. The NPP stands fully, completely, and unreservedly behind our Mighty Minority caucus in Parliament led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin. We wholeheartedly support each member in this struggle.”
“We back their questions, scrutiny, and demands for a full, transparent account of how a state institution charged with buying and protecting Ghana’s gold ended up presiding over such huge losses of this magnitude. This is not partisan politics but a national duty,” he noted.
“We are not backing off now, not tomorrow, not until every question is answered in full and in public and under proper scrutiny,” he added.
“We also say this to the Minority Leader and every member of the caucus: use every relevant law in the books, every question on the floor of Parliament, every committee hearing, every request for documents, every order paper, every point of order; utilise every relevant tool provided by the Standing Orders in our parliament with confidence,” he urged.
Meanwhile, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has revealed he will avail himself to every investigation to clear his name in extortion allegations made against him.
Addressing Parliament on Monday, August 24, the Minority Leader committed to denying the allegations, revealing that he has taken legal action against the GoldBod CEO, who accused him of extortion.
“I have chosen to take the high moral ground by submitting myself to the processes of the law. I have accordingly caused writs to be filed at the Achimota Circuit Court. I have every confidence that in the fullness of time, the court will make the appropriate determination on these matters.
“I also await with bated breath, that the man or the men who made the allegation will have the courage to report the matter to the police or the OSP or any investigation agency in this country and I expect that if they muster the courage to report that I have extorted from them and I am invited, I shall submit myself to every investigation so that eventually my name is cleared.”
Afenyo-Markin stated, “I have accordingly caused writs to be filed in Suit Number GT/1029/2026, titled Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin versus Samuel Adu Gyamfi and Multimedia Group Limited at the Accra High Court, and Suit Number GR/ACH/CC/C5/02/2026, titled Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin versus Eric Adjei and Peace FM at the Achimota Circuit Court”.
“I have every confidence that in the fullness of time the court will make the appropriate determination,” he added.
The legal action follows weeks of public exchanges between the Minority Leader and the GoldBod CEO over the financial performance of the DGPP, while Afenyo-Markin had appeared to have softened his earlier threat to pursue legal action over allegations made by Sammy Gyamfi.
