A senior lecturer at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and his teaching assistant have died in a gory accident on the Accra-Cape Coast highway.
Reports suggest the tragic incident on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, which has thrown the University into a state of mourning.
Earlier reports suggest that two people were killed and five were injured in the crash, on the Third Ridge Junction along the Accra-Cape Coast Highway.
The two dead have now been identified as staff of the University of Cape Coast.
According to reports, Dr Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang is a senior lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning of the university.
The second victim was his teaching assistant, identified as Peter Amoadu Asmah.
The information gathered suggests the crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when a loaded tipper truck was forced into a dangerous manoeuvre after a vehicle reportedly changed direction into its lane while overtaking.
According to eyewitness accounts, the tipper truck attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle that had veered into its lane while overtaking, and the truck reportedly lost control, falling onto a saloon car carrying two occupants.
In other news, the Konongo Odumase M/A Basic School community in the Eastern Region is mourning the death of two of its teachers following their deaths on the opening day.
Reports suggest that the male teacher, Francis Aguah, popularly known as ‘General,’ was ill during vacation and died on the opening day of a new term.
The other female teacher, identified as Grace Stepheny, aka ‘Obaamua,’ also collapsed upon hearing the news of his death.
According to reports, the female teacher was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
