Maleek Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has announced the agency is set to launch a YEA EV Delivery Brigade.
According to the YEA CEO, the initiative is projected to create more than 10,000 permanent jobs for young Ghanaians.
Under the programme, a structured and uniformed delivery service will be rolled out across all 16 regions, with over 10,000 electric bikes to be issued to trained beneficiaries.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the YEA CEO’s announcement stated, “Please, I wish to be employed to be part of this great delivery opportunity. In which procedure can I take in accordance to get this opportunity appointed?”.
An X user added, “All those of you who know nothing about delivery services and you are here making ignorant and propaganda noises, go out and ask the average sales a delivery guy makes a day. They are making ¢500 to ¢900, but because you guys are consumed by office jobs that throw youth to poverty”.
One netizen argued, “The lawlessness of motor riders can’t be taken for granted while you are delivering this motorcycle and also u need to do insurance for all these bikers cos after a year …the accident go be excess!! There should be an act or regulatory systems in check before delivery”.
“My brother, do you call this job creation? What a mediocre approach to poverty. While you build farms in the north and produce large-scale cows and animals, you can’t even encourage young people to go into agriculture with aid to become like you. You are here sharing bikes”, a netizen added.
In other news, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare-Addo, has said the John Mahama government is set to launch a domestic care economy programme next year which will create about 100,000 jobs for Ghanaian youths.
According to George Opare-Addo, the move forms part of government’s broader efforts to tackle youth unemployment and create decent and sustainable employment opportunities.
He disclosed that the government remains committed to reducing unemployment by the end of President John Dramani Mahama’s four-year term.
George Opare Addo admitted that youth unemployment has recorded a slight increase but attributed the challenge partly to Ghana’s growing youth population.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) event in Accra on Thursday, August 13, Opare-Addo stated, “Next year, under the YEA, we’ll be launching the domestic care economy, and that alone is supposed to employ close to 100,000 young people. Clearly, clearly, we will reduce the unemployment rate”.
George Opare Addo expressed confidence that the planned intervention, and other programmes being implemented by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), will contribute significantly to reducing unemployment among Ghanaian youths.
